Remember when you were a kid and you thought something was amazing, but then upon revisiting as an adult it happened to be a terrible idea? It happened to me with Power Rangers posted on Netflix, but I can say it did not happen at Bread Winners. The last time I visited, I was in middle school and I remember eating a delicious salmon dish. Flash forward to now, and I decided to revisit this restaurant with my great-aunt to spend quality time with her to see if I was living with nostalgia.
First off, a note about accessibility:
My great- aunt is over 80. Although she is admirable mobile, she won't win any medals for speed. The parking is very tight around McKinney Ave, and the traffic is dense (the front door is off of a one way street), so it was a bit of a crash course in accessibility 101 trying to safely get her to the sidewalk. I ended up parking behind the cars in the front, then blocking traffic a bit with my person until she made it to the sidewalk. Yes there is valet parking in the back, but it is far from the front door if your mobility is limited and the pavement is uneven. However, once we made it inside, I requested a table that was accessible and within 10 mins, we were seated. The hostess at the door even made sure my great-aunt had a seat while I moved my car. We were seated at the dining area closest to the door, and there was even a patron with a wheelchair in there, so they make it work.
Food:
Instead of the standard bread most restaurants give with their meals, Bread Winners bumps it up two notches and serves a selection of spice cake and dried cranberry cake instead. It was a nice touch (bread #winning). I wanted to order a steak wrap off the lunch menu but it was already sold out, so I switched to buttermilk pancakes that ended up being delectably spongy and very filling. Unless you haven't eaten in days, two of their face-sized pancakes are more than filling. I ordered bacon and eggs, and they were standard fare for brunch. My great-aunt ordered a turkey burger with potato chips. The burger was mammoth and juicy, and the chips looked freshly prepared. Even with the menu hiccup, we were both pleased and satiated with our menu selections.
Overall, this was a trip down memory lane well worth taking. The parking situation for those with limited mobility could be better, but once inside, it is a breeze. I enjoyed making new memories with my great-aunt that we will both cherish and appreciate the effort Bread Winners put in to make it happen. -

I have been here three times now and it is definitely a staple brunch spot, however, weekday lunches are a little chaotic. Then again, what in uptown isn't during that time? The place always looks super crowded but I have only ever had to wait 5 minutes for a table. For as large as the restaurant is the staff somehow manages to be attentive (more than I would be able to do given the number of tables in the restaurant).
I will say that for lunch if you are up for any type of salad then this is your go to, just know that you will want to valet your car instead of trying to park on your own (it is definitely worth a $2 tip to the valet guy than to drive up and down those back streets). All in all this is a staple spot and great for a large group that might be visiting Dallas. Oh and did I mention that their iced tea is amazing (it is really similar to the tea at Dream Cafe). -

Review from Barb N.
We had a late lunch here yesterday. It was my first visit to this location. I really enjoyed the atmosphere. Casual and nice. We were seated on the inside patio. Awesome! Plants everywhere and a breeze from the corridor.
On to the food.
As always delicious! The server brought out a small plate of different breads. They were all good but the garlicy cheesy jalepenoy one was AWESOME! For an appetizer we ordered chips, guac &salsa. We wanted to order the smoked gouda fondue but that is served from the dinner menu. If you go for dinner, GET IT! If your a cheese lover you'll be in heaven. So the chips were homeade and unusual but great... puffy, fresh, crisp. The guac and salsa equally enjoyable.
On the lunch menu, you can order half of any salad and half of any sandwich so that's what we all did. I love the San Fransisco Cobb so I got that and the Chicken arichoke melt. The melt was new for me. No shortage of arichoke on this soft basily bread, chicken, fresh spinach and provolone. YUMMY! Everything is so fresh and homeade I just love it.
Of course you can't come to this place "Bread Winners" and not get a baked good. The desserts are amazing! Typically we go on Sunday nights for dinner because dessert is free with dinner. We've had several things. I have not been disappointed yet. For us, dessert is to go because the meal is so great we've stuffed ourselves with everything on the plate or it's bagged to go also.
So far my favorite was the carrotcake cheesecake. They didn't have that made yesterday. The peach ginger cake was SUPER! So moist and just the right amount of spice and the frosting was light and yummy.
Highly recommend!!!!!! -

Love Love Love this place. I wish I could put it in my pocket and take it with me where ever I go. Let's start with the ambiance. Exceptional. It is super cute with bricks, red umbrellas, fireplace, fountain, plants. Service was amazing. The food choices were vast. Presentation was cute. The food tasted great! It was all fresh and I wanted everything on the menu. There is so much I want to try and that is always a great sign when you go to a restaurant. The only problem is parking. It sucks. Everything else is 5 stars.

I have been to Breadwinners about a dozen times since moving to Dallas and have never once been disappointed. Most people know Breadwinners as a great place for breakfast or brunch (be ready to wait if you come during brunch hours on a weekend). I found that it is also an excellent place for dinner...and my favorite meal...dessert.
Breakfast/Brunch: I've tried and loved the pancakes, scrambles, and bites from my husband's casseroles. Of course, every meal begins with an assortment of fresh rolls and breads (cinnamon rolls, pumpkin or similar breads, fruit breads, and more), in the same manner tortilla chips are served at Tex Mex restaurants. I don't think it's possible to go wrong at breakfast or brunch.
Dinner: The one full dinner experience we've had thus far met with our expectations as well. The hummus and bread was quite good, and the side of spinach I ordered was not only well cooked (not mushy at all) but was huge. I forget the main dish my husband ordered and shared but it was excellent (he shared).
Dessert: I have the eternal sweet tooth, so when I saw the chocolate seduction cake in the bakery, I was hooked. When the first bit hit my mouth I was a fan for life. It is ridiculously rich, which only means I get to enjoy dessert two or three times from one piece. The pictures I found online didn't show the huge Hershey Kiss-shaped chocolate and vanilla icing that are now part of the dessert. They are a very welcome addition if this is new. If you like rich chocolate, you will love this dessert. If you don't, there are plenty of other tasty-looking options. As of mid-April, 2012, they offer a free dessert with dinner on Sundays. Woo hoo!!! When we stopped by just for drinks and dessert, the coffee, tea, and liquor options were excellent.
Service: The servers and greeters are always quite friendly. The vibe I always get is very laid back but competent.
Atmosphere: The atmosphere of Breadwinners is unique and varied. It's definitely casual. There are several sections where you can sit, and each one is different. If you're in the back open area, it can be a bit loud at brunch time, but up in the terrace section, the front section, and outdoors, I've never noticed it being loud. I would have to say the indoor terrace area is my favorite. It's like being outside but not having to deal with the full force of the summer weather. The plants all over are charming. You just have to find the area that fits your mood on a given day (unless it's brunch time and too busy to be picky).
Parking: For the first seven to eight trips, we parked in the lot behind Breadwinners (valet only) for free. However, the last two times we visited were a bit different. On a Saturday morning we had to get the ticket validated (still no cost this time other than optional tipping, at least). When we dined on a Wednesday night, we had to pay a fee up front (It was at least $5, but I forget the exact amount). That was our first evening parking experience, so maybe it was always that way. Though it is Uptown, it's not impossible to find street parking within a couple blocks, so we'll go that route next time.
Final Verdict: I LOVE this place. The food, the service, the atmosphere, and one of my all-time favorite desserts will keep me coming as long as I live in the area. -

I had done some research before my recent trip to Dallas and when searching for great Brunch spots Bread Winners was constantly mentioned. Luckily for me the Uptown location was right across street from where I was staying. We had Saturday brunch here and the place was very busy. We grabbed some mimosas while we waited for our table. Once seated the service was very fast and efficient. Our server was well informed and gave us some great recommendations. The menu had so many items I wanted to try but we decided to order the Julio's Huevos and Santa Cruz Enchiladas. Both dishes were very good! They were flavorful and the portions were huge. Bread Winners is a winner in my book. I can't wait to go back and try some of their other dishes!

This was my first time eating at Breadwinner's and it was pretty good! For a Friday night, it was not that busy. Our group had a nice private place to sit in a little nook of the restaurant. I really dig their wall lights which consists of the arm of the Statue of Liberty sticking out of the wall - holla!
I split the Grilled Mahi Sandwich with my boyfriend and, durh, I got a side of fries because.. that's my thing. The pieces of mahi were a tad dry but I liked the smokey flavor and the flakiness of the fish. I also enjoyed the tartar sauce that came with the sandwich - it added moisture and flavor to the sandwich. The tomato was not as fresh as it could've been, but overall it was a tasty sandwich. The serving of fries was very generous and I couldn't stop myself from chain-eating them.
When we walked out of the restaurant, I drooled a little on myself aftering eyeing their cakes (somehow I missed that on the way in?) so I'll have to make another visit to try those babies! -

I placed a phone order for a cookie delivery to the hotel I was staying at in Dallas for a Bachelorette party. From the initial call to the delivery of the cookies I had a FABULOUS experience with Bread Winners. I was very impressed with their level of customer service. The cookies and treats were adorable (bra and panty decorated cookies, rice krispy pops and cake balls in the colors of the wedding) and they tasted amazing- everyone was impressed!

We went back again for lunch this time. Although, I couldn't resist getting breakfast again. I had the black bean cheddar scramble. WE didn't have the same staff person wait on us. BUT, Derinda stopped by to say hi! How nice.
My friend liked her chicken salad lunch. It was fresh and had lovely fresh fruit on the plate, not just garnish but yummy fruit.
Hubby had the basic breakfast again. We were all quite satisfied and full, but we walked alot around Downtown Dallas and burned off all those calories. I know I will be back here, maybe one more time before my trip is done but Iknow in the future we will come back.2 Previous Reviews: Show all »

i've never been here for any other meal than brunch, but i live in Oklahoma and absolutely crave it every weekend. The wait is kind of a pain during peak hours but i expect that at most places on the weekend for brunch. I wouldn't plan on going if it was raining bc most of the space is outside or you can wait at the bar next door and wait for your table. Parking, however isn't the greatest down here but at least during the day they valet for free. I will probably never eat brunch anywhere else in Dallas because I only get it every so often, although I need to check out other Breadwinners locations!

I've been there twice, and I have mixed feelings:
The first time, my wife had just gotten out of the hospital, and we were starving. The waiter was very compassionate, extremely nice, and our food was delivered promptly. No problem, was happy to go there again.
The second time, we went to brunch around 9:30am, had to wait maybe ten minutes (not bad at all), and then we were taken upstairs to be seated along with another couple. Same exact waiter comes along, very nice guy, very helpful, and we order breakfast before the other couple. Somewhat later, the other couple receives their food, and we continue waiting. The other couple finishes eating, and we're still waiting. The waiter politely and consistently says he's checking on our order. The other couple puts their plates aside, we're still waiting. Our food finally gets there, and three minutes later, a table that sat probably 20 minutes after us gets their food.
I know mix-ups happen. I know this place is very popular and gets packed for brunch around 10:30 or so. We weren't offered a discount on our check, we were offered some zucchini bread, which as it turns out, was fabulous. Still, it bothered me, and while the food was great, I left with a sour taste in my mouth.
Otherwise, I'm sure you'll enjoy a great meal at Bread Winners. -

This is the first time I have visited Bread Winners in Dallas and it's more than likely not the last. My coworker and I enjoyed a fantastic early morning breakfast this past Saturday (April 21, 2012). Audrey was our waitress. The service was great and the food was very yummy. Visit this location the next time you are searching for a place to eat breakfast.

I've eaten at breadwinners many times before and have always enjoyed the food, had decent service and a reasonable wait time. Only the prior rang true during my visit this past Saturday.
Upon arriving at 1 pm my party of 4 was encouraged to wait at the bar down the street. 1 hour passed until our names were called and we were ushered through the restaurant, upstairs, through the rain, to a drafty space above the bar where we'd been waiting. We waited 20 minutes for our server to take our drink order, and then even longer to place our meal order. The server had to be reminded to bring out a bakery sampler for us (which came on a paper plate). Eventually the food came and it was fine. Nobody checked on us throughout the meal. The entire experience was lacking and its a shame I will never get those 3 hours back. Its very sad because I have always liked breadwinners.
I'm not sure I would ever be willing to return -
Review from Edwin L.
I read all the awesome reviews and looked at all the pictures on the way to each lunch at Bread Winners this past Thursday. I was a little disappointed...everything was good, but nothing was really great except the frozen mimosas. I took the servers recommendation and got the crispy chicken wrap. It was good, but definitely nothing to write home about. My wife got the shrimp salad, which looked decent. I think part of the problem was the limited lunch menu and most of the cool menu items I read about on yelp weren't offered on the lunch menu. We asked about ordering some dinner menu items, but were informed we could not. The best looking meal ordered at our table was the prime strip steak sandwich, which unfortunately I didn't order. The service was okay, but very rushed and my water glass was empty for the last half of the meal. We sat in an outdoor courtyard area, which was very cool and seemed to be the best place to sit in the restaurant. Overall, I thought Bread Winners was okay, but I probably wouldn't go back...at least not for lunch. Food-3 stars, Service-3 stars, ambiance-4 stars, value-3 stars.

definitely a trendy spot of dallas and on a very trendy and popular street with the trolley going around and lots of outdoor restaurants. (apparently, this is a dallas thing ;D)
we came on a sunday afternoon and there was quite a wait. there are multiple areas to sit and you can have quite a different atmosphere at each place. the boyfriend and i were promptly seated in the indoor area that opens to the outside patio area, and were served pretty quickly. it's extremely bustling and quite busy so don't expect to get 5 star restaurant quality service.
they give you a plate of bread that is the most unique and delicious plate of bread you can get anywhere. there was a pound cake, a banana bread, a zucchini bread.. and probably some other stuff. it comes in slices for you and you ask yourself why other restaurants don't do this and instead give you a piece of french or sourdough bread that was probably just sitting there for days. DELICIOUS.
boyfriend ordered the raspberry chipotle chicken sandwich, and i got the chorizo scramble. i have to say, i wish i got the sandwich. the scramble wasn't anything overly amazing and it's like any other breakfast food that you get with some potatoes and a side of tortillas for the scramble. i wish it was a bit spicier because it describes jalapenos and such, but it wasn't too bad.
but OHMY the sandwich. the chicken was nice and tender with a great chipotle sauce. who knew raspberries would be such a good combination?! the spicy and sweet and the hearty ciabatta bread. it was so delicious. i absolutely loved it. perfect combination and unique idea for the win :)
i bought some items to go and they were equally as good. we got the home-made poptarts that the baby cousins LOVED. the pastry is nice and thick with a very delicious, gooey, and not overly-sweet center. the cinnamon buns are HUGE and full of happiness in every bite.
i don't think this is my favorite breakfast/brunch restaurant ever, but it's definitely worth the experience. -
Review from Jando S.
Is Bread Winners the best brunch in Dallas? My tastebuds and stomach like to think so. They might need to be rebranded as "Brunch Winners."
Waiting for a table at Bread Winners was an exercise in patience, as our group of 5 waited for an hour and slowly built up one hell of an appetite. We passed our time next door at The Quarter bar (http://www.yelp.com/bi...), a Louisiana themed joint owned by the same management. When a restaurant owns the neighboring bar to keep would be patrons busy with drinks, you know it's busy.
When we were finally seated, it was off to the races. My group and I scoured their menu of endless weekend brunch options and ordered an array of brunch entrees, all of which were $10 or higher. We waited long enough to warrant a multiple tasting of our plates, a sharing spectacle worthy of all food samaritans, a merry-go-round of brunch love.
The food was delicious, albeit took a tad long to come out. My breakfast burrito composed of potatoes, cheddar, eggs, chorizo, queso ranchero, and pico de gallo, was heaven all wrapped in a flour tortilla. I had multiple samplings of the Texas Benedict, a brunch masterpiece of beef brisket hash, an English muffin, caked in tobasco hollandaise sauce. It was so good I ended up switching my plate entirely for a good 2 minutes. Southwest Texano cuisine lovers will adore Julio's huevos, a hearty brunch mountain of tortillas, eggs, pulled pork, roasted peppers, sour cream, jack cheese, potatoes and salsa. Another winner was the biscuits and sausage gravy, all gobbled up in minutes by my hungry hippo of a group.
It was heavy, it was filling, it was delicious. If good things come to those who wait, we paid our dues and left with post-food apocalyptic smiles that only a great brunch can bring. The service was fast and the prices were fair for all we managed to cram down our throats. I would return back to Bread Winners in a heart beat and will gladly wait it out, since one of my new 2012 resolutions (if they're even necessary), is to be more patient. -

Believe the hype.
While visiting his family in Dallas, we were trying to decide on a place to eat lunch. To impress them all I pulled out my handy-dandy yelp iPhone app and started searching. I searched salads and fish tacos and Bread Winners popped up. I read them some reviews and the menu. Ten minutes later we are in the car....
The corner location in this hip neighborhood was perfect for our afternoon patio lunch and for people and car watching. Yes, you can car watch in Dallas.
I ordered their frozen belini (cuz I'm funnier that way) and it was simple, unpretentious and delicious. The wine list was short but had a good range; from a Franciscan Chardonnay for $30 to the Z/D Cabernet for $60 a bottle.
I ordered the salmon salad with changes to the ingredients. No problem. Everyone's meal came and everyone was pleased. The homemade potato chips and gratis muffins were the highlight; sandwiches and salads were fresh and tasty. Nothing over-the-top-I-must-have-more-of-this-forever good, but good enough for me to give it 4 stars.
We ordered a chocolate cream pie to go and had it later that night. It was mighty pretty but tasted ok.
I enjoyed Bread Winners very much and would recommend it to anyone looking for a nice, simple yet hip dining endeavor. -

Outstanding service. I think it may depend on who serves you because the girl who seated us was gruff and unresponsive. The girl who waited on us was great. She was quick, on top of things and offered me a to-go cup of coffee when I was done. That sounds like it should be common practice everywhere but it's not.
Menu and decor is a little frue frue-ey for my taste but I wouldn't hold it against the place.
The food was just fine. I had pancakes and my son had scrambled eggs. You actually had to search for these two staples among the fritattas and quiches. A place like this ought to have fresh squeezed orange juice (it didn't).
There are a lot of good breakfast places in Dallas and while this one is fine, it wouldn't be at the top of my list.

It pains me to give this place a one-star review. The food is solid, but not amazing. I went to Quarter Bar and Breadwinners to watch a Saints game. The service at Breadwinners is awful.
She's short, fiery, brown-haired and downright disrespectful. I experienced some of the rudest service ever here. Right after I left I mentioned it to my girlfriend and she said "she treated me the same way." She argued with me about validating my parking ticket and then tried to argue that she would not sign it because the time on my check was after the allowed validation time. Except I arrived over an hour before that time.
If she wasn't so rude, it would have been mildly frustrating. But the tone and attitude made it too much.
On to the food: I ordered green chili mac and cheese and chipotle chicken sandwich. The mac and cheese was good, but almost soupy. It really delivered a spicy green chili flavor, which I find most mac and cheeses of this type often don't live up to. The soupiness would have been disappointing if not for me sopping it up with the ciabatta bread. Instead they were a great complement. My girlfriend got a chicken breast and potatoes. The chicken breast was tender, flavorful and juicy.
The bar staff at Quarter bar worked hard and treated me well. Still not enough to make up for the overwhelmingly bad attitude. -

I hear their brunch is legendary. However, I didn't go there for brunch. This is a review about my dinner there.
Came here with a bunch of friends. There were nine of us, yet the wait wasn't too long. We were seated in a nice little room in the corner of the restaurant. The restaurant is a cute homey place throughout; there's even an indoor patio area that lets in lots of natural light that I'm sure looks really pretty during brunch/day time. Our seating area was dimly lit (but not too dim) with a stained glass window and a vase of flowers in the corner--they were definitely going for the whole cottage feel i guess, which does work; like i said, it's a cute homey place throughout.
I ordered the reuben which came with a free side; I had the fresh fruit. It was pretty good! The reuben had a generous amount of corned beef and i just love sauerkraut and thousand island; the fruit was really fresh and had pineapples, oranges, strawberries, and grapefruit. One of my friends ordered the wild mushroom ravioli, several others ordered the raspberry chipotle chicken sandwich, both of which tasted good too.
And, since it was a Sunday, their special offer was a free dessert to go with our entree! Awesome! I ordered the the banana cream pie--good good. Overall, a reuben with a free side plus a free dessert--for around $12--a really good deal. -

Breadwinners is a very cute spot for brunch, with a lively crowd and a menu that offers a variety of options. The decor is nice, the outdoor courtyard is the best place to sit, and despite the wait--which I usually abhor--I enjoyed myself because you can spend the time at the bar next door, which has ample seating and inexpensive drinks.
The baked goods are solid--not spectacular--but better than most.
Service was slightly rushed, but professional. This was a Saturday morning just after the brunch rush, though, so I understand.
The lack of televisions in the dining room is always appreciated. -

The pictures and description of the food looks and sounds better than what it tastes. I had the southern eggs benedict. It was 2 dry biscuits with dry pulled pork smothered in gravy with dry onion rings. Nom nom. The waitress claimed the egg sandwich was phenomenal but I can make a better egg sandwich from costco. The cinnamon roll was delicious. The best thing I tried here was the chicken fried steak. It was really good. Hattie's in Oak Cliff was way better.

Oh Bread Winners. I have never entered your establishment even after living in Big D for all of my life. And now my moment had come...and gone...
Met some friends for brunch here while visiting and I was immediately not that impressed when I first walked in. The hostess was slightly rude when I told her that we had three people TOTAL but only two of us were there. She snapped that she couldn't seat us until our third person was there. I looked around the restaurant and saw that they were not that busy and I just giggled and said "oookkk?!" We waited on my friend and then we were promptly seated in a cute little patio area. Our waitress saved my sour attitude towards this place. She was funny and she was approachable and she alone made me want to actually come back and have brunch there. On to the food:
The food was greasy but good. The portion sizes are big and one Chorizo (spelling??) dish could have easily fed two ladies. Prices were a bit high as well.
Overall I wouldn't say this place was bad or terrible, I've just had better experiences at other places that offered brunch that also had better prices. I also fell more comfortable at other places.Listed in: The Big D

I wish it were possible to give half stars. This is a 3.5 star review rounding up to 4. We've visited Breadwinner's several times and while the food is clearly very good quality, both my husband and I find that at least half of what we've tried has been a little off. Neither of us has yet found our go-to favorite dish.
I've had the Tuscan Farfalle and it was decent but a little 'off' in a way I can't put my finger on. The pulled pork tacos were too salty. The bananas foster waffle was tasty, but a wee bit too sweet for my palate - definitely dessert for breakfast! It even came with a side of maple syrup which I can't imagine anyone would ever need for a waffle as sweet as this.
I think the best dish I've had here so far has been a benedict - egg, ham, asparagus, hollandaise on croissant. Hearty and savory. The weekend brunch menu is quite large with many menu items I'd like to try.
Desserts are also very good here. I have fond memories of a champagne cake special on New Year's Eve that arrived at our table adorned with a lit sparkler. Free dessert with Sunday night dinner is always a great deal. Lots of tasty choices. -

The real winners are the folks who eat here! I popped in with some friends around 10:30AM and were fortunate enough to have to wait only 5 min or so. By the time we left, about 40 mins later, the line was around the block.
As a fan of any food breakfast or brunch related, it was rather tough to decide on what I wanted to eat. Steak and eggs, Eggs Benedict, waffles, pancakes, fruit cups... they have it all! I settled on a bacon and egg sandwich and absolutely loved it. Aside from tasty food, everything right down to the decor and location of this restaurant is superb.Listed in: Traveling..., Dallas, Texas!, Breakfast & Brunch

All good things must come to an end, and unfortunately, that included my week-long road trip. =(
I had a blast discovering what Dallas has to offer. Being able to sample eateries and coffee houses revered as some of Dallas' best offerings was really fun, which would have been impossible without two very important resources: Yelp and D Magazine. HUGE SHOUT OUT and thanks to all my fellow Texas yelpers for being spot on nearly every destination.
Getting ready to board a plane later in the day can be a bit nerve racking. If you're a nervous wreck or susceptible to motion sickness, you seriously don't want to eat a large breakfast like I did here at Bread Winners Cafe & Bakery. Thank God I'm pretty comfortable flying!
As my bud Mark and I set out to eat here for breakfast, being new to the area, we nearly became lost. But arriving wasn't the end of our frustrations. Every parking stall was occupied! Thankfully, we were eating so early that the private lot across the street normally designated as valet parking was unattended and we were able to park there.
BWCB is completely adorable. Walking in their facility, I quickly recalled several areas in Los Angeles, sort of like that stretch on Melrose Pl. just off La Cienega Blvd. or maybe it was just the crawling ivy at BWCB's façade and their outdoor patio that drew traces of home.
Much to my surprise, we were seated immediately. My amazement was conceived due to the fact of their dining areas, both indoor and out were near capacity.
Their crew was incredibly accommodating and friendly.
Complimentary bread is served at each table and is more than you would expect. It's not your run of the mill bread rolls and butter. No way! We were served a few choice slices of their fruit breads which included their blueberry cream cheese, lemon almond, cranberry orange, and gingerbread! Ordering a coffee beverage with their complimentary breads alone could have served as a sufficient meal!
I wanted to eat something that was going to play nice with my stomach seeing that I would be boarding a plane in a few hours but considering that I probably won't be in Dallas any time soon, I opted for the Brisket Benedict and their signature Nature Cakes.
Brisket Benedict: 5/5
Originally, I was going to order their Southwest Migas Scramble, but when I noticed their Brisket Benedict was the special of the day, I couldn't pass it up! My only reservation was their hollandaise sauce. I'm not a huge fan of it and there are only a handful of places that make it right. Another thing that spooked me was the combination of this sauce and beef brisket, but thank God the results were actually delightfully surprising! Their egg yokes were perfectly runny and blanketed the ever so soft and tender brisket and soft English Muffin. I couldn't believe how quickly I demolished this dish. I wanted more! It's a fair statement to say this has oddly become one of my all time favorite benedicts! The accompanying brunch potatoes were seasoned ideally and cooked thoroughly, but not mushy.
Nature Cakes: 5/5
OMG!!! AWESOME PANCAKES!!! This short stack was fluffy, mixed well and contained a fair amount of BWCB's homemade granola! Each bite yielded either some dried cranberries or sliced almonds.
My recommendation is that you definitely DO NOT order two items like I had (unless you want to take home leftovers). Either dishes I ordered alone would have been more than enough, considering you're probably going to get half-full off the complimentary bread.
BWCB...please save me a seat...I'm coming back for you! -

I forgive you, Breadwinners. Break up to make up?! I wrote a not-so-friendly review months back after a bad experience I had with an extremely rude waiter. I used to be a summertime regular here, but that one bad experience left such a sour taste in mouth I did not return for months.... UNTIL NOW.
When a friend invited me for brunch here last Saturday, I could not resist having a delicious salmon benedict and coffee to cure the previous day's hangover. Service was spectacular this time around, food came out fast and just as delicious as I remembered, and the green sunroom is such a beautiful place to enjoy a meal.
Glad we could truce it out, BW. I'll definitely be back to see you again soon :)Listed in: Let's take this outside!, Sunday Funday, Sunday Morning Hangover Cure

My....what large YOLKS you have....
...what large FILLINGS you have...
...what a large bed of deeeeelish POTATOES you have..
This, I said to my plate of fluffy, salmon-stuffed omelette (~$14).
It was like a hungry man's fairy tale, with no sad ending in sight and a to-go box in the end.
We were a LARGE group of 12, and we had to wait about 45 minutes before we were seated (since they only seat complete parties...darn you, person-who's-always-late!). But service was brisk during this fast paced Sunday brunch time, and orders were kept right.
This place isn't exceptional but it still does me a solid. Oh, and keep an eye out for the inevitable, devour-able complimentary plates of muffins/pastries (a plate/4 people), and when there's still some left, just scoop scoop scoop (shh...) into your to-go box! -

We came on Sunday around 11am for brunch, I was expecting a huge wait...but it was really only 10-15 minutes, so not too bad. My friend and I split one of the egg Benedict specials, and it was great. Very glad we split it as it was just the perfect amount split. My other friends got some Bloody Mary's, which they said were good, but they were $10. That's a bit steep for an afternoon Bloody Mary! Other than that, everything was great. There was a really cute little courtyard area for seating, that was probably my favorite part of the place!

An old Dallas classic, you can't go wrong with Bread Winners. With the fun New Orleans type vibe like it's sister bar next door, The Quarter Bar, it always feels like you've left Dallas. The antique fixtures, narrow rooms, and high ceilings definitely give the place a quaint feeling.
The food is always great whether you get something from the bakery, a salad, or a sandwich. My personal reliable favorite is always the Raspberry Chipotle Chicken Sandwich. The service is quick, friendly, and reliable. They usually have some kind of special going each night like half price appetizers or half price price bottles of wine.
The place is usually pretty calm in the evenings while weekend brunch or lunch tend to be pretty hectic. They've also got a dog-friendly patio for your four legged children for those sunnier (non-December) days. Definitely worth stopping by if you haven't already, just remember, parking is a bit fussy. -

Great service, great food, great surroundings. Came in for brunch on Saturday. Seated within about 10 minutes and coffee as soon as we hit the table. Ordered the breakfast enchilada after pointing to another patron's plate and asking with wide eyed wonderment what it was.
Turns out it was breakfast heaven on a plate. Gigantic and flavorfull; smothered, covered, superb. -

Finding Downtown (where we were staying) barren of breakfast on the weekend we traveled to Bread Winners and what a cool place! The decor is awesome with a double sized old mansion (or it looks like it) turned into a series of great rooms - the best one being in the indoor greenhouse room in the center of the place. We ate upstairs in the back near another bar and fireplace - a 10 minute wait turned into a 2 minutes wait and we were impressed with their good service. Our waiter was awesome and very sweet. I had the banana bread french toast and sausage - delish and rich. The sausage was very tasty. I couldn't get over the fact that the whipped cream was so rich and real it didn't collapse before I was finished eating. Would definitely go back when I'm in Dallas again.

A couple of my girls and I decided to meet up for brunch on a dreary Saturday. Wait was relatively pretty good (about 15 minutes) considering it was quite crowded. They only seat you until everyone in the group is there. We were seated in what looked like an indoor patio, which for some odd reason reminded me of the Wynn Buffet dining area..maybe the brightness, plants, and my ongoing urge to go back to Vegas?? ehh..
Since I am on my quest to find the best Eggs Benedict, I decided to try the house special of the day: BLT Benedict. While we waited for our food, we tried their complimentary bread, which consisted of 3 different house special breads. I never got a chance to try 2 out of 3 since our food came out. The one I DID try was really good. I have no idea what it was but it was slightly sweet, nutty, and so moist..maybe banana nut bread but I didn't smell or taste banana??
My BLT Benedict was HUGE!! But knowing what a big eater I am, I was on a mission to finish it! The eggs were served over toast and bacon and slathered in Hollandaise sauce. Visually, it was not very appealing because they placed a couple of sliced lettuce over it...do I really need lettuce with my eggs??? Yea yea...BL(ettuce)T but there wasn't any tomato unless you counted ketchup? Anywhoo...once my fork sliced into the egg and the yolk started to oooze out, nothing else mattered. From the toasty bread to the crispy bacon topping off with my oozy eggs and Hollandaise sauce, I definitely cleaned my plate. Oh, and the brunch potatoes came with it, too, but I didn't care for more carbs.
So, this was definitely a contender for the best Eggs Benedict. Overall, the meal was good. Our waitress was sweet even though she looked like she was overworked and stressed out. After I saw that my friend (who also ordered the same thing) had some fruits on her plate, I requested it, too, JUST BECAUSE, I wanted something fresh to bite into after such an intensely big meal. Our waitress was sweet to bring out the "garnish" - a plate of fruits for me. For some Yelpers that complain about parking, I just valet my car and got my ticket stamped. Prices can be high ($14.99), but you're getting a lot of food. Next time, I want to try their pastries IF I don't overstuff myself again. -

This a review for their cakes, which are delicious and tasty! And they use high quality chocolate.
