We stayed here on our wedding night in a room overlooking the water. Before I say anything else, this place has the SOFTEST bed I have ever slept in. It was pillowtop everything pillowy soft heaven. This is a really nice hotel, the main lobby not anything to write home about, just luxury standard, nice, but not very dramatic. Anyways I'd rather stay somewhere where the rooms are superior if the lobby gives, which is what this hotel is about. Anyways, when we entered the room, a tray of chocolate covered strawberries and chilled sparkling cider was awaiting our arrival. We don't drink alcohol and we loved the fact that the hotel remembered this small but important detail.
I ordered room service and in 30 minutes I had a cheeseburger and fries delivered to the room. The food was great and they gave us more fries than the both of us could eat.
Still an awesome view at night. In the morning we spent most of the time looking out the window at the boats in the harbor and the planes leaving and coming into Logan airport.
The room was gorgeous, albiet in its colonial style, and is in excellent condition. We looked into the Four Seasons and the rooms didn't look quite as good. This is a first rate hotel, and was just perfect for our wedding night.

I went to school in Boston and frequently travel there on business, as I did a week ago. I booked a room using http://www.getaroom.com and was glad I did. It's far from the cheapest hotel I've stayed in, but I felt my cozy room, the service and the hotel amenities (bar, patio, business center) were all top-notch. I usually schedule business meetings off site, but I enjoyed this property so much that I held it on the premises.
The "Hahhbah", is really a top flight hotel. I really wasn't trying to stay here, but it was the only hotel with availability. Seriously! Oh hush.
Anyway, I normally cab it when I come to Boston, I can only imagine what parking here would cost, so VERY happy to not be driving this time out. This hotel is very well maintained and everyone gets the door for you, it's really off-putting in comparison to regular hotels. How can they compare? You guys are spoiling me over here!
They put me on the 10th floor, harbor side and even at night the view is fantastic. Couldn't wait to get up in the morning to see that view. They set me up with a wonderfully appointed king room. This hotel also offers turn down service in the evenings, which is a great touch. Room came with its own DVD player, wish I had known, I would have brought my latest Netflix flick.
This hotel is in the Financial District, so there a ton of restaurant and bar choices within quick walking distance.
Now, the Boston Harbor WILL give your credit card a beat down, so be prepared.....and enjoy!

On a return whirlwind trip of New England, I had booked this wonderful hotel. One of the nicest hotels I have ever stayed at! The harbor views from your room are breath taking.
I had reserved two rooms overlooking the Harbor. That wall, which is huge, is all window. You feel like you are inside and outside at the same time. Concerts play below and cocktail parties display great service and drinks as well as wonderful bites of flavorful food prepared by renowned Chef Daniels. . If you choose not to attend these events, you can still watch from your room and remain anonymous to the eyes of the guests and the noise is totally void.
The hotel is magnificent and it is the only hotel in Boston that has been rated five stars. The rooms are large and clean. The attendants meet you at the front door, dressed in perfectly clean and appropriate uniforms. The front desk is very friendly as well as the concierge service. They freely pass out their expensive ink pens to remind you of your stay and it works!
We were on one city tour of Boston and the driver pointed out the hotel, quoting what one would have to spend to stay there. My daughter, sitting closer to the front of the trolley, just turned around and smiled at us. They still email me as to what is happening in Boston and their hotel.
We did not dine here, sorry to say, I had reserved everything in advance. I was a little disappointed that I had done that.
This, of course, unless you have money to burn, is a splurge, but money well spent. Boston harbor is a gateway to a world of traveler's, including business tycoons who use this hotel to meet, relax and dine.
You're made to feel like a king or queen, the amenities leave nothing to be desired. Treat yourself, you can thank me later.

Recently had the pleasure of staying in this hotel. Had a harborview suite, which had the most killer view of the harbor and environs. The room was immaculate, with every amenity one could desire. The service was excellent - courteous and prompt.
The pool and spa were both well equipped. A wonderful base from which to enjoy Boston - it's in walking distance to the subway, the North End, and the Aquarium.

This hotel is so boston. I love it! It was my reintroduction to Boston, i lived here as a student and moved out to NY and when i was interviewing with a firm downtown, stayed here for the weekend, and this hotel and the city totally won me over! It is so old fashioned, charming and really soo Boston. We drove from NY and parked here, the service is exceptional from the Valet, to room service. The rooms look over the city and are kinda tiny. I loved their spa area in the hotel downstairs. The gym has a pool and whirlpool.
We also tried breakfast at the resturants downstairs and it was truly divine and oh so yum with all kinds of confectionaires. They helped us out in decding on our dining options in the city and suggested Lucca in the North end which we loved and send us a free towncar for pick up and drop off! Truly, i couldnt have asked for a better reintroduction to Boston!

As for fancy hotels, BH is right up there. I've been in nicer, but this place, with its historic context and location is quite unique. The rooms are cozy as you might expect in downtown Boston, but really, if you're visiting a large city, you are only doing one thing in your hotel room -- sleeping of course. ;)
The hotel was one of my first introductions to Boston. What a great way to begin the adventure of exploring downtown Boston. My tour guide was great, yet geographically challenged. Great fun nonetheless. The room views are amazing; either the city or the harbor. Not bad either way.
The valet was great. We were offered (and accepted) a FREE ride to our restaurant in the North end, complete with return service. AND, if you stay here, make time for working out (or just visiting) their gym facility. I seriously got lost in the men's locker room. Could just be me though....

I've had the opportunity to stay at BHH on a few recent occasions and have found it to be a pleasant experience. It's more in the vein of over-decorated than the sparse minimalism that is so pervasive in high-end hotels. Though at times the decoration can make it feel old and a tad stuffy...a refuge for the 50+. That is certainly not a criticism, just something to be aware of when comparing it to your other options. It is similar to the Langham-starkly contrasted with the contemporary Mandarin and Liberty. The spa offers the services one would expect from a five star hotel though, being located at the basement level, it lacks natural light and can feel a bit like a dungeon. Make it a point to have diner at Meritage. The dining is unbeatable in Boston and their wine list is admirable. The staff are professional, the concierge service knowledgeable and the overall service is tremendous. The only downside is the location away from the hub of downtown. This is remedied by their car service. I prefer to walk when visiting cities and it can be a long cold trek to and from Boston's sights in the icy New England winters.
Can't comment on the rooms... but went there recently for the Movies under Moonlight series they have in the summer. These are events in the patio where people watch a movie (usually older movies from the 1950s and 1960s) outdoors.
The bar, the restaurant, lobby and patio are world-class. It's too bad that so many people come for the Movies Under Moonlight... so you have to show up around 5 PM to have a real shot of getting a table, and drink alcoholic beverages outdoors while enjoying the film. All in all couldn't recommend it more.

Didn't stay there but attended the outdoor concert on a Tuesday where they had a cover band playing R&B, funk, and even a little salsa. If you get the chance you can get front row seating around the wharf while the band plays on a floating barge. You have to order drinks and/or food, but if you rather not you can sit along the steps, and they provide small cushions to sit on. There was even a floating dance floor in front the barge that they allowed people to go on to during the last hour set. The view is great with the gazebo in the background, planes flying above, and boats in the harbor. All-in-all an entertaining way to spend the evening and you don't have to pay a cover or admission.

If you have a chance this is the place to stay. A short walk to the subway, the north end, the aquarium, well... it's Boston. It's a short walk to everything.

I have not stayed at this hotel, but I recently had a work lunch there and it was beautiful, Unbelievable views, comfortable dining room with vibrant colors, comfy couches and a great menu. They have a lot of outdoor performances during the summer as well. This place is run extremely well.
