Susie made a ton of little apple pies for our wedding this weekend, and they were a smashing success! People couldn't believe their luck when instead of wedding cake, her beautiful pies were put out for everyone to enjoy.
Her delivery was perfect and so easy for us. Her quality control is unreal - they all looked and tasted amazing. And her prices are fantastic.
I bake a lot, and love to bake pie, so I'm a little picky about pastry, and I love Susie's pies. The crust is perfect, and the whole thing isn't overly sweet or in the least bit syrupy. They taste like beautiful fruit and butter, like a good pie should. I'm so glad I found her! -

Susie made the pies for my wedding last weekend and they were a huge success. We had apple, peach and an amazing nectarine blueberry with a crumble crust (served with salted caramel ice cream from Bi-Rite and vanilla from Mitchell's). She was so easy to work with, had great suggestions, replied to my emails right away and was less expensive than most of the other larger bakeries.
She delivered the pies right on time to my apartment the morning of the event, piping hot, and then my bridesmaids and I had an hour ride to the venue with the delicious smell of warm pie filling the car. They even tasted amazing the next day when I finally got to try them! -

The mixed berry pie is to-die-for. I don't even care for berry pie but I finished my entire piece and asked for another one.
Besides the pie being phenomenal, the delivery service was super convenient.
I will definitely order from them whenever I need the best berry pie on the planet! -

Susie makes the best pies. Her crust is flaky. You can taste the freshness and quality in all her ingredients. The apples are piled high in her apple pies; her bananas are fresh and the cream is just the right amount of luscious goodness in her banana cream pies; her buttermilk is smooth and delicious. The price can't be beat. Every time I serve her pies, everyone asks where I got them from. Seriously, the best pies around..

Okay I'm coming out of my Yelp lurker status just to write this wonderful lady and her pies a review. So my bf is a transplant from Hawaii who grew up on Anna Miller's strawberry pies (his favorite) and is generally more of a pie than a cake person, so I decided to order two of Susie's Strawberry Dream Pies instead of a traditional birthday cake for this birthday dinner this past weekend.
She has pictures on her website of her pies (which already look great), but I asked her to give the pies an additional bit of flair with a whipped cream border and birthday writing as these were to be "birthday pies". Not only was she so willing to accommodate my requests, but I felt she was so genuinely helpful throughout the whole process. As I'm not from the area, she gave me warnings about the construction around the restaurant we'd be at and she worked around the changed delivery time when the restaurant pushed our reservation back.
On the day of delivery, Susie arrived on time (right on the dot), and even though our party of 12 complained about being absolutely stuffed from dinner, when those pies came out we had no trouble making room for them (we practically inhaled them). The pies had TONS of fresh strawberries (you can really taste the freshness) and the Bavarian cream was so light and not too sweet (we're accustomed to the Asian cakes where the frosting is usually not as sugary sweet as American cakes), and OMG the crust was seriously flakey/crispy awesome delishkusness.
Needless to say the bf has a new favorite! And everyone asked where I got the pies from and I got bonus ninja points because Susie was able to deliver directly to the restaurant. Sweet! :D -

I've never had pie from Born & Bread before, and I decided a couple pies for a birthday instead of cake would be a nice twist. After I ordered the pies, my friends started telling me they didn't really like pie, and people were on diets, etc. etc.
I started getting a little worried but my fears subsided when they were delivered (right on time, at 7 a.m.) OOH they smelled so good! And they were still warm! I became giddy with excitement. I could not wait til it was time for dessert. I snuck a piece in my mouth. Oh my Gaaa! Heaven never tasted so good!
And when the pies were finally served up, all the people who said they didn't like pie took back their words. "This is good, this is really good."
Damn straight. -

Susie rocks!! I ordered a Coconut Cream Pie last minute (24 hrs to be exact) for a birthday and she came through like a pro. She contacted me 30 mins prior to delivery to make sure I was available. The pie itself was fantastic! Everyone was very pleased and sad when there was no leftovers to be had. I will DEFINITELY contact her again. This time with more notice :)

Full disclosure first...I know Susie from before, when we were in high school. Now, that is out of the way, let's continue, because honestly, this has nothing to do with old ties because I never review things on Yelp, friend or not.
But pie. My god, I love pie. And through all my pie adventures, I really truly have never had pie as good as this. I ordered four pies: banana cream, apple, white peach, and a very sweetly-thought-of made-due-to-my allergies strawberry cream tart.
Banana cream is heaven. Honestly. And the white peach pie is awesomely divine. Both pies tower above their pie tins. The cream is fresh and thick and wonderful. The crust on the peach and apple pies was mmmmmm....buttery, with some nice texture from the turbinado sprinkled on top. Oh, and flaky, wow.
The strawberries in the tart were fresh and beautiful and tasty and the crust on that was wonderful as well.
And delivered to your door. Who doesn't like amazing, fresh and fresh-from-the oven pies brought to you?
It really is worth it. Again, these are the best pies I have ever had. And I have had a lot of pie. Can't wait for autumn to start so I can get some pumpkin pie! Mmmm... -

I ordered a banana cream pie for my mini college reunion dinner. when I mentioned "banana cream" and "chef susie", everybody was dying to try it. too bad we had to wait till dessert time but it was totally worth it. my friends loved it! now they can't wait to try the other flavors. I'm definitely going to be ordering more in the near future. the hard part is which flavor. is it too much to order all of them?? =)

Cupcakes from Born and Bread were served today at a birthday party for our son's friend and... all the adults ended up taking home a cupcake for themselves because they were so darn good! You know how sometimes the kids cakes are just too sweet (even for the kids)? Well, rest assured that these were moist chocolately and had just the right balance of flavor. Definitely calling on Born and Bread for the next gathering!

Yum. Pineapple upside down cake. Not too sweet, absolutely perfect. Can't wait for peach season so I can order a peach upside down cake. Got this cake for my v. picky husband for this birthday and he loved it.

This is, by far, the BEST pie I've ever had.
So far, I have tried the buttermilk pie, the white peach pie, and the banana creme pie. All of them were amazing. The buttermilk pie has the consistency of cheesecake and is soooooo rich and creamy. The peach pie was filled to the rim with fresh, sweet peaches, and the flaky crust was baked to perfection. The banana creme pie was a huge hit and featured full flavor bananas and a light airy creme. I have an order in for the Strawberry Dream pie. I can't wait !
The pies are handmade with fresh ingredients (no canned fruit here) and delivered right to my door. With our busy lives, this was definately a huge plus. -

Totally awesome cupcakes!!! Brought a couple of dozens to a potluck party and they DID NOT last long. My personal favorite is the Black Bottom cupcakes with its cream filling...yummy :) But you can't go wrong with any of the other cupcakes.
