We picked this place since three of our party are on a gluten-free diet and it offered an impressive number of gluten-free options. I was pleasantly surprised when I found out that they make their own gluten-free pizza crust instead of the ready-made, cardboard-tasting crust you are served elsewhere. Their homemade crust was thin and tasty, the toppings were delicious - it truly was the best GF pizza I've had to date and felt I was in gluten-free heaven! My husband had the regular "Pepperoni" pizza - with the thin and crispy crust you find in Italy, and a taste to match. Excellent! My friend chose the "Godfather" pasta, a huge serving of spaghetti with sweet Italian sausage, roasted eggplant/red bell peppers and spicy tomato sauce. Great taste, the dish could be improved by a less generous amount of sauce though. A plus for gluten-sensitive individuals: You can enjoy any of their pasta dishes by replacing the pasta with their homemade risotto.

My son had the Caesar Salad with chicken (minus the croutons) and found the dressing delicious. I opted for their Roasted Garlic Chicken Salad - a generous amount of tender, juicy chicken on a bed of mixed greens and roasted peppers - and was not disappointed.

We decided to skip dessert. They did not have a gluten-free dessert item yet but our server assured us that they were working on one. Can't wait to get back to see if it's as tasty as their other menu items.

A word about service: All our servers were very friendly, attentive, enthusiastic and extremely speedy. When we asked for the bill we were told that they had taken one of the ordered items off the bill because it had arrived five minutes later than the rest. That was unexpected but very much appreciated.

    Loved this restaurant!

Bosko's has a nice, classic Italian feel to it.  We have come here several times and always feel welcomed in.  Calistoga seems so inviting, and Bosko's contributes nicely to the small town vibe going on here.

The food is wonderful. It's not trying to be anything overboard foodie, it just hits you with great sauces, traditional Italian and nice heaping servings of everything.  The noodles are homemade.

If you ever have an itch for Italian when near Calistoga, this is a consistent stop that is sure to deliver great service and food.

Average comfort food with large portions. I strongly recommend sharing a dish between at least 2 people.

Pretty low key and quiet place with friendly wait staff.

I was excited to eat here because I read that they make their own pasta.  I have been holding on to a Groupon and finally got to use it during one of our mineral bath trips to Calistoga.

The place is located right in downtown Calistoga, so pretty convenient.  We easily found parking in one of the alleys, though it is off season so that maybe different during the summer months.

The place is not fancy.  Looked like a pizzeria but large and deep.  The servers were energetic and friendly, though we noticed that they spend more time chatting with regulars.  Did not really bother us as we were not neglected.

We ordered the lemon baked artichoke for starters which was a little greasy but nonetheless tasty.  We also ordered the Bolzano Pizza, the Piacere pasta, and the the cheesecake which was highly recommended.  We also had a bottle of local Zin which was excellent.  The pasta was definitely fresh, but I found the sauce to be lacking in complexity.  It was just okay.  The pizza was a little better and the cheesecake I should have just passed since it did not taste fresh or special.

Over all we had an OK experience.  We were pretty impressed with our server who was enthusiastic talking about the food there, but sadly the actual dishes we had did not live up to it.  I think this place would be good for families and friends, because they are certainly friendly and accommodating.

Food is super tasty, prices are very reasonable. I was in love with this place, I would had give it 5 stars if it wasn't because the waitress forgot that we asked for bread, and didn't realized it until the last minute, and wanted to give it to me to go what...  Other than that human mistake everything else was nice, the place is small but elegant.

Way better than the nasty meal I had at jole.  Pizza was perfect with a nice crisp that lasted as I inhaled every slice.  Hubby's handmade pasta was delish as well.  Came back for dinner and the risotto was unimpressive (I guess I've just had better and I'm uber picky with risotto).     Service at lunch was far better than dinner.

Been coming here for years with the familia and recently came here for my cousin's birthday.

This place is located in the little town of Calistoga.    3.5 stars for an Italian joint.  Started off with the house salad with balsamic vinaigrette  Then ordered my cousin's favorite the Fettuccine Treviso which is bay scallops, mushrooms, And pesto cream sauce over fettuccine $15.50.  Hubby ordered the Silvana, Marinated chicken sauteed with mushrooms, broccoli & zucchini, in a creamy garlic sauce tossed with linguine $15.50.

Not a bad place and everything is made really fresh.

Not a bad little spot at all! After spending the whole day loading, then unloading the Uhaul for our move to Calistoga, before my parents headed home they took Boyfriend and I out for dinner. Bosko's is where my Dad chose, and it was not a bad choice at all.

First of all, the air conditioning here works very well and my water glass was always full. A major plus on such a hot day.

I had the chicken Caesar salad. My Dad had the chicken piccatta (sp?!) which I didn't taste but I did try the polenta that came with it and can honestly say it was one of the most delicious polenta dishes I've ever had. Boyfriend had the mushroom and sausage pizza which was delicious and my mom had the italian sausage sandwich. I didn't try it but everything else did and they all liked it.

Most dishes are between $14-20 bucks. Not a great value for italian, but again, good service, nice atmosphere. We'll be back.

Had the Chicken Piccata, it was pretty good. Exchanged the polenta for some risotto. The Chicken was alright, a little hard and chewy. The veggies were pretty good and the risotto was OK.

Very nice service, we ordered and picked up our food.

One thing that I found strange was that they didn't give us bread and when my husband asked about it they said "oh we typically charge for bread" but still gave us some. It was a nice gesture but wait a second... you charge for BREAD? Possibly the only restaurant I've ever seen that does that.

We stopped by for dinner on a Friday night and got seated pretty quick. The service from then on was verryyyyyyyyyyy slow. We had to flag down a waiter to take our order and the food took a long time to come.

For starters we ordered "famous" meatballs. There wasnt anything exciting about it so i'm not sure how they ended up being famous. I ordered the Glorioso which came with garlic, olive oil, mushrooms, red chilies, spinach, tomatos and chicken with pasta shells- not bad. He ordered the Silvana which came with chicken, mushrooms, broccoli, zucchini and a creamy sauce- his dish was very bland. For dessert we shared the 3 layer chocolate torte which was overly sweet.

    OK overall.

FUNCTIONAL FIND is right. Not sure how Bosko's has received such high marks; perhaps lack of competition and faminished diners with palate-fatigue.

The dining room is comfortable & cozy, reminding me of a mom & pop Lyon's or chain of diner-style restaurants with an awesomely perserved facade. The lighting is dim but that didn't deter from the food's disappointment.

3 stars for friendly host & servers!

My friends opted for the famous pizzas -- but one was too strong in flavor, the other totally lacking. My friend ordered the godfather pasta, a top seller, but she couldn't tell if the pasta was freshly made. She also felt that she could make it better at home. :(

3-stars for the minnestrone soup w lots of fresh vegetables. My fettucini treviso was warm, creamy & pesto-y... wish these were fewer, but bigger scallops. Otherwise it was tasty. :l

Portions are generous, but do NOT justify Napa / Yountville pricing.

Fantastic hidden gem! Went here last night and had:

    1) Bosko Salad - modified with Grilled Salmon vs the tuna. AH---MAZING! I *heart* this. This was the BEST salmon I've ever had. It was PERFECTLY cooked and seasoned!

    2) Chicken Piccata - Good size chicken breast with very, very tasty veggie sides and polenta.

    3) Magarita Pizza - Good... not the best.

    4) Tiramisu - DEFINITELY not the best and prolly wouldn't recommend. It came in a bowl!!! I didn't order the pizza or the tiramisu (my friend did) so I'm not really partial to really review it.

I would LOVE to come back for the salad and chicken piccata! The service was fantastic too! Super amazing! Awesome experience!

This place has received a number of 5-star reviews, but damned if I can understand why.

We stopped in here seeking some casual food in a casual atmosphere, but came away with no interest in ever returning. The service, in a word, was atrocious. We entered around 6pm, and the restaurant was half empty. Despite this, we waited for several minutes at the front for someone to seat us. After seating, we waited almost ten minutes before someone greeted us or took any notice of us. My companion threatened to walk out. I understand that restaurants can't always take your order (even a drink order) immediately, but no one even greeted us or brought us water.

Given the wait we had already encountered, we ordered the foccacia appetizer to make sure we had something to munch on as we awaited the main course. Immediately after we had placed our order we were brought fresh bread and butter, pretty much obliviating the reason we had ordered the foccacia. If the bread had been brought when we had sat down, had the server mentioned that bread would be coming.....things might have been different.

Let me restate: the service was awful. Not only did our server only come infrequently to our table, he seemed to *never* be looking at us. Every time he placed something on our table, he was looking elsewhere. A couple a few tables behind us stood up from their table and began to put their coats on. As they were still standing there someone came over and started clearing their table in front of them. Our bill was whisked off our table as soon as we had signed the receipt, but while we were finishing our drinks. Perhaps someone had called in sick; perhaps they were understaffed. The answer to this is to explain and apologize, not simply provide crappier service.

The main dishes we had were tasty, but it in no way makes up for service we received. I can't imagine how bad it gets when the place is packed.

After a day of wine tasting, I found myself searching for a place with good eats.  Now, while I didn't really have a good at experience at Bosko's before, we found parking right in front and there was no wait to be seated on a Saturday night.  So, I decided to give Bosko's one more shot.  And let me tell you, I'm SO glad that I did!!!

The service at Bosko's tonight was completely amazing!  Our waiter was attentive and our food came out quick and HOT!  Of course, I had to start with the amazing garlic bread.  This may be the best garlic bread I've ever had in a restaurant - so buttery, garlicky, and that bread is just so darn soft!  For an entree, I had the Piemonte pasta, which was grilled onions, sausage, and mushrooms over pasta shells in a tomato cream sauce.  As I typed that my mouth seriously watered.  It was SO GOOD! The homemade pasta combined with the amazing trio of flavors was enough to stop my conversation and focus solely on stuffing my mouth! My boyfriend had the Crispino pizza and the combination of the bitter arugula, salty prosciutto, and velvety fontina cheese was truly fantastic!  Even thought we were both stuffed to the brim after our main course, we had to have affogato: a scoop of vanilla ice cream doused in a shot of espresso.  YUM!

Looking back, I'm so GLAD that I tried Bosko's a second time!  Nothing like a restaurant that goes from zero to hero in my book!  Bravo, Bosko's I'm a fan!

We stopped by Boskos Trattoria after wine tasting for lunch. We were seated promply and the service was excellent. The food was good. We both had pasta dishes. I had the Fettuchini Trevisio - it was hot and the sauces and seafood blended quite well. My wife had the Sophias Rigatoni, which she enjoyed as well. Their wood fired pizzas looked excellent and we may try one on our next trip! All in all a very nice meal in a good setting!

This was a  functional find in the downtown of Calistoga when my family was starved from hiking earlier in the day and was craving carbs.

Although they carry pizzas here we headed straight for the pasta section of the menu. All their pastas are made fresh :)

    1) Silvana- Basically Chicken and a few vegetables stirred in a garlic sauce. I actually thought the taste and texture were kind of like noodles in a peanut sauce for some reason. It is a thicker creamier sauce and I guess with most cream sauces one gets sick of it after too many bites because one gets caught up finally by the richness.  It was ok.

    2) Piacere!- Linguini and Clams that was a watered down version. The broth was too spicy for my liking and too watery. There wasn't much substance either. I thought they would give more clam or shrimp at least but there were only a few pieces hidden here and there.

    3) Fettuccini Treviso- Hands down the best dish of the 3 we ordered. I'm a HUGE pesto sauce fan. Pesto, mushrooms and scallops together are a wonderful combination. This would be probably one of the few exceptions where I didn't mind cream in a sauce either. It is definitely a win.

We might just stop back again if in the area to try other things on the menu  if we take a mini- vacay to Napa Valley again.

After visiting two wineries today, we capped off the evening with dinner at Bosko's.  YUM!!! It was wonderful!!  Our waitress, Anna, was fantastic!  We started out with the Bosko's salad which had lettuce, egg, albacore tuna and tomato in a really good vinaigrette dressing.  It was great!  For our meal, I had pizza with carmelized onions, goat cheese, and roasted peppers and my boyfriend had the 4 cheese pizza. Both were EXCELLENT and we brought home what we couldn't eat for dinner tomorrow.  The pizzas were large and fairly priced!  The hostess deserves a mention as she was friendly and fun!  VERY CLEAN restaurant and bathrooms too!  I'll be back again and again!! GREAT JOB, BOSKO'S!!!!!

Let me start off by saying, I really want to go back and sample some more of their food because I feel like it should be better and I want to give them another chance. That being said.....

We went here after purchasing a Groupon for $50. We brought our own wine (not to be cheap, but because it was our anniversary and we had this special bottle) and sat at the bar. It was a Friday night at 8:30 and the place was pretty empty.

We started out with the goat cheese filled peppers which were pretty damn good. They serve it with some greens and topped with pine nuts. Maybe it is just my bad carb addiction but I really wanted some croistini with it (or something crunchy to balance out the creaminess of the cheese). We also had the garlic foccacia bread which was essentially foccacia bread drenched in garlic butter.

Our second course we split the Basilicata pasta and added chicken. This was delicious and the pasta was cooked perfectly. Definitely a must to add chicken. We also ordered the Prima Calazione pizza which was a big disappointment. We were so psyched about it with the egg and everything. The pizza was undercooked and there were no potatoes to be seen. It lacked flavor and for a restaurant that specializes in traditional pizzas, I was a little bummed.

We finished with the chocolate cake which was pretty tasty. It had white, milk, and dark chocolate layers and will not disappoint.

Like I said, I would love to give this place another shot. The service seemed at little "off" and the food a little sub-par.

If I can give Bosko's 6 star, I would.  Their Linguini Cefalu -- a seafood linguini dish in a unique spicy sauce -- is simply THE best such dish I ever had.  The noodles were really good, the seafood fresh, the broth super tasty.  My hubby also enjoyed his ravioli dish very much (excellent cream sauce, he says).

Another plus: they even let my MIL order from the kids menu (she likes to do that when she can).

Seems like the Yelp reviews that mention many good dishes all across the menu were true!  I just LOVE Yelp.

Since it was Valentine weekend, and the weather was sunny and 70F that weekend (super super gorgeous), they were packed.  We chose to sit at the bar, towards the back of the restaurant, as we didn't want to wait 25 minutes with our infant baby.  It worked out perfectly, as baby was fussy and we could be away from other patrons.  There were lots of space to walk around with the infant in our arms too, without annoying other people.  The manager at the bar was a very friendly Italian guy and we enjoyed a nice conversation with him throughout the meal.

Overall, prices were very reasonable for Napa Valley.  I hope they keep up the good food, good vibe, and good prices!  Definitely will come back again whenever we are in Napa Valley area!  Bosko's really added to our positive experience of Calistoga.  A highlight of our trip!  Love it when this happens.

    Came for a early dinner.

    Ordered a pizza and pasta.

Pasta was the Godfather.  Italian sausage, eggplant, garlic, onions, and bell peppers in a tomato sauce with spaghetti.  Pasta was yummy.

We ordered the Angelo pizza with extra sauce.  our first pizza came with no sauce.  Sent it back, came back with a little bit of sauce, but not the extra we ordered.  It was decent. Nothing crazy.  You really have to do something bad to mess up pizza.

You should def get their lemon baked artichoke for appetizers.  It was a great way to start of the meal.  Next, i recommend ordering a pizza which was delicious.   It is thin crust with a chewy doughy upper crust (you know, the part you hold).   We ordered our pizza with sausages and mushrooms - soo good - maybe a tad salty for some but i like it salty.

You can sit at the bar and eat too.  It can get kind of packed in there so be prepared for that.  But prices are affordable and i love that.  2 beers, a pizza, 2 appetizers for under $50.  Great value and delicious food.

Only went to the bar for a refreshment stop. The staff were very nice and courteous. My husband had a Gordon Biersch on tap and I had a raspberry iced tea (wiiiild child) which they were happy to refill.

It would be nice if they had a larger selection of beer on tap (they only had three, I believe). We wouldn't hesitate to come back for lunch or dinner on a future visit.

Went here with my husband for dinner.  I called ahead to see if they took reservations, which they do not, but they went ahead and booked us a table anyway.  When we arrived we received more than outstanding service from our server.  Would definitely reccommend this place to anyone looking for a delicious Italian meal and an interesting selection of wines.  My favorite was the "Secco" a Sparkling Rose that was reccomended by the bartender.

Came here on Memorial Weekend. The wait was about 20 mins. When we finally got seated, the manager brought us garlic bread for having to wait. We order the lunch pasta, which included pasta dish of your choice and soup or salad. All of us got the minestrone soup, not to tasty. Very bland. The pasta dishes were very good and filling. My husband had one of the sandwiches he said it was very good.
    Would come back.

Wonderful time had by all!  My husband and I used a Groupon for our 20th anniversary dinner here and it worked out very well!  The food was delish and, since we went on a Wednesday, it was retail wine night!  That means that you could get a bottle of wine for what it would cost in the store, so we got a bottle of Sangiovese for $14!  We also got an antipasto plate that was very good.  Then, DH got the salmon with polenta and I got a pizza with prosciutto and arugula. Yummy!  The waitress remembered it was our anniversary and let us choose a free dessert and then also brought us two glasses of framboise and champagne!  We left veerrrrryyy happy!

we inhaled our pasta at bosko's!  granted, we had spent a day wine tasting and soaking in mineral pools, but i'd still recommend the place nonetheless.  cozy, easy, and relatively well-priced for the area.

Just recently ate lunch here and we really enjoyed it ! We ordered 3 entrees....Caesar salad, homemade pasta, pizza and cheese cake for dessert, Had it  with a great cab 2008 from one of the most famous vineyards in Calistoga.
Everything tasted wonderful,  the service was excellent, very knowledgeable. Would like to eat here again !

After a great day in Calistoga, downtown on Liberty St., this pizza joint is not too bad.  Actually for a full fledged italian restaurant it does an excellent job in most areas.

Although I can read, our group made the fatal mistake of ordering Happy Hour appetizers & beers in the "restaurant" and not at the "bar."  For which, we were charged full price vs. the special which was not a great way to end the meal but I digress.

The lemon baked artichoke was amazing served with its classic garlic aioli.  The foccacia garlic bread was full of flavor and a great way to ensure bad breath for a lifetime.

On to entrees, I had the Palazo pizza (eggplant, chevre, roasted red peppers) wood fired oven pizza which the menu specifically cited that it may have burnt edges.  I find this hilarious as how many people had to complain about a wood fired pizza being "burnt" until they were forced to put a comment on the menu.

The balance of our group had Chicken piccata, linguini piacere, & finally the gnocchi!  It was this final dish that blew the table away.  Pefectly cooked in a sausage bolognese sauce.

My only complaint and the reason for three stars were the incompetent wait staff.  After enjoying my pizza and asking for it to be wrapped, my wife wanted here pasta in the same carton on the side.  The next day, we found they put her pasta on top of my pizza which ruined any chance of salvaging the pizza.  As much as I love egg plant, chevre, roasted red pepper linguini pizza, I have to say stupidity has clouded my memory of Bosko's.
