Central Point, OR
The best breakfast I have ever eaten was the cranberry cream cheese stuffed french toast from the Breadboard. It was seriously like eating delicious dessert but in an appropriately breakfast-type scenario. They use their thick-cut baguette-type bread and bring it to you with a side of their homemade marionberry jam.
My one complaint is the occasional issue with the service; most of the times I've been I've had excellent waiters who were both attentive and helpful, but there is one woman who is just down-right rude. I think it just may be a brusque personality, because I think someone told me she was one of the owners, but her unfriendly attitude is just off-putting. When I was there with some friends, one of the guys had ordered a rather complicated selection of side dishes, which basically resulted in his food arriving on four different plates. Since there were five of us stuffed into a booth because it was crowded that morning, we stacked them up and nicely requested that she take them for us since we had run out of table space. She threw him a dirty look, said she'd come back for them, and than literally walked past our table three times without bothering to grab the dishes. If she is indeed one of the owners, she should stick with things that don't involve customer service.
Another random minor complaint is that they charge $4 for a "fresh-squeezed" orange juice, but I saw them pour the juice from an Odwalla jug (which, granted, is excellent juice, but is not freshly squeezed from an orange as I expected).
Overall, though, it is an excellent breakfast place and I will be back -
Review from Cee A.
My favorite breakfast spot in southern Oregon! Big, fluffy buttermilk biscuits smothered in some very creamy country gravy always hits the spot. I won't lie -- it's not the best breakfast I've had, but it fits the bill quite adequately, and is definitely one of the better places in the Medford/Ashland area. It's also nice that you don't get the massive, enough for a family of four-sized portions that similar places such as Black Bear and Old Farm House offer.
It's not the biggest space, so definitely expect the place to be crowded on weekend mornings. However, people tend not to linger for too long, so tables do turn over pretty quickly.
It's quaint, fairly inexpensive, and is the perfect excuse to head into Ashland on a weekend morning. -

4.25 to 4.5, the homemade marionberry jam here is insanely good. Went on a major marionberry phase after coming here. Oh yeah, the rest of the breakfast here was pretty good too, but I would come back just to feast on the jam.

I came here for breakfast last weekend during one of my summer trips to Southern Oregon. It's been one of my favorite restaurants since living in Medford. I had the Mountain Man breakfast and it was delicious. There's nothing like biscuits, sausage, cheese, eggs topped with country gravy! Yummm!! The staff is awesome despite out waiter forgetting our coffee. We ended up paying $2.50 extra for the coffee unknowingly and they informed us. We didn't feel like waiting to void our check and having to redo everything. They came out with a huge bran muffin while we were in our car to reconcile the cost difference. I thought that was classy of them after we said it was okay. The breakfast and company is well worth the cost and paying an extra $2.50 was no biggie to us. It's always hard to try other things when you have a favorite. Next time I'll make it a mission to try something different. I'm already looking forward to my next trip and Breadboard is on the menu.

It's all about the Mountain Man. I don't see anyone else mentioning this fantastic breakfast option, but it's the reason I would definitely return and crave a Breadboard breakfast.
What is it? Why - only 2 big moist buttermilk biscuits with eggs and sausage inside, smothered in righteous gravy. Done right proper. Plus - toast. Healthy it is not. Delicious it sure is! Mountain Man.
Get it.
I see some of Yelp reviews that are down on Breadboard's service. Not sure what happened, but in 2011 the service is definitely top-of-the-line. Extremely friendly and prompt. All of the staff we had (2 days in a row) were very attentive and great. They even have a writeup on the wall for two of the waitresses who were voted best service in the Ashland area, and I would have to agree. It's hard for me to think of any restaurant anywhere will better breakfast service.
I confess I didn't get the Mountain Man on back-to-back days. I was tempted, but just couldn't do that to myself. Instead I got their 'Breadboard Breakfast' on day 2, which is your pretty standard breakfast mix of things: Eggs, Toast, 'Homers' (home fries), and an addition of Sausage. Standard offering, but done well, again with great service. Coffee was always full.
I will certainly return again, and I definitely recommend to others. -

First trip here, will be back. Good food, good service.
Good menu selections, primarily a breakfast place, closes at 2:30pm.
Excellent whole grain bread and homemade jam to go with it.
Excellent biscuits, however I found the gravy odd. Seems that they added rosemary or some other spice, probably to be fancy and different. I just found it off-putting.
My only other gripe is that their omelet was scramble style - with the ingredients cooked within the egg. That's just a preference thing with me. -

I have been here several times, but this visit stood out. Came in for breakfast with my girlfriend, it took us 15 minutes just to decide on our meals. I decided on the Omelette Ole, but wanted add chicken, and they kindly obliged. I don't eat wheat, so they gladly gave me extra "homers" instead of the toast. When the food came, everything was hot and freshly prepared. The meals are filling and very, very tasty. To top it off, our server Patrick was well above par. Huge thumbs up.

Tyler H. is right. It is all about the Mountain Man. And if you're not Mountain Man enough or just want to live longer you can get the Half Mountain Man.
Had a neighbor once describe Breadboard's food and ambiance as more similar to those found in New York city's gritty diners than to more frou-frou Bay Area-style restaurants like Morning Glory. That's spot on.
We've been then multiple times, and we've never been disappointed. -

Solid. I had tuna sandwich and the girlfriend had eggs-style brunch. Both were yummy.

My friend took me here for breakfast and raved about it all day the day before.
The restaurant is pretty cute but the service was horrible. It was impossible to get a waitress and the place wasn't only about a third full. I asked for a straw and never got one. I was finally able to get a waitress to come by and asked again for one. Our water was never refilled or anything but my friend totally tipped them 50%. Wtf? Maybe thats how people do things in Oregon because theres no tax. Haha.
I got the magic mushroom omelette with wheat toast. The omelette was pretty tasty and the jam was good too with the toast. The potatoes were mediocre and neither of us finished them, nor did we take them with us. He told me the portions were smaller than he remembered too.
If I had a choice, I would definitely not return. -

You can't beat breakfast on the patio, overlooking the rolling hills above Ashland. Add to the view the pecan waffle with apple butter, with a side of wonderful home fries, and bam - it's breakfast fit for a king.

Everybody goes to the Morning Glory in Ashland, but Breadboard is great, too. Their portion is just right (Morning Glory can be too much). They have eggs Benedict, and their original Mountain Man is filling and delicious.

Review from Lori K.
Great place for breakfast! The pecan belgian waffle with apple spice butter is delicious! The texture is perfectly crisp on the outside with excellent flavor from the pecans embedded in the batter. The apple butter was super light and fluffy and a unique taste.
The special scramble on the day I went was a chicken apple sausage, feta, pepper, and onion, which was also very good. I also tried my friend's french toast with cream cheese filling and marionberry. This was a little too heavy for me, but tasted pretty good nonetheless.
Great service and reasonable prices. Overall, a solid place for breakfast in Ashland. -

I don't even know where to start! I stopped in with 2 of my travel soulmates on our way to Crater Lake National Park. We were planning on doing some nature-lovin', hippie hiking and wanted a kick-ass breakfast for some fuel.
We got it.
I am a huge fan of breakfast in general (everything is better with bacon... right?) and had an amazing omelette there. The home fries were great, the biscuit was delicious and the homemade Marionberry jam is now my new obsession. Too bad we don't have Marionberries on the East Coast.
I'm pretty sure I stuffed my face adequately (understatement of the century...), topped it off with some coffee and shed a small tear that I probably wouldn't be back again anytime soon... only because I was just visiting the area.
If I was a local, I would probably be there every weekend. -

Randomly found this place during my first visit to town. I have gone back every time I'm passing through. Great menu, staff, food always seems to come out quick and hot! Parking has always worked out, but I do believe I've been there during off-peak hours. They kept the coffee cup full and always came around to see if we needed anything else. Try the bacon (thanks to another yelp review), it was great. They also make fresh Marionberry every day. Loved it so much, I wanted to put it on everything and needed to take some home (small complaint here, it was a little costly...but it was made fresh). Also had the breakfast burrito, pancakes and the turkey sandwich. All I would have again.

This place has it all dialed. Tasty food that is served quickly and consistently. Service is excellent. My favorite order is the Ashland Scramble with Tofu. Yum. Second is the Calico Special. I do not eat eggs and most breakfast places don't cater to me. Breadboard does. Thank you, Breadboard.

Not wanting to wait in line at that other morning place, I drove out to Breadboard before hitting the road for a long drive home. It was just before noon on a Friday, and there was lots of parking and no waiting, so I was able to sit outside on the deck.
I'm a life-long sucker for biscuits and gravy, but I rarely eat them any more, as they really aren't the healthiest item on the menu. However, after reading some of the reviews here, I caved in and ordered up a plate. Yowza! I grew up in the south, but I don't remember ever seeing biscuits this huge. And boy, were they good! -
Review from Eric B.
Gayle and I stopped here for lunch after returning to town from our hike up at the Avenue of the Boulders near Prospect (on the way to Crater Lake).
Service was fast and friendly and the space was Midwest unpretentious, clean, and comfortable. My parents would really like this place. However, our over Lunch experience was just OK. Maybe 3.2 Stars, but nowhere near 4.
Although my tuna melt was very good, Gayle's marinated ginger chicken salad was rather flavourless and uninspiring. In fact, the rather large chicken strips reminded us more of Costco than what we expected at this community institution.
Maybe we should have had breakfast here instead, as this seems to be Breadboard's specialty and the source of most of all these exemplary Yelp postings. We'll try again in the morning the next time we're in town and update our review accordingly.Listed in: Ashland Oregon

Grants Pass, OR
I really wanted to give them 4 stars, but they are really more of a 3-star.
Pros:
- There were just 2 of us, so even though the place was packed, we got seated quickly
- Reasonably priced for the amount of food you get
- Friendly service
- The food tasted good - definitely above average for what you'd expect at breakfast place
Cons:
- The place was dirty-ish (lots of dust on blinds, table was wet and sticky, ketchup bottle had spills all over it)
- Place is run down - it needs touch-up paint all throughout and just better care in general
- There were 7 people working the place - all were stressed out, yelling, running around, getting in each other's way
- Parking was absolutely jam-packed! We got lucky with our spot
- The place is small and they don't have enough room for everyone, so it felt way too crowded and packed in
- The food could've been hotter - it was closer to the room temperature -

The two times I've been here the food has been the draw and I'll b back.
I was interested to read the earlier review about the ketchup bottle, when I was there yesterday I picked up the bottle and had to go wash my hands to get the old, sticky ketchup off. I saw a worker going around replacing ketchup bottles and asked him if he was going to replace mine because it was "booby trapped". He said "are you going to use it?" And I said "only if you replace it." I guess if I'd said no it would have left it for the next customer to have the same experience. -

Best breakfast in town.
While living in Ashland, we've been to a number of breakfast places. Ashland Bistro Cafe was pretty good. Morning Glory was okay, but the wait for a table made it unbearable.
The Breadboard, however, is a jewel.
If you can, sit in the sunroom. It's cozy, unpretentious, and warm. The service is so very fast. We usually get our food less than ten minutes after ordering.
Check out their specials before ordering. They usually have some amazing dishes, such as the cinnamon roll french toast with strawberries. I usually go for their basic breadboard or a California omelette, both of which are always made to perfection. -
Review from Kim N.
We have been a couple times for breakfast and really enjoy it. Service is great, food is fresh and well-made, and they have a nice patio off to the side of the restaurant. The one bummer is that they only have breakfast potatoes - not hash browns. But, the rest of the deliciousness makes up for it.

******A MUST-GO to in Ashland! Delicious breakfast! Always great service! Very clean and friendly atmosphere. Love the patio with the view of the valley. I have tried the waffles, cooked to crispy perfection topped with sweet, fresh strawberries and my ultimate favorite is the biscuits and gravy! Love the sage flavor! Their omelets are huge! Each meal is something you can share with someone. I rate this high on my list of Ashland restaurants! If you eat breakfast here, you won't need lunch. Kudos to the owners and staff---you are rock'n and truly doing it right! This is a well run business- you can tell.

Ahhh such fond memories. The last time we were driving up the coast from SF to BC we looked forward to our stop at the Breadboard. Like seeing old friends. We had a reliable brunch on the patio. We were stuffed up and ready to roll out. I'm pretty sure we wouldn't pass up the chance to grab some grub here again. We could never resist before...
We are repeat customers. -

Ashland, OR
Family favourite for brekkies. It can be a little daunting to pull up on a weekend morning and see a lot of people already waiting for tables, but don't freak out - the wait is usually less than 15 minutes, and once you're seated you get attended to fairly quickly. Food, in my experience, comes out of the kitchen pretty fast as well.
It's hard to choose a 'favourite' off the menu because I nearly always end up getting whatever was on the specials board out front (strategically placed for you to ponder and drool over while you wait to be seated), but whatever you settle on you should totally opt for the multi-grain toast w/ homemade marionberry jam as your bread choice. Yum!
The cinnamon rolls here are huge - seriously, you could share one amongst your entire family. Sit out on the patio in good weather if you can. -

I used to really like coming here as a kid. I hadn't in a while, until this weekend when my friend was in town. In the bathroom of the Beau Club my friend and I were talking about where to go to breakfast. Morning Glory came up, and at that a voice from the stall said, "No way, f*** Morning Glory. Go to Breadboard." The event was strange enough to change our minds...
I've had great breakfast here, like the Mountain Man, but the Greek Omelet is not one of the great ones. It had black olives instead of Kalamata, which in my book makes this NOT a Greek omelet.
Don't get me wrong, I like this place and I will go back, but now I know there are things to avoid. -

Nice people, nice food, nice place.
I enjoyed the homers, the potatoes, very much, those probably was the best part of the breadboard experience. I had the Ashland scramble, broccoli and eggs and cheese, pretty weird tastes together, but it worked out. It tasted like a stir fry breakfast or something, but it was still pretty good.
Coffee was a little weak, but I am a snob when it comes to that. I would stop here again if I was driving by, not too shabby. -

An amazing local find! Great to find some place like this on my trip through Oregon. The pumpkin pancakes were outstanding, and so were the french toasts! Exactly the kind of place to enjoy a lazy and cozy weekend meal.

Great place for BRUNCH!
Food is good if you stay on the local menu. The biscuits and anything with multi-grain is great. Omelletes are fantastic but I will stay away from "Country Fried Steak" not really their forte. That was mostly my mistake! I wanted to eat something heavy but it was just not at par!
Great outdoor seating! -

So we're heading to Ashland for the w/e on Friday and I keep thinking of all the places I didn't review when we were there in October. The Breadboard is one of our very favorites. We come here at least once each trip and sometimes twice. In October we were here for 3 or 4 days and ate here twice. The food is so good, the service is great, the views are fabulous. Sitting out on the deck on a sunny summer morning is heaven. I'm embarrassed to admit this, but after coming here for years, I discovered a new part of the menu that somehow I'd never noticed, tucked away in the center that had some great new dishes. There was an omelet or a scramble w/ spinach, feta and mushrooms, if I'm remembering right, three of my favorite foods, all together!

It was pretty good. Their patio is wonderful! Prices are a little steep, but the portions are very generous. I had biscuits and gravy (a steal at $5.25) and my biscuits were a little dense and dry, but they still tasted good.

This is the best place in Ashland to get breakfast. We make a point of going here every morning while in town. The specials are always good but the main menu has excellent choices too.
