Falafel is as good as it gets in Boston. Pita is made to order in less than ten minutes. The proprietor is authentically gruff; just how I like it. It's a full meal for 8 bucks! I have convinced myself it's pretty healthy too.
When ordering the falafel, specify you want it on a pita!
And now I'm hungry.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Paige C.Tampa, FL349323149May 10, 2013
Give it to me hot.
Oh yeah. I like it like that.
Late night. Filler up.
Starving. Late night Allston. Want some falafel. Oh yeah. Here it is baby.
I've been thinking about this place ever since I left it. This guy filled my pita. And he filled it so good. He filled it like a pita filling master. He is a pita filling demigod. Get it good and hot with whatever and however you want.
I hear they have amazing grilled dark meat chicken. The only place around who cooks it up like that. Oh yeah. Give it to me again and again.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 7Oh no 0 - Jan 26, 2012
Love this place. Reasonably priced, they deliver, and the food taste authentic. I go with the Mixed Grill plate, and everything on it is awesome! The portions are plentiful and I can usually take leftovers to work with me the next day. The estimated delivery time is usually right on, and the delivery people are nice. I've never been to or seen the store, but I would eat there if I was hungry and walked by it.
Go Boston Kabob Go!
Now all they need is some sort of jingle...
"We got your Kafta baby,
Your tabouli honey,
You want some hommus too?
How about a mixed grill dish for two?
We deliver right on time,
Our food is fresh and fine,
It's fairly priced for you,
We have Baba Ghannouj,
and Shishk Barak too!"
Ooops POW surprise!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Ambrose C.Brooklyn, NY1275711655Jun 17, 2013
Are you looking for an excellent sandwich with no meat inside? Are you also looking for a filling meal with some tasty cuts of meats? Well if you are looking for either of those choices, this place is a solid choice in a place like Boston.
Sometimes, for some strange reason, I actually crave for some simple, tasty and filling Middle Eastern style cuisine. I have been here many times to get their Mixed Grill special, which consists of chicken, beef, and kafta kabob, with grilled vegetables, some diced tomatoes and a good portion of rice. Kafta kabob is ground beef mixed with onion that is cooked on a skewer. The meats had a decent freshness, were fairly juicy and tender. Using the hot sauce they provided definitely gives the chicken a better flavor, and mixing the rice also made the meal tastier. The vegetables were fairly fresh, and the tomatoes had a nice cool juiciness. One Mixed Grill plate should be enough for a hearty dinner for a very hungry man.
Another great choice is the Falafel Pita Sandwich. Falafels are these little spheres made from crushed chickpeas that are deep fried. This sandwich consists of a fairly large pita bread stuffed with falafel, fresh vegetables and doused in tahini sauce, which is this sauce made from sesame seeds. After the first bite of that sandwich, I tasted a great crunch, and fresh blend of flavor combined with the nice soft chewiness of the pita bread. It was probably one of the tastiest meatless sandwiches I have eaten. One Falafel Pita Sandwich should be enough to be a hearty lunch for a very hungry man.
Although this place is fairly small, the time it takes to prepare the meals for you is not quick, expect at least a 10 minute wait, even when there's no queue. Prices are fairly moderate, expect to pay about $15 for a Mixed Grill dish, but the Falafel Pita Sandwich should be under $8.
Overall, I think this is probably one of the tastiest places to get some simple and tasty Middle Eastern style cuisine and also the tastiest place to get a vegetarian style sandwich. If they could improve the quickness of the service, this place may be one of the best places to get some good kabob meats and an excellent falafel sandwich.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Jan 20, 2015
I had a chicken pita and it was delicious. Huge portions, filled with fresh ingredients, delicious sauce that tastes homemade and juicy, plump chicken pieces. I got it to go and had no problems.
The restaurant itself was plain, a bit old and not too crowded. A cloth sheet-like divider hung between the front of the house and the kitchen, and it should probably stay there. The peek I had into the kitchen was a little suspicious on the cleanliness front, but hey, the food was good, hot and worth the price, so I can't assume the worst.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Beth B.Brighton, MA012Jul 12, 2014
First: A lot of these reviews say this place takes forever to deliver, but I think they've stepped up their game recently, because it's been delivered in about 30-45 minutes the last two times I've ordered via Foodler. (I'm less than a mile away, but I'm on crutches, so delivery it is.)
If I had to pick a last meal to have on Death Row, it would be falafel, baba ghannouj, harissa, tabbouli and med salad, and like, my weight in freshly cooked pita bread. And if I had to pick a REASON why I'd be sitting on Death Row, it would probably be "became a Hit Woman, under contract that she would be paid in falafel, baba ghanoush, harissa, tabbouli and med salad, and like, her weight in freshly cooked pita bread."
I really like Mediterranean Food.
The Signature Veggie Plate. It's everything I could ever want. The pita has almost a hint of sourdough, and it's so soft and warm-- get extra. The plate only comes with one. It's big, but if you're on a Med Binge, I mean, go all out and get an extra round.
I also tried the Beef Kabob sandwich, and it was awesome. Good steak flavor-- the meat was a bit chewy-- not enough to think, "eh, this is tough," but enough to make eating it in sandwich format logistically-difficult. I'm glad I was eating by myself, because I was still licking juice off of my appendages-- the mess was worth it.
Also, the size/price ratio is awesome on ALL their food.
My SO got the 'Chicken Breast Kabob Plate' with Basmati instead of Pilaf/Fries once, and he hated it. But I didn't get a chance to try it, and I'm prepared to believe he just has terrible taste in food.
I might never get around to trying Garlic 'n Lemons, I just love this place too much. I've never stepped foot in the store, so all these "eh, not so clean," reviews are falling on deaf and uncaring ears. PITAPITAPITAPITA.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - laura W.Memphis, TN283555114Oct 8, 2011
I've never gotten a falafel pita the size of a ipad with the thickness of War and Peace before.... in other words- EFFING HUGE. And inside? Lots of fresh falafel, tomatoes, hummus, cucumbers, tahini and some pickled veggies all inside a homemade pita! For 5.99 you can't really beat it.
My companion got lamb kabob and raved about how delicious the lamb was. Very rare and succulent. $8.99
It's hard to pick a favorite with Azama making similar delicious food just across the way but there is definitely get some more Kabob Co in my future.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Jordy C.Denver, CO66Jul 12, 2011
My review is fairly limited in scope: I have only ordered one item, falafel.
I would only ever order one item, because it is the best falafel I have ever had.
Everything is house made (including the pita or wrap), fresh, and most of all plentiful. The hummus comes free and it's a really generous portion overall. I started going there because they use pita by default instead of wraps, but then one day they ran out, and I was forced into a wrap. Which was possibly even more delicious than the pita, and was huge.
It's a family business, with the owner's son and daughter helping out. Cute kids, very helpful...I really like this place, and I hope more people start going there -- competition in Allston is fierce!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Eliad C.Cambridge, MA1422Jun 6, 2013
This is a not a hidden gem - It is a hidden collection of crown jewels!
This, in my opinion, is the best middle-eastern restaurant in the area (and we are talking about a very wide radius to the next one).
The pita bread and wraps are baked on the spot for your sandwich and the grilled meats are to die for.
You can't go wrong with the kufta kabob wrap or the chicken breast kabob sandwich.
Don't want the carbs from the bread? (Your choice...) - have it on a plate with a salad and some rice - delicious.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Angela S.Medford, MA1133Dec 15, 2013
Overall just ok. And really expensive for what you get.
Fresh food but very lacking in flavor. Chicken was dry. beef was bland. Falafel was salty. Baba ghanouj was made with jalapenos so really oddly spicy and just wrong. Everything else was quite bland for middle eastern food.
Over priced, not enough flavor.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0
