This place used to really be a dump. They didn't have anything in here. Now they seem to have a few bar/restaurants to keep you occupied if for whatever reason you should find yourself waiting here.
After our arrival, my bags were ready straight away. I guess three stars is fair considering there are much nicer airports. So......................three stars it is.
Not bad, but definitely not good either.
Your everyday, average, small airport. No restaurants except a Burger King. I'm really surprised, however, by the presence of a BROOKS BROTHERS inside the terminal...I wonder who ever makes purchases from there.
Anyway, flying out of here isn't very painful, and tickets are usually pretty cheap since no one usually flies out of here. 2 terminals, one small, one smaller.
CT Limo services this area - good service.
I am really tired of being ripped off. $2.75 for water. The airport is dirty and the services are terrible.
Quicker check in, faster security checks, parking close to airport that's reasonably priced and not as many people altogether. I've flown both United and Air Canada out of here, and I would say the United gate area is nicer, simply because AC and American share one sandwich bar. Flying out of Hartford means smaller planes in general, so the aircraft board faster. Food choice isn't great, but hey, eat before you get to the airport. Free Wi-fi is great, especially since most other airports charge $6.75/hour for T-Mobile HotSpot. Avoid the lines of JFK, Laguardia or Boston, fly from Hartford.

I have flow our of Bradley many times. It is clean and efficient. It has gotten a lot nicer since they have expanded their long and short term parking by adding a garage. Also the renovations to Terminal A are nice. The thing that gets me is ALL of the stores/restaraunts/bars close EARLY (like 6pm). So if you have a late flight you better get something before hitting the airport. Overall I give it a C+.
Nice little airport, reminded me of the airport in Guayaquil,Ecuador. The security check was fast and the officers were nice and friendly.
Free wi-fi so that's always a good perk.

Bradley Intl' Airport made an impression on me. Not much of one, though. It really felt like one of the smaller airports I have been through. Since it serves Hartford & Springfield I expected a bigger, busier airport.
The security wait was only long when you consider that there were so few people in the airport. You certainly don't need to get to this airport 2 hours before a flight...except maybe on a Monday morning.

Free wi-fi! Which is great, because I always get here two hours early expecting a crowd, but then it takes about ten minutes to get through check-in and security and I'm left with a long wait.
For a long time my only beef with this place was the lack of any decent coffee options, but they've rectified that by recently opening a Dunkin' Donuts in the United terminal. Perfect - now I can get one last fix before heading home to Dunkin' Donuts-less San Francisco.

Small and straightforward, show up prepared.
Not a lot of food options, and if you get to the terminal in the early evening, make sure you've got your reading materials already on hand. Apparently they send back the unsold newspaper copies late afternoon, which seems odd.
Tip if you're stuck here for an afternoon
If you find yourself with 3 hours to kill, I'd recommend heading over toward the Sheraton, which is connected to the terminals via indoor walkways. They have wi-fi service that you can grab onto for $10 or something, and there is an open lounge of sorts with a Starbucks and some TVs where you can kill the time somewhat comfortably and productively.

My wife and I flew out of Bradley for what will hopefully be the last time. Words cannot describe the depths of our discontent with this airport. I kept having the recurring thought that I had sunken into the 9th ring of Hell, as we fruitlessly tried to make the best of our 3 hours of waiting before our flight. This was my first time flying American out of Hartford, which meant that it was my first introduction to Terminal B.
To understand BDL you have to understand that it has two major terminals (for domestic flying). Yesterday, I learned that BDL mirrors the two faces of Connecticut. In the same way that there's West Hartford and East Hartford, Westville and Fair Haven, Greenwich and Bridgeport, there's Terminal A and Terminal B.
The (recently renovated) Continental/Delta/NWA wing of Terminal A is definitely tolerable, with multiple newsstands, a McDonald's, a bona fide bookstore, bagel shop, etc. This really approaches what airports should be, and for these renovations they should be commended. The United/US Airways wing of Terminal A remains terrible, with essentially one horrible eatery, one bar, and one newsstand.
Terminal B is the land that time forgot. I wasn't alive for the 70's, but I imagine that Terminal B is what airports looked like back then, without the 30+ years of wear and neglect. Drab, depressing carpeting and walls greeted us as we checked in. There was an abandoned Auntie Anne's shop -- it reminded me of The Day After. Again, there was one horrible food stand, a bar, and a miniature newsstand that awaited us beyond the security checkpoint. I'm not a super, well-seasoned traveler, and I can list all of the airports I've ever experienced (BDL, EWR, BOS, SFO, ORD, DEN, PIT, LAX, MEM, MDW, ATL, CLT, HOU, ORY, MAD). Among these, Terminal B of BDL was the absolute worst, by a wide margin. We couldn't take it -- we abandoned the airport and took a taxi to and from a Friendly's. This was the first time I was ever so strongly compelled to escape an airport. I felt like my soul was at stake.
Surprisingly, the only thing about the experience that was positive (hence the 2nd star), was that the people were shockingly nice. Politeness reigned at the security checkpoint -- one TSA employee actually ran through the terminal to return a forgotten belt to a woman right before she was about to board. It was a beautiful sight. It makes me feel sad for those employees however -- I feel like you could only be assigned to work the Terminal B checkpoint as punishment.

"Small" might be the most common word to describe this cozy and simple airport and its international status is questionable for even some of the most seasoned travelers. However, it doesn't detract that its one of the cleanest airports I've seen and from a service standpoint this trumps even the largest of airports.
The bathrooms were super clean and the attendant inside was quick to help me dry my hands. The woman behind the rental counter was quick to suggest that I could get a better deal at another station and the janitor was nice enough to lead me to the exit because one of the illuminated signs were broken. If only all airports could have service this helpful.
Oh, it's not THAT small, is it? Especially by CT standards. I've flown out of Bradley plenty of times, and it beats the pants off of some airports (EWR most notably, but doesn't everyone?) and here's why. You never have to wait to get through security and check in. That's not to say they're not thorough. They just have adequate staffing (you listening Newark??) and get you through the line in an efficient fashion. Brilliant! It's also very clean and comfortable, the seats aren't hacked to pieces like at some airports. There's also free wi-fi and ample seating. You can even take up a few seats at most gates, if you're like that.

Bradley Airport is a very nice little airport located conveniently between Hartford and Springfield. There are two terminals, I've only been in Terminal A. The airport has a nice aesthetic appeal to it; it's hard to explain what makes it look great. I guess it's how clean it is, although the seats at Gate 3 had crumbs scattered in many of them. Security is a pain, but it's like that at any airport. You have the nice TSA workers who want to make the procedure as easy as possible, an the one's whose head is a little inflated by the title. One thing that was new to me (I live in Cleveland and don't fly very often) is the air blower terminal at security. I didn't have to go through, but I've never seen it before. There are limited food and retail options, but what's there is good. Overall, if you're traveling to Connecticut, W. Massachusetts, or S. Vermont, Bradley Airport is a very nice airport to go through. It's the easiest way to get to Hartford or Springfield by air.
