Best part of our time in Boston was spent on a two hour tour with Mike. We purchased a Groupon and were totally satisfied. Very accommodating staff once we found the place; staff rescheduled us (in person) without a problem. We had been put on indefinite hold by phone which was a drag. Kinda tricky to find the location for a visitor (GPS was totally baffled). But all in all a wonderful experience.

This was one of the best experiences I had on my recent New England vacation. My GF and I had purchased GoBoston cards which gave us a free one hour tour.
There were a number of 'great service' moments and I wanted to make sure I Yelped how great it was.
1) We underestimated the amount of traffic we were going to run into, so my GF and I were almost a half hour late to our reserved tour time. We were given no hassle, and were re-scheduled with a smile.
2) We were given a lesson on how to use the Segways from a gentleman who's name I didn't catch. He was very helpful and encouraging. In fact, we saw him out and about in town later that afternoon. He stopped to say hi, talk to us, and give us directions.
3) Our tour guide asked us to call him Captain Ahab and he was superb. He was knowledgeable, friendly, and patient. He had the right sense of humor for the situation and willingly answered even our dumbest questions. You could tell he loved his job.
4) Our tour guide also took the extra step of taking pictures of us using our own camera. The company charges for a disc of photos taken by the tour guide, since, as new Segway riders, we weren't allowed to take pictures while gliding. He offered to take pictures for us, getting some great shots and saving us some money.
A lot of people may be like me and say, 'I will look silly. It wont be fun. How am I going to learn anything?' I am here to tell you to dismiss those thoughts and book your tour today. It was exceptional. -

Was on a quick trip to Boston... staying in Cambridge, that crazy weekend that Bin Laden got taken out (so yeah, the Boston Common party was RIGHT there... but I digress)
So, while my pal was in some school triathalon, I took the train into the city to check out the sights...
RECOMMENDATION - get a Boston GO Card, so you can check out a bunch of different things all over the city, like the Aquarium, Museums, Harbor Tours, Whale Watching... and so much more... the 3-Day card gets you a 3 Day Trolley Tour and a MAJOR fun activity like a Duck Tour, Lunch Cruise, or...
THIS Segway Harbor Tour!
Awesome fun and a great way to see the whole North Pier area... takes 10 minutes to get used to how to control one, and it's SO fun.
You are like 2' taller than everyone else, and zip by at 5mph and can turn on a dime (okay frisbee)!
P.S. The staff are Super Nice as well - even though they do talk with a funny accent... it's like the South Side sprinkled with a little Jersey Shore. -

So much fun ! and a really great way to see the city - a lot of the city. We did the 2-hour tour - started in the North End, go to Bunker Hill/Constitution, then up Beacon Hill, around the Common, through Downtown Crossing to South Station, along the Harbor, back to the North End.
The staff gives you a great overview of how to ride the Segway (note: subtle movements are most effective). They show you a video before you get started but the noises from the garage were so loud none of us could understand it anyway...
Our guide was very safety conscious, minding the cross signals and traffic as we crossed streets.
highly recommend ! -

Simply Awesome! My girlfriend and I decided to shoot up to Boston/Marblehead over St. Patty's day weekend on a Delta free Companion Fare to see my good friend and old roommate. We'd booked this Segway Tour for the three of us - on a three hour tour (HEY.... cut the Gilligan stuff out right now!).
The tour was amazing - what a wonderful way to see Boston on a limited time schedule!! While it was a bit cold in late March to ride in Boston on a Segway - it was still very manageable and totally fun. Our guide was a lot of fun - really corny albeit. Ultimately he was very knowledgeable and fun to take the tour with.
Getting a hang of the Segway was weird at first. Totally a strange feeling - I assure you that you've never felt anything like it. A smart and amazing machine that intuits your intentions by sensing your forward and backward movement as it relates to being off your center of balance. You can actually stand on the Segway without holding on, either moving slowly forward or backward or just staying upright.... if you you can manage the balance. I recommend holding on however for a more stable and safe experience (no, I didn't fall on the tour). After 2 minutes of training - I was ready to ride. We started off a little slow - but immediately were challenged by a down ramp.
So - we start the tour and head out into the city. What history - what amazing architecture. Humbling to be in the nerve center of our country's revolution. Since we had a three hour tour (they offer 1, 2 and 3 hour tours), we were able to see a lot. He took us all over Boston. We saw just about as much as one could possibly see in three hours and soaked up as much history as we could along the way.
I have to take a second to mention how, after getting comfortable with the Segway (about 20 minutes), I really started to enjoy this thing. The way it moves, the freedom you have - the zero degree turns - being able to climb up and down ramps at any just about any speed while still remaining upright and feeling stable. Just amazing.
I highly recommend doing this tour. Yes, it's a little pricey at $125 / person for a three hour tour... but wow - it's an experience I'll never forget and it certainly was worth it to all three of us. We paid the extra $20 for the pictures the guide took along the way - since being a first time Segway rider in a big, busy and chilly city like Boston makes it nearly impossible to get your own pictures. I brought my camera and snapped maybe two pictures - but honestly it wasn't worth it. Just concentrate on the experience!
Again - HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. CHECK THIS EXPERIENCE OF A LIFETIME OUT! :) -

Very fun way to see the city! The Segway was super easy to get the hang of and it is neat how far you can go!
The only downside of the tour is that it wasn't as much of a "tour" as I thought it was going to be. Granted it was only the one hour tour but it was more riding around the harbor without seeing many of the sights. But there are other tours for that I'm sure!
It rained the entire tour but we had ponchos and I still thought it was a blast! -

Segway ride was super fun but our guide could have left me to die w/out knowing it. If you are a first timer, make sure you get enough practice (know how to work your ride) before heading out. There will be many steep hills and your guide may take you through the wrong way couple of times. Segway is awesome way to cruise the city but not the best for an informative tour.

This is an experience more about the Segway than a tour of Boston. They are fun to ride but I don't think Boston is the best place to ride them on if you are not young and flexible. You have to lean a lot, that is how you navigate. They do make you wear helmats but my friend did fall off and received a concussion. And I have seen my chiropractor three times (and hopefully the last time next week.) In case you are wondering we are both over 40.
If you are doing the Groupon route you have to book through the phone, for no really clear reason, and as others have mentioned, the treatment is a little rude. (Over-selling the Groupon is a poor excuse.)
If you want to ride a Segway, do it. If you want to tour Boston, you have better venues. -

I guess I'll start with my frustrations first: the 10-minute "safety video" is at least half infomercial for the after-tour swag you can buy and our tour was in pouring rain -- not a light mist, not on again/off again but driving/pouring rain. Because of the rain and because I wear glasses (which kept getting covered in rain and/or fog) it was hard to enjoy the tour to the fullest extent and I felt a little unsafe with my lack of visibility. The audio bud kept falling out of my ear and often I couldn't hear our tour guide, even when the ear bud was in -- they would do well to mount the audio monobud on the helmet to avoid this frustration. Last, the tour was *very* light on history/information. As a local non-tour-guide resident, I could have given a more thorough informational tour.
Now, the upside: our tour guide was very friendly. Without him, I would have felt *totally* unsafe in the rain. He was a very calm, soothing presence. The stops that the tour incorporates for chances to walk around and explore *would* be great on a day when it is not raining (Bunker Hill monument, Navy Yard and Faneuil Hall). The route was very segway-friendly, at many points we were segway'ing on mostly deserted streets without being confined to the sidewalk. They are located in the North End so that made eating afterwards ideal.
I can't really fault them for the weather but I think when it rains *that* badly/heavily (say x number of inches per hour) it would be nice if they offered a discount to come back on a sunnier day for a tour or rental to ease the frustration of not having gotten the full extent of the tour. -
Review from Vim I.
I've been on segway tours before in DC, but this tour took it to another level. Boston is much more challenging because of the narrow, steep roads in some parts of town--but it's totally worth it. I convinced my family to go on this tour and even my parents who are in their late 50s enjoyed it immensely even though they were a tad nervous at first. Our tour guide, Captain E, was a blast. He had great information about the city and had a great sense of humor--really connected with my family and made them feel at ease. It's so much more fun and exciting to do this type of tour versus a duck tour or a walking tour. You'll get plenty of funny looks from people on the street, but you're having too much fun to care. One major plus is that your tour guide is also photographs your excursion so you don't have to worry about it--and the pictures turned out great.

I've always thought segways look silly, but after riding one, I'm totally a fan. They're so much fun and I recommend it to everyone.
The place was well organized and the staff was very nice. Segways were in great condition and we got a lot of laughs, which they called the "Segway smile" lol. Our tour was along the waterfront...not very historical like we might've wanted, but still beautiful. I think we spent most of our time enjoying the segways. The information on our tour was pretty basic, just pointing things out on the left and on the right. Our tour guide go great pictures and videos of our silly endeavors. I'd love to do it again. -

Great experience. Like others, I now desperately want my own Segway...it's way cooler than it looks, and I always thought it looked cool.
My girlfriend and I did the Boston waterfront tour. She got the tickets through a sweet limited time "Groupon" deal.
I thought the experience was going to be all about the fun of riding a Segway, after living in Boston for 6 years you start to think you've seen it all...However our tour guide was truly awesome, we learned a lot of interesting new stuff. He put his own little spin on a Boston tour, different from the duck tours and harbor cruise, etc. His name was Doug and you should request him.
Have fun! -

This was AWESOME. I did the Cambridge tour with my mom and my sister and we all LOVED it. The people working were very nice and laid back. Our guide was extremely helpful and made me feel at ease even though I was a little nervous about riding the Segway around the practice room.
Riding around Harvard Square was the best part. Everyone loves you when you're on a Segway. I really want to do a tour of another city soon. -

I have been here twice. To be honest the first experience wasn't that great. It was ok, but our tour guide (can't remember his name) just didn't seem like he wanted to be there. I asked him some basic questions about boston and he didn't know. He wasn't unfriendly or rude, just seemed like he had other things on his mind. It was still fun though.
We recently came back since a friend came into a town with a groupon. It was much much better. We had Brian as a tour guide and he was great. Personable and talkative. Since we had already been on the 1 hour route before, he audibled and took us around Charlestown which was great.
It was a great time overall and the segways were a lot of fun. -

Our family had an amazing time on our two hour tour and really wish we took the three hour. Boston can be extremely busy and even hazardous on weekends. The tour avoided some common tourist stops but did include Charlestown the north end and the waterfront.
Two of us had done this before in other cities, one had been to Boston many times but never in a segway and her BF had never been to Boston. He got to see so much more of the city than he would have on foot. The segway is a total blast. The weather was beautiful and it couldn't have been more fun. -

So fun! I went on a tour with 3 other people (husband and two friends) after we purchased a Groupon. We went on a weekday evening and had our own tour guide who went by the name Captain Bob. He was hilarious and gave us a ton of interesting new information about the city.
You start off with a brief "training" that consists of watching a safety video, then learning the basics of how to control the Segway before taking off on your tour. It does take some getting used to in order to control, but we all caught on quickly.
It was a great new way to see Boston. If you think you've seen the city a million times, you haven't seen it on a Segway! -

Six friends got together to celebrate a 67th birthday. We'd been talking about doing a SEGWAY tour for ages but today was finally the day. We went for a 2 hour tour of our hometown, Boston, and even rode by one of our homes which just hapened to be close by the standard route. How exciting could it possibly be to tour your own neighborhood with a high school senior leading our little parade? OMG!! We are all still giggling! We had a ball! Our Boston Gliders Segway Adventure was so much fun, I'm not sure I could ever really describe just what a good time we had except to day that my face still hurts from the wide grin that I had for the full two hours. Jerrill, our "fearless leader", was an outstanding teacher and a very informative guide. He was able to manage our childish antics while letting us safely enjoy our new grown up toys.

An amazing adventure, I only wish I would have done the two hour tour instead!!
After living here in Boston for almost two years, we decided to play "tourists" when a couple of friends came to visit. The segway tour seemed to fit the bill for both adventure and fun. Our guide, Martin, was great and very accommodating as we gradually felt more comfortable on the segway. I must admit, the first 10-15 minutes of the tour I was so focused on not falling but by the end of the tour, I was driving with one hand and shooting pictures with the other.
Wether you're new to the city, just visiting, or a long time resident...you'll find the segway adventure a great time! -

Very fun, my 1st time on a segway was in Queenstown Australia, I loved every minute of it, fell once but got up and i go again....Its kind of pricey but after you have done one of thier tours, you will want to go again! -

This absolutely has to be the best way to tour any city! After doing tours in San Antonio and Baltimore, I have now added 'do segway tours in as many cities as possible' to my bucket list! We did the two hour tour which covered most of the best landmarks in Boston! Can't wait to hit another city and tour again!

Take your kids! I took my kids (ages 48 and 41) and for an hour on Tuesday I was totally into it, and I didn't care that the swell lad who was leading the tour didn't know that it was the Brits, (not the French) who burned Charlestown - who cares? All I wanted to do was ride that Segway into the sunset. i agree with Melissa that the friendly helpful people and the lack of formality made it especially enjoyable. As you fans know, I am Very Old. My balance is not terrific and I scare easily, so a minder named Alex never left my side. I would say I laughed my ass off, but I just looked behind me, and unfortunately, it is still there.

I NEED A SEGWAY!!!!! I NEVER WANT TO WALK AGAIN!!!! I know I've said that Duck Tours are pretty okay, and they are, but you get to ride ZERO segways on a Duck Tour. When my folks visited, I thought we would do some kind of tour. I thought the Duck Tour would be fun or getting a man in pantaloons and a three-corner hat to walk us around the park would be fun, but then I saw that Boston Gliders also has tours (which they call "Adventures"). I thought it looked a little expensive, but it's absolutely worth the price. You can take an adventure, or just rent some segways. They were pretty casual to deal with. They didn't make us sign a ton of paperwork (a little paperwork, but no contract that is so long that you would rather not rent one than read through it) and they were flexible on the timing issue. I would call first because there are two offices and one might be out of segways. We had to watch a 12 minute video where you learn all the ways a stickman can fall over and bust his head open, then they take time to make sure you feel comfortable using it. Someone went with us for a few minutes to make sure we were okay and then we were free to go.
They were super easy to use. My mom was flying past everyone after just a few minutes. Returning the segways was easy. We just dropped them off and the people working there were friendly and helpful.
They never tried to sell us any segways, but when we inquired about doing so, they told us their prices and offered to sell a couple.
Segways are officially on my wishlist.
These things were a ton of fun; definitely take your visitors around Boston via segway.
P.S. I'm pretty sure the address is 36 Warren St. -

Boston gliders are AWESOME! Words can't describe how much fun this tour is! Martin was our tour leader and he is great! The segways are super fun and easy to use! Even after a 12 min video with a crazy stick figure with a horrible Boston accent and just 3 minutes of training you are ready to roll!! We were a loud silly group that did not stop laughing and smiling the whole time and Martin defiantly adapted the trip to our crazy style!! He was happy to take tons of pictures of us for our disc at the end! You go all over the waterfront and through the city! You have time at several of the stops to race around the open spaces and practice your quick turns! It is a blast like you have never known! If you are from here or just visiting Boston it's totally worth the $$!!

The Segway tour part was great; however this office staff needs a lesson on customer service.
We walked in and were not greeted and waited a solid 5 minutes before the rude girl said hi. We then checked in and stood there for another 10 minutes with no direction or instruction. We were handed a clipboard to fill out with no verbal communication. My friend had to ask multiple times for the restroom location and then was misdirected to the location twice.
after waiting another 5 minutes we were instructed to go downstairs....to do what, we were not told. At the bottom of the stairs another girl pointed to the side. I asked are we supposed to sit down and was told in a snotty voice yes. Watched safety video and told to go upstairs where we then were directed to training.
At training we stood around for 15 minutes watching others train. Then were put on a Segway and taken up the block and down another.
another 10 minutes and then finally found a tour guide to take us out as all the other tours left already as we were left standing around for so long by ourselves. All in all it was 45 minutes after we arrived that we finally set out on the tour. Our tour guide was great, not a whole lot of historical facts, but we got around the city.
Returning to the office we stood around another 5-10 minutes and then were told we were all set
Riding a Segway was fun, but there are better ways to see Boston and certainly more professional and polite staff on other tourist venues. -

What an awesome adventure! We did a one hour tour. They take you all along Boston's waterfront. The segways are so much fun. They train you well enough before taking you out so you are comfortable once you're ready for the adventure. I don't think I stopped smiling once the entire hour!! Martin our tour guide made this a great experience. Highly recommend trying this adventure whether you're visiting Boston or if your a lifelong MA resident!!

Very fun time. Training takes maybe 5 minutes, though I felt comfortable after about a minute. The tour was fun, the guide knowledgeable enough, and it's just a fun thing to do.
Also, while I'm from this area, some of our tour-group was from out of town and said they'd taken Segway tours of DC and Boston (last year, thru Chinatown and The Common), and that our 1-hour waterfront tour was the best they'd been on. -

Our tour was so much fun. It's really easy to ride a Segway, just takes a couple minutes of practice before you get the hang of it. You're going to love riding a Segway. The tour was cool, too. We rode all the way down the wharfs of Boston Harbor, starting around Columbus Park, and ending near South Station. Then we cruised through the Greenway on the way back, and then we zipped through the narrow alleys of the North End. Such a great way to see the city - I highly recommend this company and I'm very excited to have my Certified Segway Rider card now. This means that I can rent their Segways without having to go on a tour, and it's cheaper.

The tour itself and our guide "Andy" were great. The reservation staff and the manager were rude and obnoxious. When we made our reservation we were never asked about the age of the group. We were forced to split into two groups so the 3 older adults went together and the four late teens were going to go after us. After we all stood together in the lobby and filled out the paperwork (in full view of the staff) and after the older adults had left, the remaining four were told they couldn't go. They were also refused a refund. When the older adults came back and asked to speak to the manager, he was rude and dismissive. I checked the web site and no where on the site does it tell you that you have to be over 21 if your parent isn't there. Their competitor clearly states this on their site. Although I loved our guide I would never give them another dime. They should clearly state the rules not only on their web site but when you call and make the reservation and if they don't then it's their responsibility to give a refund. Don't just try and steal peoples money for something that is not cheap. They preached liability, but the bottom line was that they didn't want four teenagers going out by themselves. They had the opportunity to split us up into different groups when we all stood in the lobby filling out the paperwork and didn't.
