Came here through Groupon. This review is for the food, because the staff was very friendly. The place was packed and super busy, but maybe because they all came from coupons as well. So the wait was longer as expected and the food was alright, but nothing like wow, punch me in the face. If they redecorated the place, upped the quality of their food a little better, then this place could be great!

Had a groupon for a deal here. Amazing deal, the food was delcious and the service was great. Their steak was cooked exactly how we asked, the fish prepared perfectly and our waiter quick and on top of our table, no complaints whatsoever!

Review from Sasha G.
I'm not going to lie, Brazil Brazil Restaurant was NOT my first choice for dinner tonight. A "Brazilian" restaurant that feels the need to state "Brazil", not once but TWICE, in their name seems to be overcompensating for something... Like it's trying to convince itself that it does in fact sell Brazilian food. Not a good look. I'll stop personifying the restaurant now.
I was a "Joe Allen" reject tonight. Arrived at "Joe Allen" with my party (of 3) at about 5PM and was told because we didn't have reservations we would have to wait until 7PM. Ummm, how about no? We were starving and wanted food immediately. So we declined the hostess' suggestion of eating at the bar and ended up next door at Brazil Brazil. It was relatively empty- actually... it was mostly empty. A few cats and then there was us.
It was a bit strange: we were seated, given menus and were then greeted by two different waitresses at different times. It was like the later convinced the first one to give her our table... it was a bit confusing but we managed to order our grub. I ordered a blackberry martini, Fried Calamari ("Lula") as an appetizer, a meat plate entree (Churrasco: flank steak with spinach and yuca fries), and the passion fruit mousse as a dessert.
If you can't tell by now- YES I was starving. As they say- I did "eat with my eyes instead of my stomach" but can you blame me? When you're ridiculously hungry you pretty much want to order everything on the menu. :)
To start off my drink was pretty strong, at $12 a cocktail I guess they really pack in the alcohol but I prefer weaker drinks to strong-as-hell ones. I know I'm probably not the majority. The drink was good regardless but on an empty stomach I was already feeling a little buzzzzzzzzzz. Yikes! Thankfully they serve bread and butter when you first sit.
The FOOD:
The calamari was good. NOT chewy. Just in need of some salt. But it was enjoyable none the less. Oh- it was also a HUGE portion. Honestly, 3 people (with moderate appetites) can eat from this appetizer... it was THAT big.
My churrasco entree was also good! The spinach wasn't hot enough for me but the meat was juicy and perfectly charred- delicious! The yuca fries were perfectly crispy on the outside but soft and fluffy on the inside, as they should be. The steak was also adorned with roasted garlic cloves. Who doesn't LOVE roasted garlic? If you don't, go cry in the corner feeling sorry for yourself.
The passion fruit mousse was "MEH"... mediocre at best. Mousse is suppose to be light and airy but this was definitely a pudding- very heavy and well, pudding-like! Skip this dessert here; for the PERFECT passion fruit mousse please visit: http://www.yelp.com/bi... Trust me!
Overall, I enjoyed 3 course meal here! Don't know why they have such bad reviews... the service was great. The busboys were a bit strange though. As if they really wanted you to be done with your food... looking at my plate and asking me if I was done more than once. Can't I take a break from eating, jeez! But it didn't bother me ENOUGH to stop me from ever setting foot inside Brazil Brazil again.Listed in: Date Night, Times Square ADDICTS.

Nice suprise !!! We got different meals w/ flavor explosion !! Everthing had a unique taste . all for of us in our group had very different items . Shrimp in coconut red sauce 5 stars, beef strognoff +++, chicken w/heart of palm & cream sauce to name a few.
Also there were people of Brazilian decent eating & drinking , which makes any ethnic restaurant a plus for tourists . The only little problem , was the waiter hovering over us , a bit to much. But food was worth it -

I love the food in this place! There's a catch though, you should always be in the bar area and order from the bar menu, that has similar dishes with smaller portions, however is half the price ($10-$12) for the tilapia or churrasco compared to the restaurant menu.
During Summer time it can get hot as they don't have full AC in the bar, but with a $4 Caipirinha you'll get by. Desserts are nice but a little overpriced ($7-$8) considering the food prices and the size of the portion. -

I went to Brazil Brazil, Groupon in hand, expecting the worse. My groupon entitled me and my guest to; 2 appetizers, 2 entrees and 2 glasses of wine. The entire meal was tasty and delicious. The service was equally great granted the restaurant wasn't too crowded. (I hope the service is usually great regardless of how crowded the restaurant is) I use groupons often and have noticed that some restaurants would serve groupon customers a much smaller meal portion than they normally serve, but would collect tax and gratuity based on the full portion size price. This wasn't the case here, the portions were regular size and we were so full from the appetizers and the main course we couldn't even think of having desert. I came expecting the worse but instead came away very happy and pleased. The food and service was great. Will definitely go back and I certainly I recommend going here.

The food was great. I ordered shrimp in coconut and it was amazing. Little overpriced in my opinion. You can get great good for cheaper. I also had the fried bananas and tried some of the food my friend got. All good tasting. I am not a fan of there happy hour rules and regulations though.
Not sure if i'll be back, but u never know! -

Wonderful Service, great food. For $25.00 per person, the prefix menu was the best bargain. We left the restaurant more than full and the service was amazing. For a Saturday night, we were shown a special table and given the most amazing service. Loved it!

Not great food and the drinks are overpriced. I ordered the Feijoada (Brazil's National Dish) and it was OK, nothing spectacular. For almost $22, it was a stew with mostly black beans. They could have been a bit more generous with the sausage and beef considering the price since I highly doubt they were using the best cuts. The service was not great. Our waiter was extremely difficult to track down as he often disappeared for extended periods of time.
If everything on the menu was 50% less, it would be a great place! -

I saw this place walking down once but ended up trying it again at later date. The food was good but the service really is bad.
-they put 2 of us under a air conditioning vent. When we asked if they could push the vent up or move us, never happened. Ate w/ my jacket on the entire time.
-our table wasnt even completely setup. One had a normal setting, while my silverware was wrapped in a napkin.
-I saw a waiter PICKING HIS NOSE when he walked by
-girlfriend didnt get her caesar salad till 10 min after we placed our order. For a salad that is a really long time, especially if the salad dressing tasted like it came straight from the bottle.
-they brought out the side of fried bananas as an appetizer when we wanted it as a side to our entrees. We took it anyway since I was afraid if they messed this up, they'd probably spit in our food.
-After the bananas came out, it wasnt until another 20 min for the food to arrive. Really shouldnt take a fried piece of beef and a brazilian version of shephards pie that long to cook since we ordered over 30 min ago!! Although the food came and was really good. The a/c vent blowing cooled our food down quicker.
-girlfriend never got her dessert until we told the waiter we're missing it.
I dont expect service to knock my socks off, but I expect some more competant service. They should have been much more attentive 1) we're paying customers 2) the place was about 50% empty. Granted it was right by times square and theater district, this place was just a bomb. I think I left a tip just out of habit. despite it being less than 15% -

In need of a caipirinha, I stopped into Brazil Brazil one night with some friends. I ordered some bacalhau, relaxed under a whirring air condition in the humid pseudo-outdoor seating area in the back and proceeded to explain that "this isn't the place I was talking about", referring to an earlier conversation where I raved about a Brazilian joint on 46th...
The food isn't very good, the actual seating area feels a bit lacking, but the service was alright. Which is hit or miss, it seems. We weren't very impressed, but some of the positive reviews make me want to try it one more time... -

This was my second time at the restaurant, and I really wanted to try their happy hour $4 caipirinha. I'm Brazilian, and a caipirinha would go really well with a Saturday late lunch.
Although the restaurant was empty, they would not allow us to try the happy hour while sitting outside. The caipirinha cost $9.50 outside. What the heck? 2 feet away , same server and nobody else at the restaurant. Oh well, they sold zero caipirinhas. Good luck with that.
I had the picanha, which was overpriced at $24 and very thin (3 slices).
The place was OK, nothing too special. Service was OK as well.
Did I say nothing special about anything there? -
Review from Sandy C.
Walked along 9th avenue and turned onto Restaurant Row and decided to give this place a try. I thought it would've been more crowded on a Friday night, but it wasn't. There were live music by the bar, which was pretty neat. They were singing birthday songs for a birthday group. It's a pretty neat place for a date. If you look closely there's a lot of misspells on the menu, but it's probably just me being anal.
For appetizers I've tried the linguica frita mandioca (fried brazilian sausage and yuca), which was pretty good. I loved the yuca more than the sausage, not that the sausage was bad. The fried calamari was okay. I had the guava juice and I really liked it. My friend had the paella (shrimp, fish, mussels, scalops, clams, calamari, mixed with saffron rice), which I've tried and it was okay. I had the picancha na chapa (sizzling grilled top sirloin), which was okay and I thought it would've been a bigger portion. The black beans with rice was okay too, but the black beans was a little watered down I guess. -

We eat here each time we come to NYC! (3-5 times/yr.)
This is a great place for the meat lover! Always consistent, service is good, friendly....Food prep is very good, not over cooked like so many!
Give it a try! -
Review from Jacob Y.
I had some friends from Texas visiting this past week, and strolled around Hells Kitchen before we stumbled onto this restaurant on 46th Street. What caught our attention? The BRIGHT yellow sign and the menu that showed reasonable options for steak. So without hesitation, we decided to give it a whirl.
Once seated, we decided to order an appetizer of fried sausage and yucca. The verdict...very good and not overly greasy.
For dinner, I had a churrasco steak, which was outstanding. One of my friends had a steak also, which he said was good. The other opted for a pasta dish, which she enjoyed very much.
The downside? The mojito was not good at all...and the service was somewhat pushy.
Too bad that I couldn't give this place a higher rating, as the food was quite good! -

It's a nice place for brazilian food but if you're not looking for a churrascaria, this is great!
The capirinha's were good as well as the coconut sorbet. The service was slow at first but it picked up and improved quickly. He was very attentive and friendly.
I'd like to give 3.5 stars since it's better than OK but not quite great. -

I have to say I was very leery of this place after reading the reviews. However, they were one of the few places in the immediate area that could accommodate my group of 29 people with a more extensive pre-fixe menu. When I called to make the reservation, the woman was extremely friendly and helpful. She was more than accommodating and I was hopeful that the experience would be good. When I arrived Saturday to join the rest of the group, I was wonderfully surprised at how lovely everything was. They sectioned off the entire back greenroom/patio/private room for our group and had 3 waiters that serviced us. They were all wonderful and were very attentive. The food - excellent salads, and everyone loved their entrees. I had a simple chicken dish but for those who went with some traditional Portuguese/Brazilian meals, they were not disappointed. I would definitely return again - group in tow!

Review from Gina F.
My husband & I chose this restaurant on a whim. We were walking around, looking for a nice little place to enjoy our 1st anniversary dinner. As we were in town for the New York Comic Con, we had to play things a little loose since we didn't know what events or parties might come up and at what time, As every place we've ever eaten in NYC has been delicious, we really thought we couldn't go wrong. But we could. And we did
We were recruited by the host, who was standing outside trying to encourage people to come in and dine. Not uncommon, but since it looked charming & my husband loves Brazilian food, we decided to give it a whirl. We were seated on the patio, which is cute & great for people watching.
Our server came up almost immediately to ask if we wanted water, which we did. He brought it quickly and asked if we were ready to order. As we had been sitting only about 1-2 minutes, we'd had next to no time to review the menu. He said ok & walked away without asking for a drink order. Bizarre, considering that's usually the thing you ask for first. He came back 2-3 minutes later and asked if we were ready again. We're trying to enjoy a night out--why was he rushing us? We felt as though he was trying to turn the table before we'd even eaten. We said we needed a couple minutes, and as he turned to go we had to stop him & let him know that we could place a drink order. He took the drink order & maybe 10 minutes later the bus boy brought our drinks. Within a minute or 2 another person came to take our order. It had been over 10 minutes since we'd seen our original server and this person appeared to be a host or manager (no apron). We gave our order to him and waited. And waited. And waited. They must have been growing the greens for my salad or aging the bleu cheese. Finally, after 30 minutes of empty drinks, empty water, and absolutely 0 server attention, a bus boy brought our entrees. My salad had totally been forgotten. Disappointed, I told him my salad had never come. He offered to check & I told him to just cancel it.
We started our food, only to find it completely mediocre. The palm heart ravioli were certainly nothing to write home about. It was a fairly bland dish. My husband"s medium rare tuna steak turned out to be a very, very dry well done. Since he had only a sandwich while working at the con all day and was nearly delirious with hunger by the time our food came, he just ate it. At this point, we still have not seen our server since the 2nd time he approached to take our order around 40 minutes earlier. We'd had nothing to drink for quite a while. Oddly, the tables around us seemed well tended to. Finally, he barely approaches our table, literally with his side to us, kind of facing me with a glance over his shoulder to my husband. "Everything is good?" And then starts to walk away. We stopped him and ordered another round. When that round hadn't appeared 10 minutes later (even though we'd seen the waiter come to our section and avoid us), I went to the host and asked for a manager, explaining a little of what had transpired thus far. I mean, had we offended the waiter by not ordering as soon as we sat? Because he was acting inconvenienced by having to wait on us.
Another server came over & tried to make excuses about them being busy, but if that's the case, why is your host out recruiting more business off the street? Not to mention that I doubt that's the first time the place had been busy on a Saturday night-I mean, come on! She bought us a round & took 10% off the bill. While we were speaking to her, the surly server finally, magically appeared with our drinks. Shortly after, the actual manager came up & we told her it was fine & we had spoken to someone already. Later a 3rd person, the guy who had taken our order, came up and apologized about the salad. Still, after all that, our waters were unfilled, my 2nd drink (Bailey's & coffee) was never topped off with more coffee, and we still only saw our server when we flagged him down for the bill.
I spent a long time working in service, so I have a great appreciation for excellent service, but also a forgiving attitude to someone who is clearly overwhelmed or who makes a mistake and apologizes, or to someone who's not the greatest, but still friendly and charming. This guy didn't have a redeeming quality, and quite frankly it was so upsetting to have my anniversary dinner ruined that I teared up at the table. I especially have to question the kind of service we got when my husband, the guy who takes everything in stride & rarely notices a slight, says "I feel like we must have done something to offend him." The only thing we could think of was that we hadn't ordered right away, but why should that be a problem.
Hands down the worst service I have had in any restaurant ever. I've traveled all around the U.S. & Europe and I don't think I was ever treated so poorly. -
Review from carey y.
Bradenton, FL
You'd think that maybe the fact that we were at a Brazilian restaurant, but seeing things like caesar salad and risotto on the menu would have tipped us off that we could probably find somewhere better to eat, but sadly no. We went in. We did get the outdoor table we requested, seated next to an arrangement of dusty, tacky, pastel, fake flowers on a wire pushcart. The paper tablecloth on our table was marked with the drinks of the previous diners, but did that bother us, nahhhh. We had food on our minds and could overlook stuff like that for the time being. The walls were painted a horrific shade of salmon, but still, we kept our hopes high that perhaps we would be pleasantly surprised. After all, the place was packed- with a line of people outside waiting for tables to open up.
A basket of italian bread was left for us by our gruff waiter, who pretty much just walked away when we said we'd just stick with tap water. He came back to take our orders a little while later - a goat cheese salad to share, a glass of sangria (which, incidentally wound up being the ONE remotely Brazilian thing on our table) Pasta primavera for my mother and grilled tilapia with vegetables for me. Mysteriously, on the side of my fish sat a weird pile of chickpeas and alfafa sprouts. Is THAT supposed to be Brazilian? I'm so confused. So, okay, the food was boring, but not terrible. Definitely not Brazilian though. But wait! Is it perhaps Brazilian to add some chef's hair to the broccoli? AH! That must be it! Actually. No. I don't think ANYTHING can justify or explain that. It's just F-ing GROSS. When I told the waiter about it, he simply took the plate away. No "I'm so sorry." No "Is there possibly anything else that I can bring for you?" Nope. No words at all. He did however, not charge us for the hairy broccoli, so I guess that's a plus.

The food was pretty good, and not overly expensive for the area - we each chose the prix fixe. The decor, while a bit dated, was still charming. However, the service here was not good at all. The host was pushy, the waitress seemed to disappear and the busboy followed me into the bathroom, rubbing himself and asking for my phone number. Hilarious, but not at all professional.

New York, NY
The food was tasty but it is overpriced for what you're getting. My Dad got the Feijoada and I got the shrimp in the coconut, which I thought was delicious at first but after a few bites you kind of get sick of the coconut milky flavor. The decor was cute and service was good. The leaky ceiling along the right wall was a little worrisome though.

My family and I went to this restaurant for Mother's Day. The experience was awful. The manager or waitress told my brother that the dish was not available when the rest of our food arrived. Luckily they gave him a complimentary soup. He ordered something else eventhough he was angry and not really hungry. His meal was not for free! The servers did not know whose food went where. The manager offered us complimentary tea or coffee and dessert which we didn't want. I reasoned with her, and she gave us a 30% discount on our meals. Pitiful and the food was ok! Don't go if you have more than four people since they charge you already a 18% tip if you are a party of greater than four!

New York, NY
Stopped by this place one night with a friend while strolling along restaurant row.
There was live music (a guy with a guitar singing ballads in Spanish) which was pleasant. We sat outdoors on the patio.
I had the waiter's suggestion which I think ended up being one churrasco a moda, a caesar salad and the brazil shot. The salad was a little heavy on the dressing. The meat was excellent, tender and well flavored albeit somewhat poorly paired with just fries. The shot was sweet. My friend had the polenta which was very good, portions were moderate - large.
Service was a little helter-skelter with the waiter being a little sluggish, inattentive or altogether not around at times and then right next to you filling your water glass.
The prices are on the steep side.
