The way I look at it, you can either pay:
*** $16.50 for an $8.00 haircut at SUPERCUTS - that looks clean for only 1 week.
or
*** $35.00 for a $100.00 haircut by Boris - that retains its style for at least 28 days.
I went to Boris the first time three years ago when I called up Floyd's 99 barbershop on Melrose and asked the receptionist if she had anyone from New York. She dropped Boris' name and right away I trusted his background knowledge for modern day-trendy looks. Familiar with all of the New York terminology I grew up with and without second guessing, he knew about the large variety of styles that I like to change up with every haircut: tape-up, blow-out, messy, fo-hawk, mo-hawk, slicked back mafioso, the list goes on...
I don't go to see Boris any day of the week, I like to save it for a Friday morning, when I got a: fine date, put on the fre$hest clothes and get my car washed at the Burbank Pit Stop.
He's an artist and I can bring him a picture of any kind of hairstyle to match, I usually pick a film, like Fight Club. He understands how styles fit your personalized head shape/hair patterns and works quickly without taking a second look at the photograph.
Boris is a cool cat with an old soul that's easy to talk to and has awesome taste in music that he provides for the entire shop. Not to mention that the guy hooks it up with the coolest, most professional neck/head massage at the end of the cut and shapes facial hair with his improvisational talent in 5 seconds.
Summing it up, after leaving Boris' shop, I feel like a G and girls stop me where ever I go to tell me that they love my haircut. Looking forward to many more years of $taying Fre$h. Boris, you are the Master Fader and you wear the badge well.

I've got only good things to say about Boris. Since moving, I've been looking for a place to get my hair cut consistently. I found Boris through Yelp, and tried to set up an appointment at the last minute. He was accommodating in that way.
The experience was great. Boris is a cool, intelligent, laid-back guy who strikes the right balance between being conversational and focusing on his work. You can tell he's someone who takes pride in being good at what he does. I usually hate the conversations I have with people who cut my hair, but I liked talking to him a lot. He's a smart dude.
The actual haircut was great. I'm completely satisfied, and only going to to go to him, despite the fact that I live an hour away. In addition to haircuts, he does a great job with beard trimming too. -

Awesome job! I came here last minute after I found out my usual barber was gone to who knows where and not coming back. Found reviews for Boris on yelp and gave him a shot.
I'm very particular about who cuts my hair and hate having to find new barbers. But, Boris did a great job and gave me a perfect, clean cut. Nice, easy-going guy who listens to exactly what you want. As a fellow New Yorker, it was good to have that east-coast connection, so I highly recommend him for fellow east coasters as well.
Will definitely be coming back! -

Wow. I am not one of those people who has had trouble finding a good barber in Los Angeles. That said, I never knew how could a barber could be until I found Boris. I'm so glad I wandered into his shop the other day.
Calling him the "master fader" is actually sort of an understatement. Boris is an absolute perfectionist, and works tirelessly to ensure you have a no-line fade and look super tight when you leave his chair.
I only hope that all of the other barbers who I love in LA don't read this and get mad, cause the truth is, as long as Boris's chair is available, I'm sorry guys, but I won't be comin' back! -

Found Boris by coincidence and I'm glad I did! My previous stylist was on vacation, drove to different salons around Los Angeles area and couldn't get a last minute appointment. As I was driving thru Melrose, I saw a Barber sign and decided to pull over and check out the place. Boris greeted me and told me he will be ready in half hour and handed me his card. It says, "the master of fader!" I came back within the time and I was impressed to the results. Came to work the next day and received many compliments to my new hair! I've been going to Boris since August of last year and have referred him to others at work. Boris is a gem in West Hollywood for truly Men's haircut. He is the best !

Boris fixed the chop job that the rookies at Bolt did to my hair. He was friendly, knowledgeable, and took his time to do a great job. I found a new barber!
Nice place, cool experienced folks, worth twice the price of Bolt.
Oh yeah: it's only one block away from Bolt too. Time to switch ! Boris is great. Appointments are ideal. -

Thats what I call it. Its so hard to find a decent barber out here but i just got lucky.
Boris, originally was cutting hair for over 10 years in the Big Apple and moved to LA a few years ago (thankfully for me)..
his cutting skills SUPERB!!!
I suggest calling to make an appointment as he tends to book up quickly. -

I lived in Hollywood since 07 and have never found a barber who is consistent with my cut. I just found him. I got Asian hair. Straight and short, my head is hard to cut. I went in and got a perfect cut from Boris. He took his time and made sure it was done perfect. Boris also is pretty cool to chat with. I been to Richie (terrible), Shorty's, Floyds and every other place in town. Boris hooked it up to even my wife was impressed.

Boris used to cut my hair when I lived in LA and he did great work!! He not only cut my hair really well, but he took appointments and was very reliable. I recommended him to other friends and would continue to do so. If I ever move back to LA, I know exactly where I am going to get my haircut. If you are looking for a great barber who is reliable (i.e. he honors appointments and is timely) choose Boris!!

Been going to Boris for over a year now, he has yet to disappoint me. I go every 2 weeks or so and he keeps me looking fresh. Hes very talented and capable of cutting your hair in any way you can throw at him. Aside from being very talented hes also a stand up dude, he even throws on my favorite music while I'm getting my hair cut every time. Its always a pleasure I cant think of getting my hair cut anywhere else.

I used to get my haircut at Astor Place in NYC where I had met my barber of 15 years. A few months ago, I told my barber that I was moving out west and he suggested that I go to see Boris in LA. Given the fact that I was moving to SF and not LA, I was reluctant to make a trip down just to get a haircut. After visiting 10 barbers in the bay area, I was completely fed up with the fact that no one can cut a proper fade other then NYC. So on a business trip down to LA, I decided to see Boris and low and behold, it has been the best haircut I've had since my NY days. I now make it a point to go down to LA just to get my haircut which should show you how good Boris is. He is the Master Fader for realz!

When I moved out to LA in 2009 I was dreading having to find someone to cut my hair. After a disastrous try when I moved to NYC in 2005 for college I was so worried to have to do the search all over again. I end up going to Floyd's Barbershop on Melrose and was lucky enough to get Boris to cut my hair. It seemed like fate was throwing me a bone and when he said that he was going to go out on his own I was certainly going to follow him wherever he went. All my friends compliment my haircut as soon as it's done and whenever I'm on set for a job the hair and makeup people compliment how well my haircut is. Boris is the man and I don't know what I'll do if he ever leaves LA.

I spent 3 years after moving to L.A, searching for a good barber - to no avail. Then, Boris was recommended to me by a friend. I finally rock a good cut with confidence, and I always get complimented on my fresh cut or asked "who cut your hair" - never fails! You're the man Boris!

This will be a short review. Boris is a great barber, and I'm always happy with my haircut. I used to live much closer to his shop, and since my move, I still go out of my way to get haircuts from him. In my twelve years in LA, he's definitely my favorite barber. It's nice not to have to search anymore.

This review is for Boris. Boris is the Bach of barbers. He is a master of his craft the way you rarely see anywhere, anymore. For 25 bucks, I get the best haircuts I've ever had. I come home, look in the mirror, and feel better about myself. Yeah, no kidding. He's a really decent guy, too. A bunch of us followed him over from where he used to work to his current place.
As Vince D. said, you also get a neck shave with some hot shaving cream out of some old-time dispenser and a straight razor. How cool is that!
So why pay $15-20 at some chain store to get another bad haircut when you can pay another $5-10 and get a terrific haircut from a real professional. (And if you're Asian, like me, and have run into a lot of people who don't know how to deal with your hair, this is a really good option.) -

Boris has been my barber for almost 3 years now. I had been going to different "hair stylists" and they just never got it right. Boris knows exactly what he's doing and it's consistently a great hair cut every time. The price of his haircuts is also very reasonable, and much less expensive than any hair stylist. He's just a really good barber and I have no reason to go anywhere else. Give him a try just once and you'll agree.

I've gone to see Boris for several years and am nothing but extremely satisfied! Every now and then I'm forced to go to see somebody else and it makes me realize how good a barber Boris is (truly a 'master') and how difficult it is to find a really good barber. And, on top, he is a super nice guy, very accommodating ... and I love the fact that I can text him to set up an appointment.
