The Breadfruit tree is such a hidden gem. Really removed from the hustle and bustle of all that is Stockton, you can have a little getaway here without having to drive very far.
On weekends there is often is outdoor music, and food is DIVINE. Try the combo peleau, really yummy! Menu is different every week so you can always try something different and I've never been disappointed. Can't go wrong with the rum punch, it's strong and sweet-great for summer nights.
Just a note: Do make reservations for peek dinner days/hours. It can get crowded sometimes, so outdoor seating is best for me personally. (the view isnt a bad one either!) Go with intention of waiting a while depending on the time of night there can be a wait- I usually go with a group of people, dance, drink, enjoy the ambiance and time flies! -

Well worth the $$. This place is small and quaint with visions in the form of murals covering every wall. Service is amazing the Chef/Owner is remarkably friendly and makes you feel that you have visited his home on the islands. You can get the food made to specifics when it comes to mild, medium or hot. Since this is French-Caribean food do not expect portions to be hugely oversized or simply skimpy either. Portions are decent sizes. The flavors in the food are breath taking in fact I was thinking of ways to kidnap the chef and bring him home to cook! By the way the menu changes frequently so be open to change.
Everything is served fresh and is not from a frozen package so start with the Jungle Punch and stay a while, enjoy your company while your food is prepared.
The BEST:
- Sweet Chili Fish
- Jungle Punch a.k.a "jungle juice" one cup is all you need to start a party right!
- Jerk Chicken
- Gumbo (mixed Seafood & Sausage)
Specs:
- Fantastic Food
- Don't be cheap and you won't be sad
- Expect menu changes during multiple visits
- Great friendly service
- The place is small ---- MAKE RESERVATIONS!!! -

My parents discovered the Breadfruit Tree long before I did. I absolutely love this place and my only two qualms with it is: I wish it was bigger because it can get crowded when the weather is nice and also that it is a season restaurant.
In regards to the menu I have had each type of Peleau that they offer and all of them were delicious. I have also tried the pork, oxtail, goat, and both of the regular desserts. All were delicious, the portions large and the staff more than gracious and helpful. This is a really unique place in an city that seems to be overrun with Italian and Sushi joints. -

Such great, flavorful food. It's tucked away right on the delta. Reasonably priced. It is pretty quiet. I had the paella- a special for the day and it was flavorful. The portion was huge, I think it lasted me for three meals. We also enjoyed a ton of sangria- yumm! I would definitely go back.
