Been buying their baguettes at the farmers market in the Old Market area over the summer. There is no equal...seriously. Take all other baguettes and use them for something simple like french toast. I routinely make the drive to their Dundee location in the off season for the baguettes alone. There are two styles, traditional and modern (I think). Have only had the traditional however. They also make fantastic croissants but are a bit pricey so if trying to buy for a large group it may break the bank. Still worth the money honestly, and I still buy five croissants and two baguettes on every trip.

My daughter is actually the first person in our family to actually try anything from here. In school, they went here on a field trip and since then, she's been begging me to take her there everyday after school. One day, I gave in and took her there. The Bread Oven is a small little bread shop that sells breads, croissants, and other baked goods. They also serve coffee and specialty coffees as well.
We ordered some of the chocolate croissants and the palm leaf cookies. They were really tasty! I love croissants and chocolate and combined in their chocolate croissant, heaven! We went once in the morning as well, and I must say that their pastries do taste better in the morning, but they're not bad in the afternoon as well.
The people who work here also make this place a great place to go. They are so friendly, it just makes you always want to come back! They don't make you feel rushed or as if you're stopping them from doing something.
Now, we frequent the bread oven not only to get the daughter a snack after school, but to curb my cravings for chocolate and croissants! -

I love this place! I'm all about bread, and this place has the best baguettes in Omaha. Airy, crispy, a little chewy...and great flavor....mmmm, I actually just picked up one after my visit to the A.V. Sorensen library. How can you not be tempted when you are in the neighborhood!?
Only thing is it's cash or check, really, that's my only complaint. Fortunately if you are not in the neighborhood they set up at all the Farmer's Markets around town too, so you can get your fix that way as well.
Yum Yum, I'm enjoying a caprese sandwich on the bread as I type this. Delish!! -

Gotta love good bread. I haven't found bread this good anywhere else in Omaha, and that includes anything else I've seen with the word "bread" or "wheat" or "grain" or "harvest" in the name.
I've heard this place sells sandwiches. And soup. I just buy the bread. The traditional recipe rather than the modern, though the modern is also yummy. Makes a great sandwich. Actually, one baguette makes three great sandwiches.
The olive loaf is another favorite, yummy kalamata olives in a thick, chewy loaf.
The ladies in the house like the chocolate-chip croissants. I prefer the almond.
I'm getting hungry writing this. Lucky me, I have a baguette downstairs I just bought yesterday!Listed in: Regular Rotation

We live in the neighborhood and stop at the Dundee store fairly often. We almost exclusively carry out baked pastries - mostly croissants and never dine or eat in the store. They usually have regular, chocolate, raisin and almond croissants. I could be mistaken, but this morning it appeared that only the chocolate type were freshly baked and the raisin and almond were older. Perhaps not day old, but certainly not fresh. It was just after 8 and maybe other shoppers got all of the palmiers as there were none left. Oh well, it was Sunday morning...
My wife has started baking bread, but after many attempts she can't even come close - sorry K. Bread is obviously a fine art. You can't beat the bread, althougha bit pricey.
While I would give them a "3" today, because on my longer term experience they get an overall "4". -

Just a quick flight over from where I live and worth every wing flap, love the chocolate croissants.

From the look of this place on the outside, I expected the inside to be like a day-old bakery selling stale croutons under fluorescent lighting.
My assumptions were so far from the truth. This place is adorable! They sell amazing bread and sandwiches. I've heard rumors about how delicious the chocolate croissants are, but I have yet to try them.
Not only does the Bread Oven sell yummy fresh baked bread, but as an added bonus, when you support the Bread Oven, you can feel good about supporting a local business. In fact, I encourage you all to join me in my boycott against the Subway in Dundee.
The next time you find yourself in Dundee and in need of a quick sandwich, leave the $5 footlongs for Jared and head on down to the Bread Oven instead for a great sandwich that is sure to satisfy!

I was complaining about not being able to find good baguette in Omaha when someone recommended I stop my searches and go straight to The Bread Oven. So I did. I entered mildly skeptical, the collage of all things French hanging off the wall had me perplexed and trying to decide wether I found it offensive or charming. A little of both, maybe. I looked around for awhile, not sure if this was the place for me. And then, gasp, des chocolatines! I took two for my roommates, and then proceeded to interrgorate them on their bread making. They had all the right answers. Most of all, they seemed to have poured their hearts and souls into their breads and baked goods, and I couldn't be more impressed. They gave me a baguette! and I paid for the two very reasonably priced chocolatines. They told me to come by and let them know what I'd thought of the bread.
Thanks, bread oven, I'll be sure to do that, and thanks for taking pity on a French girl's quest for good bread in America. I'll be sure to return to try some of the appetizing lunch options and for more baguette! -

Yum Yum Yum!
Bread oven is delicious. I had heard all about this place and never ventured in. One day I wanted to get a sandwich and decided to stop by the Bread Oven for one to see what I could find. I got a great sandwich on a baguette and it came with a side of noodle salad. I was really impressed. Not to mention I got to look around while I waited for my food.
I was impressed by the selection of breads and other goods they carry. The prices are a little much but keeping in mind the quality and the fact they're local I don't mind spending a little more to treat myself.

Let me start by saying the food was great! I had a prosciutto sandwich on a baguette.
There was a shoe polish sign on the window that read "tailgate in style". If you did "tailgate in style" at this place, get ready to take out a loan.
The employees were very nice, friendly and attentive. The only hang-up was our coffee, we had to ask for it after we ordered. We were in no hurry, so it did not matter.
I am not familiar with this place, we just yelped on our way to MN from Kansas City. I think their main business is bread for restaurants. There were numerous cook/chef characters that came in for bread as we waited for our food.
Overall a great lunch spot, but a bit of a reach in the pocket. Lots of good looking bread and rolls. They were all out of croissants. They must be good. -

I give the bread 5 stars but due to service, I give have to give an overall of 4. I love their bread. When I lived in the neighborhood, I would often walk here when I got home from work and we would enjoy their bread with dinner. Great, crusty French baguettes. They have several selections to choose from. I have only had the desserts once, but they were great. The almond croissant is incredible. Chocolate good. You have to watch the almont croissants though--we have had them several times very overdone and the almond filling is dry and ruined.
THe staff is usually sitting down reading at at table when I come in. The get me my bread and I pay. I guess that is all they have to do. No need for smiles or conversation.....Listed in: Owner Operated

First time to this establishment. Never going back to store bread again. I loved the walnut and raisin bread. Wished there was more walnut pieces inside. Wife loved the standard loaf. Still want to try the croissants but they were not available. Will come back another day to try different items.

Absolutely the best sandwiches I've ever found in Omaha. I'm a sandwich guy, and I promise you, the Bread Oven makes the kind that you can't stop thinking about the next day. I highly recommend either the LeBob (hot or cold, they're both great) or the Metro (a turkey sandwich on baguette which dresses sharply like a gay turkey but actually likes girl turkeys).

The best croissants.!!!!!! Better than those in France and all of Europe, at least in my opinion. So good that on my way back to Hawaii, I bought a half dozen for the plane ride to the west coast -- it didn't even last take off at the Omaha airport. Wish there was a reason to return to Omaha for the best croissants in the world.

The Bread Oven is amazing! The best French bread in town can be found there! I went to High School just a thirty second drive down the street, and I can say whenever me and my friends were in the mood for really good bread we would make the short trip up to the Bread Oven to get some coffee and baguettes and some chocolate croissants. I no go to college just 15 minutes away, and for my French class I brought a couple baguettes in to class. Everyone loved it! My French professor was talking about how he knew the original owner and how he really had a passion for bread making, sadly he emigrated back to France but the passion still remains. No better place to go for bread than here.

Bread oven offers a good assortment of pastry and bread items. Their crossants are some of my favorites... It's suprisingly hard to find a decent crossant with just the right mix of flaky and buttery, but Bread Oven delivers just that. We stopped by this morning in hopes of a breakfast of some sort, but while they do offer sandwiches starting at 11am, no breakfast sandies were to be found.
We left with two coffees, two crossants (one chocolate chip), for $9. Seemed a little expensive as far as some other local bakeries go, but excellent food. Can't say I recommend the coffee though... even now as I sit here sipping it out of caffiene-necessity, I'm not really enjoying it - but we're remodeling the kitchen and I'm not sure where my coffee pot is right now. Aah such is life.
Oh and bread oven boasts one of the only business-related parking lots in dundee. Though at 7:30am on Saturday morning parking is not an issue. -

Probably the most authentic french bread I've found here in Omaha. Their sandwiches are also great for a quick lunch!

based on the exterior, and interior too actually, of this shop i had low expectations.
my friend said they had awesome soup and i was in the area, so i gave them a try.
wow! the soup was a-maz-ing! i wish they would offer broth based soups along with the heavier cream and cheese ones they offer.
when i went in the manager was training a new employee and actually gave me a free sandwich that they that practiced making-so so good! they said it was a $9. sandwich. kinda pricey for me but it was really good. their menus could use a little work. i didn't know they sold anything besides baguettes. oh well.
i wanted more from the atmosphere. i think its a nice concept with a great product and it got lots of potential, maybe they should hire a design team to help?
they don't take anything except cash or check, so be prepared if you are a card swiper like me. -

The bread and desserts here are very good, but a little pricey compared to some other local family bakeries. The quality of the bread is quite good, and I often buy baguettes here to make garlic bread. Good stuff.
