I am reluctant to give away the coveted secrets of my people, the gays. We protect our little special ways like they are the scripts of ancient ruins, containing the mysteries of the universe. Why should I spill the beans? We must suffer social hardship, but damnit, on the flip-side we know where to get really good hair care products/shoes/home furnishings for half of what the rest of the world pays. And we're not about to give that up, no sir. You want to know where we shop? Make gay marriage legal, then we can talk.
But I am going to say one thing: there are, like, three outposts of Bottoms & Tops in Wilton Manors, all in the Wilton Drive area. (Make sure you check out all three! They're totally different!) Ignore the uber-gay name, there is no sex going on. What is happening, however, is clothes. Yes, clothes sweetie, jeans and swimsuits and shoes shoes shoes.
Every trip in here is an adventure. You never know what they'll dig up and toss out onto the sales floor. But there's always something on sale, and it's priced REALLY low.
I never understand why people will pay $375 for a tragically trendy shirt covered in glitter or some garbage, when it will be out of style in ten minutes, and all that money is wasted. But at Bottoms & Tops, you can get the trendiest of the trendy, at an entirely reasonable price--so you wear it and have your fun and be done with it, then you go shopping again for something else.
Ladies, if you want to dress up your boyfriend, take him to this place. Buy a pair of leather Italian ankle boots for $42, grab a tailored long-sleeved shirt--and the gays enjoy a trimmer cut, so these shirts don't have too much fabric around the belly, which poofs out and makes him look lumpy--and he'll look great. And because you bought it in the "gay area" (insert ominous music here!), none of your other friends will be wearing the same thing. So he'll look cool.
I'm done typing now. Thanks for reading. And if you're not going to legalize gay marriage, at least make it legal for gay people to adopt kids, there is no reason for that to be illegal. Come on. I'll tell you how I color out all the gray in my hair AND NO ONE KNOWS I DO IT. Boo-ya, that's a good one.
O the gays, so funny with their double entendre names for their clothing stores.
Here in Fort Lauderdale's Wilton Manors section, far from the fast living of NY or the high brow culture of Miami, the gays think its quaint to name a clothing shop Tops and Bottoms or Bottoms and Tops, o the versatility, tee, hee, tee, friekin, hee.
If you're not gay and can't figure it out, go rent the first season of Queer as Folk and get back to us.
Trollopy name aside, the store does have an excellent assortment of clothing and most engaging sales staff. The brands are high end and so you see them catering to a high end but decidedly young gay with their Energie, G Star Raw and Diesel jeans where nothing is less than $150.
They've got the jeans no matter what position your in. ;)
Bottoms and Tops, in the Shoppes at Wilton Manors, is a great place to find trendy clothes shoes and accessories for men. A helpful front end staff (next door to Georgie's Alibi).
The sales staff and manager are friendly and helpful.
Bottoms and Tops has a great collection of trendy shoes and boots, men's jewelry, watches, rings and cologne. They're a great source for unusual jeans, but prices on the higher demand jeans will run around $200+ and they tend to have limited sizes. Also a good source for Diesel Brand products and Aussie Bum shorts/underwear.
Price: B ( a bit pricey, but when compared to other shoppes that carry the same brands, the prices are pretty much in line.)
