Okay, I use to be a Barnes and Nobles girl, but starting today I QUIT!
I came by this place today after visiting active and window shopping around this area.
AND WOW, I was in shocked and Amazed at how much goodies this book store had.
They had ice kabab sticks , which was an exciting thing I found today and just all sorts of gadgets for books or journals.
Their membership card is absolutely terrific and its FREE, I joined today and got a coupon for 5 bucks off my next purchase and I just received another 20% off coupon in my email just for registering my card.
Books are terrific and with the discounts that this place gives it's practically on sale.
I like Borders because it's a nice place I like to come to sit and read, study, and have coffee with friends or alone. This place is frequented by annoying older people who do not know how to keep their voices down, and this one guy who ALWAYS comes with his freaking dog and uses it to hit on women. And I swear, even sitting at the farthest end of the cafe away from him, I can still hear his loud, annoying voice showing off his F***ING dog. ALWAYS talking about his dog!!! Books are disorganized and staff is also rude. For example, say it closes at 11:00 that night. At about 10 pm, an HOUR before closing, employees will start DRAGGING metal chairs and tables around you, banging them loudly, and stacking them up trying to get people to leave. Now I understand doing that 5-10, maybe even 15 minutes before closing although even that is pushing it, but earlier than that is just not okay.
I don't understand why people are giving Borders high reviews based on the fact that it has lots of books. It's.. a bookstore. It is supposed to have a large selection of books. That's like giving a hamburger restaurant 5 stars because OMG THEY HAVE HAMBURGERS. So I rated based on organization of the said large selection of books, atmosphere, and friendliness of staff.
Being hooked on reading I know I can almost always come into this Borders location and find a Suspense, Military, or Music book which will suit me. The staff is always helpful, and I love walking around with a Seattle's Best Coffee.
My only gripes are the Music and Magazine sections. I wish there was a larger music biography section, and the magazine aisles always seem to be crowded. Sundays at Borders are always a zoo.
i visit this borders like once every 3 weeks. or more like everytime they send me a coupon. but i swear i've spent a good amount of my hard earned money here.
the only thing really outrageous about borders is their movie prices. sure this isn't exactly an ideal location for one to get dvds or anything but wtf, 25 bucks for a nightmare before christmas and it said ON SALE. i bought the same copy from walmart for 17 buckaroos.
keep comin' with the coupons though and i'll keep throwing money at ya facessssss borders
This is one of the better Borders I've stepped inside. Yes, despite my current employer (a certain other monopoly of the literary persuasion), I still indulge in trips to various other bookstores with my roommate. Despite that, I've felt this way about Borders before I ever became a bookstore employee. Sadly, this chain as a whole just gives me bad vibes, and for legitimate reasons.
Any time I go to a Borders, I have to seek out the staff. I don't know where they hide, but it is certainly not at their customer information desk. I understand that staffing is problematic for a lot of businesses. However, if it is such a problem that a store is severely understaffed at critical hours of the day, then the business needs to put some of its chips elsewhere, like investing in good training for those employees that are available.
Borders is no longer at a point where they can thrive on their stock or size alone anymore. Though this store has a good selection in comparison to others. Speaking of selection, why was their music section almost completely barren? Granted, I am an avid mp3/iPod user. However, any section of the store that looks like it's been ransacked is a big turn off. I've had too many negative or lackluster experiences with this chain to really care one way or the other though.
I would like to see Borders give itself a face lift. Like, an aura cleansing or sorts. I always feel down when I walk into their stores. Maybe some feng shui? I wish I liked this chain more.
Great place to study for those who need ambiant noise to concentrate, like me. There are a lot of interesting people that hang out in the coffee shop area. When I say interesting, it encompasses odd and eccentric to cool and chill people, basically the general population. I don't have anything bad to say about this Border's because I frequent it often, whether it be for studying or relaxing on a Sunday afternoon.
I love to go here. It's just a great place to browse and spend time.
The only downside to this place is something they can't control. The parking spaces are horrid. I have a compact car and I still feel that the spaces are too small. Who the heck planned out those spaces!
This is my favorite bookstore in San Diego. The most important reason why I don't give it five stars is because the coffee shop workers aren't cross trained in books. They should get commission for selling books at the bookstore, I'm talking about soft sales. I found a copy of "How Starbucks Saved My Life" on the discount rack while I waited for them to make my coffee drink. I was intrigued by the irony of the title. Maybe she was just a good listener, and I ended up buying the book. The placement of the bargain shelf next to that area was a pure market move, I know, but I fell for it. The coffee shop here is always crowded, and I used to study here, now they could be losing business to Coffee bean across the parking lot, but this is a good business practice too. They need to give an incentive for the employees to soft sell the customers books. I don't want to be pushed into buying a book, but if I have doubts to the price, putting it on layaway is something they need to suggest. I don't like being asked if I'm a borders member, but will I get a free coffee after 10 purchases? What can they give me that is better than visiting the local library? Other than the fact that its a great way to meet people. They so need a singles night. Great place to buy pr browse books, DVD's & CD's are overpriced.
4 because it's corporate :o/
I really love this Borders. I always get help when I need it and they have every book ever printed. Just kidding. Actually, they do have these great little computer kiosks so you can look up books and if they don't have it in stock they will get it for you in a matter of a day or so. I get really great service in the check out line too! You expect those people to go postal because of the crowds they deal with but instead they're always super pleasant.
I used to be a huge B&N fan but I don't know what the F happened to that company line. So now I shop here AND they have a rather recent Membership thingy where you get a shiz-ton of coupons in your email or via texting (though I think they put the kibosh on this). In fact, today I am going to use my 40% off coupon to buy a gift for my baby niece. Maybe something from the Erotica section? Hey-oh! Oh I guess that would be for me.
I like the music selection, too. I know snobbitysnobs, who buys music at a store? Well, I do for particular things like buying cds for my foster kids to listen to in the car and the pricing was not too bad. I also like to listen to the music samples and then talk to my sister obnoxiously as if I didn't know about my elevated vocal volume.
They've also got a lot of neat board games to choose from. You know, Kazoo or Mentality or what ever it's called. If you dig that stuff.
One ginormous note though, especially for the ladies. There are definitely some peeps on the prowl *cat-noise*. I don't mean to say it's always guys trying to hit on chicks but I can only speak for my gender. It has calmed down but the first time I went I got hit on three times! I thought I had a sign on my back that said "In Heat" but when I finally regrouped with my sister she had the same experience. Anyway, since then I just try to go with my game face on...except when I'm lonely then I make sure to bring a stack of cards with my cell number. Rimshot!
I love Borders...as soon as I step in the door I am infused with the urge to explore every isle and get something wonderful to read. Now if only I could read 42 items at once I would be so happy!
We were in the store to find a workbook and we found a pretty good selection! Yay, and now i can start browsing the random stuff.
They have a cool selection of tchochkys too. Lots of random stuff to fill up your afternoon.
Beware and on the weekends, this place is a mad-house. It took a while to find a spot. We might have been better off parking across the street and walking over (keep that in mind for next time), and there is very limited seating if you wanna really get into something. But the floor is always open, and I like going into the kid area.
Oh Border's Books, how can I say anything bad about you??
Everytime I think I've found the largest Border's I'm proved wrong. This is one of my favorite Border's due to proximity to my house but also because, well, that's it I suppose.
The staff is very cool and the coffee bar is great,
the only thing I hate about Borders: kick out teh people tat wreck your stores. Yeah, I'm talking to you asshole teenager in the Manga section. Buy something or get out!!
Every time I am even near the mall I hear the Borders calling me....."You love books, buy some books"....I have the coupons they send me and extra cash I have on hand that seem to be burning a hole in my pocket.
This place is very friendly, clean and quiet, but not so quite that it seems like a library. I have not had too many experiences where they did not have a book I was looking for. The email coupons/newsletters they send are pretty good. I buy books I really want to read, not books that are on sale. I love my rewards card and love buying books here. The only thing that sucks is when they send the 40% discount coupons for dvd sets and they never have the set that I want.
The only reason they are getting 4 out of 5 stars is that the parking is impossible most days and getting out of the lot is even worse. The spots are too small for even compact cars and the area traffic is crazy!
But I love them and their crazy expensive vegetarian jelly beans.
After leaving with a handful of clothes from next door ON http://www.yelp.com/bi... we headed towards Borders Books.
"Why books today?", my wife wondered.
"I dunno..," Ace paused. "I have this feeling a book is calling me. And it has my name on it!"
After dropping the bags off in her SUV, I wanted to ingest this experience ...ummmm, a freshly glued book...a...sniff...a...sniff sniff...story in a while.
Immediately we headed west to the Seattle's Best Coffee...http://www.yelp.com/bi...
I drifted off on my own only to walk into the DVD section. Here a library of music that resembles Tower Records spread out throughout the course of this section. In the far back is the Children's Books, heading left another section of Psychology, Do-It-Yourself, History, Sports, Horror, Amie...and most importantly Religion.
"The Book of God: The Bible As a Novel" by Walter Wangerin Jr. caught my eye, which is The Bible written in a novel style. It breaks down from Abram all the way up to Jesus. Laid back style without any confusion, definitely going to read this book up quick!
Funny how things work out when you go shopping. Some people shop with lists, some people like me don't!
The fat: Take advantage of the Rewards savings card...
The skinny: ...wait until the next after a small purchase for a 20% coupon. (I found out the hard way!)
Borders rules over B&N. Especially if you are a member, and they email you coupons every month, which are never less than 20 percent off. Sometimes the box sets are really cheap which is a plus too.
Ordering books that arent in stock are pretty quick too. Had to order one for a Christmas present, and it got to the store in two days, and they called me to let me know.
This borders, is probably my favorite, out of all. I hate the set up of the downtown store, or spending more time searching for parking.
The magazine section could be better though, sometimes they don't have the ones I'm looking for.
Pro:
Lots of books
Lots of Videos
Coffee shop (seattles best) -
Cons
Prices (If you can wait for your books amazon is a much better deal)
Crowded (Most of the seats in the coffee shop area are filled)
Parking (I don't know who designed this parking lot but I hate it)
This place is so overwhelming.
Im a total bookworm and I believe that is why. I NEVER leave here with anything, much less a book, because I am so OCD and bizarre I cant ever make a selection.
I swear I could honestly spend an entire day in here and totally not even realize it.
We signed up for a Borders Book Club card. Im not sure what it means but it sounded cool.
I think next time I go, I will make sure to get there more than forty minutes before closing so I can actually mull around and leave with a book.
Two thumbs up from me.
Continuing with my theme for 2009 of trying new things, I've been very fortunate, financially speaking, this year and I know many others haven't, so I'm trying to support businesses I believe in. Family-owned restaurants. Car washes (those dudes work hard). Bookstores.
I am pretty stingy when it comes to books. Why pay more when you can pay less? No more. There are people who need the money I save when I buy from Amazon, namely people who work at Borders. I'm no Angie Jo but I try to do good things here and there.
Anyway, I took the boyfriend here for a book-buying bonanza. He was a lit major and was in heaven walking up and down the aisles, picking out whatever he wanted on me. Everything was clean, organized and tagged to help me find what I wanted. Granted we picked out starkly different things but we had a lovely evening here at Borders and now I remember the beauty of bookstores.
I used to be a B&N kinda girl. I dont know what happened??
Perhaps it was the friendly staff, or the amazing Seattle's Best Coffee Shop. Hmm, no... maybe it was the HUGE selection and the fact that they have a zillion books about every topic imaginable.
Borders book club card? Wait, it's free? Wow, i save money and accrue rewards for more free money later? What a concept! Give 'em your email address and they'll send you random coupons for 30-40% off, free coffee every now and then and other goodies.
Good service, fair prices, and everything you could ever want. Why would you go book shopping anywhere else?
I like this Borders except for the parking and the check out lines. My favourite feature is the computer terminals that customers can use to locate books or products in the store.
I love the bookstore environment and I prefer this Borders to many of the smaller independent bookstores. They have a cafe where you can take a magazine or book and have a coffee and read. Great feature but it is often impossible to get a seat, it seems that people use it for hours for study or homework or whatever.
My only other gripe is that I prefer non-mainstream titles so they often don't stock the book I'm looking for. Saying that I've been able to find CDs in their store in advance of them being available in other stores.
Overall I like this store and will continue to visit and support it and hope that some of the negatives improve. The staff is friendly and helpful and I believe that they want to help the customer.
This is my favorite book store in San Diego. The main reason I love it so much is that the place is enormous, I can spend hours in this place walking up and down the aisles browsing through books.
Another reason is that there are numerous comfy seats throughout the store to sit down in and read the first chapter of the book. I love this perk! because it gives me time to make the decision if I want to purchase the book.
Also, the staff is super friendly and very helpful in locating books throughout the store.
Become a Borders reward member, and you will receive monthly coupons to take up to 40% off a book. Also, they often have 2 for 1 deals on bestsellers.
I enjoy a good "vintage" book store as much as any other reclusive, interpersonally challenged dorkus morkus, but the problem with some vintage stores is that it can be rather painful to navigate the muddy waters of the book categorization system. Borders, by virtue of its corporate status, doesn't suffer from such afflictions. This isn't to say I haven't found a non-corporate store that has established a coherent structure of categorizing its books. This is to say that I'm a sucker for properly shelved books and Borders, in this regard, is ace.
For this reason alone, the man totally has the advantage.
I'm being facetious. But I really do love Borders. During my lunch break, if I'm not hording food into my poor, fragile body, I'm at Borders spending the better part of my salary on books that I won't get to read immediately because my book-buying habit cannot keep up with my book-reading habit.
If you buy books as frequently as I do, it's worth becoming a member of the Borders Rewards program. It's free to join and you'll receive coupons via e-mail. You can also opt to have the coupons sent to your phone (horry shit!), which is more convenient (hording coupons is a drag) and earth friendly. The coolest thing about Borders, apart from its wide selection of books and CDs, is that anything that isn't immediately on-hand in the store can be ordered free of charge if you're willing to wait for two or three days. The store will call you to let you know when your special order has arrived.
Apparently, I haven't any complaints about the store, so I'll take it upon myself to play Borders advocate.
One Yelper commented that Borders places "too much emphasis on trendiness rather than 'merchanting' intellectual reading material." This begs two questions: (1) How does one market "intellectual" reading material? and (2) Why would any [profitable] business in its right mind want to solely peddle intellectual reading material at the expense of alienating the hoi polloi? Please pardon me for my simplemindedness in thinking that reading should be accessible to EVERYONE whether your fancy is Plato or People magazine.
Other Yelpers have commented on the lack of seating, but there's obviously a method to this madness. All too often, you'll find your chronic book store campers who park for hours on end with no intention of purchasing anything (not even coffee). This is fine every once in a while, but doing it every day is a bit on the rude side. In addition to being a reading refuge, Borders is a business. That said, I can sympathize with Borders wanting to make a profit. If it doesn't make a profit, you'll have no where to park. If you don't like it, sit on the floor and pretend you're in China. It'll broaden your cultural horizons.
I hope I haven't ruffled any feathers.
I love bookstores - I know this is a corporate bookstore, but I love how humungous it is. I can get lost in the store and no one will bother me. I have camped out in an aisle skimming through books that I am considered and have never had anyone peering over my shoulder asking me if I need help every 15 minutes.
The prices are reasonable since we are members of the Borders Book Club. We often receive coupons for 20-30% off.
The selection of books and magazines is great-they do carry hard to find magazines.
When I have needed a helping hand, the staff has been very co-operative and non-snooty, like some smaller bookstores can be
First of all - if you need boxes for moving, and you tend to be a book slut like yours truly - go to Borders. And save yourself the digging thru the dumpster - if you go in and ask nicely at the information desk, they'll just give you a handful.
Second, don't stand in that retarded long line during "Harry Potter Chotchky Hour", just be willing to buy a cup of tea and check out in the cafe.
Third, the service at Borders tends to be fantastic. No, it's not a dusty bookstore with old relics that may or may not be there the next time you come back with a fresh paycheck burning a hole in your pocket. No, there's no "bookstore kitty" or that first edition Lord of the Flies you've been looking for - but you'll get what you need. And if you don't, someone will find it and order it for you.
Finally, if you want to be further tempted to buy media of all types, including that 12 disc remastered kung fu collection, sign up for their email list and rewards club. The weekly 20% off, or buy one get one free, or 40% off star-shaped post-its just might come in handy.
But most importantly - thank you Borders for not being a dick like B&N - who not only didn't give me any boxes, but declared that NO bookstore in San Diego would be giving out boxes at "this time of year" and oh yeah, suck it you simple scum on the bottom of the Universe's shoe who has found yourself in the unfortunate position of needing to move. Pfft.
Why the fuck do I keep going to bookstores? Honestly. I can log on to http://Amazon.com and find EXACTLY what I am looking for, at a cheaper price, and even get it within a few days. Now I love walking through bookstores and just checking things out and seeing what is out there, but what the fuck am I doing here when I know what I want and 75% of the time the bookstore will NOT HAVE IT. That's right, stores are so large and have to carry so much stuff to stay relevant that most of the time they are sold out of the things I want. I tell you if I go to the store looking for a Y: The Last Man Trade and find that they have like three in a row, I will buy all three. That means that if the store actually has what I am looking for I will spend THREE TIMES what I was planning on spending. No big deal though, I got hop on Amazon and find EVERY copy of the story for a lower price and have them all shipped to me within a week.
But this last weekend I was excited. I mean really looking forward to hitting the bookstore. Why? The last time I was there around Valentines Day I stumbled on a Detective series set in a future Science Fiction/Fantasy setting and it looked kinda cool. I took a chance on an anthology that combined the first two books. I just got around to reading them and LOVED them. Well the last time I was there I had seen that there was at least 4 more novels in the series. I was ready to buy ALL 4. What did I find? One book. And it was not even the next one in the series. What the fuck man? I bought it anyways, really liked the series, and then proceeded to wait in line for 20 minutes on a Saturday afternoon. Are we really in a recession? Jeebus. Guess what? I headed home, hopped on Amazon and found the other books and bought them all. For under $30 bucks I got 4 novels with shipping and will have them by Friday. What does Borders have? Nothing.
*** IN THE CAFE.....
Grab the teapot service.... its only $2.60 and it yields about 3 cups of tea.
and they will heat up your pastry for you. (love that)

*Terrific* dumpster offers cardboard boxes, *free*, to meet most of your moving needs. Boxes are the right size for lifting, so you won't hurt your back. Really good size for, say, books.
Said dumpster is behind the store. Dumpster does NOT smell like pee (or it didn't when reviewed), so it might also do in a pinch if you're between living situations.
They sell books here too. (Not in dumpster.)
I frequent this Borders most of all. I know that some of them sometimes have live music but I've never seen it done here. They can be real busy but the staff usually does a pretty good job of keeping the line moving.
This was a great place to shop for stuff at Christmas. I think they may have been open 24 hours but I know they were open past midnight so I stocked up on DVD's, books & gift cards from here.
I suggest signing up for their Borders Rewards card (if you don't mind sharing your shopping habits and email address) because you'll get weekly specials for 20-30% off on various stuff. This comes in handy when you are getting older DVD's or books.
Make sure to peruse the bargain book racks out front and near the registers. You can usually find something interesting for about $5 but grab it on sight because it likely won't be there the next day.
1 star off though because it can be hard to find parking here even on regular non-holiday weekday afternoons.
I could spend thousands here if I could afford it. Alot of it would go towards the the cds, dvds, cook books and the self help section.
The only thing I dont like is the lack of seating. Sometimes I wanna pretend that this place is a library so I can just sit and chill with a book that I may or may not buy.
If I could give them no stars I would. I went in there on Mother's Day and I had two very rude, curt, and unpleasant clerks help me. One told me that she was too busy to help me with a recommendation - even though she was working the information desk and no one else was around!!!! The woman she passed me off to give me about 5 seconds of consideration and walked off. I had to run after her to stop her and ask where the book was.
I then went to the Bookstar in Pt. Loma which was much better.
I was just in here yesterday to buy my bf a father's day present. He has been wanting the "Cannibible" (I will leave the contents of the "Cannibible" to your cannimagination). So, I got it for him, and headed over to the kid's section. Here, me and Lehlahni sat for about half hour and read all kinds of fun books that made noise, and nobody came and bothered us or gave us dirty looks. I think they truly love to see people read and enjoy books there, which is awesome.
They always have "bargain books", with super deals- Lehlahni got a big pop-up farm book for $4! I secretly played with it when she went to bed. ***They still have them if you have a secret pop-up fetish.*
At the register, the purple-and grey haired 60-sumn year old checkout lady checks out the Cannibible, gives me a knowing grin, and says she's from Hawaii, and she is an old hippie. I love her. She is the coolest old lady I have ever met, besides my grammy. Then she scanned a 30% coupon for me!
I also grabbed 3 lindt truffles for a buck. yum.
Tons of books, everything is easy to find, and they have a cafe inside. I don't care that they don't have seating, I always just plop down on the floor.
Read on Yelpers, read on.
This is a pretty sweet Borders location. Read, it's quite spacious and they have a very good selection of books, music, and DVDs. You can also peruse through their 8 aisles of stocked periodicals which you can read for free if you simply buy a coffee and plop yourself down at a table. Think of it... you can be paging through $40 haute couture magazines, architectural digest, or even Guns & Ammo if that's where you get your kicks... all the while sipping on a nice foamy latte.
Well, I don't read Guns & Ammo and I personally have never shot or wanted to shoot a gun. That said, there's plenty of intellectual armature here to add to your bibliographical arsenal: Philosophy by Kierkegaard, Semiotics by Barthes, Fiction by Kundera & Robbins, and Poetry by Llorca & Ginsberg. Add to that a good selection of movies and music and you have, in my book, a winning formula for a kickass store!
I just don't like that they are so overpriced...especially compared to places like Amazon. Still, if I want instant gratification, this is the place I shop when I'm itching for books in the 619.
I was pleased when this Border's was built. I like border's, I like Barnes and Noble too and because I like books, magazines, cds, dvds and coffee.
For me, stores like this are dangerous. They are like a black hole because once I get in there, I have a hard time getting out. This Borders is extra cool because it is in the gaslamp. Although groovy little book stores and record shops give a town character, I have to admit, I love the convenience of a a chain like Borders ... Is that so wrong?
This book store is damn cozy and welcoming. I can sit here for hours and use the place as a make shift library. Also, it is pretty easy to find good deals here. I love shopping for CDs, (no I-Pod adapter in my ol' Nissan) and I got an oldie, but goodie Flaming Lips CD for 10 bucks at this Borders.
This book store is a chain, but it is hard not to love the convenience of a chain sometimes.
I know this is the corporate book/music/dvd store to end all corporate book/music/dvd stores, but I love Borders anyway. Considering the cafe, I recently determined that I could spend at least two years locked in here if the bomb ever dropped.
Plus, giftcards here are easy solutions to most gift-buying dilemmas.

My experience with this place always starts/ends with the parking lot; the spaces are just so damn tight, people having converstaions in the parking lot, and if a SUV or full-size sedan gets in there...forget about it!!
I always head to this Borders branch when a new grapic novel is released or I want to browse for one. The computer/technical selection is incomparable as no other bookstore offers the sheer amount and variety.
The kids area is awesome as well and I can't wait till I bring my son/daughter.
Seattle's Best is their cafe/lounge area with plenty of tables and chairs....as long as you get there before 11 AM!
Its funny that I ran into this review because I just went into Borders for the first time this weekend and........................................
I didn't like it.. I felt that they placed too much emphasis on trendiness rather than merchanting intellectual reading material.
And the fact that I couldn't find a simple book really pushed my buttons. Its jammed packed with magazines and other useless garbage to attract people who don't have the discipline to walk away. But the people sitting at the cafe seem to be having a good time. And I haven't tried the coffee yet, but I guess since its trendy it has to be great.
I'll think I'll stick with B&N because they're saturated around the city and their inventory is pretty decent..... Yea for me..
A 'tard store. This store attracts morons, for some reason.... people block aisles, stand in front of bookshelves, talk loudly, be rude to each other...
Layout is pretty poor and there's always a long line at the checkout.
I usually take a 20min drive up to the B&N in MireMesa...
Decent book store. Coffeehouse can be crowded at times and it can be rough to get through the magazine "browser" crowd but otherwise the store is well layed out and seems to have a bit of everything.
Parking will suck as this is Mission Valley West and the lot is way undersized for the demands placed on it and the spaces are narrow. If you're lucky you may score a free space on Camino Del Rio N.
I have been buying books from this place for a long time. It's big (size wise) with huge selections and the staffs are friendly and very "assistive" (if that's even a word.) The cafe is nice also, cheaper than many places around here.
I take off 1 star because the "self search computer/printer" sucks big time. I usually don't like asking for helps if I know what I am doing. I was trying to look for a book, so I came up to this computer/printer thingy...it froze. OK...so I moved to another 1 --- and the mouse of the pc got some really funky looking stains....so I shifted to the 3rd machine, found my book in the computer, its ISBN # and trying to print....?...print!...??....print again!!........nothing happened...the printer doesn't work. So I had to write it down, which is fine, but it also shows that these kinda "self search computer/printer/machine" are useless. Why bother to even put them there?! Get them fixed Borders~!
I go here to study sometimes when UCSD's library is too crowded or closed. It's a little further away, but I've always liked the atmosphere of bookstores.. maybe because I used to be a nerdy little bookworm when I was a kid. Anyway, the cafe is better than Starbucks in Barnes and Noble but it's equally pricey. It's hard to find a spot to sit sometimes but I think that's true for all Borders cafes. Sometimes on weekend nights they have a local musician perform. Also, I've noticed that the people in the cafe tend to be friendlier than usual and talk to you more, if only to make a few random comments about the book you're reading. This particular Borders closes at 12 am on Fridays and Saturdays which is a nice perk.
