On several social situations I kept hearing about this banker lady that treated her customers like family. Several of my friends had commented about her, so I decided to actually meet her. Being a retired Police Sergeant I'm skeptical of most things...sorry, its just how we are. I'm pleased to report that they were wrong.....they actually UNDER RATED her. Jan Fong is the best. She is professional, knowledgeable and most importantly, she truly takes her job personally. I'm a believer! Thanks Jan!!

I recently had to make a number of changes w/ my accounts at Borel and Jan Fong walked me through the process. If you want to work with a bank that personalizes the transaction then go meet with Jan and learn more about their community bank.

Jan Fong at Borel reminds me of the good old days (and rare occurances in today's business environment) when customer service was a reality and not just a false claim with a lot of Corporate b.s. cost cutting and "bottom line" emphasis.
Jan calls me when one of my client's checks bounces and always says hi when I walk in. I also love that I know each of the two tellers and most of the other employees at that location. It's a little like "Cheers..." where everybody knows my name. -

If I could give a 6-star rating to Jan Fong and Borel, I would.
They have been my bank for a while now - and I have a great experience every time I interact with them.
They do not charge fees if you maintain a $1,000 balance, so I literally only pay $5.95 per month for online business BillPay, and that is it. The best part of their services for me - they pick up my business deposits up to twice per day at no cost to me. I estimated that to be a time savings to me of around $3,600 per year in recaptured billable time. -

I have had the pleasure of banking with Borel for several years. Personal service, wonderful staff, clear monthly statements make banking a pleasure. I have enjoyed special Borel events such as hearing Karen Brown talk about her business, and fun holiday events. I've never know banking like this, Jan Fong is a joy to work with in Los Altos along with all the employees I've come in contact with over the years.

I have had accounts with Wells Fargo for over 27 years. When recently looking into opening a CD, they (Wells Fargo) couldnt have cared less, or been less helpful - so I turned to Borel. Not only could they offer me a higher yield on my CD, but the service and professionalism was night and day.
After this experience, I inquired about bring all of my personal accounts over with Borel. The ONLY potential draw back I could think of, because they are a local bank, their ATM coverage is not commensurate with that of the larger banks. I was impressed yet again when told of their foreign ATM reimbursement. Use another ATM, and you are credited for the transaction fee. You must maintain a balance in your personal account, but that is to be expected.
Dont waste your time with these large banks that nickle and dime you, only to give you impersonal service... They will never even know you left, nor will they care! Cant beat Borel - honest people that care about you. -

I left my bank at Washington Mutual 3 years ago without looking back. I now not only am allowed to talk to a teller, but they know my name!!
As a small business owner, Borel saves my time by picking up my deposits at my office. Then their statements are the best by comparison for completeness and thoroughness. Many banks charge or do not provide copies of their checks. This hurts their clients when they have no longer kept statements or were not aware and they are working on prior years information.
Wish all banks were as pleasant and cared about their clients as this one does. Jan Fong is just the best!! -

It is my extreme pleasure to write this review for Borel Private Bank and Trust Company in Los Altos, CA.
I am a small business owner and have always wanted professional, personal, and safe banking. I learned about the bank from Jan Fong, Vice President and Deposit Relationship Manager. She is an amazing person who cares about her bank and clients. I now bank with Borel and am very happy with my choice. Oh no, I did not just see my Private Banker Jan Fong come by and pick up our deposit because it's Presidents Day on Monday and we missed the pick -up for my business. Now, that is Customer Service!!!
One of the nicest Valentine's Day cards my boyfriend and I received was from Jan Fong!
So when Wells Fargo tried to woo me back after they treated me like dirt, I told them I would come back if they didn't charge me as long as I kept a minimum balance (instead of charging me per transaction), pick up my deposits, give me a personal Banker and to stop trying to sell me insurance, credit protection, credit card Merchant Services etc. I have heard good things about Borel from other people I have dealt with in the past and to my surprise, I have yet to be disappointed.
I go to both Los Altos and Silvia and Ricardo are great! The Palo Alto staff is very nice as well. If you are unhappy with the big banks and getting nickeled and dimed, you have to come to Borel! -

Borel Bank represents banking the way it should be. They make banking easy. Their minimum balances and fees are reasonable and the customer service is outstanding. You know that they care about their customers and will make sure your needs are met -- something I never found in a large bank. For my small business, my banking is one less thing I have to think about and that's very important to me! Thank you.
