We have two cats and have used BFF several times over the last year for everything from a weekend trip to a 10 day vacation and have been very pleased every time.

Before the first visit Patryce came by and met with my husband, who showed her where everything was.  Since then it has a been a snap - we email BFF to schedule the days we need someone, BFF confirms availability and then we leave a note for the sitter with the basics.  Each time we've returned to find our mail brought in and notes detailing each day's visit.

There have been some challenges which BFF handled well - We were gone during boil water order in May.  When we emailed Patryce she confirmed that the sitters had been advised and we told her we had some filtered water in our fridge.  The sitter referenced this in her notes - so I feel comfortable that the message was passed along.

Our cats can't tell us for sure, but they always seem happy and healthy when we return.  The water and food look to have been changed and the litter box is always clean.

We used Felines and Fidos to sit for our cat this past weekend while we were out of town.  They were available on short notice and Patryce came over the very next day to meet with us for a quick consultation.  I showed her around and explained what we needed for our kitty, who's very easy.  We filled out a very comprehensive packet so they have all your info and instructions on file in writing.

When we came home, the kitty was happy, fed, and had clean litter.  Can't ask for much more than that!  The rates are very reasonable as well.  We will definitely use BFF again!

Well, I guess this service is for those within particular zip codes.

Perhaps not, but I was really offended when my email inquiry about crate training/puppy services was met with a "cheerful"- unfortunately, we don't service that part of Boston.

I mean, either you service Boston (I live in Dorchester) or you're exclusive to particular Boston neighborhoods.  Businesses have a right to choose their service areas, I get that, but I mean at least TRY to be a little more discreet with your elitism.  You have a business, you have vehicles, you have employees, I'm sure you have GPS systems, some clients CAN pay (even if they don't live in the South End)- what's the big deal? I probably would've been agreeable to an "out of area service fee", or a "fuel service charge",  but just an "unfortunately, we don't service that part of Boston"?

No on site services were even suggested. You know, so they wouldn't have to leave the perceived safe and poshy zones of 02116/02118.  I dunno, maybe I could've brought baby and crate there?? Who knows? I don't, that's why I inquired. I'm not the professional, but I am seeking such services/consultations.  Such great Yelp reviews, but this place clearly wasn't interested in ANY of my business (on site or off) once I listed my address and zip.

BLAH. Baaaad taste in my mouth.

The crew at Felines and Fidos takes great care of my Jeannie.  Very reliable!  I especially like the daily report that lets me know if anything's going on with her.  Also available on short notice and for the weekend.

I first want to say that I have had fantastic 5-star service from Felines and Fidos in the past.  Susan and Bill previously looked after my cat on several occassions without any issues.

However, I recently became aware that Felines and Fidos was sold to a new company.  While this is not unusual, it was disturbing to me to be notified after I was already on vacation overseas.

The new management had failed to notify me that they have both taken over control; and as they no longer had a copy of my keys; they failed to notify me that they would NOT be taking care of my cat UNTIL I was in another country.

Even worse, they then attempted to call our management company without our permission to try and obtain access to our apartment, causing a number of problems with our landlord as pets were not allowed, etc.

After 8 days overseas, thankfully we returned home to find our cat alive but pissed off.  However, the team at BFF made no effort to make things right - and it took them over a week to return our lost keys to us.

    Overall a horrible experience.

I found Boston Felines and Fidos while looking for a reliable cat-sitting service. This was our first real vacation since we got our second kitty, and we figured it would be easiest to leave them at home where they were comfortable. Unfortunately, none of our friends were available to stop by and with only 3 days until we were supposed to leave, we were running out of options.

I reached out to BFF and was contacted by Lisa, who told me that they were available for the time we requested, and they could schedule a consultation for the following day. We met with Patryce and showed her where everything was and everything was all set.

They offer a variety of services including watering plants, bringing in mail and taking out trash in addition to feeding the cats, providing fresh water, cleaning out the litter and spending some time with the cats. Our main concerns were the food, water and clean litter, since Rosemary and Starling do a good job keeping each other company already.

Our experience with Boston Felines and Fidos was great. We came home to 2 happy, healthy kitties and notes for each day detailing what services were provided and how they behaved. Everything was stress-free from the initial contact to the consultation to the paperwork. We'll certainly be using BFF again when we go on vacation.

This is an odd review to write....because with Boston Felines and Fidos, I've never met them (my girlfriend set it up), I never see them do their work, and the cat that they take care of, can't tell me how he feels about their service.

So that said, we've gone away several times and left our bad-ass cat in their hands, and so far as I can tell, all went ok. The cat is still alive and well, which really the only thing I can judge them on, he seems well fed and happy, and even has some new toys once in a while when we get back.

They also leave little report cards for the cat as well, which is kind of funny and a nice touch.

I am nothing but pleased with Boston Felines and Fidos. They took great care of my cat, Mooka, while I was away in Greece for two weeks. Every time they came, they filled out a little "report" about how she was doing, which I thought was very thoughtful. BF&F had me fill out her medical information, landlord information, and emergency contact information for while I was away, which I thought was extremely thorough and responsible. I will be using BF&F every time I travel and will recommend them to anyone who needs pet care!

Having recently moved to Boston and surrounded by friends who are allergic to cats, I realized I needed to find cat sitters. After some searching I came across Susan and William, that they were bonded was my first indication they meant business.
I emailed them, and they came by the next day to meet my girls. The cats immediately wanted attention (as cats tend to do), but what got me was they both sat on the floor and started playing with the cats, and were genuinely enjoying it. We talked for about 45 minutes, went over the thorough packet they left me to fill out (where the food is, what they like for treats, etc). I was a bit nervous going out of town for a week and leaving my cats in a strangers care, but daily email updates, and two very happy cats (with some new treats and toys)upon my return assured me I had made the right choice. I don't hesitate to leave town anymore, knowing my cats are in the best care I can get them!

I would not recommend Boston Felines and Fidos.  I made an appointment with the company at their convenience, and came home early from work to be at the consultation.  Not only did Boston Felines and Fidos not show up at all, they failed to call or email.  When I contacted them later that day, they were highly unapologetic for wasting my entire afternoon. I emailed them that this was very inconsiderate and never heard back from them. As someone who has worked extensively in customer service, I understand that mistakes are made at times.  However, the complete disregard for my time is what made me decide not to continue with Boston Felines and Fidos.   I love my cats very much and want to entrust them to someone who makes their appointments!

Boston Felines and Fidos replied  to me about the above review, based on the assumption that I am someone named Bob (I am not sure why they  thought I was "Bob"):
    Hi Bob,

I'm writing to try to come to an understanding on how someone could concoct a lie to try to damage someones reputation. A. You lied (Who is Julia E.) Not Bob!!! B. What two (2) Cats, your (only) cat died prior to the consultation! Did you forget to tell us that your cat was gravely ill??? By the way I'm sorry for your loss!!! The reason I did not make it to the consultation as I explained (but you did not care to here!!!) is because I had to put my cat of 16 years to sleep!!! I would think someone who just suffered a loss would understand if you were not thinking of only your self(ish)! So, yes, I would like not only an explanation but also an apology and a retraction of any negative info. you took the time to spew!!! A timely response would be greatly appreciated and expected of any decent human being?

    I replied to his company:
    Dear William,

My name is not Bob. I am a young woman who had an appointment with Susan that was missed with a "complete disregard" for my time. I did not lie. Fortunately, none of my cats have passed away. I am sorry to hear that your cat was put to sleep (this is the first I have heard of this, as I am not Bob);  you have me confused with someone else. I am sending an email to http://Yelp.com because I find your email not only based on some belief that I am "Bob", and thus incorrect, but also threatening. Besides being both of the above, it was unprofessional as a business owner and scary on a personal level. Please refrain from sending me future hostile emails. These forums are for people to share with others their opinion of businesses they have dealt with (which I did), and your emotional email calling me Bob only further confirms that you run your business in a completely unprofessional manner.

    Julia

This company  (who assumed I was "Bob" and my cat had passed away then sarcastically proclaims  "Sorry for your loss!!!" in a nasty email) should not be caring for animals.

I have recently hired Susan & Bill for grooming appointments for my two queens-of-the-household cats.  They are wonderful, reliable and accessible, and clearly have a magic touch with my sometimes groomaphobe felines.  They leave the facilities as clean as when they arrived (sometimes cleaner!) and my kitties look and smell terrific.  (Ask them about the scented fur wipes ;)  Like Raz, I like that they have made the investment to be fully insured.  For future cat sitting needs, I will definitely rely on Susan & Bill for their tender loving care.

Bill and Susan are great!   We had a hard time finding pet sitters for our rabbit (now two).  They have been so great to us and our pets.  I can see that they really enjoy our rabbits and that makes it so much easier to leave them at home.  I especially enjoy reading the "report cards" after we have been away.  They are thorough, caring and attentive.

BFF is super reliable! We signed up for their key service, so now all we have to do is call and book our dates. We traveled a lot last year, and it got to be a lot to ask of our friends. When we arrive home from a trip, we love to read the daily log of what our cats were up to. BFF is a big help and a great value for the piece of mind they provide.

i was completely satisfied with BFF! My cat is pretty low maintenance, but it was clear that BFF was ready to handle all types of special instructions some pets can have.  I found the rates per visit to be very reasonable as well!  There was an initial consultation to meet me and my cat, and to show BFF around my place, and upon my return i had a cute little report card with comments on each visit.  I will definitely use BFF for future vacations!

I am so pleased with the service I received from Boston Felines. As others here have related, they came to my house and befriended my (normally shy and grumpy) cat. While I was away they kept a daily log of the cat's activities, intake and output, and general demeanor. They even bought him some toys. I'd been upset and miserable about having to leave my cat for two weeks, but Bill and Susan made me feel so much better, and in the end everything worked out fine. The cat actually seemed kind of pissed when he saw us walk through the door -- I think he preferred them.
