One of Boston Marriott Copley Place's Favorite Reviews What's This?
This is easily a five star hotel, world class, excellent. I am very impressed with both the quality of the accommodations and the fantastic service. Exceptional in every way. Check-in was perfect, expertly done, efficient, accurate and with a smile. Room is perfect in all regards. Bed very comfortable. Access, location, views all perfection. Stay here! Highly recommended.

I scored a great deal on priceline: $95 for a $300 room. If I paid $300, I might not have been as impressed.
Overall, bed was super comfy (especially after a red eye flight from the West Coast), location is very central to shopping and transportation, and great amenities with late hours (i.e., pool and spa closed at 11pm). Sports fans: the sports bar stays open late and has a crazy large screen.
I love this hotel - my parents always stay here when they come to visit and I always stay with them. It is so conveniently located and has great amenities.
My only issue with the hotel are the elevators. Sometimes you wait a LONG time for one. They seem to have a lot, but I don't think they all work at the same time, and for such a big hotel, they need to all be working.
My family loved the bar that used to be here, the Rose Terrace. They had great live music and a fun crowd. When we stayed here recently, we were worried that it wouldn't be the same. They have the Champions sports bar, which is fun and has a great selection of beer, but it gets crowded at the bar and the atmosphere isn't the same. But they have a new lounge, Connexions, I believe, which was nice and a good place for a nightcap.
Yuck.
More like the Mariott Crappy Place. The hotel is undergoing renovations and it feels like it's too little too late. The rooms are cramped and outdated. The hallways smell like funk (probably from the days when smoking was allowed everywhere, but especially here), and they don't have wifi. You have to hook your computer up at the desk into a prehistoric plug. The only perk is the location. That's it.
Marriott, I'd like to welcome you to the year 2009. Now please get with the program.
In Boston for a business trip (representin' EW @ AATS). One of the conference hotels happened to be the Boston Marriott Cop-a-feel.
I arrived in a taxi from BOS Logan, but there's no one waiting outside in the turnaround. The lobby was empty. But sure, this was Friday morning.
The lobby reaks of late 1970s 'opulence.' Lots of reds and golds. They have a lobby bar area that opens in the evenings, so that is a kicker.
Got my key and cruise up to the 27th floor. Open up and I find more of that old-world bleh. The rooms are quite outdated. I looked at my key card sleeve - $285. I would never pay anything like that for this room.
The carpet is pretty dingy. The lack of mini-bar had me cradled in the fetal position on my bed. The bed, by the way, was soft but lumpy in places, with portions of the stitching detached. It was pretty shabby.
The good about the room? Nice new-ish 42" LG flat screen. AMAZING view over Back Bay, the Carles River and out toward Logan and the ocean.
The location is nice. Shaw's supermarket right across the street. Killer shopping about two blocks away along Boylston and Newbury. Lots of restaurants.
The hotel itself is just sub-par, especially at that rate. Sorry, you will have to do better than that. Just because it's a captive audience doesn't mean you can mark shit up and keep low quality. Oh wait, that's exactly what it means. Be forewarned!

I had the unfortunate luck of staying here for three nights (one of which was during the Craigslist killer murder and the next night was when news reporter trucks lined up outside of the building throughout the day). The Marriott didn't alert any of their guests of the murder and the only way I found out was turning on the television...to see the exterior of the hotel and news reporters outside.
Misfortune aside, the Marriott has a gorgeous view of the Charles River and I was on the top floor. The location is perfect and it is connected to the mall (Cheesecake factory, Starbucks, shopping, groceries). It's second floor connects to an escalator that opens up to a mall with high-scale stores and nice restaurants. It's also a short walk to Newbury and Boston University.
I am a pretty serious Marriott girl, as folks generally know, and having stayed in many of them across the country, this is a pretty sad excuse for a Marriott. First off, there were no suites at all available because the hotel was under renovation, which was annoying, but would have been nice if they had at least warned me when I booked instead of telling me they'd see what they could do.
The elevators are a mess, with three banks that all go to overlapping floors. Seriously? Do you really need to continuously confuse your guests? I guess the answer is yes!
The phone in our room didn't work. Awesome. I had some girlfriends over for the beginning of a bachelorette party, so I didn't want them fixing the phone while we were all in there. The concierge sent up electricians anyway, despite my requests not to have them sent up. Thanks for listening.
There was no ice machine on our floor (really? on an elite floor, no ice machine?) and when I called down to room service for an extra ice bucket (from the hallway phone no less), I got passed back and forth between housekeeping and room service for a good ten minutes before I was told they would only bring me an empty ice bucket (thanks) and I could not have a knife or any other sharp object but I could go to the restaurant on the first floor for a plastic knife. Have you ever tried to cut a lime with a plastic knife? Don't bother unless you really want some lime-ade.
Room service was quick and decent, although beware the hot wings! they are amazingly spicy. The jumbo shrimp cocktail is awesome though. One star extra just for that, no joke. It almost compensates for the fact that the concierge lounge for elite guests is closed on Saturdays! WTF?
Overall, this is a pretty sad excuse for a Marriott. I think they could do a lot better with a little attention, for now, I won't be back. Proximity to the mall be damned, I want to be comfy and pampered when I stay at a hotel!

This is a very nice hotel by Copley Plaza - great location. We got it for just $70 a night via Priceline and we were quite pleased. We asked for a room with 2 double beds and got it on the 24th floor with a stunning view of Boston, the Charles River and the hills beyond. The staff is very friendly, available and helpful. The whole floor we were on was non-smoking, which was great.
The Starbucks staff on the 2nd floor were not very professional, but the lobby restaurant, Champions, was wonderful.
The beds were very comfortable and the room was clean. The bathroom had plenty of towels, toilet paper and tissues. What the bathroom lacked was a fan and complimentary shower cap and shower gel. Room internet was $12.50 per 24 hour period. All in all we were pleased though.

So we were going to Boston to see the Sox and we needed a decent place to stay. I have enough Marriott points to own one at this point so we decide to stay as close to the park and downtown area as we can. This review is not only for the hotel itself but for the Marriott corporation as a whole. When my wife made the reservations, she was assured that our points were going to be used against the room and that it would cost us nothing. When I called he day before to try and upgrade the room, I was then told that our points were not being used and that our room was $385.00 per night. I explained to the very nice (no sarcasm) customer service rep that she was mistaken and that we were supposed to get the room using our Marriott points. The woman informed me that all the Marriott points rooms were already booked for that weekend so we would have to pay out of pocket. I asked for her supervisor and was immediately transferred to an even nicer woman who contacted the actual hotel and made sure that our room was reserved using our points and that we got the upgraded room as well. Talk about going the extra mile for a customer! Rarely have I been treated so kindly and with that much respect (regardless of how many points I have). Because of this, I asked to speak to the supervisor's supervisor. Again, I was immediately put through to her manager (albeit voicemail), where I left a glowing recommendation for both the rep and her supervisor as well as how impressed I was with my overall experience.
The hotel itself is a typical Marriott. Clean room. clean bathroom, newer TV. A bit small by comparison to other Marriott's I have stayed at and for Christ's sake...how about a coffee pot with more than 2 sugars and 2 creamers? Thankfully, this particular Marriott was situated across the street from a Dunkin' Donuts so I could "two cahfee regulahs" every morning. A huge bright spot was the indoor pool on the 6th floor. Small, but well kept and very clean. It gave my daughter something to do for a few hours Sunday morning.
While this is nothing against the hotel, there was an anime convention the weekend we stayed and the FREAKS and GEEKS that littered every corner of the hotel were a nuisance and for the most part very rude and inconsiderate of the other guests. They shoved their way onto the elevators and gave you the evil eye when you stared. These morons actually dressed like their favorite characters, replete with homemade costumes utilizing duct tape and their mother's curtains. Other than that, our stay was perfect.

I have stayed here several times over the past few years and think this is one of the nicest Marriott's around. The front desk here is extremely helpful (especially if you're silver elite) and we have usually been able to check in early too.
While the Internet is not free here, the rooms are very nice and most of the views are pretty spectacular too (if you're facing the Charles). You also cannot beat the location of this Marriott. It's close to almost everything...the orange line, green line, Prudential, Copley, Newbury Street, and within walking distance to downtown.
The only con is the price here...which can be very steep compared to staying at the Courtyard for example.
Staying at this hotel was like going on vacation to a communist country.
This Hotel stay was awful from the moment we checked in.
First the women checking us in had an attitude. We were staying here for Anime Boston, however, my friends and I don't look like your typical anime watching virgins, we look like real people, so even if the women was frustrated by all the socially retarded nerds checking in we should of been a fresh breath of fresh air.
Then she makes as sign a "contract" that pretty says we won't do anything but sleep, breathe, shower and poop in our hotel room. I've never had to sign ANYTHING while checking into a hotel. It made me nervous. I wonder if they would of made a 50 year old couple wearing Ralph Lauren do the sign the same thing.
So we get on the elevators and there is a sign that says "No alcohol aloud in hotel rooms" (unless purchased by room service ofcorse), and we're like wtf, I'm 24 years old and we're paying over 200 dollars a night. If I wanna drink in this hotel, I will drink in this hotel.
So we get in our room, which wasn't bad. Flat screen TV and the beds were so comfortable. But those were the only two good things!
So my friend checks her bank balance, and the hotel had put "on hold" more then it cost to stay there. Now we've been to a lot of hotels and none has ever taken money or put money "on hold" until we have checked out.
We asked the front desk for towels, they never came.
And here is the worst part...
We couldn't even crack our window. It was bolted shut. Maybe they didn't want us smoking.... maybe they didn't want us to jump out. But if I really wanted to kill myself I would of threw a chair through the glass or something. The room got very stuffy and there was no way of airing it out.
Next time I want to be treated like this, I'll just go to North Korea, thanks.

I have stayed at this hotel on many occasions and have never had an issue. The rooms are always clean, and not smoke filled. Its located right in Copley so there is tons to do in the area, which is always nice.
I used to have to visit the Hancock Tower for work a few times a year, so this is where I always chose to stay.
The building is huge, and normally I got to stay around floor 20, so the view was always very nice. The room service is surprisingly resonably priced as well.
I didn't stay here, though I did get lost several times in the maze of a multi-floor lobby this place has. I'm pretty sure M.C. Escher designed the hotel.
They did have a cool beverage dispenser at the front desk that I thought had lime-aid in it. It turned out to be cucumber water, which made me almost spit it out unintentionally. I guess that makes more sense than lime-aid. Oh well.

For six days and five nights, I was housed at the Marriott Copley for an industry conference at the Hynes Convention Center. My room was spacious, clean and beds were very comfortable. I was on the 11th floor and had a great view of the city. Great gym with more than one treadmill and elliptical machine.
The staff is very friendly and accommodating to the guests needs. I especially am grateful for the friendly bell staff for helping me schlep boxes to and from various meeting rooms for my company at the crack of dawn!
My only drawback for this hotel is the charge for Internet access. Talk about highway robbery. At least I was able to find a wi-fi connection but that wasn't up to par.. Despite this, it's still a great hotel with affordable prices..
If your ever in Boston, stay at the Marriott.

Great location. Great service. Clean + and apparently recently renovated rooms and corridors. Multitude of restaurants within the hotel + a walk-out into the chic shopping at Copley Place and the more reasonable Prudential Center malls. Pool + health spa. And quite possibly THE most comfortable hotel bed that I have ever slept on - not a joke, I want to find out what it is and buy one for myself - it's one of those you sink into but it's still supportive, which is just what I needed. Also, it's a huge tower so some great views of the city and smack dab in the middle of everything you could ask for.
All in all, you can expect quality and consistency from Marriott - in fact, i'd say they are synonymous. Hit http://www.priceline.com and try getting a room here for $150, it usually takes, but with fees and taxes it comes to about $180, and you can get a room from the site directly for $200, so might be worth going to that.
Highly recommended.

Pros: Comfy beds, lots of restaurant and bar options within walking distance, efficient check in service.
Cons: Ridiculous charges for internet access. Good think I've managed to find a free wi-fi connection!

Great location, walking distance to almost everything in Boston. Rooms were clean and comfy. My kids wanted to stay in the room and play but I was able to drag them out and see the city. If you get lost in Boston its easy to find as its across the street from the Prudential Bldg so all you have to do is look up and you can find your way back.
All the good restaurants and shops are two blocks away, Boston Commons a few more blocks. Duck Tour which you have to do is across the street.
Not at all expensive accept during Taste of Boston or other big events it can get up there.
Stayed here for 5 nights during a conference I attended for work.
Very comfy beds were a plus....after long days listening to mundane drivel, it was great to unwind in the nice king sized number my room had.
Internet access is 13 bucks per day...boooooo
Good access to shopping malls, tourist traps, chain restaurants and the nearby Sheraton.

I stayed here when I tagged along to Boston with my wife for one of her business conferences.
Good: nice view, close to shopping and lots of restaurants, also close to the green line, and very walkable for gawky tourists like me. The rooms were clean and well maintained, and the tea tree oil shampoos and conditioners were definitely better than the normal Brand X stuff you get in hotels.
Bad: Internet access was $10 per day. No way in hell I'm paying that much when I can walk around for a few blocks and find a free hot spot instead. Most hotels, especially ones that cater to conferences, offer this service for less or for free. Also, the lobby felt like I was in an office building from Miami Vice circa 1986. Lots of gold and escalators, the image only ruined by the Starbucks.

It's a chain but gosh darn this location is awesome. It's got something for everyone. Since my group was big on shopping, being connected to a mall got it uber points. I love the fact that it was in the Back Bay and was central to walking or running to everything. What a way to get your morning started with treks along the Charles River, crossing Harvard/ Mass Bridge into MIT then heading over to Longfellow Bridge into Beacon Hill. It's central location made it easier to hit up all the touristy stuff and the good local stuff which imo, makes the hotel even better.
It's not that big of a deal but the concierge are a bit on the older side. I'm in my late 20s, I'm not the spring chicken I used to be but I like to let my hair down now and then. It was quite obvious that they don't do that and part of me felt like I'd get reprimanded for going out. However, maybe they do and I'm being judgmental. My bad.

I didn't know that when I picked this hotel I was also choosing the mall that went with it. Fabulous option, kids. I happened to get upgraded to concierge level which gave me SWEET service, too bad i didn't take advantage of it because I'm a dork and had no idea that the room with the food was for me too! Geez.
Anyways, great hotel and views for all...You're near everything, including restaurants, shops (and not just the ones in the mall) and other places worth visiting. Newbury is only a hop skip and jump away, and you're also near the T, so you'll get to travel even further while there! Save up tho, you might go broke staying here, but on the company dime, it's a good bet. Coffee lines in the lobby can be long, so make your own in your room if you need it to get going. Also, if your conference is in Hines, get your sleepy butt up early because it is a little walk away, even through the mall.

Excellent location in the Copley Square area! Very close to subway station, shopping, dining, and grocery. Rooms are spacious and clean, and beds are very comfortable! Decent views from rooms.
The hotel is a good venue for conferences and conventions. There are many meeting rooms that hold 50-75 people. Hotel staff were good about providing water pitchers, clean glasses, and notepads and pens in all of the meeting rooms.
I stayed at the hotel for a conference, so one of the downsides was that the elevators took forever. This was because so many of the conference attendees went from floor-to-floor between meeting rooms and between their room and meeting rooms.
Another deal scored by my boyfriend from http://Priceline.com!! The location is super awesome because it's connected to the mall. (I like shopping!) Plus, the area is filled with plenty of shops, restaurants and bars, which I think is great for out-of-towners. The room was spacious and clean. The front desk employees are all very nice.

A Marriott. Not much more to say. I have stayed here on a few different occasions and it is pretty consistent. The rooms are fine, but nothing special. I was upgraded to a nice corner room on a high floor, so got to enjoy the view of snowy Boston the day after a storm. It is in a nice location to get around Boston.
I wish they would put 4 pillows instead of 3 on the bed so that we could both have two pillows. I know I could have called house keeping, but it just turns into more of a hassle. Also, seems to be a cost cutting thing to have only two bath towels. Not a huge probelm, and again, a call to housekeeping would take care of it, but with limited time, it is just a pain in the neck.
So, a Marriott. No surprises.
I have no idea how much the rooms cost but the one I was in was Fabu! We were on the top floor in a prefered guest room, I am not sure if we are still considered a prefered guest but whatever. We had a great view and the window opened always a plus. We had a great time and totally enjoyed the view.

I stayed here recently for a conference; I was on the planning committee so I didn't have to pay for my room--which I'm sure colors my thinking. Hard to complain about something that I'm not even paying for. But then again, someone was (paying) so I now feel ok giving my review.
I was on the 30-something floor and the views of Boston, especially at night, are wonderful.
There seems to be very high level of security; I don't know if that is due to the high-end stores in the adjacent malls or what, but I felt fine wandering around kind of late at night, heading out to the Tstop at the Hynes end of the mall, whatever.
I did not use the pool or work-out area. Generally the lobby area is clean, somewhat crowded, but it is a busy hotel. The rooms used by our group for the conference were fine and comfortable.
The room I shared with a colleague was very comfortable, spacious bathroom and adequate closet space...but no in room fridge. Having a grocery store across the street is great; I picked up some fresh fruit and things for munching.
I ate lunch in one of the hotel restaurants and had an overpriced tuna sandwich and bowl of soup.
Easy walk to other t stops and Newbury Street shopping.

Not too bad! Comfy beds, Body Shop toiletries, and as part of that gerbil-tunnel complex in the middle of Beantown...it's great location if you're going to a meeting at the Hynes because you never have to brave the weather (just the mall crowds).
Their lobby always smells like chicken nuggets, and it's in a terrible area. Really there's nothing worth doing nearby. Stay at the Boston one instead, you get more for your money.

Great location, friendly staff, very nice housekeeping staff. Seriously, housekeeping managed to straighten up my room on two different days when I was only gone to the fitness room for an hour - they are fast and crafty about getting the job done! There's a Shaw's across the street with a salad bar and a decent wine selection. I didn't realize till I got here that you can walk indoors through the mall all the way up to Boylston (and any other direction too), so Newbury Street is right at the curb basically, without having to walk through the snow and rain and horizontal sleet. Fitness room has plenty of good quality machines, no waiting. Comfy bed with fluffy cotton linens and comforter...
Great location- though be careful crossing the street. Its right across from Shaws. Great heated indoor pool. Rooms were small and cramped. Try to stay on the 30th floor or higher-- incredible views.
perfect central location! We always stay here when traveling into the city. Do stay on a high floor and ask for a corner room
the views are outstanding. it's connected to all the shopping, so you don;t even have to go outside
they have garage parking, which is expensive, but they all are in that area!
Before becoming a bostonian, I stayed here. Very clean hotel, I think I had the most amazing night sleep on their bed! Smack in the middle of the city, offers a mall and resturants right in the facility. Great for tourists or families looking at near by colleges. Could be a little pricey though...not sure I didnt pay for it!
