This review is long overdue. Rob took care of our English Bulldog, Winston, for over 18 months. Due to moving in and out of San Francisco Winston has had 4 or 5 walking groups, and Rob was definitely his favorite. One can easily tell who is a dog person and who is just there for a paycheck, Born to Run is definitely passionate about their dogs.
Living in SoMa/South Beach area, Rob would come by about 10-1030am and drop off around 1230pm. English Bulldogs can be stubborn, if they do not want to go out, they will not. Everytime Winston heard the door open he was jolting down the stairs to go off for his adventures. This was not the case with a few of the other dog walkers we had previously.
Unfortunately we left Rob's service due to a very good personal friend opening a doggy daycare in the area. Winston was disappointed, as if anything changes we will definitely be back to Rob. -

I have a very energetic Siberian Husky pup. But, after a day with Robert, Rex is always pooped. After about the first week, I also noticed Rex's recall was SO much better than what I was able to teach him.
I highly recommend Born to Run to any busy SF dog owner. I especially would recommend him to someone with a puppy. Robert takes the dogs out in small packs, 6-8 dogs. Your pup will learn social skills and pack hierarchy. -

Wow! What an amazing service and so much less expensive than just a plain, old dog walker.
For $88 a week, Robert picks up Otis and takes him on some kind of adventure every day. Otis loves it, and I'm starting to get a little jealous that Otis has a more interesting day than I do.
When my husband was home from work sick for a week, he said that each day Robert picked up Otis between noon and 1:00 and dropped him off between 4:00 and 5:00.
Otis gets a few hours of socialization and fun, and I get peace of mind knowing that my dog isn't sitting home waiting for me.
Born to Run SF is the best! -

Robert is truly the best at what he does. He's been walking our puppy, Bubba, since last summer and has helped him grow into such a well behaved 11 month old. I have no doubts that Bubba has learned so much from his daily adventures - more than I could have ever taught him myself in such a short time.
Robert loves animals and cares a great deal for them. He sends us pictures of Bubba as well as keeps us informed of how he's doing with the other dogs or any other concerns he may have.
Most importantly is that we have a great deal of trust in Robert. Our little baby gets picked up and dropped off everyday when we are not home. Its very reassuring to know that Bubba is safe and having the time of his life during the day when we can't be there for him. Robert's walks burn off the perfect amount of Bubba's energy. I can't imagine how his behavior would be if he didn't have his daily outings.
I highly recommend Robert and can't say enough positive things about him. And of course it's clear that Bubba loves him, too. -

I started to use Robert's service for my dog Emma. It's been a month so far and Emma loves it! I receive frequent updates of how she's doing and it's awesome that Robert takes the time to take AMAZING pictures of the pack. As soon as Emma hears the door opening she's right there, happy to leave for a couple of hours, she leaves without hesitation. She comes home exhausted. A tired dog, is a happy dog. I highly recommend Robert, great guy and awesome service.

I first met Robert at Stern Grove about a year ago when I had the pleasure of being on sabbatical and had the chance to take my dog, Owen, on morning and afternoon walks. I got to see Robert firsthand with his morning pack, and you could tell how much his dogs loved him. And of course, my Owen and Robert created a special bond. Needless to say, when I ended my sabbatical, Robert was the first one I contacted about taking Owen out on play dates.
Robert is extremely responsible and you can tell how much he cares about his packs. He is extremely reliable and I never worry about Owen having a good time with him. There have been a few times when I have been home when Robert has come by to get Owen and Owen cannot get out of the house fast enough!
So...my review is five stars and I am sure that Owen gives him five paws! -

Robert at Born to Run SF is just awesome! We started looking for a dog walker in 2009 since both my husband and I felt so guilty leaving Spencer (our dog) alone for 8 hours a day. After looking through the internet we found Robert, who sounded like the best fit. Robert came over to talk about his services and to meet Spencer. We haven't regretted a day since then. Spencer gets walked once a day for a good 2+ hours. They go to places like the Stern Grove, Fort Funston and Spencer has a ball of a time and is a happy and a tired puppy when he gets back.
In addition, when we have gone out of town Robert has been kind enough to watch Spencer on a short notice.
Overall, we are extremely happy and its been a huge relief having someone as competent and compassionate as Robert caring for our dog. Robert is the best! -

Our dog Finley goes out with Diane and the pack every morning and she absolutely loves it! I have been home a couple of times when Diane comes to pick Finley up and her excitement is the best indication of how much she loves it... and Diane clearly loves Finley too.
She has a lot of energy- even for a puppy- and loves to be with other dogs so going out with Diane everyday makes her very happy (and makes us happy puppy parents!). We haev also had Patrick stay at our house with Finley and it is always a positive experience. Much better than sending her to a kennel. -

Born to Run SF is an awesome service! They are on time and very professional. It's nice to know that my dog is going out and having an amazing day in the sun. They change locations almost every day and they pair your dog with other dogs they get along with. Both Robert and Diane work with your dog if they need a little extra attention. I especially love getting photos of my dog so I can see what a great time he's having. They also assign one person to pick up your dog, so you dog gets to know one person and builds a trusting relationship. The service I used before Born to Run, sent 6 different people at different times to my place to get my dog and your dog can't help but get scared of so many intruders, especially when you are not home. Born to Run is consistent in the way they do things. I highly recommend them!

I have a really oversized, annoying, ornery labradoodle who has an endless amount of energy. He can play at daycare for 8 hours straight, go for a quick run and pit stop by the park, and still swing his stuffed fox around in the apartment in hopes that I'll throw it for him until my arm falls off.
My dog should be an energy drink, basically. Monster? Rockstar? 5-hour energy? Pshh. Y'all ain't got nothing on this creep.
With Robert/BTRSF, my dog's energy seems to waver and wane by the time I get home from work. He will happily take a snooze on the couch while I catch up on re-runs of Two and a Half Men and Seinfeld, and when I take him out for a walk to the park, he's not bouncing everywhere going insane and choking himself on the leash (you'd think dogs learn).
Unlike my last dog-walker, who decided the day of that she wasn't available to take my dog out, Robert is reliable, and my dog has a great time with him and the pack. His recall is getting better, and although he's still like "the kid who doesn't get it" when it comes to playing with other dogs (he got his ass handed back to him yesterday at the dog park.. by a Chihuahua the size of his head), he's definitely a lot better at playing with others.
Now we just need to work on the "sharing is caring" thing. -

Even though I love her to death, Sasha is a 7 year old family dog with 7 years of bad habits to break and her own pocket full of issues. I took her in 7 months ago 'cause my parents just couldn't handle her anymore. Spoiled rotten, she had the run of their house and barked at everything. She was scooped up every time she passed by a big dog and never socialized. Not to mention, she had major separation anxiety and super low self esteem. Long story short she was a nervous wreck. I couldn't walk her without her freaking out at every little thing. She would cower and flight from a little dog smaller than her that was 10 feet away. Took her to doggy day care to try to socialize her... failed. Even they kicked her out.
Needless to say, she needed to learn how to be a healthy happy dog again and I couldn't have done it without Robert. I know Sasha's not the easy happy-go-lucky client, but with Robert's patience, I know she's in good hands. Robert is always on time and never misses a day rain or shine. And when he comes by to pick up Sasha his calm and positive energy even makes me wanna jump in the truck and join his pack.
It's been over three months with Robert now. Sasha went from backing away from the truck to running head-on in full body wag to greet her pack. I can take her to off-leash dog parks and she recalls on command now and is exploring the world with her head held high and sniffing butts (although still picky about which ones). She's calm, quiet and joy at home and relaxed & focused when I take her out. She even waits quietly in her crate when I'm out of the house. It's been wonderful.
Sasha's a happy dog and I'm a happy owner.
Robert's special. He's got a gift for working with dogs. -

Murphy and Olive (black pugs in the picture) have been going on adventures with Robert for almost two months now. They are so happy, as are we! It's nice to know they get to explore and run along different beaches and in different parks all over the city. Before we had a baby, I would regularly take the pugs during the week to lots of different enclosed dog areas and to Crissy Field and Stern Grove. I always felt sorry for the owners of the dogs I saw with their dog walkers. They had no idea that their dog was just standing around while the walker was socializing. With Robert, I know my pugs are going to get some fresh air and exercise. I really like that he doesn't go to the same place each time. He likes to mix it up for the dogs and for himself.
I love hearing where they go and who their buddies are and seeing the photos of our happy pugs. -

I've been using Born to Run for several months and he is super. Our dog is very active and plays hard, so it was important for us to use someone who didn't just sit around at a dog run, which Robert does not.
Robert is very easy going and calm, and is out with my dog for well over the time minimum most days (I work from home, so I'm often here when my dog gets picked up). He is also really accomodating and has shuffled his schedule around for me in "emergencies."
Unlike other dog walkers I've used, Robert is both a dog person AND a business person, which means he does not make scheduling errors. I had a pervious walker scare the bejezzus out of me when he walked into my house while I was in the shower, b/c he came on the wrong day. Another walker left town and "forgot" to tell me she wouldn't be picking my dog up that day. Lucky I was home.
Dog walkers are hard to find. I would know. I've used several and have interviewed several more. Hopefully Born to Run will stick around for a long, long time! -

We have a perfect pit mix named Lucy.
Perfect, that is, to all humans, but somewhat bitchy to other dogs.
We searched for a long time to find someone who was patient enough to handle Lucy, and smart enough with dogs to keep everyone out of trouble.
Robert really fit the bill. He's conscientious, smart, consistent, and safe, in addition (of course) to being fun, energetic and loving to our sweet Lucy, as well as all his other dogs. At Christmas, he even gave us a picture of Lucy on the beach (which is framed on our mantle). Now that's love! I recently had a child, and during maternity leave, I'd see him drive up with a bunch of happy pooches. Lucy would go wild with excitement!
We are always able to trust that Robert is savvy enough to handle Lucy not just with her pack buddies, but with other meddlesome dogs. He has been great with her. She always comes back tired, calm and happy.
I would recommend him strongly to anyone! -

My dog Gordo has been going with Robert for a little over a month now and I can just see the difference! Gordo is a chihuahua mix and tends to have the little man syndrome. So I hired Robert in hopes that Gordo will be more social with other dogs and be less aggressive.
Robert was great! Gordo unfortunately bit him on the first day and he took it well. I was sure he would drop us as clients but I really love how he just came up with options to get Gordo more familiar with him. Since then Gordo is more easy going with dogs and seems to want to play with them more as they pass versus wanting to tear off their heads. hahahha
I am really excited Robert is in our lives and his rates are really good! -

I'll keep it brief. Robert is absolutely outstanding. Not only he takes care of the safety, well-being, and good old entertainment of the dogs, he's also very responsive and accommodating. We had one incident when the front door to our apartment was broken and Robert couldn't get in--he waited several minutes, went through a number of phone calls, and followed extremely vague instructions to locate a spare key in order to make sure he could get to our puppy (who'd have been left inside all day otherwise, since both my girlfriend and I work out of town). Can't recommend him enough!

Robert is the best. He has never missed a scheduled day, rain or shine.
I joke to my friends that Amber has been to more places in the City than I have.
Before having Amber walked every day, I would come home and she would demand immediate attention. After getting walked by Robert, she is exhausted. She has become a better companion since being with Robert. -

Pablo hearts Robert.
Our dog, the crazy and wild Olde English bulldog named Pablo has been SO much happier since he started at Born to Run. Born to Run is owned by Robert Jaeger, who takes doggies to all sorts of different parks around the city. Pablo has been to Crissy Fields and Fort Funston over the past couple weeks.
Robert will basically come over to your place, check out your dog to make sure they have good temperament and that the dog is okay with him being in your house and then you never see him again. :) He leaves little notes called "Todays Walk" that tell you where he took your pup and how they did, which is so great. I love getting those! And his prices are very reasonable. - especially for SF. Oh, and he sends you pictures of your doggie having a blast.
Thank you Robert. -

It's an understatment when I say my dog Tank is my life. I am a overprotective, concernced mother. I work really long hours and robert has been so flexible to fit him in to the time of day I need him to be taken out. Tank comes home happy and exhausted and I don't have to worry about him while I'm at work. Thank you robert for taking care of my Tank like he is your own..Robert is the best!

Robert is an amazing animal companion. My dog sits by the window each morning eagerly awaiting Robert's arrival. After an excursion with Robert, my dog is happy, relaxed, and fully exercised. My dog is in better shape since joining Robert's play groups. Robert is punctual, flexible, and reliable. I can not say enough good things about his services. Born to Run is definitely worth the investment.

This guy is great! He's friendly and patient as far as client services go and he really cares about each dog in his group. My boxer dog, Celie, can't wait until he comes every day. She's an active dog and requires (at least) two long walks a day and I'm not sure what I would do without Robert in the afternoons. I really lucked out finding him and you will too!

We really like Robert. Most importantly, our pooch Roscoe REALLY loves Robert. Sometimes I think more than he likes us : ) It is a great comfort to know that he feels so comfortable with someone outside his 'family' and that it makes him such a happy dog.
Robert has very reasonable prices and is very flexible to work with. Pretty much as good as it gets. -

We're going on 2 years now with Robert/ Born To Run, and he's always prompt, flexible and uber-reliable, rain or shine. And our pup Harlow *clearly* so loves going out with him, always eager and excited, tail a-waggin' furiously, to meet him at the door (I've observed on the days when I work from home). We're lucky to have Robert...

We are so lucky to have found Robert!! Our dog suffers from separation anxiety, so having someone be with him while we are at work and tiring him out are two very important tasks for us. Robert was so great at coming up with solutions for how he could accommodate our schedules and make life better for our dog Jack. He truly cares about the dogs and is so flexible and easy going. I know that Jack is in good hands with Robert and I never worry about a thing when they are out together. We are VERY lucky to have him for a dog walker. I can't recommend him enough!!

I am so glad that we found Born to Run. We have a small dog with a lot of energy who benefits immensely from her play time with Robert and the rest of the "pack." We love knowing that she's getting her time to really be a dog, even if it means that she occasionally tracks home sand from their trips to the beach. Robert is great, prices are reasonable and we have a happy, tired dog at the end of the day. It's hard to beat.

somehow my 5 year old german shepherd and i really lucked out on finding born to run. robert is awesome! he is professional, trust-worthy, completely reliable and just a really nice guy. initially, i was working in an office when beastie, my GSD, first entered his playgroup. after a few months, though, i started working at home and like clock-work, robert would show up at almost the exact same time two days a week and was out with my dog for at least 2 hours and sometimes close to 3. beastie would always come back happy and excited, slurp down some water and then nap for a while. he had obviously had a good time, but was also tired out. i would recommend robert to anyone...he's a gem!
