Wow, authentic German. If you have ever been to Germany you know that what you get is fresh and local. You don't goto "Fry's" for bread you goto the bread shop and get some bread and the guy says, "I just pulled it out of the oven, watch your fingers!". That is what this place reminds me of. Small, home made and happy.
**Cash only!**
If you plan on eating, make sure you drop by before 2pm during the work week. After that you can get bread and pastries that are amazing. I normally just go simple and get the schnitzel, my wife will get some cucumber goodness.
The family is always happy to talk if you have time and make good conversation. This is a 5 star establishment and as real as it gets! -

Most savory avocado chicken salad this side of the Grand Canyon. Their traditional German fare is lovely, too, but that salad is the one that's kept my craving for the last five years. I don't visit as often as I'd like, but it remains one of my favorite spots for quick cozy lunches with my husband.
Oh, and the pastries? Out of control goodness! -

The sweets here are awesome. One of the best cheesecakes here!

I would give this place 5 stars, but they recently changed how they "pickle" the cucumbers that come on the side of the jaeger-schnitzel. That was always my favorite treat at the end of the meal and they changed the recipe or how long they pickle it for. I say this because I want them to know that we noticed and I hope they read this review and fix it. I go back about once a month, so if I notice they've fixed it, I'll modify this review.
If you're looking for shnitzel and you don't have a german grandmother or relative around who can cook it up for you, THIS is the place to go in Sierra Vista.... As long as it's not dinner time and you went and got cash first. Service is kind of slow when it gets busy because they're understaffed, but when you do order, I swear they must have the schnitzel hanging over the frying pan ready to throw in because the food often comes out almost instantaneously.
Oh and I've heard they have great breads. I don't know though because I'm always full from schnitzel. -

If you love Germany and German food, this is the place for you. There are plenty of good menu items, but it seems unforgivable to not order schnitzel here. Today I had Jaeger Schnitzel (breaded pork cutlet with mushroom gravy) with Spatezle (German noodles) and it was great! I especially like the small selection of grocery items, German chocolates, and bakery items. BRING CASH because in the past, cards were not accepted.

"Do things right and they will follow . . . "
For years, this place has been doing it right. It must be something to do with doing what you love because it shows.
Baked goods and lunch. That is what is done here and done right.
Stop during lunch time, 11-1 and if you hit it right, you will be waiting for a table, and for good reason. Salads and sandwiches are freshly made, served on . . . you guessed it, freshly baked bread. Soup is homemade and served with a great crusty roll (Brochen). The daily special which is frequently Jagerschnitzel, is spot on served with a salad, Spatzle and pickled cucumbers. It is large, filling and reasonably priced.
Other treasures are all on display behind glass as to keep the drooling patrons from spoiling the tasty baked goods.
There is a small offering of imported grocery items mostly from Germany as this is the ethnicity of the owners and like all things German, are top quality, nearly perfect, understated and offered with little fanfare.
Remember to bring cash as this is the only form of payment accepted.
Stop in for lunch, a mid-morning treat or late afternoon snack and you will be happy you did, it will put a smile on your face. They are open early and stay open until 5pm for that last minute baked good or bread addition to dinner.

This is a regular stop on the way to work and for lunch. I love the pretzel rolls! They have great goulash and schnitzel. We had a lemon mousse that was out of this world!

Quite a pleasant surprise of delicious German food and baked goods. The first time going to this place I picked up some baked goods. My absolute favorite was an almond twist that was filled with an almond filling. Absolutely deliciouis! I also had the apple turnover, which was ok. I'm used to a more crisp pastry on the outside, but either way it was still flakey and good.
I returned another day for lunch. It was excellent. Had the jäger schnitzel, which was perfect, not greasy, not dripping with grease, it was perfectly fried with the brown gravy. The service is excellent, friendly, and the food came out very fast.
They also have a nice assortment of German goods, candies, curried ketsup, etc. for purchase. Don't forget cash only! Can't wait to return again. -

One of the only authentic restaurants in this town. Be delighted with their selection of baked German goodies and breads in your mouth. Their cakes are divine!!! Especially the almond horn.....yum!
As for the menu, it may seem small, but I find I end up ordering things that are not listed! One of my favorites is the mango chicken salad. Their chicken salad has cranberries, pecans, chicken, and herbs that is then placed inside a halved mango. This is then placed on a bed of mixed spring lettuce. It also comes with a dill flavored cucumbers and their infamous bread roll.
A few things to keep in mind.....
They serve lunch only Monday through Friday from 11am to 2pm.
They are not open on weekends.
It is cash only.
It is well worth the multiple visits! I promise...your mouth will thank me later. -

Great specials! Salads & Jagerschnitzel. The baked goods are fantastic. They only take cash so go prepared. Good home style cooking served by very nice people. Limited seating so lunchtime can be crowded.

Excellent food - great pastries - OK bread.
It is cash/check only. Their food is great, salads are realy salads and not just iceberg lettuce with fattening dressing like other restaurants pass off.
In Germany there are two kinds of bakers: bread bakers and cake/pastry bakers. It is apparent to me that the owner is more of a cake/pastry baker, they are excellent and authentic. The food is also excellent and authentic. However, their breads and rolls fall short of my expectations, but everything else more than makes up for it. -

Fresh baked German goodies, what's not to love? I've never eaten lunch at the Breadbasket, but I often stop by for a almond horn, chocolate croissant, macaroon or other baked piece of heaven. What can I say, I like sweet stuff. There is always a good selection, they are always fresh, and the prices are not bad. I can get my fix (and it takes a lot to fix my fix) for well under $10. Under $5 if necessary (under $2 if you are normal).
Give the Breadbasket a try, just save me an almond horn.
One major negative - cash only -

We went to this place after getting Tanaka sushi. It was a nice place to get dessert. We bought the fruit roll candy in the front, and they were delicious, especially coke flavor! We got the raspberry and cheese danish and a cherry rectangle pastry. Both were pretty good, maybe a bit on the dry side. There were a lot of people there though at 12pm. I really wanted to try the almond horn, but it is a lot bigger than I thought. I believe it was $2 something for each pastry. I didn't think it was THAT great, just a little better than supermarket pastries, which I think are good. My German friend definitely liked it. They offer bread, pastries, salads, sandwiches, and candy.
