This place is in desperate need of a dusting and a fresh coat of paint. It blows my mind that so few updates have been made in the past 10 years. The managers/owners should sign up for a business 101 class, or simply read a few of the reviews of their establishment for some logical "quick tips" on how to ensure that your restaurant with awesome food will not fail due to your laziness and general lack of caring for a sub shop that has been a local staple for ages. It infuriates me that Boston Garden could eventually close its doors--not because it isn't a phenomenal place to grab a meal, but because no one employed there wants to put in any extra time to make the place shine.
Phew, that being said, I have been eating here since before I can remember and have tried almost everything on the menu. Soups are made from scratch as are some of the salad dressings. The pasta salad is to die for and you will not find a better hoagie in all of the twin cities. Their pizza is hand-tossed and one of my favs. I love the seasoned fries, too. Oh, and they have rootbeer on tap!
I try to make it in for meal every time I am in town, although due to the dusty decor and sea green walls I tend to get take-out more than I dine-in. -

American and Velveeta "cheeses" by Kraft are my nemeses. One of them had definitely beset my omelet.
I find it fundamentally inhumane to feed another fellow human Velveeta. It was invented in 1918 when a Kraft employee accidentally created a "velvety cheese material" while trying to figure out what to do with the whey waste product from the making of real cheese, and since the Geneva Convention banning mustard gas wasn't until 1925, it is an injustice that Velveeta wasn't also included.
Why would a restaurant use it when there are plenty of very cheap cheddar cheeses out there, that while not my favorite, at least don't render your food velvety. -

Not been to Hopkins much. Not familiar really with options there. My friend planned a date-night out with our boys to go see The Muppet Movie. We needed to dine before so I let her take the lead on location. Boston Garden it was! They have a hoagie she likes. It's not on the menu. It is turkey with asparagus and cheese. She got that and was happy. We ordered off the kids menu for the boys. It was called Chicken Lips. At first I thought that was to be cute or make kids laugh, but after seeing my son's dinner, I thought maybe they were right to call it lips. They were the worst looking chicken tenders/nuggets I had ever seen. My son said they don't taste "familiar." I had the hot ham and cheese. How you can grill meat and burn half of it, I'll never know. It wasn't really "hot" either although somehow the cheese was melted. The seasoned fries were not good. All of their shake-on seasoning ended up at the bottom of the basket instead of on the fries.
While we were deciding where to do, I had teased my friend that I had a McDonald's Arch Card that had money on it to feed all four of us.....maybe that would have been a better choice.
One staff member was very friendly and attentive, really nice/friendly/attentive. (That may be a technique to make up for the food, I thought, but after watching the other waitress with her table, maybe our girl was genuine.) The decor....gross.
If you go, you won't see me there. -

stopped in while waiting for my car to be fixed...... i knew i was going to be a few hours. the wait-staff was about as good as it gets.
it was slow, while i was there, about 1/3 full, at lunch time.
but the waitress was right on top of everything and incredibly friendly.
i read some of the reviews before me, and the person was angry at Velveeta? surely there are people that like that stuff. (i am one) the food that was prepared for me, was perfect. i overheard the people at the next table also comment on how good their food was, and perfectly prepared. -

4 of us went there Sat night 630pm after a local movie..March 3 2012
This place needs a complete refit...looks and is run down and back to the 1960s..service very friendly but not good. Chicken strips burnt to a crisp, fish and chips greasy, itialian dish had no chicken (forgot to add) and was cold...fixed but tasted terrible. 4th dish acceptable but arrived late...chef forgot to cook it!!!!!!! for the order.
Dead at 8pm and was being cleaned for closing....
How they stay open is anyones guess when compared to other places close by to eat at. -
Review from Megan M.
This place isn't really a dive, it's just dingy, a little bit dirty and in DIRE need of a remodel. Half of it always appears to be under construction or just neglected. That being said, the food here is delicious. They have hot hoagies, really good fries, yummy "italian" food and really erratic service. I can almost always count on the one waitress we always seem to have to either be really on her game or seeming to forget she's a waitress. No matter, I've never been disappointed in the food, and usually I'm with a big group so I can forgive the service... and this place is ridiculously cheap.

Long standing restaurant on Main Street in Hopkins.
Usually good food but restaurant needs updating.
Good service by friendly staff and can get you in and out quick if you need to. -

At first sight this restaurant looks like a dive. Red checkered table cloths, random pictures on the walls, low light. We weren't sure what to expect.
Service was somewhat slow, but to be fair there were only 2 people working, one in the kitchen and one waitress. We ordered the garlic cheese bread and we got four very small pieces. Get the marinara, it is very good! Finally our pizza came out, and I'm pretty sure it was the best pizza we have eaten in the area. I can't remember the name but it had sausage, pepperoni, mushrooms and onions on it. It was excellent! We will be back, but probably just get an order to go. -

I have been coming to this place for about 15 years now. I like the old style decor, it has not changed in 15 years. I love the Italian sandwich/hogie with the peppers. I have not had one of the pizza's in 12 years so I can't really comment. Last time I went staff was very friendly, waitress came around a half dozen times, we spoke to the cook a couple times informally, not much was going on, we hit it during off hours before a movie at the Hopkins Cinema.

Stopped in for dinner before seeing a movie at the Hopkins dollar theater. Looks like the decor could use some updating but the food was great. It wasnt at all busy which is unfortunate becuase the staff were really nice- the cook even came out himself to make sure we enjoyed everything. Good food, resonably priced and cold bud light.
Check this place out if you arent looking for a fancy pants place to get a good sub. -

Good food, good service. Had breakfast and everything was great. Salt of the earth kind of place, nothing fancy and, as other reviewers have noted, not the most updated decor, but a very good value.

These people must be able to predict the future because I think they made my meal an hour before I even arrived. That's the only way to explain the unique texture and temperature of my breakfast. Everything was cold and stale. There were so many things wrong with this place it's easier to just make a list of them so here goes:
- Greasy soggy hashbrowns
- Cold hard toast and bagels
- The cheese omelette had kraft singles melted on top
- Surly waitress
- Coffee was luke warm and watered down
- Worst of all they don't even have real tobasco, just some off-brand crap
- Decor is rundown and dirty -

This place hasn't changed in 17 years! Good greasy breakfast, good subs, if in Hopkins, MN, this is a good lil' if not "weathered" restaurant. I hope they never ever redecorate :)

Great mom and pop shop! They really appreciate their regulars so go there more than once and you won't be disappointed. I recommend the BLTC.
