As a SA Texan, I need to remind myself of the sweet gems in town like Brackenridge Park. Sure, I've been on many adventures with walking, biking, duck feeding, train riding, zoo going, late night picnicking, day time picnicking, dog walking, playground sliding, field trip attending and most importantly memory making.

If you are local or just visiting you will enjoy making memories here as long as you take full advantage of this beautiful park. Now drop your phone and get to Brack STAT!

When I'm at work, I pick up something to eat and have lunch on the benches right when you enter.
    Peaceful and quiet.

    The park is beautiful.
I was recently here with a friend for a Taste of New Orleans during Fiesta week.  I did not enjoy my food because I discovered my favorite booth after the fact which was real New Orleans food, (The Big Easy Cafe) but that was aside from the point.
This park is great!  It makes for some beautiful pictures, a nice stroll, a nice place to have a picnic, probably great for joggers as well...
Check it out if you haven't yet!

    It's HUGE; it's beautiful; it's centrally located.
This park is perfect for children, for big kids, for BBQs, for long walks, for feeding ducks... I could go on and on, but I won't.  My favorite part is what we call the "monkey cages" - I'm not sure if the name comes from what it used to be or because the kids love to play around on it.  Either way, it's one of the best spots to be a big kid in.  You can run around and climb and play hide-and-seek on it.
Be warned - this park can get pretty packed on holidays and on the weekends.  But don't let that stop you from enjoying the park!  Just try your best to go during the week or early in the morning on weekends.

Beautiful large park with a bit of everything a large urban park should have. What I really like are the historical touches all through the park. A great place to escape for picnics or walks. Don't forget the Japanese Tea Garden or the train ride.

This is a fantastic place in San Antonio. First off, you have a gorgeous park in the city - trails, water features, picnic tables, etc. Second, you have two fantastic attractions right there (Tea Gardens & the zoo). And, last but not least, you have available parking.

    This is a great location!

I'm a distance runner.  There aren't a lot of places in downtown San Antonio to get in a run where you don't have to breath car fumes.

Brackenridge Park is like a little secret oasis in the middle of it all.  Three trails run loops through the park and it's very easy to find several miles of trail without repeating yourself.  It's always kept very clean and water and restrooms are available throughout.

I generally park in the lot off St. Mary's St and head over the zoo's train tracks into the park.  Then, just start running.  I see lots of beautiful birds and other small wildlife to make my run more interesting.  Also, lots of families tend to congregate around the many picnic spots along the trails.  They're always friendly and often encouraging about my runs!  That's always a plus on a hot Texas day!

If you're not into running, it's a delightful place for an afternoon walk or picnic and always fun to feed the ducks or catch a local softball game!

Awesome park. I can't get over how beautiful it is here. I've only visited a handful of times but really got to see how nice the park was when a dear friend of mine got married in one of the pavilions. We went to feed the ducks and it was so fun, my kids loved it. The only horrible part is the parking, especially on the weekends since you are sharing parking with people who go to the zoo and botanical gardens, but if you go on a weekday, you should be fine :o)

This is an absolute gem of a park in downtown San Antonio.  Like many of the previous reviewers, I have come here for many years and have great memories here.  There are several places to set up a picnic and/or barbeque and I have even seen people fishing in the river.

The location is great and beautiful and a reminder of what the city used to look like before all the buildings and highways.  This is definitely my favorite local park and would recommend to all tourists or people new to the area.  Avoid like the plague on Easter weekend.  Far too many families that have the tradition of camping for the best spot....the entire weekend.

Wow when I think of San Antonio I never think beautiful parks but this is one of the best I've seen.  This thing reminded me of memorial park in Houston so much!  I love memorial park and it's very dear to my heart but this place is better!!!

What makes this park better you ask? The river that runs down the middle of it of course!

I put this up there with Chrissy Fields in San Francisco.  There's something about a park near water that just makes my active heart melt.

Following a trip to the Japanese Tea Garden, we drove around this park. I understand that this place could get very hectic during holidays and weekends. I could definitely see it.

It's beautiful to have a picnic here and enjoy the scenic views and serenity of the park. I saw some trails that I would have loved to check out, but unfortunately, time was a factor.

Took some great photos and saw some interesting bird species. A great place to pass through if you're in the area.

I have taken the kids to Brackenridge park on a number of different occasions. With it being a stone's throw from the Zoo, Botanical Gardens, and the kiddie park, this park proves to be a well kept inner city park.

I love the trails with their trail markers and the map of the biking/running paved trails are excellent. A nice quote from a long distance runner of mine just today was, "Let's not go run our 9.5 mile run at that park that just goes around in circles." And this is so true. Their longest running trail without double looping is about 1.5 miles. It can be a little disappointing to run by the car 5 times and not want to just call it quits.

For young kids learning to ride their bikes, this is the place. Wide trails and neat parks, it is easy for them to give up and let the parents pick up the bikes for the rest of the trail. Not a big deal.

Another little tid bit: This can be a local spot for those with out homes. But my past experience with them has been more than respectable and they do not ask for money or help in any way.

Brackenridge is a great place to chill out and relax at.  My kids always get a kick out of the wooden bridge and feeding the ducks.  One time during the winter a couple of years ago we were the only people really around the place.  We broke out with some bread and crackers and a whole freakin army of ducks came waddling after us!  We had so much fun that day.

I've attended picnics here, baseball games, birthday parties... you name it.  It's just a really wonderful place to do almost anything at.

I had the pleasure of living across the street from this park for over a year.  When daylight savings time was over and I was able to walk after I got off work, this park was always the first place I went.  Great for walking the dog, sightseeing, viewing local art, feeding the ducks, and photography.

I submitted some pictures that only slightly capture the beauty of Brackenridge Park.  You can literally spend hours walking the trails that surround the area, or walk over to the Zoo or Museum which are both connected.

There is a slight homeless element in the park, but it's kept in check and it's pretty much expected in any major metropolitan city.

Brackenridge Park is to San Antonio what Central Park is to NYC:  A beautiful reminder of how wonderful nature can be stuck in the middle of great expanses of concrete and roads.

I absolutley love this park. My friend and I go here all the time during the summer! We like going when it's getting dark when it's much quieter.
    Very peaceful and clean.

I had the most fantastic evening here yesterday and captured some great photos to remember it by. We walked here after dinner at Augie's and just walked around snapping pictures and catching up while taking in the beauty of nature. As it was getting dark we saw all sorts of wild life including a beautiful family of swans who hissed at and scared my dog. We brought some left over bread from dinner to feed the ducks which was entertaining because I know my dog wanted to snag some of that delectable bread but after getting scared of the swans she kept looking at me then sniffing the air and I just know she was thinking "they look and smell too much like those scary swans".

I love this place. This is one of those places that you can go have a lazy afternoon at.....laying on the grass, munching on picnic food, chilling out and reading a book...this place is so peaceful for being located in such a busy little area. The art that is scattered throughout makes taking a walk or bikeride through that much more enjoyable. It can get a little crazy on the weekends, but in my mind, that is just a mark of a great place that everyone wants to be in on. Take a cue from the movie "Pretty Woman" .... play hooky from work one day, cop a squat under a tree and breath....enjoy life a bit...it's all good at Brack Park.

OK let me preface this by saying that I just saw this review and it took me back.  I use to go here as a child and did it up right w/o fail.  Great picnics were had here, many a summer time parties and they had animals at that time.  not sure if this is still the case, yet I would for sure go back next time i am in town!!!

Just moveed to San Antonio and recently stumbled upon Brachenridge trying to find a short cut back from Broadway.  The park is absolutely beautiful, with a river running through part of it and tons of picnic tables and barbeque pits everywhere.  There are always people there but it never seems cramped or over crowded.  Also there is tons of open space and pavillions perfect for throwing an kind of party (though I am pretty sure the pavilions require some kind of rental.) Just make sure to get out of the park by 11pm (when it closes) because cops do partol the area all the time and the fine is quite steep for anyone who gets caught there after close.

Excellent park for walking, biking, fishing, picnicking, and pretty much doing all of your standard outdoor fun things.  Feeding the ducks is always a hit for me.  Also a great place if you're in geocaching.  Be sure to check out the works of public art that are scattered throughout the park.
