I think people's idea of what 'cheap' or 'affordable' is on Yelp is skewed poorly, being people seem incredibly cheap and maybe should prepare most of their own meals...having said that Bosco bakery was clean, fresh, had a large variety, and most importantly was delicious. Also, the to go packaging was very befitting.
Perhaps you can get some of the same treats for less at a dirty bakery, where items are stale, and the service staff is rude, but in the arena of edibles you get what you pay for! -

Not great overall.
Their mammoth bread is better than from Cake House, and they have cream puffs. That's it. Other selection of bread/pastries are mediocre at best. -

My girlfriend's friend's boyfriend (I know I sound like that one girl from Ferris Bueller's Day Off as she's describing how she knows Ferris and his illness) picked us up a pastry from here.
It was sort of just a generic flaky pastry with some chocolate chips on top and inside. I really wasn't impressed. -

The cream cheese brioche was dry and the filling was... disappointing. it had 5 smidgens of cheesy stuff that really wasn't cheesy... The pizza bread was also... weirdly not "pizza" like. It was more like a vegetable panjan on a bread. I do like their mochi bread, but appreciate a nice ambianced cafe in the middle of K-town.

wait till they bring out a fresh batch of bread!
Must try the roti bun & the purple sweet potato filled bread! -
Review from Abby C.
Food/Cost: (2/5) Of my 3 items, the Mocha Bread ($2.25) was the only okay one -- the mocha flavor was there. I also had the Cream Cheese Brioche ($2.50) and the Purple Rice Bread ($2.25), but neither impressed. The bread was dry for the Cream Cheese Brioche and there wasn't much filling inside. The Purple Rice Bread had this weird taste to it, which I couldn't place, but I didn't like it. Perhaps I should have tried the Roti Buns here instead, which some people seem to like. They had a pretty good variety of pastries, breads, and cakes here, but I don't expect to come back all that soon to try them -- I think my bakeries in the SGV still take the cake ;)
Ambiance: (4/5) Bosco clean, simply decorated, and welcoming. It's open storefront invites you to peruse their display of breads, pastries, and cakes.
Location: (4/5) The Korea Town Plaza in which Bosco is located is right on Western -- of course, in the Ktown area -- and has its own parking structure attached (not sure how pricing, if any, works as I just walked over from my friend's apartment). There's plenty of street parking around, but as there are apartments all around, you may need to look a little. Still, I've never had problems finding street parking in this area.
Service: (3/5) Cash only if under $10 -- booo. It's self-serve in the bakery area, where you choose your own breads and take your tray to the cashier to pay, so there's not much service going on, but the folks are the cashier were smiling and cheerful.
Overall: (2.5/5) Despite the cute and inviting appearance, the food items I picked up here doesn't entice me to come back. When it comes to Asian pastries and breads, I've gotten much better elsewhere for cheaper. -

Nice variety and huge selection compared to all the other Korean bakeries that are serving the same breads and pastries.
For that reason alone, I will go back.
Downside: Higher price point than most Korean bakeries
Located inside Koreatown Plaza on the ground floor.
Parking: free in parking structure -

Typical Korean pastries. I like that they have a wide variety and seem to always be well stocked w pastries. Not much to say, but they do seem a little bit higher priced than other places. I like this place, but personally I like Paris Baguette a little bit more ;P

It's a nice bakery over at Korea Plaza, with a cute setting and pretty good breads. The decor is more modern and the area was clean. The service was pretty good too.
I liked their red bean bun and donut twists. Actually, anything with red bean was very good, including their red bean donut. However, there is so much variety, with something for everyone.Listed in: Bakeries

I love Korean bread. Actually, I love all breads, but Korean bread always the best. Why? Cuz they experiment with ingredients that I love, such as sweet potato. Try their sweet potato twisted bread. It has this sweet potato mousse that just melts. I also tried their raisin bread, which was something I wish I could make at home because it's a bread I could see myself eating everyday.
Paht bing soo (shaved ice) was decent.. but eating it along with the cream puff type breads... that was amazing. For real. -

I LOVE korean pastries, they're not too sweet and not bland at all. This place hits the "sweets" spot in all the right places, from pastries to small bites and cakes. I've ordered basically every kind of bread and although some aren't to my liking, the quality of the baked goods never fails. Perfect location in the Koreatown Plaza too.
Recommendations:
-Mochi Bread
-Chocolate Croissant
-Roti bun (both plain and Chocolate)
-Mixed fruits chiffon cake
-Peanut butter cream roll
If you're lucky, they have either samples of some pastries, or they have a piping fresh batch of breads waiting to be placed into the bread cases. Either way, they're always baking something so try anything! -
Review from Cheryl B.
I love baked goods. I love breads, tarts, cakes, whatever. While not everything here is amazing, I have found more great stuff than bad.
I know. It's just a bakery, but I LOVE their donuts. I'm in big like with their butter cream bread thingies. Adore the mini egg tarts, too.
There has been a few meh sort of items. I might blame it on the excessive use of corn and/or lack of tons of butter. I usually get a favorite item with an experimental item so that I can end with a good note.
That's good planning right there.
Current favorite is the tapioca donut. Not really anything special, but my mouth is drawn to it.Listed in: Welcome to Koreatown Los…

Tried this place on a whim after exploring all the different shops that the Koreatown Plaza had to offer.
We got the pizza baguette, potato baguette, and the cream cheese donut. For about $6, it was a good deal. They were surprisingly not super warm as I would have hoped but they were still good. It was something different, so I appreciate that.
I also appreciate them playing Big Bang's new album "Alive" and getting to embarrass Amy by recreating the "Bad Boy" MV as she picked out the things for us to eat. I'm a horrible person and should feel bad. Oh well. -

they have quite a variety of cakes and breads.. ive only tried their bread (http://www.yelp.com/wr...) and this is what i think
- chocolate cream cone $1.50. definitely wouldnt get this again. i couldnt taste any hint of chocolate at all and the texture of their cream is soo buttery and doesnt taste like cream bread at all.. they should have named is "butter filled cone".. it was $1.50 and for the same amount, i could get a cream cone at cake house that taste hundred times better.
- custard $1.50. their custard is average, nothing special. but $1.50 for a custard when it was only $1-$1.10 somewhere else... so overpriced
- cream bread $1.50. it wasnt that memorable so i forgot how it taste.. yes thats how unmemorable their breads are..
i think i rather go to cake house to get my korean goodies rather than coming here.. some of their breads are more expensive than other bakeries, but doesnt mean it taste better.
Credit card is $10 or over.

I've been working in Koreatown for 3 years, and have taken my lunch break just about everywhere in the vicinity. This is, by far one of my favorite places!
Not only do they have great sweet and savory pastries, their coffee and iced drinks are phenomenal as well. I usually get a mocha frappe, and in my opinion, it's the best in the area; not overly sweet and not too bland. A guy named John is usually at the coffee counter during lunch, and he knows my order before I even get to the front of the line.
Their prices are definitely a bargain for the quality of service that you get. It's a great one-stop-shop for a lunch pastry and caffeine pick-me-up. I suggest trying the french toast pastry... love it. Check it out next time you're in K-town. I think you'll be glad you did. -

Please note that although I've purchased, I have not personally tried their food - review is based on aesthetics & service!
When I first visited, I was immediately reminded of 85C. Bosco is like the korean version (minus yelling fresh bread). They have many unique breads that you can pick out yourself, cakes that you can purchase without ordering and drinks.
They also have these cute little dessert shooters (which I got yelled at for taking a picture, REALLY? -__-).
The prices are comparable to 85 as well. I bought a christmas tiramisu cake for my boyfriend's parents. The decoration was adorable! I wish I took a picture (but I was too scared to from my last visit -__-). The dessert shooters were $2 each and the cake was $28 or something. No tax!
The workers are pretty friendly for the most part.
I'm definitely going to try some bread/cake for myself next time! -

LOVE Bosco's mixed berry cake!
My mom introduced me to this place - she said it's her new favorite Korean bakery, so decided to tag along with her during my winter break back home.
She's not a fan of sweets, but I was curious to try the mixed berry cake she was raving about. She didn't hesitate to buy a whole large cake, and to my surprise, it was moist and delicious!
I've also tried their variety of breads, roll cakes and pastries, and none disappointed. I'll definitely return to Bosco! :) -
Review from Sharon L.
I actually considered lowering Paris Baguette's rating because it just didn't compare to Bosco. This is THEE Korean equivalent to 85c.
Not only are their savory pastries delicious, I loved each and every sweet pastry I tried -- and I don't have a sweet tooth. All of the pastries are not overly sweet, unique (potato bread with slices of artificial crab? yum), and fresh. I loved their use of mochi flour in some of their items. Mochi cream cheese roll? GET IT. Anything that says green bean, GET IT. Korean doughnut with red bean? GET IT. Most items range from $1-2, although the ones that cost a little more are well worth it.
And after a bunch of dismal patbingsoo experiences around town... the fruit bingsoo at this place pretty much rocked my socks off (attributed to the very generously poured condensed milk).
My cappuccino was alright... could use a thicker foam. But it kept me company while I used the free wi-fi (available in the whole building). Located in Koreatown Plaza on the 1st floor.Listed in: Kimchi & More, Sweet(ish) Tooth, Hide these from me! - LA…

Wow, I bought 10 different pastries from the glass (more like plastic) cases... and I loved almost half of them! (the other half, I KNEW wouldnt be good just by the looks of them but I didnt want to judge a pastry by it's appearance. You'll know which ones look yummy) There's a lot of choices! @.@
Better tasting pastries than Manmidang.
I may even say better quality than Porto's! : O
Go when they open (8 or 9am?) and the goodies are warm! -
Review from Dean N.
I had lunch with my friend today and I was suggested that he try some of the Korean bakeries in K-town since he works there. I described that the Korean style cakes were a bit dry and not that sweet compared to traditional cakes My friend is originally from Michigan with an "All-American" background, and looked at me with a puzzled look and asked why I would recommend trying a place like that and I just shrugged my shoulders saying, "Cuz you're there?"
Bosco Bakery Cafe is a cute little bakery that serves pastries, rolls and other bakery treats. As mentioned above, the cakes are a bit dry and not as sweet as traditional cakes. Obviously, this is a difference in cultural taste.
I did find it odd, that I asked the server about the sweet potato cake and he couldn't recommend it as he has never tried it before. Weird......... -

I've been a big fan of Bosco's cakes for years! So I was thrilled when they opened a big cafe-style bakery inside the Koreatown Plaza, as it made it so much more convenient! Seriously...free parking (or free with validation at least) anywhere in LA? I will take it!!!
They have a big bakery where you can pick & choose yummy pastries and I honestly thought all I tried there were GOOD! They also package them nicely in a box or you can individually wrap them in a plastic sleeve.
They also have a togo-style cafe, which is nice because you can easily pick up drinks while heading out or shopping OR you can sit in their comfty chairs and chat with a pastry in your hand. I especially liked their peach iced tea, even though it was SUPER sweet.
As for the cakes, I can't say enough. I don't know what makes them stand out, but I just really like Bosco cakes. -

I bought a bunch of bread from here the other day and liked most of them. They're not too sweet but perfect. I absolutely love the cream cheese filled mochi bun but it could use less filling. I'd be a permanent customer if I live here!

Very good Korean bakery. Always stop by when I'm in the Plaza. I love the Volcano Bread--the cream is so tasty.
That being said, sometimes there are flies in the bread cases and as with most places in K town, the workers are uncomfortable with non-Korean speakers. -

The classic American donut shop better step up their game, because if this bakery opens up easily accessible corner shops on the street, they will destroy your winchels, kremes, mom 'n' pops, whatever...
All of their donut foods are my favorites. Cream cheese filled mochi donut is a must. They're super fluffy and chewy and dusted with something a little herby or cheesy tasting... not sure. But it's just the right salty taste to go with their sweet cream cheese.
Anything that looks overpriced... there's a reason. I finally broke down and bought a little sweet egg souffle thing maybe twice the size of my thumb for two dollars. So good though! I think these prices are reasonable considering the time and effort they put in to make these delicate cakes. -

Anyone who knows me well knows I absolutely adore pastries. This bakery is just sooo good. There's this pastry that is shaped like a slightly open flower and is filled with large dollops of delicious cream that is to die for. I can eat the whole thing by myself in one sitting, maybe two, but I'm afraid I'll get a heart attack.
Their cakes also look so pretty and the price is comparable to Tous Les Jous. I haven't tried them yet but will definitely buy one when a birthday comes up. -
Review from Yi Z.
It was my friend's birthday and I was in a huge rush to get a cake. Even though I arrived at Bosco just 30 minutes before closing, there was a good selection of premade cakes available. Being Asian, I chose the pink Hello Kitty cake, of course. I thought the cake tasted ok but it sure looked cute.
I also picked up some sort of cream cheese bread for myself but it was really disappointing. I had to throw away half of it. The price is pretty standard for Ktown bakeries (which means everything is just about 20% overpriced).
Anyway, I'm just happy to have found a cake in time for the celebration. -
Review from Rick K.
In a city nearly dominated by the likes of Paris Baguette, Mammoth Bakery, or Porto's, it is refreshing to see a new giant make a case for supremacy. Though their location may not be as convenient as your nearby mom and pop's baker, Bosco's more than makes up for it with amazingly fresh and well finished goods. They have a plethora of Asian and Western style breads, cookies, and cakes. Their cakes aren't their best sellers, but that doesn't matter because most people come here for their breads.
I personally wish they served more rustic breads, like the ones you'd find in a French bakery. However, realistically speaking, strictly on a business level, that would not be a good seller as Asians typically do not understand the importance of a good sourdough or baguette. Nevertheless, this is hit. Two thumbs up! -

A new bakery and cafe located @ Korea Plaza. What happened to Olive? Not sure but I was never a fan of Olive bakery. The worker said that it was opened in March.
The place was so cute, it reminded me of my Re-Ment collection. My yelp assistant said it smelled like bakeries in Asia. A very clean place with very friendly service. I took pictures left and right and nobody stopped me. The owner saw me doing that but she didn't yell at me so that's a good start.
So many breads, cakes and cookies..even ice candies. I got hot dog, donut twist with sweet potato crumbs, green tea cake and cream bread. They were all freshly baked. How did I know? I could see the kitchen. A worker brought out some mochi bread something and he announced it to the other workers..the other workers acknowledged and answered. Just like Japanese restaurants where the workers communicate very well with each other. I was very impressed.
Everyone was busy working there. I didn't see any worker just chit chatting and doing nothing. One worker was wiping the display case, another one brought out freshly baked goods, two cashiers helping the customers, and the others were busy in the kitchen.
I guess this bakery had a very fast turnover. A lot of shelves were empty and they were trying to bake more stuff. Glad I found another place to find ice candy. Minimum $10 for credit card. Too bad no wi-fi here =(
4 stars!! I am a fan and I will be back to try its sweet potato cake & pie.

My fave from this place is their COFFEE BREAD. I heard great things about their fruit cakes so I bought one for my dad's birthday. I was really disappointed! The cake was SUPER dry. I'll just stick with their breads.

Looove their sweet garlic bread. $1 for sticks, $4 for the square bread.
Their tarts are pretty okay too, except they're $4 each. Rather pricey.
I'm sad that their croque monsieur became smaller and doesn't look as nice, since it's a pretty cheap sandwich.
I wish that some of their pastries were a tad sweeter, but that's probably because I have a sweet tooth. Can't wait to try everything else out! -
Review from Katie M.
I visited this bakery for the first time yesterday, and all I can say is YUM!!
Missing Asia, it was nostalgic to come in and see the 'tray and tong' system, where you pick up a tray and tongs at the entrance, and pick and choose what you want as you go through the bakery's vast assortment of treats. I got some citrus bread, curry bread, a red bean doughnut, and a stick of garlic bread.
The citrus bread was delicious!! It was filled with just the right amount of white bean paste, had a delicious orange glaze on it, and was finished with black sesame seeds. SO GOOD.
The curry bread? Good, but not the best. I prefer the Japanese style of curry-pan, which is fried [I know, my arteries!], whereas the baked [no-fry] style of this bakery's curry bread may have been healthier, but lacked a little in flavour as a result. Still yummy, though.
The red bean doughnut [an-donatsu] was delicious, but a little sweet. It had a lot of breading and not much red bean inside, so I felt a little cheated.
The garlic bread would have been more delicious if it hadn't picked up some of the sugar off the red bean doughnut in the box!
All in all, the price was reasonable for what I purchased, and there were some delicious-looking savoury treats that I will definitely be picking up next time I visit! -

Buttery goodness wrapped around melted cheese and sweet delicious pieces of onions.
First "Wow".
Strawberry Fruit Pastry
Delicious glazed croissant-like bread with mouth wateringly ripened strawberries over whipped cream and yellow cream.
Second "Wow".
I am eating the Salad Bread as I write this.
Im not sure what goes inside this. But it has compelled me to write this awesome review.
Third "Wow". And this one will stay with me for another week until I need to be reminded of the "Wow" that is BOSCO.
Oh Ehm Gee, I'm gonna finish my Salad Bread now. -

We LOVE Korean style bakeries. The Korean pastry tends to be less sweet as compared to American ones...which is fine by us!
The large assortment of breads, buns and donuts all look delicious! We have yet to try them all...
They also have a coffee nook on the side of the bakery, which we have yet to try too, but we can vouch for their soboro buns and sweet rice donuts! They also have various flavors of cake (sold by the slice and whole cake)! This place is great!
And there's free wi-fi throughout the whole plaza...bonus! ^_^ -

I must have looked like a little kid in a candy store walking up and down the rows of glass cases with my little tray and tongs. I gazed longingly at the delicious pastries that sat on the other side. I finally decided that Mammoth pastry, a buttery bread filled cream and strawberry preserves. As the name suggests, it was large!! The thing seriously larger than my face... For only $3 :) It had a really nice sweet (but not too sweet) crunchiness on the outside. Mind you, their pastries are less sweet than what you would find in an American bakery. Most Koreans don't like really sweet stuff. They have breads, pastries, sweet and savory items, and a cafe. Their seating area is nice and roomy with plenty of tables to enjoy a pastry and some coffee. It is on the first floor of K-Town Plaza Mall. They offer free parking in the garage with purchase, too. Give it a try! Note: They accept credit cards on purchases over $10.

Review from Diana L.
Wow, what a pleasant surprise to stumble upon this large bakery in the middle of the mall. I am such a carbowhore, no joke, I could not contain my excitement. Beautiful BEAUTIFUL little chocolate mousse cups, artistically crafted cakes with the signature Asian look and flavor, lots of pastries, loaves of bread, and sweet buns. Oh my gosh, it smelled like heaven. I ended up getting a whole tray of sweet baked goods. I've eaten about half of them, and they've all been tasty and soft. The only concern I have is that they leave a lot of the bread uncovered... what if a bug lands on the bread??
They have a separate coffee counter and a cozy sitting area that is reminiscent of a living room. There were quite a few old Korean ladies hanging out there. The best part of this bakery is that you can have full view of the kitchen! The pastry chef was decarating cakes and there were at least half a dozen bakers running around and kneading dough on stainless steel tables. Cooooool. -

This is one of the best Korean bakeries I've come across. Everything is freshly baked, even on a weekday afternoon. As someone else mentioned, you can watch the workers shaping the dough & baking the bread. I have to say the main reason I love this place are the roti buns. Only the 2nd place I've come across with them & this place is wayyyy better!!
The only problem is that they aren't very efficient. It take quite awhile to pay and get wrapped up. Minor complaint for what you get!
