Can you say tonic east ???
The entire time I'm having flashbacks of my girlfriend sexualizing the bartender and me hovering over my tray of free drinks. Ohhh tonic...my memories serve you well (at least back then).
From the flat, wide screen tvs down to their menu, this sports bar screams "B&T!" Thank god we're not in Murryhill otherwise we'd be really surrounded.
Interestingly enough, I had a good time sitting in their outdoor seating and drinking a few ice cold pitchers. I didn't get to try their "beer tower" because those 2 words together at 2pm is just not classy.
I will return to take on the tower another day.

Oh how I miss Bounce! I loved this place, IDK why it closed down or got shut down. This place was so good. The wings, the food, the staff treated us well, the beer tower of 100 Oz's of Sam Adams you can't beat that. The giants super bowl was my best time there. Well now I'm on a mission to find a new spot...anybody have any ideas. We tried Tonic east 2 Thumbs down!!!!

Beer tower + Summer + Outdoor table = Good times
I've been to Bounce a handful of times in the summer and have always left a happily buzzed customer. The service is as good as can be expected at a sports bar in the East village, but I haven't had any negative experiences with the staff.
All in all, the only thing distinguishing Bounce from any other sports bar in the area is their beer towers as shown in other yelper's pictures. If I were you, I'd visit bounce at least once in the summer and partake (feel free to invite me as well).

Great Sports bar. Bar Tenders was charming attentive and new her sports teams. Food is reasonable and the pricing is not to bad. Great place to watch a game or just hang out.
I always stop by when I am in NY.
The only reason I was at bounce was because of an after party for a play.
Let me just get the good things about bounce out of the way so I can concentrate on the negatives. The bathrooms are clean and there is some nice outdoor seating. Cleanliness is the only reason for the second star.
Okay. Here we go.
This place is the frat bar I thought I'd never go to. You walk in and almost every table has table tops filled with beer and 30something year old dudes drinking like they're 20, unsuccessfully trying to pick up on NYU girls who are about the age they're desperately trying to revisit.
There are about a dozen flat screens showing sports games. Maybe to remind all the frat boys of the "big game" they played in back in high school? I don't know.
Change the name of this place to "glory days" and call it a night.

Gross-trocity. And not because I happen to hate sports bars, am an ignoramus about football and am characteristically inclined to turn my nose up at a Bud Light beer tower. Those things are all fine if executed in the laid-back environs you'd expect to find them. So be real about what you're offering. What's with the mandatory $2 coat check and the Sunday afternoon bouncers? The snooty waitstaff that sneers when you're trying to elbow your way to the bathroom through a throng of Steelers fans? Come ON.

Has a sports lounge vibe with a reputation for always hiring beautiful staff members and providing high-end service. They definitely uphold their image every time I end up there. Seating is limited, but the intimacy of the space makes it a fun place to catch a game. Plasma screens are plastered on nearly every wall, so there really isn't a bad seat. It's also a frequent hangout for the NYU crowd, with the table-tap beer towers offering an easy way for a group of friends to sit for hours and stay hydrated.
For UFC fanatics, Bounce Deuce screens each pay-per-view. I've heard rumors of no cover, but when I recently watched UFC 91 they were collecting $10 a head. That cost was more than made up for by the free table-tap they gave us after a server accidentally filled an extra. We were also granted a reload on our plate of nachos for free. Throw in the fact that our waitress was strikingly good looking and this place is hard not to like.
*Completely unremarkable
The first time I came here it was on a weekday evening. The bar was tended only moderately well and there were few people in the bar, mostly the young after-work business type. The second time, it was just as deserted and the bartender took forever to get our drinks, despite how empty it was.
The environment is spacious, and there are many televisions playing various different sports, but it's not as if you can't find that in most sports bars.

When considering sports bars, there are several things that must be accepted as fact:
1. It will be filled with frat boys and the women who inexplicably love them
2. There will be TVs everywhere, though most of them will be playing the same game (seriously, is it too much to ask to put on some NHL action?)
3. The beers will be standard and, perhaps, pricier than other bars
4. The food will be typical fried bar food
Bounce satisfies all these sports bar requirements, but somehow they aren't quite so annoying here. Our waitress [agreement with Robert R.: the waitresses are indeed hot] was incredibly attentive, and any delays in service could have easily been chalked up to the fact that the bar was filled to capacity. The beer selection is decent, though nothing spectacular; the same can be said for the food. The only notable thing was that they actually made our friend a good mixed drink.
What struck me, however, was the seeming lack of hostility in the place. Sitting with rabid Red Sox fans, I expected to be heckled, but no one tried to mess with us. Don't get me wrong, the crowd was definitely into the game, but on the whole it was a much more accepting environment than this Devils-fan-living-in-New-York-City is accustomed to.
Bathroom Grade: 4/10. Standard bathroom, but I have to take a point off because it is located back by the entrance, far away from the main seating area. When the bar is so crowded I feel like every single person I pass should have bought me dinner first, having the bathroom so far away doesn't really help matters.

The two stars is because of service and that's the only reason. Our bartender showed up before I even knew what kind of beer I wanted, no waiting at all and the place was packed.
This bar has good intentions, the set up is nice, there are plenty of TVs and seating to watch the games. But, no one watches sports here. It was a Monday night and I was thoroughly disappointed. It didn't help that the minute I walked in I was hit on by a sleazy man (I won't relive the comment that he thought would be a good opening line but in fact made me run the other direction) and he wasn't the only one.
The crowd is a very strange mix and overall...it just doesn't work.
You won't find me here again.

This place is just a fancy sports bar. The crowd, though, isn't as loud or boisterous as sports bars I'm accustomed to. People just drink, eat food, and stare the hot waitresses... oh the games? Yeah they show those on the many big screens all around the perimeter of the establishment. My friends and I have gotten here at like 6:30 on a Friday and grabbed one of the comfy booths. But an hour later, the place starts to get packed. And the food is pretty good and fairly priced. I like the tempora popcorn shrimp and the chicken strips with 3 different sauces. Did I mention the pretty waitstaff?
I went here for the Thursday night Kickoff of the NFL Season and left nearly deaf. For a moment frozen in time the East Village seemed like the Upper East Side where plenty of hulking douchebags took in the Pittsburgh Miami season opener.
If you're looking for a Sports Bar experience that's all game and no annoyances this is not the place for you. In between commercials and sometimes plays, the DJ would blast obnoxious hip hop or Modern rock at eardrum shattering decibel levels.
On the plus side, my sesame chicken fingers with various dipping sauces were quite good and our waitress was unbelievably cute.
Back to the minus side, we were charged for more beer than we drank. If I ever go to this bar again it would have to be substantially less crowded.

This is one of those places where I never waltzed into during the evening because a)it was dead, b)it was almost too clean, and c)it looked more like a restaurant (I always tend to lean toward bar bars if I'm just picking a random place).
So Andrew J. had the idea that we go during the day. Yesterday. Afternoon. 3:30pm. This was a pleasant idea, get a beer bong (they call it a "tower", I call it just "tube filled with beer") and get right to it.
We had 4 of them. And with the exception of one out of our four man group, we already were drinking at McSorley's before that and at home before that. 4 wasn't really a magic number. It was about 3 too many.
They weren't exactly the beer by beer cheap that we were hoping, it's like 28 bucks for a Bud Light tower. I'm sure it's over 30 for anything else they have (blue moon, Sam adams, etc.).
We sat outside. It was really nice actually, it's a GREAT people watching spot. I mean a GREAT people watching spot. Close enough to St. Marks, and right in the middle of the EV, you know. As Andrew J. commented, "Well that was another SCENE that just walked by".
The service was friendly, our waitress was pretty cool, they all dress in short shorts, high socks, tanks, etc. It's kind of their theme (their shirts say "I'm Bouncy" and pictures of them grace the front and back covers of the menus, which we didn't take a look at). It was actually really funny because a man came up to our waitress while she was grabbing another tower for us, and he said I don't know if you dropped this, Miss, it kind of blew out of the restaurant. It was a check for 5 grand. Our waitress took it inside to ask anyone about it. Andrew decided to tell her his joke, this pun, of which I was laughing really hard at how stupid it was. He goes, "Check for 5 g's? Hope it doesn't 'Bounce' mwahahahhaha......"
A lot of people seemed to stop by here during the day because they knew the staff, who were all very friendly. That was nice to see.
Inside was pretty spacious, it's a large place with booths and a large recess/booth in the back by the bathrooms. The rest is filled with tables for those who prefer eating. The bar has a few nice tvs, but what I saw on one of them I couldn't shake. I couldn't believe I was watching it. On ESPN no less.
It was rochambeau. Otherwise known as "rock paper scissors" championship. WHAT THE DEUCE.

As an undergrad my friends and I used to frequent a Providence dive called Louie's--it was the type of place that offered watery beers for a quarter, where people seemed dressed up for an odd reason, and where hard up coeds got shit-housed so that they could get some from Mr. or Ms. hookup of the moment.
Walking into Bounce I felt like someone had cleaned up Louie's, plopped it down on the Upper East Side and zoomed all the clientele (aged ten more years) in.
The place is so loud it's impossible to carry on a conversation, people play beirut in the back, towers of beer are available for around $40, girls are generally overdressed, while most guys are incredibly short and donning popped collars.
Was tempted to give this place 2 stars, but the doorman/bouncer, was pretty awesome, so they get a bump--but you won't ever find me back here.

A high end sports bar. The room is full of HD TVs and the selection of beers is good. Bounce claims to be a sports bar. If you can imagine a sports bar designed by Williams Sonoma, you'll get the idea.
This place isn't really for sports people. During a big play, in the big game, don't be surprised if half the crowd is chatting and drinking away, oblivious to the events on the screens. It seems like a place to see and be seen, rather than a real sports bar. The food is really good but you'll pay for it.

Bounce Deuce on second ave and 6th st is now closed, as of July 6, 2009
Bounce Deuce
103 2nd Ave NY 10003 at 6th st.
Bounce is a very energetic and reasonably priced sports bar. They have almost every game on with twelve 42-inch TV's above the bar and more screens around the bar so you are guaranteed to see the game you want to watch. It is a great place to go if you are a big sports fanatic like me. I love to go in on Saturday's to watch the college football games and obviously Sunday's are great for NFL games. The place is very crowed on the weekends filled with sports fan's mostly wearing their team's jersey so it's exciting with there is a big game on. The sports bar itself is great they have a private sitting room you can reserve if you have a big group coming in to watch a great game and they have booths you can also reserve. The food is what you expect at a bar, nachos, burgers, buffalo wings, chicken sandwiches, salads, and of course a variety of beer and drinks. The service is good and it has a bunch of cute girls behind the bar making drinks and waiting on tables. Bounce is also a great place to go on the weekdays after a hard day of work where you can grab a beer and watch whatever game is on.

I'd prefer not to have to make a reservation at a sports bar to watch a ball game. It was so incredibly busy for the Elite 8 games this weekend that there was no way for anyone off the street (read: me) to walk in, grab a beer, and watch the game.
Too popular/busy for its own good - I guess it's a problem they'd like to have.

What was I doing here?!?
Watching the Red Sox. I would never be found in sports bar without die-hards dragging me in...and I won't be going back to one any time soon.
My beer was $6-- and the only Sam Adams they had was the Summer Ale. Don't get me wrong-- I love it. IN THE SUMMER. It's October. There aren't ANY good beers in October...right? No big beer events, or anything? No eponymous festivals?
Whatever.
Our waitress was crazy, sort of endearingly. Fans were rowdy. The food was pricey.
Blahh.

Had one of my birthday parties here. Started at 1pm for the Jets-Bengals game and stayed for all the others until 7pm. Service was good. Not that friendly..but i don't really need friendly. Just promptness. Make sure all my people have their drinks and food ASAP. And that's exactly the service we got! I had the little VIPish lookin area to the left where there were flat screens on every wall. They try to please everyone so whenever someone requested a game they would change one TV so each one played a different game. Food was realllll yummy and i just like the crowd. Bounce is one of my top 3 favorite sports bars. FYI, Croxley's and MJ Armstrong's are my other two...just in case ya cared...

For me to write a review about Bounce Deuce would be like writing a review on how well Jessica Alba is in bed.
In other words, I never got in and will probably never ever get in.
I used Bounce Deuce like a $2 hooker in Tijuana. Just a look and nothing else.
See, I searched high and low for a bar that was playing the Mayweather-De La Hoya fight, and sadly Bounce Deuce was the only one playing it in the eastside.
Unfortunately, by the time I got there when the fight started, the bar was so full, they didn't let anyone else in. So I did like the hundreds who didn't get in did: stand outside and watched the fight through the window. And what an experience it was.
You can't experience that kind of thing in L.A. That is NYC at its best, and I'll never forget it, the yelling, the camaraderie, the mayhem, the cops arresting the overly inebriated, the making of new friends.
Four words: I love New York!

I've never actually stepped foot into Bounce Deuce, but I did peer through its windows for the last De La Hoya/Mayweather fight. Being that it might be one of the few bars in the St. Marks area that has HBO, that made this pro-De La Hoya bar a hot commodity that Saturday night, as did dozens of others who clammored around the outer perimeter of the building to watch the fight. If there's ever some weird opportunity to watch a sporting event and you can't get in, make sure to knock loudly on the windows to make people pull the screen curtain up. My friend relates it to going from YouTube to HDTV.
BTW, Mexico loves Mayweather, biatches!

It was GATOR madness there this Saturday.
I am not a Gator, from Florida or even a football fan but it was hard not to get sucked into the excitement! I went randomly to meet friends there - they were not there for the game either and sat outside on 2nd ave which was a great spot for people watching. Despite the fact that there were 2 million people inside our waitress did a pretty good job at keeping us in food and drinks.
The Gator fans were really great too. You might expect a huge group of young foot ball fans to be totally obnoxious but they weren't! They were definately having a good time and doing lots of cheering but they were not sloppy despite all the 2 foot beer bongs!
The hummus platter was tasty too.

I think this is supposed to be a sports bar that non-sport watchers can enjoy too. I was there on a Saturday and there were many people there to 'watch the games' that were just in a group not watching games, with one or two in each group really watching the game. There are plenty of TV's on the walls.
They have pitchers and huge beer bong thingees. Overall not bad, I guess it is a sports bar, but has a different feel than many others I have been to. I think the 'upscale' sports bar is a fitting moniker, but the whole term feels like an oxymoron to me.
The restrooms are decent, private uni-sex rooms with a communal sink. The stocking is decent, but check before you enter, overall okay, 3 Flushes

Being from England I was not too sure of what a 'frat-boy' was until I watched the mets game at Bounce last night. Now I know all too well and am not sure why they aren't described in far more colourful and Anglo-Saxon language!
Bounce is a busy, lively and noisy establishment that delivers on all of the requirements of a quality sports bar - cold, fresh beer; wholesome, tasty food; multiple flat screen TVs. In addition the staff are all gorgeous so even if the sport 'sucks' you have something diverting to watch. On top of it all, they are absolutely on their game too - the service is friendly, timely and polite.
So why only three stars? Well, a large part of the 'scene' in any place is the clientele and the folks who frequent Bounce range from the rude to the obnoxious.
I would definitely recommend Bounce but only on a weeknight or if you are going with a large group of friends and plan on getting very drunk!

What a fun place to watch a sports game!! I was here last weekend for some football and the five of us got to sit in one of their comfy round booths and enjoy the loud cheers, blasting games, many different plasmas TVs and of course the cool novelty that allowed us to pour our own beer. It was cool and not too expensive.
The food looked like the everyday bar pub food. My friend ordered the chicken fingers, which looked like chicken fingers. We had just come from brunch so we were only their to watch the game and have a drink.
If you want a fun atmosphere to watch a sports game, then head over to Bounce, you won't be disappointed.

If it wasnt for the scantily clad waitresses this place would be total poo.
The good:
A lot of TVs and it is a bit larger than the sister store up town.
The bad:
This place gets BUSY. I went here to catch the Kansas City Chiefs game and knowing how busy it gets I got there around 1130AM, being the first group to be in the bar and sat at the bar. I ask if we can get the game on one of the 4-6 TVs above the bar, the bartender says absolutely. In return of giving us the game we order lunch and plenty of 'adult' beverages.
Fast forward to game time, around 1PM Eastern and every game is on the TVs above the bar except the one that I requested. Keep in mind I asked 2 additional times just to make sure that we would be able to watch the game, to which she responded "not a problem." I am then told that they will not put it on over the bar, but instead to turn around and watch it on the back wall. Mind you this place is slammed with everyone watching the sets above the bar.
So here I am sitting with my back to the bar facing the entire crowd trying to watch my game, I felt like Clint Eastwood in a bad Western having a stare-off with 100+ of my closest NFL fans. I would understand them not putting the game on if I arrived late but after showing goodwill and staying/ordering plenty of food and drinks I expected to see the game that I requested. This left me in a bad situation as the game had started and at that point it wasnt like I could go to another bar and hope they would put the game on.
Needless to say I wont be back, I will find another sports bar in town that treats their patrons a bit better.

Yes, they have a decent number of TV's and the bartenders generally live up to their reputation.
However, the crowd is decidedly boring, the drinks are overpriced for the area and the food is lacking, even by sports bar standards.
Not much else to say, other than its certainly not my favorite sports bar and while I may be back for a game or two due to its location, it won't be my go-to place.
I found myself in Bounce Deuce TWO NIGHTS IN A ROW last weekend - once for the BC Bowl game and once for Penn State (me) and Giants-Pats (everyone else). This place is a SPORTS BAR, with all the trappings except for those stupid video trivia games. It's ringed with tv's, has a standard bar menu (plus some special stuff), and is staffed with attractive waitresses and bartenders.
GOOD
I found the service to be very friendly (and on one occasion LOONY). There's a reasonable selection of beers, and the towers are a fun novelty. The apps are tasty. Not a single spot that could house a tv is wasted. They have a good happy hour deal ($3 beers and 1/2 price apps, I think), until 7 on weeknights.
BAD
This place is trying to be something more than a sports bar. But, being a rare commodity in NYC allows sports bars to dress things up and charge a little more. Frankly, a good sports bar has lots of tv's, fast & friendly staff, and decent beer and munchies. This genre is one where I don't ask for anything more than a carbon copy suburban chain experience (BW3 anyone?).
BD does get very crowded (more for NFL than NCAA). This could be a good sign, or just an indication that sports fans don't have a lot of options in this city.
UGLY
On one occasion our friendly server (the loony one) disappeared in several 20-minute intervals leaving us high and dry. I didn't experience the stupid DJ interludes, but they sound like a nightmare.
We call this place Bounce Douche for a reason. The drinks are overpriced. My $9 Bloody Marys on a Saturday were a bit steep for the neighborhood. The waitresses are usually busy sticking their fake ta-tas in someone's face and not doing their jobs. It's like a bad frat party's 10-yr reunion. The one thing you can bank on is seeing a group of dudes drinking from the Tower of Douche...it's the 100oz beer tower. Mmm...nothin' says delicious like the warm, ass end of a 100oz beer tower.
People thought this was:

probably one of the better sports bar I've been to. Cheap beer when you order the tower/tube or whatever you call it. I usually just say bring us the tall ass beer.
Food is decent for a bar. Lots of TVs, cool atmosphere, friendly staff. On sundays you can watch just about any football game.
Got a DJ there playing music between commercials
Sat beneath scaffolding, on the sidewalk table, with a table tap of Magic Hat and a pulled pork sandwich. Serenaded by the Stumblebum Jazz Band who happened to be passing. Nice, but nothing special.
Environment is typical, flat screens all around. Service was pretty horrible. I think it was 10mins before someone came over and 15 more mins before the drinks arrived. Food was average tasting and overpriced. I think they want to be a high-end lounge, but its nothing more than a typical sports bar.

Was in town running an errand and needed to kill a few hours. Went on a slow Sunday afternoon (weekend before the Super Bowl). Service was quick since it wasn't crowded, prices and beer selection just average, bartender was gorgeous. Lots of flat screen TV's since it's a sports bar, but it didn't really have that sports bar feel, which is probably why they call it a "sports lounge." In hindsight I would probably go somewhere else to watch a game though. Just didn't feel right. Like Brianna S. said though, they had good intentions.

Good looking waitresses - I think that might be planned - who are also pretty friendly and very accomodating. Pretty good TV setup, though the big screen towards the back is sort of a waste as most people can't see it. Overall, this place is pretty good for the East Village, which has a ton of bars but not that many great sports bars.

Seemed like a college hang out that had an air of a sports bar... Although, not your traditional sports bar. I thought the beer bong to dispense at the tables were interesting, though. The waitresses carried around a tray of jello shots and whipped cream. Not quite my scene. I don't know if it's a place I'd go back again... except that the drinks are stiff! Which is a good thing. Interestingly enough, it was the first bar I've been to where I saw guys in line for the bathroom!

Entering this place at the beginning of the AFC Divisional playoff game was somewhat akin to descending into hell. I was so terrified by the mere sight of it that ran, fast, away from here. Screeching frat boys were schwilling beers from these large plastic tubes that had little taps on them, and it is just totally overcrowded; I watched one series and two different people jumped on my foot. Maybe some people like to be in that kind of environment to watch a game. I'm not one of them.
Bounce is good for happy hour during the week (2 for 1 drinks), but I'm not a fan of this place on the weekend (frat boy hangout). I enjoy coming on a Thurs night and grab a seat in the front corner area. When the weather is warm they open up the windows so you get to drink somewhat outdoors. For a sports bar, it's clean and has a good selection of beer.
