Now, if I tell you that I am a beer man you will agree. I love beer and breweries. The beer up here is tastey. Not the best in town by any means but it did the trick. It really tastes like a small batch local brew which is what I like. I suggest brewing a big beer, something in the 7.5-9% range. I would also ditch the dude behind the bar with the pony tail. He stood there and talked shit about other customers within earshot of me and my dining partner. Sure, it was funny, but what was he saying about us when we left? Bad form.
I had an awsome burger with gargonzola.
The place reminds me of small brew pubs up in Northern California that are nice to chill out in and talk beer.

The only restaurant of its kind around there, this place is so-so, sometimes surprising you with really good food, and other times disappointing you with really unpleasant meals.

I usually ask the wait staff and they help out, suggesting what they've seen, tried, or had good comments on.

It is a local place, where many people who know one another hook up or coincide. The wait staff is usually nice and attentive. The atmosphere is tavern-like though very dark (sit by the windows in the front!), a divided bar/restaurant, with another big room in the back where there's a pool table and a second bar, sometimes open, sometimes not. It's nice to have the bars away from the dining area.

The carpet is filthy! Wish they'd take it out. And that they'd attend to other weird building things that could really, really stand to be improved, fixed up, or demolished. The atmosphere feels like a "fixer-upper."

We still go there sometimes. It's truly a 50/50 toss -- you never know if you'll get something wonderful, or something very mediocre.

You have to be kidding me?!?

I hounestly kept waiting for someone to jump out with a camera and say, "Gotcha".

If this was the only brewery I had been to on the central coast, I might give it two stars, but considering the local choices, like the Seabright Brewery (4 star review to come) and the Santa Cruz Mountain Brewery (5 stars to come), this place needs to step up it's game.

Here's the facts. Food: ordered a turkey and mushroom sandwich. How can you screw that up, you ask? By melting enough low quality non-descript white cheese on it to soak through the bread and the wax paper it came out on. Side order of Garlic Fries? Hell yeah. Unless you serve them as a pile of regular fries with raw chopped garlic and more white cheese grated on top. No joke. Raw garlic and unmelted cheese on top.

Beer: Porter and Summer Wheat. The porter tasted like it was mixed with a pot of old coffee and had no carbonation at all. Flat would be an understatement. The summer wheat looked like budweiser, smelled like coors and tasted like a limed up day old corona.

I have friends that live near this place and have told them they have to meet me in Santa Cruz from now on. What a huge dissappointment.

Why the one star? Our waitress was really nice.
