I'm not sure I will ever get over the loss of this place. I have the fondest memories here because my dad and I used to go often and stay for hours. It's where I was introduced to Rumi, Hooks, Coelho, Garcia Marquez, Roth, Eggars and my darling Sedaris and so on and so on...
It's where I grew up. It was my most trusted formal education. It's where my daughter and I snuggled up with hot chocolate and read a hilarious book that introduced her to the "birds and the bees". It's where we also picked apart the travel section to discuss all the places in the world we could go and she'd made it very clear to me that our first stop should be Prague, at 6 years old. It's where the ladies knew her name by heart.
Yes, this place was that deep to me.
I can't find my comfort zone with B&N, it's not the same :O( -

Here's the problem: this is a corporate owned "cafe." It lacks personality in both decor and menu, and generally lacks intention.
The menu offerings are standard, with the novelty beverage prices rarely being commensurate with the value of the drink itself. This is to be expected, however. The coffee tends to be quite strong and robust - not exactly what I am (always) looking for.
Seating is commonly an issue at busier times of the week. It's often difficult to seat yourself on a weekend afternoon, and patrons commonly find themselves in vulture-mode, swooning in to snatch the first free chair.
Overall, I understand the drive to frequent Border's cafe, as CT cafe locations are few and far between. I just wouldn't "recommend" this place to anyone... -

I come here at least once a week, typically on weekend afternoons. I drive past the Meriden Borders to come here, due to the larger size of the store.
I'm a tea drinker, & am definitely content with the selection. You can ask for much at a cafe in a corporate bookstore. Seating can be difficult at times on the weekends in the cafe, but you can typically find seats elsewhere in the store.
The staff is always helpful in locating books, mags, etc. The cafe workers will also come around with samples from time to time.
I chose this as inexpensive in price range, because I signed up for their discount card (which is free), & gave my email address. About once a week, I receive a coupon for 33% off one item at the store. If you can read more than one book a week on average, then you either have way too much time on your hands or should enter a speed reading contest. -
