Review from Elizabeth T.

Having a background in dance, I can firmly say that Julia is one of the best dance teachers I have taken classes with. I started studying tap with her several years ago in Brookline and was thrilled for her - and her students - when she opened her studio. Despite my dance background, I felt pretty sure tap wasn't my thing but Julia is very encouraging and knows how to teach to different people. She also runs the Beantown Tapfest, has a strong performance background, and always knows of a visiting dancer, band or tap jam to get inspired and practice.
Although I haven't taken any of the Irish step classes with Keiran, I've seen some student performances and they take me back to when I lived in Ireland. They look like so much fun and I hope to try them out when I have the opportunity.
Not to mention, the studio is super close to the T but also near the Green Street parking garage which has to be the absolute cheapest garage in the city. -

Boston Percussive's Irish step classes are great! They've created a fun supportive atmosphere with a lot of in depth instruction on steps, rhythm, timing and the culture. I've taken classes from Kieran and Siobhan and would recommend both!

fun, friendly, and challenging classes!
I have been taking tap classes here for more than a year and hope to never stop. Julia is a great instructor and has a passion for tap that is infectious. -

This is a new studio in Central Square close to the Dance Complex. It was founded by tap dancer Julia Boynton and Irish step dancer Kieran Jordan as a home base for tap, Irish step, and other forms of percussive dance. The studio has a new sprung floor perfect for percussive dance. I am taking the beginner Irish Dance class with Kieran and it is such a treat. We are learning both Sean Nos (old style) Irish dancing and step dancing and ceilih dancing. All involve fast footwork and great music! It is much more of a workout than you would expect. And Kieran is such a wonderful person, teacher and dancer. There is a community feeling to this class--already we have been invited to several fun events and people in the class are friendly. You can drop in but I recommend signing up for a whole series as the lessons build on each other and it can be hard if you miss a class. I am loving the class and thoroughly recommend it!

Julia Boynton is a fantastic teacher. Her classes are incredibly fun and she's great about spotting what your technique problems are, so you can improve. This takes time, energy, attention, and a lot of knowledge, and you don't get this kind of instruction everywhere. She's also patient and supportive. Lastly, tap is probably the most fun you can have standing up--I'm an adult beginner, so if you something you've always wanted to try, do it.
