I love this place.  Stayed here a couple of days in the Summer.  They have a barge on the harbor with live music.  You can have drinks outside and listen to the bands or eat dinner also.  The hotel itself is among the finest I've ever stayed in.  When I initially started searching for hotels in Boston I check my two favorites - the Ritz Carlton and the Four Seasons.  The buildings looked unremarkable and were in the wrong part of town (at least for me).  I did not need to be in the center of their business district.

The Boston Harbor Hotel is smack on the water and is an absolutely beautiful property.  The photo's do not do it justice.  The staff were friendly and accommodating.

Can't wait to stay here again.  It's not cheap and worth every penny!

This hotel is beautiful!!!  I love the area and I was very impressed with the rooms.  I was very disappointed with the housekeeping staff, they were very LOUD in the hallways, yelling back and forth to eachother and slamming the doors made it really hard for me to focus on the work I was trying to do in my room.

I did notify the front desk manager a few times...... but the noisy staff never quieted.

This was our third time staying at the boston harbor hotel. It is as good now as it was the first time we were here.  We were there during the Boston Marathon  The staff is very attentive to alll of our needs.  The hotel is clean and  well maintained.  The spa area is outstanding, the pool and jacuzzi are second to none.  The work outroom is large and full of the most up to date equipment.  The locations is good because it's close to the "T", good restaurants, Faneuil Hall, and the harbor.

I recently stayed here while attending a conference at the convention center.   This is a lovely hotel- my room was gorgeous with beautiful city views!  The restaurant was also great for breakfast- fast and yummy- Saturday brunch was also perfect!   The only thing that bothered me about this hotel was that the staff seemed pretentious- especially at the front desk-- I realize this is an upscale hotel- but I still appreciate genuine customer care.

Rooms are quite spacious, have a normal area for bed and bathroom but an additional vanity area as well. I stayed in a harbor view room which was quite nice to wake up to in the morning. I was only there for one night so can't speak too much to the service but what i did experience was fine, nothing special though. Appreciated that they had wifi instead of a cord so i could work from bed. I don't love the old fashioned / antique looking feel so not my favorite decor. Fixtures were modern, curtains looked like cheap versions of the upholstery in the place of versailles. Location is superb, walkable to lots of things. Bed was soft, i sunk a little but it was comfy nonetheless

We had a few meetings at the hotel, used the South Atlantic room and Phillips room. Both were spacious and elegant. Catering was extremely good. They had a big spread for breakfast, fresh fruit, coffee, teas, hot chocolate (yeah this was pretty damn good), pastries, eggs etc. The actual set-up was very decadent, reminded me of having tea in England.

Best hotel, best location. My daughter was married there. Great job. A the father of the bride, they even appointed a guy to help me...his name was Joseph, and he took care of me! Where else's will they press your tuxedo in the middle of the night?

Great rooms for lodging as well as functions. EXTREMELY friendly and helpful staff.

If you want to spend a little extra, this is the place to get your moneys worth.

This is a gorgeous iconic hotel on Boston's waterfront. For the longest time I actually thought it was actually office space. You will pay for the amazing location and views but if you can swing it, it is probably worth it. My company has had our annual meeting here (apprx. 200 people) and they do a fantastic job.

The Boston Harbor Hotel is a bracing antidote to that "all hotels are starting to look the same" feeling I have had lately. It is a fantastic hotel. The location is unbeatable. Its employees are gracious and very competent (great concierges and simply wonderful doormen - the best anywhere). The public areas are extremely gracious and humanly scaled. Even the elevators are really nicely decorated. The entire building was spotless from top to bottom.

I usually like contemporary hotels, but this hotel has taken very traditional decor and elevated it to include every modern comfort one can think of. I particularly liked the bed, one of the most comfortable in any hotel I have experienced, and the four-outlet charging station hidden behind a panel on the front of the top portion of the desk. Very clever. Also, the HDTV actually was HD, and had the full menu of networks most of us now have at home.

The bar is warm and gracious, and the bartenders know how to make a good cocktail.  They also have a very good selection of single malt scotches and a nice wine list by the glass.

The Rowes Wharf Seafood Grill is quite good for dinner, with very fresh oysters and fish.  Breakfasts are good, if overpriced and a bit too much if you are a yogurt and fruit guy like me.

The basement gym needs updated equipment IMO, but is clean and well-staffed.

Love this place. It is awesome.

We stayed at the Boston Harbor Hotel for the two nights surrounding our wedding (which took place there, as well). Our room - a 9th floor Deluxe Harbor View - was spacious, lovely and clean. Its separate sitting area, dressing space/closet and large bathroom made the room feel like a suite and very comfortable for two people preparing for a wedding. The view of the water/court house/airport was quite nice, especially at night with all the lights. The doors were a little thin, and we could sometimes hear people walking down the hall or using the elevator, but it wasn't a disruption for us. The bed and linens were comfortable and the bathroom amenities were nice.

All of the staff at the hotel were extremely professional, and check-in and check-out were both a breeze. Room service was delivered promptly, and was some of the best I've ever experienced in a hotel. The food was hot and well-prepared, and it's brought on an actual table which you can roll to the window and eat at. Everything for the meal was thought-of and provided without needing to ask.

The only gripe I had (and I'm not sure if this was the hotel's fault or American Express's fault) was that they appeared to put a couple of holds on our card for room charges that took an inordinate amount of time (a week and a half) to clear off. It was a little annoying to have a large amount of our credit held during our honeymoon.

Hopefully we'll be returning soon, as it is a nice place to relax and a prime spot in Boston. A little pricey, but worth it for a special occasion.

BHH Summer in the City Series feature concerts, dancing and movies. For free. It seems to me that BHH probably doesn't have to put on these summer series events in order to draw in people. What with the great location, amazing views, awesome patio dining and romantic architecture.

I have been wanting to check out the Movies by Moonlight event for years.  I finally had the opportunity; and I think I'll be back as much as possible this summer.

The location lends itself nicely to the BHH's film choices that include mostly older films, with a mix of romance and intrigue. I recommend getting there early, if you plan to grab one of the free seating spots on the stairs facing the harbor. For an 8:30 sunset we got there at 7:30 and got some of the very last open spots. The BHH provides little foam pads to sit on, making the prospect of sitting on a granite step for a few hours much more bearable. Also, if you're not going to sit at a table and order from the BHH menu, there's a little table set up selling popcorn and movie candy.

I think this would be a fun thing to do with a romantic interest, the setting is perfect for that. But not having one of those isn't going to hold me back from gathering up a few lady friends and heading on down. Maybe we'll  hit up Tia's afterwards, it's right around the corner and we're guaranteed to find a date, as long as we don't hold our standards too high. On second thought, maybe not... Any evening that starts out this way needs to stay classy.

    During the summer

These guys show classic movies, if a party of two agrees to spend $60 dining (they have a contrat you have to fax in in advance...) on the granite harbor terrace, they can view the movies...

The menu is small and decent; if a bit on the bland side.

It gets a little nippy, and sometimes it's a long wait until dusk so come prepared...bring a jacket to wear and to sit on (the steel chairs cool off in the sea breeze and attempt to syphon the warmth out of your body)

Feeling fancy? Coming off a nice yacht and fixing for a plate of fresh oysters? Killing time before a wedding reception starts?

Or, OR... walking around Boston in flip flops with your group, and needing a drink due to the humidity and a nasty blister on someone's foot?

Well then, look no further because here at the Boston Harbor Hotel, you can have a drink on the waterfront and pretend like you're fancy, or about to go on someone's yacht. Then, you can go indoors and feel like an idiot while you search around for the ladies' room while the people in pretty dresses and bow ties just watch.

All in all, a breathtaking hotel that is worth at least one visit. Have your wallets ready.

I really enjoyed my stay at the Boston Harbor Hotel. When I travel for business, I normally have to stay at places that are a little under this price-range.  But, this trip was for pleasure and it was well worth the splurge. I was there for only a couple of nights, but the service was great and they made me feel welcome. The room was beautiful and I enjoyed the antique-style furniture which gave the place more character than a standard hotel. The views are wonderful.  It is a little on the pricey side, but well worth it.  I would certainly go back!

I attended the Tuesday Night Summer Soul event last night (7/5/11)...it was alot of fun!  My friend and I sat at one of the tables (where they do expect you to order something), but you can sit on the side and enjoy this FREE event.

Ray Greene & the Innervisions performed.  I have seen Ray perform many times and he did not disappoint last night.  He was jamming!

I only ordered the fries and a diet pepsi.  Which came out to $9.90.  Other menu items are a bit pricey.  My girlfriend ordered the red sangria and loved it!  as well as the caesar salad

Friendly staff and good vibes all around!

On a return whirlwind trip of New England, I had booked this wonderful hotel. One of the nicest hotels I have ever stayed at!  The harbor views from your room are breath taking.

I had reserved two rooms overlooking the Harbor. That wall, which is huge, is all window. You feel like you are inside and outside at the same time. Concerts play below and cocktail parties display great service and drinks as well as wonderful bites of flavorful food prepared by renowned Chef Daniels. . If you choose not to attend these events, you can still watch from your room and remain anonymous to the eyes of the guests and the noise is totally void.

The hotel is magnificent and it is the only hotel in Boston that has been rated five stars. The rooms are large and clean. The attendants meet you at the front door, dressed in perfectly clean and appropriate uniforms. The front desk is very friendly as well as the concierge service. They freely pass out their expensive ink pens to remind you of your stay and it works!

We were on one city tour of Boston and the driver pointed out the hotel, quoting what one would have to spend to stay there. My daughter, sitting closer to the front of the trolley, just turned around and smiled at us. They still email me as to what is happening in Boston and their hotel.

We did not dine here, sorry to say, I had reserved everything in advance. I was a little disappointed that I had done that.

This, of course, unless you have money to burn, is a splurge, but money well spent. Boston harbor is a gateway to a world of traveler's, including business tycoons who use this hotel to meet, relax and dine.

You're made to feel like a king or queen, the amenities leave nothing to be desired. Treat yourself, you can thank me later.

The "Hahhbah", is really a top flight hotel. I really wasn't trying to stay here, but it was the only hotel with availability. Seriously!  Oh hush.

Anyway, I normally cab it when I come to Boston, I can only imagine what parking here would cost, so VERY happy to not be driving this time out. This hotel is very well maintained and everyone gets the door for you, it's really off-putting in comparison to regular hotels. How can they compare? You guys are spoiling me over here!

They put me on the 10th floor, harbor side and even at night the view is fantastic. Couldn't wait to get up in the morning to see that view. They set me up with a wonderfully appointed king room. This hotel also offers turn down service in the evenings, which is a great touch. Room came with its own DVD player, wish I had known, I would have brought my latest Netflix flick.

This hotel is in the Financial District, so there a ton of restaurant and bar choices within quick walking distance.

Now, the Boston Harbor WILL give your credit card a beat down, so be prepared.....and enjoy!

Recently had the pleasure of staying in this hotel. Had a harborview suite, which had the most killer view of the harbor and environs. The room was immaculate, with every amenity one could desire. The service was excellent  - courteous and prompt.
The pool and spa were both well equipped. A wonderful base from which to enjoy Boston - it's in walking distance to the subway, the North End, and the Aquarium.

This hotel is so boston. I love it! It was my reintroduction to Boston, i lived here as a student and moved out to NY and when i was interviewing with a firm downtown, stayed here for the weekend, and this hotel and the city totally won me over! It is so old fashioned, charming and really soo Boston. We drove from NY and parked here, the service is exceptional from the Valet, to room service. The rooms look over the city and are kinda tiny. I loved their spa area in the hotel downstairs. The gym has a pool and whirlpool.
We also tried breakfast at the resturants downstairs and it was truly divine and oh so yum with all kinds of confectionaires. They helped us out in decding on our dining options in the city and suggested Lucca in the North end which we loved and send us a free towncar for pick up and drop off! Truly, i couldnt have asked for a better reintroduction to Boston!

As for fancy hotels, BH is right up there.  I've been in nicer, but this place, with its historic context and location is quite unique.  The rooms are cozy as you might expect in downtown Boston, but really, if you're visiting a large city, you are only doing one thing in your hotel room -- sleeping of course. ;)

The hotel was one of my first introductions to Boston.  What a great way to begin the adventure of exploring downtown Boston.  My tour guide was great, yet geographically challenged.  Great fun nonetheless.  The room views are amazing; either the city or the harbor.  Not bad either way.

The valet was great.  We were offered (and accepted) a FREE ride to our restaurant in the North end, complete with return service.  AND, if you stay here, make time for working out (or just visiting) their gym facility.  I seriously got lost in the men's locker room.  Could just be me though....

This is an amazing hotel and the best we have ever stayed in on visits to Boston.

We pulled the car up and valet was immediately at our door.  He welcomed us and was amazing friendly. We have not always gotten this greeting from the valets, so this set the tone.

We were greeted as we walked to the front desk, immediately checked in and offered baggage help. We opted to carry our own bags as we had very little for our one night stay.

The room was beautiful.  The windows spanned from top to bottom, and left to right of the area where the bed was.  I worried about light in the morning, but they have high quality, light blocking shades. The sitting/desk area was a perfect place to put my purse and computer.  There was more than enough space for clothes in the drawers.  The bathroom was great.  I would have preferred the new set up that a lot of hotels have, where the toilet is separate from the shower, but that isn't a deal breaker for me. Plenty of toiletries and even a sewing kit, ear swabs and other needed items. There is also a small refrigerator for leftovers, milk for the morning and drinks.  2 complimentary water bottles, as well as a cookie and milk were delivered while we went to dinner.

The view was gorgeous. I watched an amazing sunset from the window and felt engulfed by it.  I was lucky enough to wake up for sunrise and took some pictures that were to die for! My daughter was amazed at how far over the ocean she could see, and sat to watch the boats.  She also watched a wedding and didn't move from her spot till it was over.

The location could not be better. It is literally a block from the aquarium, with a 7/11 nearby for any last minute needs.  It is a nice stroll down the street, or you can take the stroll by the water which is slightly longer but wonderfully scenic.

Some good tips: Walk down the areas of grass and see the vendors in the area. even if you look, it is a nice walk.  There is an outdoor fountain area for the kids one block down to run through, totally free.  You can walk another 30 seconds and they can go on a merry go round for $2. You are very close to Quincy market and Fanuel hall. I am not someone who enjoys walking with my back, and these areas I did not mind walking too!

We did decide to eat breakfast in the hotel, and although the food was good, the price tag of the buffet was expensive. I should have gone with my gut and walked across the street to Panera.

I completely recommend this hotel.  The staff went above and beyond, the rooms were wonderful, the location can't get better and we were completely satisfied.

We stayed here on our wedding night in a room overlooking the water. Before I say anything else, this place has the SOFTEST bed I have ever slept in. It was pillowtop everything pillowy soft heaven. This is a really nice hotel, the main lobby not anything to write home about, just luxury standard, nice, but not very dramatic. Anyways I'd rather stay somewhere where the rooms are superior if the lobby gives, which is what this hotel is about. Anyways, when we entered the room, a tray of chocolate covered strawberries and chilled sparkling cider was awaiting our arrival. We don't drink alcohol and we loved the fact that the hotel remembered this small but important detail.

I ordered room service and in 30 minutes I had a cheeseburger and fries delivered to the room. The food was great and they gave us more fries than the both of us could eat.

Still an awesome view at night. In the morning we spent most of the time looking out the window at the boats in the harbor and the planes leaving and coming into Logan airport.

The room was gorgeous, albiet in its colonial style, and is in excellent condition. We looked into the Four Seasons and the rooms didn't look quite as good. This is a first rate hotel, and was just perfect for our wedding night.

Can't comment on the rooms... but went there recently for the Movies under Moonlight series they have in the summer. These are events in the patio where people watch a movie (usually older movies from the 1950s and 1960s) outdoors.

The bar, the restaurant, lobby and patio are world-class. It's too bad that so many people come for the Movies Under Moonlight... so you have to show up around 5 PM to have a real shot of getting a table, and drink alcoholic beverages outdoors while enjoying the film. All in all couldn't recommend it more.

    Tooootally overrated!!

Maybe they treat conference guests different than others but I didn't have a fantastic experience here- contrary to most reviewers. My husband and I got in late Tuesday night for a stay through Saturday. First impression was a total wow. Everyone was really nice. We didn't get the waterfront view- but the view of the city was nice. The room looked really nice-very colonial- beds turned down when we got in the room. It wasn't until daylight though that I started noticing the "scratches and dents" so to speak.

First, the bathroom was not great. The shower was horrible. There was barely any water pressure. The toilet made a weird beeping sound- intermittently. I couldn't tell what exactly would set it off but every so often it would just start chirping. Our room was very small so you could barely open the door without hitting the corner the closet was built into. Room service could barely get a cart through. I practically walked into it several times coming into the room. The last really terrible part about the place is the walls are PAPER thin!!!! I could hear everything and we were right next to the elevator so that's all I could ever hear- especially in the morning. It was sooooo annoying- especially when I wanted to sleep in late on Saturday. Oh also- there was construction or something going on and without warning when I walked out the back door I got sprayed over my head by the guy washing windows. Not cool.

The "service" and employees are great but you sure do pay for it. It's like my husband says- the price of the hotel is really just for the service. It wasn't a spectacular facility. It felt very old. Everyone was nice up until check out. Once I got home I realized there was an extra breakfast charge on our room. The guy I spoke with on the phone at the front desk was very terse and treated me like a peasant. Never going back!

We did the Mother's Day Brunch today. Everything was so delicious - we went late and got a beautiful window seat in the corner. The food was amazing. It is very pricey. Expect to pay about $100 a person. Getting mimosas is about $16 a glass so I would say get champagne ($10/glass) and mix with the free OJ... Or splurge - whatever you want... if you're going here I'm sure you can afford to drop $400 on 3 people for a lavish breakfast.

I've stayed in much better hotels for less money. Insufficient electrical outlets for this day and age, and most were inaccessible (there was a multiple outlet inside of the desk, but was inoperable. I did get a strip after complaining. I didn't find the concierges very knowledgable and was given misinformation at least once.  The rooms were not very large when compared to other four star hotels I've stayed at (although well decorated).

So here I am reviewing a hotel when I have never stepped foot in any of the rooms, nor have I explored more than half the lobby area.  Then what could I possibly have to review?  The summer movie series, of course!  It is the perfect way to spend a summer evening in Boston.  Literally any of the movies in the lineup for any summer would be a fantastic experience.  I have been wanting to do this ever since I moved to Boston, and after seeing The Maltese Falcon last weekend, it was definitely worth it!

It was tough for me to find some details and words of wisdom for this type of evening activity, so here are some tips for first-timers.
-You do need to arrive early, but not as early as some people have said.  We got there around 7:15 and were still able to score a table for two on the patio.  Granted, it was all the way on the side, but we were that much closer to the water and the movie screen.  For anyone who came later, they must have been in the know because the outer perimeter of the patio was lined with people kicked back in lawn chairs.
-The food is overpriced and just ok.  But you are there for the experience!  If you don't want to spend a lot of money, but need to eat, order the guacamole.  The portion is big, the chips are thick, and it will fill you up.  I was so full, I didn't even get to try the popcorn that is served from a little cart in the archway, and that is actually what I was looking forward to the most.
-Service is slow, but everyone is friendly and happy.  It seems like the servers literally have no incentive to check in on you, refill your glass, ask if you want more of anything, or even make eye contact.  They know that once you are seated, you are in for the long haul.
-And speaking of the long haul, it isn't that long.  The movie starts at sunset, which means showtime will vary.  We were told our movie would start around 8, but it didn't get going until 8:30.  All of their movies seem to wrap up under 2 hours.
-If you need to use the restroom afterward, you better be quick.  There are just a few stalls and the line wraps through the lobby once the movie finishes.
-This is one of the best things to do in the summer in Boston!  While you're in the neighborhood, walk along the water, check out the Greenway and the kids playing in the fountains, have drinks in the North End, and simply appreciate how amazing it is to see the city transform for the warm weather.

I'm a local and we booked the Romance Package for New Years.  We had a great room overlooking the harbor and could see the fireworks from our room.  The room was well appointed but it is the service that sets this hotel apart.  I love being addressed as "Mrs....."  Everyone from the front desk to bell staff to food service was wonderful.  We had dinner at the Grille and it was delicious.  The service was by far, outstanding.  We did the whole champagne in your room thing which was nice but when we received a bonus fruit tray, now that was really nice.  The most impressive of all was that I had to call down to get some aspirin the next morning and the bell man quickly brought it up with a smile and concern and they didn't charge me an arm and a leg for it.  I would highly recommend staying here.

This place is absolutly  amazing! After attending a good friends wedding here early this month, I want to tell the world that I too want to get married here as well.  ALL of their staff was truely top notch!!!! Food was awesome-to die for.  Double twin lobster tail with champigon butter drizzle...can we say more?!  Fresh - flavorful - creative!  The view on the water is also breath taking.  This place is just an absolute dream.  To brides out there..this is the place to be!

If you have a chance this is the place to stay.  A short walk to the subway, the north end, the aquarium, well... it's Boston.  It's a short walk to everything.

Didn't stay there but attended the outdoor concert on a Tuesday where they had a cover band playing R&B, funk, and even a little salsa.  If you get the chance you can get front row seating around the wharf while the band plays on a floating barge.  You have to order drinks and/or food, but if you rather not you can sit along the steps, and they provide small cushions to sit on.  There was even a floating dance floor in front the barge that they allowed people to go on to during the last hour set.  The view is great with the gazebo in the background, planes flying above, and boats in the harbor.  All-in-all an entertaining way to spend the evening and you don't have to pay a cover or admission.

Location is very convenient to all the touristy spots downtown and the T subway system. You have access to the Harbor Walk and the Kennedy Greenway, which were both completed in 2010. The water taxi service from the airport pulls right up to the dock behind the hotel. It's pricey but you get what you pay for. Did not go to the spa or pool, but there were always 5 doormen anxious to help with anything. Ate at the bar one night, interesting combination of old school feel with young people enhancements (friendly employees, HD TV viewable from most of the room, etc.). The atrium is stunning and an easy landmark. Where else are you going to see the yacht of the owner of the Red Sox parked out back?

I have not stayed at this hotel, but I recently had a work lunch there and it was beautiful, Unbelievable views, comfortable dining room with vibrant colors, comfy couches and a great menu. They have a lot of outdoor performances during the summer as well. This place is run extremely well.
