I love the customer service here... It's top notch. I came in the other day and ordered some sides to go with the pork cops I made at home and though the sides I offered weren't ready the people working back behind the counter kept me in the loop about the time I would feet my food SMS even went as fat as giving me a small extra on the side because of my wait time. The even ordered me a soda! You can tell they genuinely care about their customers and want your back.
For stars because I thought the yams could be strained better and the dressing was just so so. Other than that I will be back. -

Reasons are plain and simple. The portions I received were small, they wouldn't allow a simple substitution of the cornbread for some more veggies, and I feel like their check ups are less helpful and more of a bother, especially when slapping one of those card application forms in front of you with a pencil as if to pressure you to fill it out on the spot.
Anyway, the food was alright, but you can go to almost any other restaurant and get a more satisfying meal for 10 bucks. -

I don't know why I'm the duke when I was only here twice because I was in town. They get 2 stars because I spent a lot of money there because I was feeding a family of 15 only to get to the meeting and 4 sides I ordered were missing. FAIL!

Don't discount Boston Market on just being for Whole Rotisserie Chickens and sides for dinner.
Don't discount your hunger pangs at lunch time either, because you should pull in here and get yourself an amazing sandwich. Don't even go with the Chicken at all I say.
Screw that chicken and get yourself a Hand Carved Roasted Turkey Carver. I hate that the word Carve is in the name twice.
You get this giant sandwich. Hand carved slices of Turkey Breast with Parmesan Dill Sauce, Swiss Cheese, Tomatoes and Greens on a white or multi-grain roll, with one side and a drink. My side Mac N' Cheese and for a drink, water.
The sandwich was huge. It had fresh ingredients and juicy Turkey piled high. One of the best sandwiches I've ever had honestly. I was not expecting to be confronted with such goodness.
The Mac N' Cheese was alright but was definitely over shadowed by the outstanding sandwich. I only ate half of my sandwich because it was to big. They have the calories listed on the menu also. I love that and am glad I chose what I did based on Calorie count alone.
I'm really starting to think Boston Market is over looked as a tasty lunch spot. I've been here for dinner in the past and was not impressed.
For lunch, you got yourself an extra star my friend. My juicy sandwich building friend.Listed in: Its Not A Song, Its A…

Not even edible....
This is a review of the food and an employee who works there. The food at Boston Markets in general is pretty average, for fastish food it's definitely the top of the food chain.
I ordered a pretty simple thing...1/4 dark chicken(spicy), mashed potatoes, and green beans. The mashed potatoes came and they had this strange texture and skin like coating mixed into them....very strange. And no spicy sauce. The cashier was VERY NICE and VERY accommodating ALFREDO who was serving food seemed all bent out of shape that I complained about the strange potatoes and sauce on the side. He proceeded to give me MORE potatoes....a big spoon full on top of the strange pototoes...whatever. Then ALFREDO proceeded to squirt the "spicy" sauce all over the chicken, NOT on the side, and probably 2 to 3 times more then normally would even be on there. The kicker was the sauce tasted bad and was COLD....like out of the fridge cold. When I pointed this out to ALFREDO he just shugged. I asked for a new piece of chicken. By this time I really didn't want to eat anyways!!!
I mean it's a fast food what do I expect...I actually expect pretty much what ALFREDO gave which was inedible food served up with an uncaring attitude about what he was doing. UGH!!!
On a good note the cashier should be promoted to Manager or something because he was clearly upset by ALFREDO's behavior!Listed in: Not so good!

A solid 3 stars.
Main thing I order is their Mac N Cheese but all the other dishes aren't too bad either. I come here sometimes only if I'm in the area. -

I can't believe this place has bad reviews... We eat here all the time, really good food, good service, great for nights you don't want to cook and you don't want greasy fast food. We love the chicken, turkey, Mac and cheese, zucchini squash casserole is amazing! And we love the corn bread.

A three star rating only means one thing: not bad, not good... in our case, this particular Boston Market - just is.
Pro: if you're hungry, this place can fix you.
Con: if you're hungry, this place will fix you with calories.
Pro: the restaurant was clean and the cashiers were friendly.
If you don't know what you really want, chances are Boston Market on Contra Costa is a viable answer. One of the best places to acquire a rotisserie chicken in under three minutes. If you're not dieting or enjoying an unnaturally-high metabolism, go here for crisp, juicy chicken. If you feel like defying death by heart-attack, go for the mac-and-cheese -- I'm throwing my hands-up now and saying I did it... and loved it.
... that is, until two hours post-meal consumption. For a follow-up story, see my review on : Roto-Rooter. -

I used to enjoy Boston Market back when I lived in Oakland over 8 years ago. I remember loving their meat loaf and their corn bread but have not had it since. We did order a whole turkey and ham once for Thanksgiving a few years ago but I can't remember anything about it. Boyfriend says the ham was too salty for me though.
However, this review is for the meal we had today. We ordered take out and that is the reason I am giving this 2 stars instead of 1--I am giving them the benefit of the doubt that had we had the food when freshly served, it would have been better.
I ordered the meat loaf, sweet corn, creamy spinach, and corn bread. The corn bread was sweeter than I remember it being (overly sweet to me, but just a bit) and not as good as I remember. But again, maybe if it was still warm, it would've been better. As it was, it was still on the positive side of ok.
The sweet corn was also good. Nothing fantastic or different than what you'd get from a can, although the kernels were bigger than what you normally see. This pretty much was the bulk of my dinner because everything else I had was so disgusting that I ended up throwing almost all of it away.
First, the spinach. I got this because I read other reviewers here rave about it. I've never had creamed spinach before. As far as creamed spinach goes, it's all right and if you like that kind of stuff, I could see how you'd enjoy this. For myself though, it looked too unappetizing and had an unpleasant texture that my mouth didn't believe was appropriate for spinach. I also didn't enjoy the cheesiness of it (ie. the "cream"), but all that is just personal preference. My general complaint about this side is that it it was way too salty.
The meatloaf was the worst part of the meal. So disappointing because I used to love love love this meatloaf. I don't know if my tastes have changed over the years or if the quality is just different, but I had about 4 small bites and ended up throwing about 95% of it away. Just the look of it was disgusting. Meatloaf, even yummy meatloaf (not that I eat meatloaf often), usually looks pretty gross anyway. Boston Market meatloaf looked GROSS. Brown bricks with brown sauce. When I visualize meatloaf, for some reason I expect some red--probably the ketchup in it. I'm not sure if Boston Market uses ketchup in their meatloaf and certainly there is not the slightest hint of red to the dish.
What I found most disgusting about the meatloaf though was the texture. They must grind their meat to paste consistency before cooking it because the texture more resembled spam than hamburger. Smooth meatloaf just isn't right.
It might have been saved by the flavor, but the flavor was just eh--and on the downside of eh.
My boyfriend had the quarter chicken, cole slaw, and mashed potatoes. The chicken was good. Nothing special, a bit salty as other reviewers have mentioned. Tasted like rotisserie chicken from the supermarket, but very moist. Mashed potatoes were also good. Those 2 items also contribute to why I'm giving them 2 stars. He didn't like the coleslaw. Said it didn't taste like his idea of coleslaw. He said it was like "a healthy person's version of coleslaw."
Overall a terrible meal for myself, although the boyfriend got some slight enjoyment of his meal. He had also ordered a chicken sandwich for lunch earlier and said that was good except there was nowhere near enough mayo or mustard.
I don't think I have any desire to ever eat at a Boston Market again in my life after this. Now I eat something yummy to erase the memory of this horrible meal. -
Review from Eric B.
It was a long and hot day yesterday as I played house husband and Gayle was at the grand opening of the new and wonderful Walnut Creek Library. And at dinner time, all she wanted was some chicken and the chance to hang out home. I suggested Boston Market and headed down there to pick up a bird and some sides.
Normally, Boston Market's offerings will "do" in a pinch, like large groups or takeout ready to eat. And I have had decent experiences both at this Boston Market and the one off Broadway in Oakland. This time around, I took one look at the overcooked sides and the menu that doesn't lend itself well for Dinner for 2, and headed straight out and onward for a Safeway chicken. -
Review from Linda M.
If Boston Market (BM) were a person...I'd kiss them right now. They saved my ass this weekend.
I've lived in PH for years, and not once have I been compelled to go to BM. But we've been caught up in this social whirlwind of entertaining and partygoing that is the holidays around our house. And between that and work, I've been absolutely going nuts.
I was assigned to bring the "hot vegetable or casserole" for a party w/ 36 attendees this past weekend. In my book, there's nothing worse than overcooked or limp re-heated veggies that should be served al dente crisp...and while I can bring myself to choke down those traditional green bean casseroles...they just aren't my favorite. Plus frankly, after the 14 lbs of latkes and dinner for 10 I'd served up the day before, I didn't have the time or energy to cook anything myself.
So I thought I'd pick up a bunch of those creamed spinach signature side dishes from Safeway and put them all in a casserole dish...but wouldn't you know it...all our store had in the green veggie genre was green bean casserole. So I hightailed it over to BM...and they served me up a giant vat o creamed spinach and the manager gave me a free drink for the minute or two I had to wait to get it.
It fit perfectly into a 9x13 casserole dish. It supposedly fed 30-40 people. They practically licked the dish clean at the party (and I'm sure none of the kids ate it). It was the perfect re-heatable dish and all I had to do was dump it from the catering container into a real dish. Bless you BM for making it so easy for us to continue the night-after-night artery-clogging feeding frenzy we call Hanukkah.
One of these years, I'm going to convince the love-o-my-life that it really would be better to go out of town for the holidays. Meantime...I'm keeping BM in mind for emergency catering needs.Listed in: Pleasant Hill, Kid Friendly Eats: East Bay

The service at this location is terrible. The owner of this particular franchise is a total jerk and would not honor an internet coupon sent to me by Boston Market corporate even though I had pre-placed the order via the http://bostonmarket.com website. It only got surreal when he started lecturing me on how he's only a franchisee and honoring the coupon would cause him to lose money! - uh, okay, so get a real job!
When I got home with my banquet order, half the side orders were only filled half way. What gives? If you're not going to discount my order by honoring the coupons, at least give me my money's worth.
I dig Boston Market normally and love the meat loaf, but I will never patronize this particular store again. -

So far, this has been a good location. The customer service here has been consistently good. Maria has taken our order twice and has been a pleasure to talk to (and very patient with me...I rarely know exactly what I want and frequently make changes to and specific requests)
The food is good, turkey and chicken both very moist. Good side dish options too. Gravy for the mashed potatoes and turkey is also very tasty...a little salty though at the last visit. I also wish they had actual dinner rolls, not just cornbread.
All in all, I like this place -

I was driving down Contra Costa Blvd., on my way back to my office for an evening meeting, and needed to pick up a quick dinner. I spot Boston Market and think, "mmm sides."
I enjoy meat every now and then, but when there are so many sides to choose from then I just stick with those. Luckily, Boston Market has a meal dedicated to their sides. For less than $6 you get three sides and cornbread.
The cornbread is okay. I appreciate that it doesn't have actual corn kernels in it. I love cornbread but don't like corn kernels. For the sides I went with mac and cheese, creamed spinach and steamed vegetables (in a sad attempt to make my dinner somewhat healthy). The steamed veggies were okay, still had a bit of a bite to them, and it is nice that they mark the "healthy" side options on their menu. Their mac and cheese is creamy and tasty but pretty standard mac and cheese. I could eat buckets of their creamed spinach. -

BM sweet potato! OMG!!
I want to just go behind the counter and sink my whole body in a vat of Boston market sweet potatoe!
I paid $27 for 2 rotisetrie chickens. 3 gourmet sides- streamed veggies, mashed tayters and sweet potatoes. and ceaser salad. My family pigged out and we had plenty of left over rotisetrie chicken to feed us for another evening. Good eattin'! -

The only good thing on my plate was the corn bread. The meat loaf wasn't good and the smashed potatoes tasted as they were instant potatoes!

I normally take out from Boston Market, so my experiences in-dining experience would be at a three-star. Yet, what makes the four-star experience is the exceptional, yes overly cheesy customer service at the cashier. Top notch, know how to market when they should, and just give it all the way to the end the service one needs to leave with a smile.
The food never disappoints me, so I cannot agree with the other reviewers. All in all because I am a sporadic customer, I have always received exceptional service. -

I love the squash casserole. I have stopped trying to get any of the meats as they are often way too salty. I have had both wonderful and terrible service here. If you need a fast bite, it is fine but don't expect great food. BTW, it is always clean in here. I wish I could just give a "cleanliness" 5 star.

Great Service! Was there recently on Sunday, Sept 13th afternoon 2:30pm. The guy who took our order was so nice, helpful and friendly! Knew all the products, had our order ready quickly and checked on our table later when we were eating. This guy should be promoted.
He even went to get a bag for us when he saw we had food left over and wanted to take it home for later. Great service.
Very clean inside. Lots of food choices. Will go back there regularly if it's always that good and fast and Nice! -

I used to eat at this Boston Market location at least once a week for lunch but I will not return - at least not in the foreseeable future. This location was set apart from this dwindling chain as their food was always fresh, hot, and tasty. Since approximately November of 2005 this restaurant has gone increasingly downhill. The manager used to always be present but l stopped seeing him in the restaurant and expect that this may be the reason for the restaurant's demise. After three successive attempts at lunch were ruined with cold food that seemed to have been left out for hours I have removed this restaurant from my lunch time rotation.

I picked up dinner for the Family on my way home from work. I picked up the" Dinner for 3" and a separate Chicken Pot Pie for the lil' one. The Dinner had 3 options: Chicken/ Meatloaf/ Turkey or for a buck more, you can get Beef Brisket. The dinners include 1 Side and a Cornbread for each person. The price starts at $5.99 and the Pot Pie was $5.00. I chose the Chicken dinner. For the sides, I chose Mac n' Cheese, Creamed Spinach. Mash Potatoes, and Corn. The total was around $28 and there was a lot of food. When I got home, I realized that they forgot the Gravy for the Mash potatoes, and they also forgot the Corn. It was way too late to go back, but I still gave them 4 star rating because everyone seemed friendly. The other reason is because of the Dinner rush when I ordered. The line was literally out the door.

This place gets 3 stars just because the service was so excellent. The guy taking my order was incredibly nice and helpful, as were the rest of the staff handing out the food.
Food was nothing special though. It is what it is. -
