Review from Siv L.
Came here with my boyfriend late on Saturday night after seeing a show nearby and dying of hunger. I had never had Brazilian food so we thought we should go in and try. We were seated quickly.
Our waiter spoke to us as if we were tourists -- he asked us how our day was (I think he thought we had a long exhausting day in Manhattan), he told us his name was Caesar but not like the salad (wasn't funny) as he pointed to Caesar salad on our menu. He tried to get me to order a glass of wine but I told him water was fine. He didn't ask if we wanted tap or bottled water but proceeded to open up a bottle of water (my bf and I didn't have the energy to interject). As I looked around, most tables also must not have asked for tap in time...
The complimentary bread was nice and warm. We started with the Camarao alho e oleo (sauteed shrimp with garlic in a white wine lemon sauce). It was yummy, and we loved the sauce and used our bread to dip. We also ordered the Linguica frita com mandioca (yucca fries and Brazilian sausage with cilantro and malagueta mayo). It was just okay, but I ate a bunch since I was still so hungry. For our entree, we shared the Feijoada (black bean stew with pork, dry beef, and sausage served with collard greens, farofa, and orange). The stew was just okay (first time I've had it) and by the time we had a few bites, we were both stuffed. We took the stew and collard greens to go.
I'd have to say the dining experience was just A-OK because of the fact that it's a very touristy place and I got a sense that the service here tries to encourage tourists to spend as much as possible -- which makes for a very uncomfortable dining experience. Would love to try more Brazilian food but most likely will go elsewhere before coming back. -

I thought the food was alright here,
We ordered the marinated Fried chicken and Crispy Yucca fries w/Brazilian sausage for our starters. It was comfort food so it was very good.. I had the Sirloin steak as my entree and my gf had the white fish. Both were okay, I would not come back for it though.
The Venue was very charming.
Service wise, the server was friendly, however my water was never topped off unless I asked for it.
One thing I did not like was the sizzling plate that the siloin steak came on. The busboy put it on my table in front of me and with the table not being all that big, there was a ridiculous amount of scolding hot sizzling oil flying at me. If I had not used the napkin to shield myself from it my clothes would have been sprayed with droplets of oil. After I was finished they took the plate away, you could see all the splatter the sizzling plate left. As the waiters passed my table with these sizzling plates to other patrons I would once again be showered with scolding hot oil droplets. -

Yeah... their prefixe and groupon specials were horrible.. it came with tiny little top sirloin with whole grilled garlic on each one of them.. when I think about brazilian restaurant, I am thinking MEAT!!
Anyways, their salad is EXCELLENT and calamari is a OK. I did enjoy their black bean beef stew over white rice along with seafood paellela which lacked once again seafood.. it has like 2 shrimp and 3 mussels...
I would not go back.. this place is not that good at all.. there are plenty of better restaurants that does not have to pretend like it's more than what it is... -

went for dinner. We asked to sit outside but were told they were "in a meeting" which ended 5 minutes after we were seated. Waiter made a face when he was asked to bring a Price Fix menu. I paid $5.00 extra for a specialty beef that he recommended be served rare. I asked for it very rare. It came well done and tough. When I complained he shugged and walked off. No tonic water in the place, delivery was late. Bean soup tasteless. Wait staff took plates without asking if we were done. No refil on coffee. Waited 35 minutes for the check. They added their tip even though there were only 3 of us.
Will make sure we eat somewhere else from now on. -

This is a nice restaurant for a fun, romantic dinner outdoors on a nice night. There was live music when I was here. The food is very good, although the menu seemed to have a lot of Italian and American dishes on it. The service is attentive though a bit confusing as many servers waited on us. Everyone was friendly. The exotic bomba dessert is especially delish.

My parents turned me on to Brazil Brazil. It's in their neighborhood and I can understand what they like. The service is excellent. The wait staff is really friendly and attentive. The portion are ginormous. If you like steaks recommend the ribeye. They do a really nice pasta with squid ink sauce. The fish was pretty good as well. The restaurant is a bit older, but I still had fun. On the bar side they had live entertainment as well.

I had a short stay in Brazil...Brazil Grill. But I enjoyed it. The atmosphere and decor carried a happy tone. It was interesting and yet fitting, nothing over the top.
The service was quick as I'm sure they're use to people stopping in before a show, like us. The waitress was smiling and the water waitor was on top of it! I was late to dinner so I didnt get a chance to peak at the menu, but it wasn't necessary, the plates were such generous helpings that I shared.
Lobster Raviolicious. While I didn't try it, the shrimp and steak looked perfect, and the spinach... Call me Pop Eye, I love me some good fresh spinach with fresh garlic. I wasn't just hungry, it really was cooked well and satisfied me. I also had yummy pineapple mojito to accompany my company and meal.
I feel like I could rely on this place for another great visit. -

Lots to choose from on Restaurant Row.
I was Yelping on my phone on the street trying to figure out which place I should go to. This one turned out to be pretty good.
They've got a lot of hot plates and skillet items that seem to be pretty popular with many of the other tables. I had the ribeye ($27), which was a nice piece of steak served with potatoes and vegetables. I really liked my food, and it wasn't too pricey.
The only bad thing was that the urinal was overflowing in the men's room, but I'll let that slide. -

My boyfriend and I went here on our date night, hoping to enjoy a nice meal and some good atmosphere following a week traveling and work. The place is barely a block from our apartment and we figured it was a great find, close, food looked amazing and the place looked amazing... this is where I'd say don't judge a book by its cover.
Yes the food was good... but service wasn't just bad, it was OFFENSIVE. The waitress called me an idiot because I couldn't properly pronounce the dish's names, our food took forever and after eating for only 10-minutes they told us we had to finish now or leave because they wanted the table. It took 44-minutes to get the food and we weren't even allowed a fraction of that to eat. When we ordered wine it came in cups that were no bigger than a shot glass yet we were charged $9 for what was practically watered down grape juice.
At the end we were going to complain when the owner started arguing with a nearby table, outright tell them she didn't give a F*ck what they thought of her place and they could go to hell! I was absolutely astounded... until the customer said "all I asked for was a second plate so we could share the meal".
This is a place I'd not only not reccomend but outright steer people away from! Some places nearby are not as good looking but never will they curse at you and throw you out for asking for a plate! -
Review from Liz N.
The food here was a solid 3. i came with a groupon with my bf, the groupon menu was pretty well rounded. We started with the fried empanadas and brazilian sausage and yuka. Everything fried is good, so no complains there. I have to say the service is a little slow, and they are slightly snobby against groupon users. We also ordered an additional bottle of wine with our dinner (wines range from $28 and up), and service got a lot better. We both ordered the sirlone which was done perfectly. the meat came with fried bananas (no not plantains), but legit bananas and I didn't really care for those. I was upset that when we asked for condiments the waitress asked, like A1? No true brazilian steak house should have A1! all in all the groupon was a great deal for a dinner in midtown, but there are many more authentic brazilian restaurants to spend your money on.

Food was good, atmosphere was great, but the bathrooms were disgusting. A sign in the stalls that said, "Do not throw papter in the toilets" So in the stall, there is an overflowing trashcan filled with soiled tissue paper! VERY DISGUSTING!!! Would not go back.

I bought a TravelZoo coupon for one appetizer, 2 entrees, 2 desserts, and one bottle of wine for $50.
Overall, the service was mediocre at best. We went for lunch on a Sunday, and the wait time in between entrees was a little slow. My steak (Churrasco a moda) was cooked well-done, even though I had requested medium rare. From the Travelzoo menu, the traditional Brazilian steak (Picahna na capa) came with 2 slices of meat. However, I noticed that the neighboring table which ordered the same dish off the main menu received 3 slices of meat.
The Doce de Leite com Queijo was simply caramel with a slice of white cheese. The caramel was tasty, although the cheese was slightly bland and awkward.
I think that the deal was good, although I would probably not return if ordering off the main menu. -

I went here last week with my partner after the theater. The service was friendly and efficient. More importantly, from the dinner rolls to the main meal, the food was very good. We had the calamari appetizer and it was good and the portion was substantial. The amount of steak was not large but i did ask that the fat be trimmed and it came fairly lean. The steak was good and i liked the garlic clove on each of the pieces of meat. My sirloin also came with rice and beans, both of which were pretty good. I particuarly liked the fried banana. Typically, fried bananas are throwaway items that I ignore because they are soggy. This one was rolled in bread crumbs and fried. Frankly, it was delicious. With the groupon, the meal price was very reasonable. I would go again. I recommended the restaurant to my parents after using the groupon. They went and enjoyed it.

Recently, I sat at the bar, had rice and beans with the picanha na chapa and a xingu. Service was prompt, kind, and they refilled my water several times.
Went here years ago with my mom and had a great time. Food was good, though please note that the fried bananas are in fact bananas in breading. I had thought they would be the Colombian style maduras, so my mistake.
Service was, umm, Brazilian. Communicate with them your desires and they will get to you. -

impossible to make a reservation on a Groupon deal. Refusing reservation on a weekend even though there is no restriction in Groupon deal rules.

They had me at $4 caipirinhas! We grabbed a quick bite to eat before heading to catch our bus home. And when I say quick, I mean quick. Our food was served to us in less than 15 minutes. The food was good and the drinks were tasty. Definitely worth the happy hour prices. Only problem was the funky sewage smell. Not sure what that was about but hopefully they can get that figured out.

It was a cool Friday evening in New York when my ladyfriend and i were in town visiting friends. After a nice dinner in the Village with our friend Grace, she asked us if we wanted to hear some Bossa Nova music. We arrived at the bar of Brazil Brazil around 10pm or so where a group of friendly Brazilians were drinking and laughing - the vibe was more like invading somebody's living room than visiting a bar in the middle of Manhattan.
After i ordered a Caipirinha (brazilian rum, sugar cane, and muddled lime), i noticed one of the Brazilians in the group made his way to a corner of the room (no stage) with a guitar and started strumming a tune familiar to me from a Getz/Gilberto album. The musician wasnt trying to compete with the loud group in the bar; he knew they would come to him. By his second song, some of the folks where singing along and some were dancing. By the third song, the place was electric.
As the night went on, the drinks kept coming, and the crowd grew larger, but the living room vibe was only enhanced. If you like listening to live Brazilian music for the price of a drink (or three), then check out Brazil Brazil on a Friday night. You wont regret it. -

I am not sure if it depends on what night you eat at this restaurant because our experience was fabulous! We were in town to see Mary Poppins and came across this place on Restaurant Row. The service was great and the food was fabulous. We had the steak and spinach and the haddock fish that was on special. We both loved our dishes. In fact, the fried plantains were the best I have ever had! Better than my grandmother's! The rice and beans too were delish! I did have one minor issue with my drink - tasted like diet - which they immediately replaced with ginger ale. We will definitely be going back to Brazil Brazil!

Review from Susan N.
Oh gawd, so awful. That's probably the best thing I can say about Brazil Grill. It just gets worse from there.
A few years ago a couple of friends and I decided we have to try the Brazillian churrascaria, where waiters come around to your table with skewers filled with huge chunks of eat and deliver it to your plate. Sounds cool, right? Yeah, except we couldn't have found a worse place to go to.
We sat there in a table slightly off to the side. We watched as the waiters went around from table to table and served everyone chunks of meat. Watch is pretty much all we did, as they almost never came to us. I don't know if it's because we looked young (which is really irrelevant) or if it's because we were seated off to the side slightly (why would you seat us there if it's a table you're going to ignore?).
So an hour and a half after we sat down, we were served from 6 skewers of meat. We should have been stuffed silly after an hour. But after an hour and a half, my friends were still hungry from the tiny meat portions they served off those 6 skewers. I was starved since I don't eat pork and except for one skewer, everything was pork. I didn't come here to feel like a starving kid in Africa. I could have stayed home and not done grocery shopping for that.
On the plus side, we ended up not having to pay. Which is good, because the amount I ate wasn't even worth a dollar (that little), and that piece of meat wasn't even tasty. It was one of the worst "dining" (well, I guess you'd have to eat if you call it dining) experiences I've ever had.
This is a place I'd recommend to you if I really, REALLY hated you. -
Review from Gina F.
My husband & I chose this restaurant on a whim. We were walking around, looking for a nice little place to enjoy our 1st anniversary dinner. As we were in town for the New York Comic Con, we had to play things a little loose since we didn't know what events or parties might come up and at what time, As every place we've ever eaten in NYC has been delicious, we really thought we couldn't go wrong. But we could. And we did
We were recruited by the host, who was standing outside trying to encourage people to come in and dine. Not uncommon, but since it looked charming & my husband loves Brazilian food, we decided to give it a whirl. We were seated on the patio, which is cute & great for people watching.
Our server came up almost immediately to ask if we wanted water, which we did. He brought it quickly and asked if we were ready to order. As we had been sitting only about 1-2 minutes, we'd had next to no time to review the menu. He said ok & walked away without asking for a drink order. Bizarre, considering that's usually the thing you ask for first. He came back 2-3 minutes later and asked if we were ready again. We're trying to enjoy a night out--why was he rushing us? We felt as though he was trying to turn the table before we'd even eaten. We said we needed a couple minutes, and as he turned to go we had to stop him & let him know that we could place a drink order. He took the drink order & maybe 10 minutes later the bus boy brought our drinks. Within a minute or 2 another person came to take our order. It had been over 10 minutes since we'd seen our original server and this person appeared to be a host or manager (no apron). We gave our order to him and waited. And waited. And waited. They must have been growing the greens for my salad or aging the bleu cheese. Finally, after 30 minutes of empty drinks, empty water, and absolutely 0 server attention, a bus boy brought our entrees. My salad had totally been forgotten. Disappointed, I told him my salad had never come. He offered to check & I told him to just cancel it.
We started our food, only to find it completely mediocre. The palm heart ravioli were certainly nothing to write home about. It was a fairly bland dish. My husband"s medium rare tuna steak turned out to be a very, very dry well done. Since he had only a sandwich while working at the con all day and was nearly delirious with hunger by the time our food came, he just ate it. At this point, we still have not seen our server since the 2nd time he approached to take our order around 40 minutes earlier. We'd had nothing to drink for quite a while. Oddly, the tables around us seemed well tended to. Finally, he barely approaches our table, literally with his side to us, kind of facing me with a glance over his shoulder to my husband. "Everything is good?" And then starts to walk away. We stopped him and ordered another round. When that round hadn't appeared 10 minutes later (even though we'd seen the waiter come to our section and avoid us), I went to the host and asked for a manager, explaining a little of what had transpired thus far. I mean, had we offended the waiter by not ordering as soon as we sat? Because he was acting inconvenienced by having to wait on us.
Another server came over & tried to make excuses about them being busy, but if that's the case, why is your host out recruiting more business off the street? Not to mention that I doubt that's the first time the place had been busy on a Saturday night-I mean, come on! She bought us a round & took 10% off the bill. While we were speaking to her, the surly server finally, magically appeared with our drinks. Shortly after, the actual manager came up & we told her it was fine & we had spoken to someone already. Later a 3rd person, the guy who had taken our order, came up and apologized about the salad. Still, after all that, our waters were unfilled, my 2nd drink (Bailey's & coffee) was never topped off with more coffee, and we still only saw our server when we flagged him down for the bill.
I spent a long time working in service, so I have a great appreciation for excellent service, but also a forgiving attitude to someone who is clearly overwhelmed or who makes a mistake and apologizes, or to someone who's not the greatest, but still friendly and charming. This guy didn't have a redeeming quality, and quite frankly it was so upsetting to have my anniversary dinner ruined that I teared up at the table. I especially have to question the kind of service we got when my husband, the guy who takes everything in stride & rarely notices a slight, says "I feel like we must have done something to offend him." The only thing we could think of was that we hadn't ordered right away, but why should that be a problem.
Hands down the worst service I have had in any restaurant ever. I've traveled all around the U.S. & Europe and I don't think I was ever treated so poorly. -

I went to Brazil last summer and i became Brazilian food lover!
I found out this place from web. and i tried pre-fix course.
It was great!
There are three courses plus Brazilian cofee and it was only $24.95.
Good price as Brazilian food. -

This place sure did fool me. I was pretty excited to try this place out since it had a nice classy look to it but I must say it will be my first and last visit. I decided to look it up on here and I saw it had 3 stars on yelp and warned my uncles but they insisted on going in anyways. The food was not tasteful and the service was horrible!!!! In the middle of a touristy area it seems to be eye catching but I'll pass and so should you! Like my uncle said, "They probably add the tip because they know they won't get one." ha!

I really enjoyed my dinner here the other night. The wait staff was very attentive and kept coming over to our table to see if we needed anything. I liked the atmosphere of the restaurant and the bar has $4 caipirinhas during Happy Hour.
We split the grilled meat skewers as an appetizer. The seasonings were great and the meet was extremely tender. I had the lobster ravioli for my main course. I would have liked more lobster and less cheese in my ravioli but it was still tasty. My friend had the calamari and it was cooked perfectly. -

I love coming here for the happy hour at the bar ($4 drinks, beer, sangria, wine and awesome caprinhias! sorry about the spelling)
Very nice pre-theater drinks and appetizers. A great intimate spot for 2 persons or a small group.
Went here 6/11 with my nephew, wife and mother-in-law before a show and they all really really enjoyed it.
I have never eaten dinner here though, so I can only comment on the bar area. -

What an AMAZING place! I'm really hoping that whatever negative reviews this place got, were circumstantial mistakes, and that some foodie was just having a bad day... cause I really want this place to be my new favorite happy hour secret :)
After wandering down Restaurant Row, the menu seemed fascinating and decently priced! and late night $4 happy hour? oh, and throw some live music as well!? COUNT ME IN! my bf and I sat in the bar section; which was vey nicely decorated with low, cute tables and leather chairs in addition to the regular at the bar seating :) We must have had amazing timing, about 9pm on a Wednesday night, aside from one couple at the bar, we had the whole place to ourselves! The Happy Hour specials are $4 for typical brunch drinks, (Bellini, Mimosa, Screwdriver, Sangria, Wine, etc) in addition to Brazilian caipirinhas, made well!
We ordered entrees, I'm not sure if the bar menu is different from the Restaurant side, but I got an amazing Stroganoff dish with chicken and mushrooms, rice and french fries (odd combo, but delicious!) which had so much food I brought leftovers to work the next day, all for $11! The bf got the marinated fried chicken with rice, beans and french fries for $10 both dishes were divine; what an amazing first-time experience of Brazilian cuisine :)
Oh, and on top of all that, there was live music-a guitarist who was singing/playing in the corner bringing all of the ambiance together perfectly.
The servers were very attentive, also because we were practically the only ones there..
The whole night was amazing thanks to my new discovery of Brazil Brazil Grill; hopefully the experience can be repeated the many many times I plan on coming back! -

I don't really know what to expect with Brazilian food, but I just didn't like it very much. They were open late after going to a Broadway show, so that's how they ended up with our business. Waitstaff was very attentive, but I just was not impressed with the food.

This place was horrible. The meal was like something to get through. Everything tasted like something I could have made myself. Fish tasted dry and plain, mashed potatoes tasted like they came out of a box, vegetables were plain. Can't say the food was bad but it wasn't good either. I've never had food I felt so neutral about. Bugs attacking the food as we were eating really topped it all off. Overpriced. Can't order happy hour drinks unless you're at the bar. Don't come here.

I didn't want to write a bad review but frankly, this place just doesn't cut it. They would have gotten 2 stars but the live entertainment earned them their third. Food was far from exceptional, and for the price I would have been more content staying home and Barbecuing. Service was shotty at best and even after I reserved a table they sat my girlfriend and I directly in front of a door which was basically a wind tunnel, so we both spent the entire evening with our coats on. Maybe if they dropped their price, maybe if they improved the quality of their food and service, but for now I consider this place a major PASS.

"the food was excellent, the drinks exceptional, and the service was downright charming."
We had SUCH a good time here. Our large group was just walking down restaurant row looking for a restaurant to try when we were enticed into heading into the restaurant. When we walked in we were actually thanked very sincerely for eating at their restaurant. Ill admit the enthusiasm made me a little worried that they might not get much business and that the food wouldnt be good but much to the contrary, the food was excellent, the drinks exceptional, and the service was downright charming. We will definitely be back and the best part is that this restaurant will really make you feel at home and appreciated (what a new concept with NYC restaurants!). -

This place is pretty Meh. All I remember is that they slipped in the bottled water and charged us $8. We didn't even order it. The waiter nonchalantly asked us if we wanted water, and I said "ice water please". They wouldn't remove it from our bill. We also order the variety of meat plate and the red snapper. The meat wasn't anything else, maybe it was too dry and not very tender? The red snapper was good, but it was like $35 bucks. We ordered conservatively but somehow the bill was $100. How'd that happen?

We lived in Brazil for 3 years and are always looking for good Brazilian food. On a recent trip to NYC we discovered Brazil Grill. We loved it!! We started with $4 caipirinhas (perfect) I had an excellent Caldo Verde and (decent) garlic clams. My husband had the moqueca de peixe (fish stew), which was very flavorful and not at all oily. We would definitely come back!
