Whenever I am home in San Diego, the place I come to train jiu jitsu (Brazilian) is BJJ Unlimited. I did some research on the Internet to see which location was most convenient for me, and it ended up to be them, and I'm glad. Andrew, the instructor, is such a nice, knowledgeable guy and fosters an environment for learning and growth as a fighter. I've been here more than a dozen times, and there's no reason I'd go anywhere else.
The facility by the way, is fairly spacious, has decent class sizes, and the mats are on a spring-loaded surface. AWESOME! -

I started training here in 2007, just a few months after the school opened. I've never been a fan of gyms and I wanted to do something to keep in shape, with the bonus of learning to defend myself. Even though the school has grown since those first few months, there remains a strong sense of family here. This school encourages you to train hard in a clean, safe environment.
Andrew Eidson (the owner) is a black belt in both Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Judo, and he teaches all the classes himself. This guy is dedicated to his students. Having spent some time at other schools where purple or brown belts do most of the teaching, I definitely appreciate the level of instruction here.
There's a wide range of students and ages here. Whether you're looking to train for competition or just for exercise and fun, you'll find what you're looking for. The mat space is huge, this isn't a hole in the wall like some schools in San Diego. I also like the fact that the place is air conditioned!
Whether you're new to the sport or an advanced belt, I don't think you can go wrong giving this place a try. -

I've been to a few Jiu Jitsu schools before and you really have to understand the culture before you commit to becoming a member. BJJ Unlimited is one of those schools that gives warm welcomes and truly tries to teach the sport and in a friendly environment. You don't have to worry about egos or tough guys trying to intimidate the whole class.
The sensei is a long time student of both Jiu Jitsu and Judo. He cares about teaching his students and even enjoys teaching his kids classes. The classes are now a decent size so you meet many new people and have a wide range of talent in the room.
Did I mention that Jiu Jitsu is also a very good way to get in shape and good change of pace from the regular old gym routine? You can come in for a free class to see if it fits you. It will be worth it. -

This is one of those places where you truly leave your ego at the door. If you want to learn Jiu Jitsu to be a total douche-bag and fight with people between UFC rounds, this is not the place to go. You will truly learn Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) the way it was meant to be taught both gi and non gi. Classes are fairly small so there is plenty of mat space and individual attention. It's almost like a private lesson.
All the students are respectful and are taught well by Sinsei Andrew Eidson. I think a very important aspect of this place is the kids team. There are not a lot of places who teach children. Andrew is very patient with the kids and teaches BJJ and discipline effectively.
The location is currently in a transition phase because they plan to move to a larger facility in the summertime. Also, in terms of price, this place is not the cheapest place to learn BJJ but it isn't the most expensive either. The teaching quality will ensure you get your money's worth. -

The place is awesome, and I could not have asked for a better place to train. Everyone is friendly and focused helping you improve your game. The facility is sparkly clean and the mats are all springy so it helps a lot when learning take downs. The head instructor really helps you focus on aspects that you need to work on without being a jerk. You are treated as part of the family as soon as you walk through the door. I came in with the free guest class, and I signed up that same day.

You will be hard pressed to find anything that comes close to the dedication and passion for Brazilian Ju Jitsu and everything it stands for.
Andrew is amazing with the students, young and old. My son has been with Andrew for almost one year and has learned to push himself, strive for excellence and respect his peers at all times. The families that attend are a close knit group. Our time here has been an entirely positive experience. -

First off, I'm a grown ass man. I'm married, work, and go to school full time so its hard for me to see myself spending a bunch of money at a Jiu Jitsu school that I can only attend twice a week. BJJ Unlimited has by far the best schedule of classes in San Diego. You could train 11 times in one week if you really wanted.
The classes are well balanced in gi/no gi training and you get a great instruction on throws(Andrew is also a BB in Judo). The class environment is relaxed and very friendly.
One of my biggest concerns was being comfortable in a new school, I hate being the new guy. Andrew goes above and beyond to make you feel welcome and will give you the gi off his back literally. A lot of parents and their kids are enrolled and its heartwarming see a family's growth together within the school. Great atmosphere. -

I've been training at Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Unlimited now for just over a month.
I've been to many different gyms and dojos over the years in San Diego and abroad as well (I've even trained Tae-Kwan-do for four years and made it to a national championship finishing in 4th) but NOTHING compares to "BRAZILIAN JIU JITSU UNLIMITED".
At First I was a little intimidated because all the students (even the person who signed up 2 weeks before me) were REALLY GOOD! I was thinking that all the higher belts were gonna go on a ego trip and beat on the new guy (which has happened to me at different BJJ locations), but it was the exact opposite, They ALL accepted me, and teach me with the knowledge they have acquired here.
But both the teachers and students made me feel comfortable, they understand that before you learn to run you need to learn how to stand. After my first class I was hooked, Andrew is one of the most patient, caring and knowledgeable teachers I have ever had the privilege to call "Sensei" (giving me advice on and off the mats).
The instructions are clear, the technique is solid, and the results are amazing. The progress I make in every lesson is a Leap, not a jump. And I have only BJJ unlimited to thank for it.
The Dojo is clean, big and a perfect environment for the training, plus the entire gym is mats that are on a spring-loaded surface so you know its legit.
It's also a place where we like to sit after practice and just chat with each other, adding to the fun and making new friends that soon become family.
Now on another note, I've been in the armed forces for 3 years and I know what it's like to get your heart rate up. If I know anyone who wants to burn off a few pounds I'd send him here. Once you've rolled around the mats for 6 minutes you'll understand :)
I look forward to climbing the ranks from white to black and I know that the best place to do that is at BJJ unlimited. Boys & girls, both young and old, this is the place to be!
Hope to see you at class
