My absolute favorite place to eat in Hartford.

The steak is always delicious. Every single time. The rotating sides always provide some variety although the meats are truly the heart of this place. Everything is perfectly cooked and seasoned, including the chicken hearts, which I never thought I would actually try.

Friendly people, excellent food, but sometimes hard to park.

I've been here a few times already always during lunch hours, and they seemed busy which is key for rodizio to ensure meat freshness. All times I've been there were for Rodizio. I have not ordered off the menu yet.
The rodizio is by the pound, and includes a self service buffet. The prices seem reasonable for what you get. I'm not too crazy about their buffet. They don't have a great selection, and a few items that I had I liked while others not so much. The meats were good and seasoned. I usually get the ribs, sirloin and lamb and they have always been juicy and tasty.
Service is ok. They don't check on you to see if everything is ok, or if you'd like another drink you have to ask, which I'm ok with.
For the price, I think this place is pretty reasonable. I've taken a few customers here and they also seemed to enjoy. I always get them to try the Guarana Antartica, a Brazilian fruit soda drink.
I'd recommend this place to a friend.

Meat meat meat! Their grilled meats are sooo good! I love all of their grilled meats. I think the sausages and chicken wrapped in bacon are my faves! I always order take out because I wasn't really impressed with their non-meat items. Staff very nice and friendly.

Great for take out. Then I cook white rice at home...Yum! :)

I visited the Brazil Grill recently just after returning home from California, and it was A-OK. My friend would have given it 4 or 5 stars, but I visit Brazil once a year for 3 or 4 weeks and my perception of a Brasilian Grill by the kilo is a bit jaded. I wish I could review Porcao Rios on Flamingo Bay in Rio de Janiero or Gorota de Ipanema in Rio, but I can't. If you have never been to Brazil, like my friend, you will love the place. Why? It's not fancy, it's inexpensive, and the meats are pretty good. Since you pay by the pound, you are responsible for your bill. I didn't find the non meats on the buffet particularly exciting so I had a few veggies and rice, and headed toward the meat. I asked for mal passada, very rare, and the best I could get was medium rare. My friend loved his stuff. I had top sirloin, pork tenderloin, and lamb on my first visit to the scale and added another sirloin and veggies to the next. I had a Brasilian Flan for dessert and it was $2.66. My friend had a bit more than I did. I had forgotten that Brazilians tend to use a lot of salt on the outside to keep the moisture on the inside, and I had some outside cuts. Salt is kryptonite to me, so I suffered for it. On my second cut I asked for an interior cut and it was better. The problem for me was that the meats on the spigots are too small for my taste so most of the cuts are outside pieces. I would love to see a whole tenderloin on a spigot as I see in Brazil, but it was not to be. Again, my friend didn't complain about the salt at all. He even added salt to his dish, while I silently groaned. Heart attack city, as I added pepper. My total bill was $17.02 including the flan. Not bad. I had a decent time there and even talked about some of favorite haunts in Sao Paulo with the guy at the scale. My friends bill was $19.10 without dessert. You pay for what you eat; very democratic.

I frequent this place especially when i'm in need of some protein. I really enjoy being super hungry and not worrying about waiting for food to be prepared. Grab a plate, grab your sides, get some awesome skewered meat and dig in! This is definitely a local hidden gem.

Very good joint in Hartford. Not fancy, simple place where you don't feel rushed. Good selection of meat and the buffet is not bad: rice, salads, stews, Ox tail,...
The beef ribs weren't cooked and was chewy the 1st time I had it, but was better the 2nd time.
Don't be turn off by the way this restaurant charges. (they charge by the plate weight). Actually it is very reasonable! we were 3 good eaters, each one had of us, had 3 big full plates and soft drinks for only $86.
I'll definitely go back to Brazil Grill on my next trip to Hartford Area.

Brazil Grill is definitely a diamond in the rough. When you visit, you really have to look for it. It's best described as a hole in the wall: it's small and a little run down, but don't be fooled... the food is absolutely excellent!

The diced vegetable medley they have on the buffet must be seasoned with the spices of heaven -- it is SO freakin' good. And don't even get me started on the meats fresh from the rotisserie... or, do! Gotta say, the chicken hearts are my favorite. They are consistently cooked well, while some of the other meats can be hit or miss (the pork tenderloin has been dry a few of the times I've gone). They also offer a wide variety of beverages including some imported juices. Try the fresh cashew nectar if you're feeling like a hummingbird. Yum yum!

A few miscellaneous notes: You pay per pound and the prices are very fair. The seating area is smallish and there are lots of TVs broadcasting in Portuguese, so you can get your daily dose of culture. In my opinion, Brazil Grill is a must visit if you're into that sort of thing.

P.S. Their slogan is "Brazil Grill: Closer than Brazil." Am I the only one who finds that delightfully hilarious?

FOOD:  this is a build your own plate restaurant, with side dishes and a few main courses pre-made in the steamers (these are all generally quite good), the main course meats off the skewers that are cut to order, and drinks/desserts.  I was impressed with the quality of the pre-made food, thought the meat was high-quality and perfectly seasoned, and enjoyed one of the best restaurant flans I've ever had for dessert.

SERVICE:  is personable and friendly with limited table interaction.  The guy at the meat station will make helpful suggestions.  Parking is a little tight in their lot at times, but there is the street option or a lot across the way.  Credit cards are accepted for purchases over $10.

AMBIANCE:  is very casual and relaxed.  The place is not fancy, but features several flat screen TVs usually running Brazilian programming.  There are plenty of tables and it's a good place to take a group.

VALUE:  is excellent for the variety and quality of food that you get.  Even though they charge by the pound, the rate is very reasonable and you can fill up, will drink and dessert for about $15 dollars!

Really like this place.  You can go in day and night and get a no-frills great meal. Fresh salads , soups, bean dishes,  vegetables (especially the Brasil style Collard Greens  And of course the roast while you watch meats.   All meats are great from Chicken hearts to Lamb or if your feeling a little spice, the sausages.  Great juices and deserts as well.  The only thing that sucks is that you may get the "Gringo price-per-pound"  Which you may get charged a higher rate per pound w/o knowing.  Mr. Joe Whitey over here Totally got the gringo rate. ...Dislike. but go anyways

Sirloin was very good, chicken wings were good,The pork tenderloin was tasty as was the pork sausage. but chicken hearts were very tough, bacon wrapped and regular chicken breast was very very dry. All meats were very well seasoned but some as mentioned were dry. I don't believe i will go back. Plates of just meat alone fairly stacked cost $8-$9 so pricing was decent just wish product was better

    Yum!

I'd been craving Brazilian barbecue for a few months and my companion and I finally got a chance to calm the craving. I'd done a bit of yelp research beforehand and there was another place (Braza) that came up in my search that was all-you-can-eat but didn't have great reviews. This place had great reviews though, so even though it was a per-pound place, we headed here.

We grabbed ourselves some plates and started filling them up at the buffet area. There was a shrimp risotto that we both loved because of its flavor and texture. It reminded me of paella a bit. There were a bunch of other dishes too, like tortellini, noodles, rice, vegetables, salad, beans, etc. After that, we went to the meat station. There was a list of what was available and we read through and then started requesting. As we asked for what we wanted, the guy grabbed skewers from the oven, sliced off as much as we asked for, and then put the meat on our plates. We ended up trying the sirloin, beef short ribs, pork sausage, and chicken with bacon. Everything was really delicious.

Then we took our plates to the weigh station where they weighed our plates (don't worry, the scale was at a negative weight to zero out the mass of the plate) and paid before we sat down. They have a few beers and wines available as well as juices and sodas. We then sat ourselves in the seating area and enjoyed our food. This place worked out really well because we were full after eating our single plates, and each plate was under $10! What a bargain. We didn't try any of the desserts since we were stuffed, but they had some cakes which looked yummy as well as rice pudding, which looked really good.

There were huge flat screens all over the place with telenovelas playing, which was fun to watch. And there was plenty of seating.

Anyway, I'd definitely recommend this place.

Making our way around the world of CT, we land in Brazil. A simply decorated place with Brazilian TV blaring in the background this time. A long line of patrons at the cash register salivating over their pile of meat on plates.

Backup...first you pick up a plate and carefully pile on one side some feijoada, fried potatoes/fries, assorted salad etc. Then you follow your nose to the open oven with a dozen skewers of assorted churrascaria. OK pile on the other side of the plate: chicken hearts (my fave), bacon wrapped chicken, beef ribs, pork loin, pork sausage, fried chicken wings. (The lamb was overcooked on the outside so I didn't go for it.)

The guy at the counter weights your heavy plate. I brace myself for a hefty bill. What do you mean that plate and a cup of passion fruit juice costs only $8.84! If that was a miscalibrated scale, I did not want to tell him.
My friends' plates were all between $9-11.

We saw the same guy carrying a plate of large fried Brazilian balls to the table next to us. He said they were called "coxinha" (Brazilian chicken croquettes) and ordered some for us. Scrumpcious balls! You can find the recipe here:
    http://southamericanfo...

We had an extra stomach pouch for dessert so we tried the flan, passion fruit mousse, and coconut pudding. That was about $3 per dessert (all yummy).

We should have come here for Mardi Gras the following week. They had fliers up about Carnivale. I heard too that the owner is going to open another Brazil Grill in Hartford. More Churrascaria!

Whenever we tell people that we "went to a Brazilian BBQ place," they always think that we went to Braza.  I've been to Braza a couple times and the quality of the food is probably comparable, but the value is on a completely different level.

At first, I always got food from the "buffet" just so I got better pricing on the meat, but after a couple trips, I've grown to appreciate the variety and the flavor of the extra food they offer.

The meat is always pretty good, if not a little salty.  I love the lamb there!  The most amazing part of getting meat there, is often they'll cut off the fat, and if you get ribs, they cut the bones out!  I usually avoid getting ribs, because I don't want the dead weight, but they take care of that for me!

They also have some desserts and what look like Brazilian sodas.  I'm usually too full to get desert from there, but they look really good.  I've never tried the pizza.

The food here is probably 3-4 stars, but with the pricing and how much food you get in comparison with a similar restaurant, I feel that bumps this up to 5.

    Dee-freaking-licious!

When you walk in go to your left and grab a plate. There's a small buffet cove that serves beans and rice, some veggies bound with yuca root, some awesome chicken dishes, and other sides. Hold back and only grab a spoonful of one or two because next you move to the left side of the front counter where the barbecue guy is tending the smoke pit and a dozen or so giant meat skewers.

There will be a list of available meats you can pick from. It changes slightly but typical foods are: bacon wrapped sirloin or chicken, lamb, chicken hearts (!), sausage, and more. All of it has been slow smoked to salty perfection. You take what you want and move rightward to the scale... Yes, you pay by the pound and as others have noted the prices AND quality blow  Braza's clean out of the water.

At the final counter you can order from several juices, guarana soda (!), or beer, yes I said beer. They have flan, a few other desserts, and something you may miss but shouldn't leave without trying, the coxhina (pronounced kinda like co-shee-na). The coxhina is like a Brazilian chicken croquette wrapped in a delicious potato dumpling. Easily the most delicious foodstuff I've found all year.

I'm sure there are a host of awesome things I didn't mention, but that should get you started.

Oh and parking sucks, but there's a lot directly across the street if you can't park in front.

Once in a while, nothing will satisfy, save for gross quantities of meat.  In these cases, avoid Braza and visit Brazil Grill.  I would take very little from the prepared foods, and very much from the meat skewers.  The bonus is that you can get all the meat you want at once.  And while it's priced by the pound, you'll pay about 1/3 what you will at Braza...unless you can put away four pounds of meat.

The meat is well and simply prepared.  Good meat needs but salt.  This is good meat.

And the guy who runs the place is ultra friendly.  Unlike the management of Braza, who seem to have undergone some sort of frontal lobotomy pact.  Have a grape soda or have a beer.  Here's to the good life!

This place is as good as it gets. The buffet has some good items, like rice, pink beans, and tortellini. But this place is all about the meat. They have about 8 different cuts of meat grilling on skewers over an open fire. You just go up to the chef and ask for whatever you want, and how much of it. Just about all of them are really good. My favorites are the sirloin, lamb, and beef rib, although there are still a couple others I am yet to try, but will soon!

I really enjoyed myself at this restaurant.  It didn't have much of the authentic Brazilian feel to it because of the way the dining was set up (get a plate, load it with food, weigh the plate and sit down, come back later to pay), but the food was definitely as authentic as it gets.  The meats were seasoned to perfection.  Every time they cut a piece of meat they put more kosher salt on it so the seasoning is absorbed through every millimeter of it.  You cannot have a bad bite of meat unless there is a hard piece of fat.  I went with a class I'm in, but it would have been a better time with friends I feel.  I'm trying to convince my friends and family to go with me some time.

Coming from a Brazilian, this place rocks! The food is great, for a quick lunch, or a night out with the family.  Authentic Brazilian food at a very low cost compared to what you would normally pay at high end resturants.

MEAT MEAT AND MORE MEAT!!  If you love MEAT, you gotta check this place out.  They have everything from Chicken wraped in bacon dipped in milk, to grilled prime rib, and everything in between.  It has a buffet style atmosphere, but with a cozy little resturant feel.  If you don't know Portuguese don't worry they speak English too.

If your a soccer fan you should check out the large projector screen TV they have playing some of the best local soccer games straight from Brazil.   The service is great, they treat you like your family.  So just like in any Brazilian family tradition come grab a plate and eat!

I love this place!  The place is set up buffet style so you only get and pay for what you want and as much as you want.  They charge about $6 a pound for their food which is incredibly reasonable.  I think the most expensive plate of food I ever got there was about $10 and I felt like I was going to explode after eating it.  All of their food is really good especially their pork sausages.

There are only 2 drawbacks.  I could never bring my vegetarian mother there and afterward you will spend the day expelling very smelly burps.

This is not your run of the mill restaurant and definitely not glamorous but what it lacks in glamor it gains in excellency of food. One part of the room is set up as a food bar with various fixings such as 2 different kinds of rice, 2 different kinds of beans, plantain, cassava fries and some sort of stew, not to mention collard green salad (different and delicious), shepherd salad and various other fixings. You get a plate by the rotisserie and choose your fixings at the end of which young to the rotisserie and choose your meat. There were chicken hearts, chicken wrapped in bacon (both excellent), 2 or 3 different cuts of pork, lamb and beef (steaks) all roasted over a pit. You can mix meats. At the end your plate is weighed and you get your utensils and a drink. We loved the cashew drink as well as the coconut water. Do leave room for the fabulous desserts. A meal for 4 average eaters including beverage and dessert was 50.00 well worth it dollars. You collect your tabs and paint the end. No table service, no tablecloths. Huge flat screen televisions on the walls playing what seemed to be a Spanish soap opera. Suspect that there were no televised soccer games that day. Did I mention that the staff was VERY friendly? Will eat her again. Fun for a large group.
