I've stayed here about six or seven times over the past five years, always on a Priceline deal. It is a very convenient location. Close to Fenway, shopping, Trader Joe's and Whole Foods, and the T. The staff has always been polite and professional. I greatly enjoyed my last stay here when I popped down to the bar for a glass of wine and met some very nice people while I sampled some good wine, decent fries and watched the Red Sox game on TV. Sometimes these hotel bars/restaurants attract locals, along with out of towners, and we all enjoyed some unexpected conversation.
The lobby is frumpy, with a Starbucks and some sort of lounge area that was not too inviting.
My last experience also left me with some discomfort as my deep sleep in a very comfortable bed was interrupted by the antics of the couple on the other side of the wall. I know that the hotel is not responsible for the activities of their visitors at 4 a.m. but I had the fan on a high speed and I could hear much more than I should have.
I have never paid more than $100 for a room here on Priceline, and I'd call that a decent bargain for the city of Boston.

Have two reviews on this one:
1) The normal weekend leisure traveler review (not me)
-Probably would give this four stars
-comfortable room, quiet hotel
-reasonable rate compared to Marriott and some other similiar properties
2) The Diamond HHonors business traveler who stays here for a combination of leisure and business
-Probably would give this two stars
-wireless only - didn't work for me and the rooms didn't have a wired option
-no executive lounge, breakfast exec lounge is a joke - no bottles of water, very limited food (fruit, warm food) for a Hilton - this is more what I'd expect at a Springhill or Courtyard not the Diamond Lounge of a Hilton (it's on the ground floor with no windows - compare that to Hiltons and Marriotts with real exec levels or take San Francisco which killed the Exec lounge, but gives you full breakfast in their normal restaurant not some ghetto version of it.
-gym was ok, but once again - compared to the gym at the Hilton Chicago, SF, or NYC, this was mediocre
-Great check-in process and service from the staff (the valet guy is awesome).
My biggest problem is that compared to comparable Hiltons in other major cities, this does not measure up.
Recently helped host a conference here. Event Staff were very helpful and professional. Loading dock is small and can really only accommodate one vehicle at a time.
Rooms are typical for the brand, clean, well kept, and bathroom fixtures and carpets are relatively new.
Restaurant and Pub serve up the usual hotel fare. Well done but nothing of particular interest. There is a small Starbucks in the lobby which was convenient when all one needed was a coffee or a light snack and did not want to commit to taking a table elsewhere.
Parking situation is a bit odd with an garage adjacent that you get to by driving past the main entrance.
All in all good downtown hotel.
Had a conference here last week and it was... meh. I didn't stay at the hotel since it was stupid expensive according to the conference site ($350 per night?!). The general services they provided were mediocre at best. The food was bland. The coffee was bland. The wifi was super expensive. ($100 a day for meeting guests not staying at the hotel.) Definitely have been to much better Hiltons, etc. for conferences. I'm sure that the rooms are comfy but I'll never find out because I will never want to pay over $200 for a room and then shell out another $25 for wifi.

Eat at the restaurant(40 Dalton) at your own risk...we got sick after eating there...no wonder when you see how they failed the city health inspection..see the link above. Also..we did not feel safe with only one security officer on duty at a time...running around with too much to do.

What an excellent way to end a vacation. Last night of a week-long trip, this place was absolute bliss. Walking distance to Fenway Park (about 10-15 minutes, max). I felt totally comfortable walking around the area at night. It's a block or two away from Berklee College of Music if that's where you are going, and is right across the street from the Prudential Center. Excellent location.
Oh, and the room itself? Fabulous. Huge monstrous bed, for all your sleeping desires and non-sleeping pursuits. Large windows overlooking various parts of Boston. There's a parking lot with the hotel, and it's a little spendy ($37 for one night!! Eeesh!), but street parking has meters that go from 8am-8pm, so unless you want to run out and feed the meter, may as well just pay to park.
Three elevators, which sometimes can take a while, but they're super fast once you're on them.
Oh, and Priceline got me a deal at $85/night.

With my husband away at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in Georgia, my brother and I decided to meet up in Boston for a Red Sox game. Unfortunately, there was a lot of rain even though they got the game in and we did get to go to Fenway Park!
This hotel is fanstastic, especially when you consider the rate we had. Right now, with the economy being bad, there are a number of travel values around if you know how to look for them. We had each reserved the one bed king rooms. I liked that the rooms we had could adjoin for a suite, which we did. My bed was exceptionally comfortable. The room had all of the standard amenities like ironing board, coffee maker, etc. It had a large desk and work station area. Plus a wonderful view of Boston.
As for the rest of the hotel, it had a terrific bar, Forty Dalton. We fled there after the fifth inning or so of the game because we were getting rained on. So we had a nightcap there. We ate dinner there too, and I tried something new--lobster mac and cheese!
I particularly liked the pool and fitness center, which were both recently renovated. The fitness center had free wieghts, a full set of weight training equipment, and Life Fitness machines. My bro and I challanged each other to an endurance workout on our last morning there.
This is a wonderful place to stay. Highly recommended.

Tired of my sleepy little town of Somerville, I decided to vacation in the big city this weekend. And the Back Bay Hilton was my hotel. Yes, I could've walked there in about 90 minutes from my apartment, but I felt like an absolute tourist while there and I wouldn't have it any other way.
The lobby is the kind of "somewhere between pleasant and elegant" that you'd expect from a higher end chain hotel, and my room there was spacious and equipped with a large TV and larger bed. The hotel had a pool on the 7th floor, a restaurant that serves lobster mac'n'cheese on the 1st, and the entire city of Boston right out the door.
The Back Bay Hilton is steps away from the Pru, Newbury Street, and King's (the finest bowling alley in the city). Sold!

Location, location.....Hotel is located close to shopping and restaurants on Newbury Street.
Rooms and lobby are standard Hilton, nothing special.

I got an awesome deal on Hotwire for a night's stay here ($89/night on certain March & April weekends) so I jumped on it despite the fact that I was born and raised here. Sometimes it's nice to play tourist in your own city.
The Back Bay Hilton is just an awesome location. Super close to the Pru, Newbury Street, Boylston Street, Mass Ave., endless restaurants, tons of shopping, etc.
The lobby is really big and clean. The front desk staff were very cordial and pleasant. The room we had was immaculate. Huge king size bed which was super comfy. Giant TV (but without Food Network or TLC, random). Nice bathroom, excellent water pressure!!! The view from the 9th floor was nice, directly towards the Christian Science Center. I bet higher up is even nicer.
The fitness center was a little small but nicely kept. The pool and jacuzzi looked nice too.
There is also a storage closet if you need to stash your bags after checking out. We did for about 4 hours. Nice.
Don't bother parking here though!!! The garage next door (the one next to Kings) is $12 overnight but only if you're there between 4PM-6AM. Otherwise, the rates are astronomical. I moved my car at 6AM to the street, which is metered starting at 8AM. At 8:15AM I had a parking ticket. Huge pain, don't bother with a car here.

Stayed here on several occasions and never had a bad experience. I think every time I've stayed here I've ended up with a room for about $100-$180 a night - which is a good deal for the area.
Standard amenities clean rooms, pleasant staff.
What do you do when you need to stay in a hotel but not want to pay $200+ a night? Priceline! My friend and I were in town for a wedding and were able to score the Hilton Back Bay for $250. For two nights. How great is that? When I first made the reservation, it was for 1 King bed, but the front desk was gracious enough to give us a 2 Queen room when I asked about switching.
It was in a prime location, near some bars and restaurants, including the bar the bridal party ended up at. We were able to do some shopping on Newbury Street, as well, as it ended up being a few blocks away.
The rooms are a decent size and Sarah H is right, the bed was super comfortable! I would definitely come back, but after checking Priceline first!

Right in the middle of the action and just a block off Boylston Street, this place is quite a nice hotel. The staff is extremely nice and helpful and it was fairly inexpensive ($130/night). The only hitch is parking, which is another $35/night self-park and $40 for valet.
I'd recommend this place if not simply for its location. You can walk from here to just about anywhere.
A friend and I stayed here for a weekend in November. We were in town for our friend's wedding.. and this location worked out lovely! I'd never been to Boston before was able to navigate the T from the airport to the hotel with no issues. We were also really only in town and not doing wedding related activities for a day or so.. and this hotel was in a great location for us! . We were able to hit up some bars, restaurants, and shopping in our allotted time. Perfect.
And I have to say.. this might have been the most comfortable bed I have ever slept on. It was divine. Next time I am in Boston.. I will aim to stay again.

You really can't beat this location. I had been to the Hilton Back Bay in 2005 to visit friends who were staying there, and they had a lovely lounge with comfortable sofas and chairs. Unfortunately, they are now doing some renovation to the hotel, and the lounge area is temporarily missing, but I'm sure it will be beautiful when it's finished.
Our room was located on the 4th floor, so we didn't have much of a view. But the room was large enough to comfortably fit a roll-a-way bed in it with the two double beds. It's often difficult to find a reasonably priced room for the Boston Marathon, but my friend made the reservation on-line almost a year before and got the room for $179 a night. Since we were bunking three to the room, it was quite the deal! They didn't even charge us extra for the roll-a-way.
The hotel is right next to the Hynes Convention Center and the finish line of the marathon and is in the heart of the Back Bay near lots of restaurants and shopping. We were able to walk pretty much everywhere, even to the buses at Boston Common the morning of the race.
The room had a coffee maker, hair dryer, and a flat screen TV. In the lobby they had two computers for free Internet access, and one also on the ballroom level, which never had a wait since people didn't seem to know about it. That one also had a printer connected to it. A business center with two or three computers was located on the 4th floor, so we passed it every time we got in or out of the elevators, but unfortunately it was closed as part of the remodeling, or so we were told. For some reason the computers were on 24-hours a day, but the door was locked and no one was ever in there.
I would definitely stay at the Hilton Back Bay again since it was so reasonable, the staff was friendly, they have a restaurant and room service, and you can't beat the location. We didn't have any trouble getting there from the airport on the T.

Location is awesome! I stayed here last night with a group of friends. The rooms are a decent size, big enough to fit two twin air beds on the floor. The beds are extremely comfortable and the pillows are amazing!
If you're into the mini bar, this place is stocked like you wouldn't believe. It's a snackers paradise, if you don't mind paying $5.50 for a bag of M&M's. We decided to hit up the local mini mart about two minutes down the road.
We checked out the gym and pool area, both looked decent. There was free poland springs water available in the gym for those of you who like to break a sweat on vacation.
The room was clean and the TV was pretty nice as well.
If you're looking for a hotel within walking distance to much of downtown Boston, this is the place for you.
**Parking is $30.00 at the garage next to the hotel for the night... it is right before the hotel on the right side of the road on Dalton street. It is $35 to park at the hotel and $39 to valet for the night.

Floor 24 looks to be the place where all Hilton Honors members go for the "free" room. The chain has at last stopped nickel-and-diming (even before the recession), so the free amenities now include fitness center (with pool and small hot tub), wireless internet in the lobby ($14.95 in the room otherwise) and HD channels on the room's big flat-screen TV.
For some reason, the online reservation system thought we wanted a handicapped access room, so we got room 2408 with the substantial-sized bathroom with a walk-in shower (which I prefer). The closet was small, but two nightstands and a three-drawer dresser accommodate more.
The Hynes Convention Center stop on the Green Line is the closest T stop, although you can get out at Copley Square or Prudential Center and to hit the mall that connects with the Sheraton, which is right across the street from the Hilton.
3.5 stars.
First - keep in mind that this is for only one night, and furthermore, I got such a deal on this hotel that it does affect my opinion.
Rack rate for the night I was there was $300+ per night for this evening back in October 2007 - - - I pricelined a hotel in Boston 3 stars and above in the Copley Square Area - - and got the Hilton Back Bay for a STEAL @ $80/night.
-Excellent , friendly service by the front desk.
-The room was decent in size, bathrooms pretty good. The decor was old and a bit shabby, but still pleasant enough. View was good.
- Good proximity to Logan Airport
- Good proximity to many Boston landmarks.
Like I said, it was only for one night and it was a mere stopover. I am not sure that I would opt to stay at this hotel if I had a week's stay in Boston. For rack rate, I absolutely would NOT, but at $80/night, I would be hardpressed to find a better deal - - it'd be tempting.
It ain't a Starwood Hotel - - but then again, at $80/night, Starwood would put me in a shoebox w/ running water, if I'm lucky, so this was worthwhile!

This is one of my favorite hotels and my favorite in Boston. They have this room on every floor **16, like 1016 or 1116 and so on. It has a sweeping bay window about 35 ft long and curved so that you have a panoramic view of the city. You can see all the way from the Charles River to Framingham. It's wonderful. You can request that room too! High speed wirless access, great beds and sheets, it ever has a double headed shower.
Walking distance to Fenway Park, The Prudential Mall and the Green Line. Very cool, try to get an upper floor.

I guess I'm feeling generous or something but this was really a 3.5 star place for me. Apparently there are under a multi-million dollar renovation (according to the sign in the lobby) so I guess if I come back, things might change.
I checked in, and I'm on the 6th floor. No biggie. But the view outside the room was depressing and this is the Hilton HHonors floor. The room was dated and the chair in the room was actually quite stained. The bed was comfy though. The bathroom seemed tiny, definitely not big enough if there were two people staying in the room. Room service was surprisingly cheaper than I thought and very prompt.
Here are the little things that bugged me: $12.95 for internet. The Hilton Checkers in LA had it for $9.95. Seems pricey. But what are you going to do? The business center nickle and dimes you for everything.
Other than that, meh. It was okay.
This hotel was pretty awesome. We were there on a HH free stay. They put us on the 24th floor facing the Charles River. Totally amazing. Could see Fenway Park and Cambridge. The hotel was close to the Prudential T stop and the Prudential Center (lots of food). It is pretty much walking distance to everything. The hotel newly renovated and looks pretty nice on the inside. The outside isn't really really fancy, but looks like a nicer Hilton. There might also be free internet in the lobby, but I'm not sure.
The new Hilton in Back Bay is across from the Sheraton by the Hynes. My family just stayed there and it was only $189.00 per night for a large clean room with 2 double beds, a tv, cable, etc. The pool is great as is the fitness center and patio.
I was only able to stay here by using my Hilton points (hefty sum :( ). But the view of my room was worth it (not all rooms had this luxury). I was quite high up and had the most beautiful view of Cambridge. Heard the game cheers during the Red Sox game at night. Great starting point for walking tour of Boston. Nice doorman.

This place is really convenient. 2 blocks to the T and skipped down to Fenway on it in a few minutes. My room was very nice and clean. nice Crabtree and Evelyn bath products. Something was broken in my bathroom and they fixed it right away. Only complaint is I was on a HHonor floor and it was only the 3rd floor - no view at all. Oh room service was really prompt. I think all the fees associated with it were a bit much thou.
Very nice stay at a downtown, high rise hotel. Parking was easy and the place wa not too hard to find. They gave me an upgraded corner room which was a big plus. Everything in the room worked and it was clean. Great stay!
