Sitting on the patio of Bowers Harbor, with a crisp glass of Pinot Grigio in my hand, a dog at my feet and a view of the autumn colors and winding vines... all I can say it, this feels like Heaven.

The wine stewards are such cool cats; hip, funny, warm and honest. They have extra tasting tables set up around the property to avoid lines and crowds.

"How's the hard cider?" I ask and the fiesty woman behind the counter shoots back with "I only like red wine, so here, try it for yourself!" and pours me a big glass. Love that. The other gentleman, who appears to have stepped right out of a mid-1940's jazz scene, seamlessly pours from different bottles, taking care of the crowd of wine-hungry guests with ease.

We biked the wine tour, with our puppy in tow, and were welcomed at this cozy little place like we were good friends. Our dog got to hang with Brix, the winery dog and we felt like we never wanted to leave.

We bought a ridiculous amount of Pinot Noir, hoping to bring a little piece of this memory back with us, but I'm not sure it will last long. Looks like we'll have to make this an annual trip. Darn...

On my 2 day adventure to both peninsula wineries Bowers was not on my list to stop. Boy am I glad we changed our minds!
Friendly, great wines, beautiful vineyard, perfect place to relax, enjoy and shop.
Bowers made it to the "top of our list" for best wines and winery.
The $ for the tasting is well worth it.

    Toast to Bowers! Cheers!

Never any complaints about Bowers Harbor. Went for the fifth trip in a row just this last weekend and I find it's always a joy.

Big dog on the premesis makes any retail establishment good for me, but aside from that the wine is great, the service is quick, knowledgable and friendly and the ambiance is great. Well-priced.

Staff was very friendly here and i enjoyed the country style ambiance. Unfortunately I wasn't a fan of any of their wines but i am no wine expert. They did have some cool wine vases that we ended up buying for a christmas gift.

A nice stop on the other side of OMP (Old MIssion Peninsula) with a casual atmosphere,  For $5, you get 5 tastings, and the Ice Wine (while expensive) is worth a glass - delish.
They just got a new Burnese Mountain dog puppy, still unnamed, to start learning the ropes from Cooper (their other Burnese), and he's featured in the books, Winery Dogs.
This place is very relaxed, not uptight, and quite friendly.  Winding your way thru this part of the peninsula back to TC is a good route to take.

Was the second group in Bowers history to do the Vineyard Tour and despite being in the "beta testing group" my family and I (all six of us) enjoyed the tour immensely. The guide was knowledgeable and the wine was good. Their Bernese mountain dog Brix was a good distraction too and the sparkling wine that is named after him is also very good.
The only hiccup is after a long drive from Chicago we almost had to go somewhere else because apparently someone forgot to remove the "close" sign from the entrance to the vineyard. Oh and one more thing if the vineyard tour do pick up which I am sure it will. They will have to create a new parking area for the vineyard because right now I don't think the vineyard can accommodate more than ten vehicle.

I thought most of the wines were too sweet but I have a low tolerance for sweet in wines. I liked the Bowers Harbor Red and got a couple of bottles. Lots of people around us at the tasting seemed to like the sweeter wines.

The dog (Cooper) roaming around is probably the biggest one I've ever seen in person. Even though he was big and full of energy, he wasn't annoying and seemed to be pretty graceful as he worked his way through the crowds and display stands.

The thing I liked about this place most was the total lack of pretension, the extremely warm and friendly staff and the gorgeous grounds. I know it's easy to have beautiful grounds int he fall up there, but this place really invests in the deck & vine area and it really shows.

I loved the one outdoor tasting stand. Not enough vineyards seem to do that around that area.

We came here as part of our Mission Peninsula Wine Tour.  I grabbed a bottle of the Red Wagon from the store and tasted a number of different wines.  They also have a few wines named after the dogs that roam around the fields, one was cooper, who met us in the parking lot as we were leaving...made it fun.

The tasting room is free, just like some of the others in the area.

Small boutique winery with unpretentious attitude.

No fee charged, only small cases produced.  Staff was friendly and informative - suggest trying them on your own versus a tour bus - so you can get individual attention.

Bought the Pinot (already drank - delicious) + semi-dry riesling.

Bowers Harbor is by far my favorite vineyard and tasting room on Old Mission Peninsula!  My mom and I stopped here on a Monday afternoon, and were the only customers for quite a while.  The person working in the tasting room at the time was incredibly personable and friendly, and once I expressed my delight at the wines, he wanted to ensure that I tasted all of their best products!  The rieslings they had were absolutely amazing, and I purchased one for my mom as a mother's day gift. I'd come back here in a heartbeat.
