Decent burger, full bar. If that's what you are looking for, Blackie's is a fine choice, and with so few restaurants in Glencoe, you could do a lot worse.
This Blackie's gets extra point for discretion, though. Last Friday night, my dad ate dinner here with my mom before leaving to pick me up from the airport. On the way home, I said that I was craving a burger, so once again, he found himself at Blackie's, now a few hours later with his daughter instead of his wife. We don't look alike, so to Blackie's, I was simply another woman.
We sat at the same table, and were served by the same server as earlier in the evening. Did they say hello sir, and welcome back? No! They just treated him like a stranger, out for dinner for the first time that night. No one so much as blinked when he just ordered coffee and paid for his meal in cash. We giggled behind our napkins.
So besides a decent burger, the best reason to hit up this place is: What happens at Blackie's, stays at Blackie's.
The hamburgers at Boston Blackie's are excellent. I've tasted no better burgers than the ones at Blackies. All the potato dishes are great too. Don't miss the Greek style pork chop - make sure to order it medium.
As long as I have been willing to sit in the bar area, I've never had trouble getting a seat.
I have taken out from here a couple of times and was disappointed.The hamburgers do not travel well.
I am not a fan of this place. I can think of at least twenty burger joints that I would rather eat at. The burgers are tasteless and overpriced. The bun isn't toasted. If you want add ons such as cheese, onions, or any other toppings they will charge you. The burgers come with no sides. The service is adequate and the coleslaw is the only redeeming quality because they use Caron's coleslaw. There are much better places in the area.
I went here again recently and it just seemed the place had gone downhill a bit. They changed the chicken wings to where they now sport a sweet sauce and the meal was just a bit off. I will try again in the not too distant future but I will not be going out of my way
