Review from Tim M.
West Los Angeles, CA
Old school Italian place. Would give 3.5 stars, but the tray with four different types of salad dressing pushes it to 4. Kind of an older crowd, but I ate in the bar which was lively

Cool bar, nice ambiance, nice décor and good service. The portions are GREAT but the taste just wasn't all that good. The salad dressing thing was cool. They bring out a tray that had four different types of dressings which I liked a lot. If you eat a lot of Italian and like good Italian I wouldn't go here. Oh and the bread sticks were weird they came out hard, not stale but hard! I would call them bread stick crackers. The two stars are only because the flavor of the food to me wasn't good at all everything else was fine.

This is a locals' favorite and the food is decent and the portions are big. Great for groups and prom night apparently as I noticed a number of teens in winter ball dresses when I came here in Dec. 2010.
Ambiance is like an upscale country restaurant. Service was attentive and friendly. They offered me a taste of their unique brown spaghetti sauce. A local tried to tell me it was a family recipe from Northern Italy. Honestly, I've been to Florence and Bologna and I've never had anything like this. But hey... so you take some Northern Italy and give it an American/ local spin. That's great! The sauce was meaty and sweet. This is NOT a tangy sauce.
The portions are gi-nor-mous. I had enough pasta for the next day's lunch AND dinner. The salad with cranberries, goat cheese and nuts had a ridiculous amount of the latter items compared to the greens. It was a little imbalanced since I had a good 3 or 4 tablespoons of toppings after all my greens were gone.
Borrie's is a family institution that you should experience if you're in Great Falls. It may not be the prettiest or tastiest restaurant you've ever been to, but if this is where the locals come, then you should come too. -

Love this place! Been going here since before i could walk. Get the half and half dinner with fried ravioli.

Yummy! This place has been in business and owned by the same family since 1938. The atmosphere is casual with just a hint of upscale. The artwork and photographs around the restaurant are very nice, especially the western pieces behind the bar.
The food is very good, albeit, quite unique. Do not go expecting traditional Italian. Get the minestrone soup and the ravioli (I would skip the spaghetti/pasta as you should save room for the good stuff) with their special brown sauce, which is some sort of a northern Italian sauce with a taste of Montana. It is very wholesome, there's nothing else like it.
We were there on a Tuesday and my husband had prime rib special, which was HUGE and oh so good. My mom liked her steamed shrimp dinner with baked potato. Good to know there are some decent healthy options on the menu. Their bread sticks are not like those at the olive garden but we liked them.
The service was good. It seems like a lot of the staff have been working there for many years. Be sure to bring your appetite or be prepared to take a to-go box with leftovers, the portions are really large. Good prices for what you get. -

We don't get it. People go crazy for this, and we're still left scratching our heads wondering about the yucky brown sauce. If we wanted spaghetios we would have stayed home and cracked open a can. Ughh. The stale breadsticks did not help matters...nor did the fried chicken they served along-side the spaghetti. Takes all sorts.

Go for the toasted raviolis, stay for the fried chicken and spaghetti. We're not talking authentic Italian spaghetti- but these noodles have a sauce that is comforting as all get out. As far as I'm concerned, this is one of the two best restaurants in Great Falls.

Best minestrone in the United States without exception. The half and half is also exceptional.

Like Eddies, Borries is an institution in Great Falls. Unfortunately, unlike Eddies, Borries' service leaves quite a bit to be desired and the atmosphere is a little tired. I have eaten here close to 25 times and the raviollis are always worth ordering. However, the times I have ordered spaghetti I have been very disappointed with the noodles. I am not much of a steak eater but the steaks are quite good. Overall, I would check it out just for the raviollis.
