Listen closely because I'm only gonna say this once: Sour cherry and lemon loaf.

Seriously.  Do yourself a favor and get yourself some bright-tasting love-in-a-loaf if you're in the neighborhood, or heck, go out of your freaking way for it.  I know it sounds like I'm a raving nutcase, but I've actually had random passing thoughts/fantasies about this bread and it was about 2 weeks ago now that I stopped at Breadfarm on the way up Chuckanut Drive.

Also bought a loaf of whole grain sliced with some salami and cheese from next door for a little picnic along the way.  While it was delicious, as well as the peanut butter sandwich cookie and cherry pistachio cookie, the sour cherry lemon bread was exceptional.

So, repeat after me:  Sour cherry and lemon loaf.  (I guess I said it more than once, but you get the idea.)

Quaint and full of local charm. I love how the bakers are working right behind the counter. Seeing them knead dough with such love makes the bread you eat taste that much more delicious. We like crusty bread, but the olive bread they bake might be just a tad too crusty for us.

Worth the drive - I have been to many a bakery in my day and I will admit that location and charm can make any baked good taste better.  With that said, Breadfarm makes outstanding bread (had the apple bread and potato bread).  Great atmosphere - a little edge to the service which makes the bread taste even better.

I am super picky about my baguettes, they have to have the perfect combination of crusty outside (without cutting your gums!) and soft inside, (but not just white bread and air like in the grocery store). I used to get my baguettes at Avenue Bread in Bellingham but Bread Farm makes better. Their new Parisian Loaf is outstanding! Firm enough for Crostini and soft enough for a grinder. The flavor is superb, nice and yeasty without the yeast flavor being over-powering. My favorite snack? Top a thick slice with Cambozola and put under the broiler for a minute. Yummm. This is the best Baguette I've found since I lived on Lopez and picked them up from Holly-B's.

Also excellent is the kalamata loaf and the sour cherry which they used to only sell around the holidays but I think it's now available all the time due to popular demand. The kalamata loaf is my favorite to take to potlucks. Lightly toast slices and top with Brie and it will be devoured!

    Forgive me my trespasses.
I ate more than my half of the chocolate mint cookie.
Deliver me from evil. I inhaled the chocolate nib cookie, fig rolls and cherry/ lemon bread.
    Amen.

What a cute freaking bakery and name for one.  Tried to go the day after Xmas but they were closed.  Stopped in today and bought some bread, one coconut macaroon, a veggie focaccia and a bought a jar of Spicy Apple Butter as "omiyage" (a tradition of giving gifts to family and friends in Japan after a vacation).  Looking forward to tasting the apple butter and oh my was the little golden macaroon tasty.  We finished it by the time we walked out.

Most of their business is wholesale but I would definately suggest visiting Breadfarm as there are cute little namesake gifts and treats.

Rarely do I feel sane enough to spend $6.50 for a loaf of bread.  Breadfarm's Sour Cherry & Lemon loaf was worth every penny.  As I was stuffing mouthfuls, I was telling the hubs how frickin' amazing the bread is- perfect crumb with an amazing balance of sweetness for a loaf of artisan bread.  We got a chocolate mint sandwich cookie which was so good that I sent the hubs back for another, with a plea for him to get the chocolate babka.  He did even better by bringing back a peanut butter chocolate chip cookie.  Score.  They do their own peanut butter in house!  The only downside to that was that I couldn't share any of our treats with the little bug who is nut-free for the time being.

Breadfarm is one of the few bakeries to blow my mind lately.  We could really use one in Seattle!

A friend of mine brought me several items from here and they were ALL wonderful! My absolute favorite though, was the graham crackers. They are like thin, crisp, graham shortbread cookies. SOOOOOO good! They also sell on etsy. Can't wait to go up in person!

    Family owned.

    Artisan Bread.

    Local.

    Awesome.

That covers Breadfarm and right next door is Slough Foods. Even better, you can buy cheese at Slough Foods to go with your fresh awesome bread from Breadfarm.

Mmmmmm hand crafted peanut butter. That is some yummy stuff! Their granola as well is quite tasty and the people there are quite sweet... just like the sweets they sell. Their bread is very good, fabulous crumb and fresh taste. My only complaint about the bread itself is the crust. Its obviously high quality but i think their original cooking temperature is a little high because most breads I've gotten from them have these SUPER hard crusts, perfect for cheese and spreads but not so amazing for sandwiches.
Its located in the cute little shopping area of bow so you can do a little one stop gourmet food, bread, gifts and other such lovley things. They are also at quite a few of the farmers markets including some in Whatcom and King county so you find them all over the place if you look hard enough.

It's intensely good, crusty bread, with loaves in a wide variety of flavors.  Whenever I'm in the Skagit Valley or traveling between Bellingham and Seattle, I always stop in at the Breadfarm.  I get an olive baguette and peel off chunks to munch during my drive.  The little town of Edison also has several other shops and galleries to browse.

Breadfarm is an incredible bakery that specializes in wonderful, crusty breads.  We are partial to their fig anise rolls (available W and Sa).  Their more recent additions include the most amazing graham crackers ever and some outrageous cocoa nib cookies.  Both of these are just mind-blowing with Gothberg Farms' chevre, available next door at Slough Foods.

If you are familiar with Tall Grass in Seattle (Ballard) then you should know this is their rival (and the only one) north of the city. If I am ever plunked on a desert island and have only my two hands to feed me, I'll have a Tall Grass baguette in one, and a Breadfarm baguette in the other and I will be chewing happily for a good long while.

I arrived to Breadfarm right before closing time and minutes before a big thunderstorm rolled in. They were very welcoming and willing to answer any questions I had. Unfortunately I needed to beat the impending storm so I only had a chance to grab a couple of macaroons this time around.

But based on my short visit and seeing the stacks of fresh loafs lined up throughout the store I'll definitely stop back by the next time I'm near Bow.
