6 reviews for Borders Books Music & Cafe
Workers are always incredibly helpful AND adorable.
I never have trouble finding what I need because the store is well designed. But sometimes I pretend I am confused just to get one of the cute staffers to approach.
GUILTY!
The Puyallup Borders offers suburban Puyallup residents a little treat of culture. This and Waldenbooks are the only real book stores in town, so unless your venturing into Tacoma for some used books, this is your only option.
I enjoy this Borders a lot though, because there is absolutely no pretentiousness in the atmosphere (I'll chalk that up to Puyallupites having a hard time understanding what a word like pretentiousness means), it's a well-lit, clean, and spacious. The selection is pretty fantastic for a store in a shopping center (lots of variety, lots of titles), and the prices aren't too bad. Unlike competitors Barnes & Noble, Borders don't price books directly at MSRP. Granted, you'll find better deals in a used book store on online, but if you're hankering for something, Borders will save you more money than a lot of other book stores that really mark up prices.
The employees here are very friendly and willing to talk about books (that would, of course, be why they're working with books) and give you suggestions based on your previous reading.
Like other reviewers have said, you're more than welcome to come here and cozy up in one of their large, plush chairs and read a book. This practice is not frowned upon at all. You're also more than welcome to thumb through the magazines for extended periods of time.
This Borders has a Seattle's Best café inside, where you can get a latte or mocha for your perusing, or sit down with a slice of carrot cake or a large, crumbly muffin for your enjoyment.
A quite, sophisticated atmosphere that provides a little relief from the monotony and sprawl of Puyallup.
Been shopping here for a number of years and it's always been pleasant. Never been bothered when I spend 30 minutes thumbing through magazines or books and people generally seem to like their jobs, which is always nice. The prices are a bit higher than shopping via amazon or http://half.com, but then again, you're not waiting a week to get your book. Nice place to check out!
I know there are Borders everywhere, and I've been to quite a few over the past few years. This particular location has the best employees I've come across at a Borders yet. They have been extremely helpful and friendly to me and my friends at this location for years now and I highly recommend it as a place to get your books, etc. from. It's overpriced a tad but the service and atmosphere at this location are well worth it.
This is one of the best Borders around.. even though it's a chain, they have a huge selection and it keeps getting better. I'm surprised now by the huge selection of journals/sketchbooks/paper/other interesting artist tools. They always have great deals on random books but don't shop for CDs here. It's totally unorganized and not worth it. You'll never find anything in the audio selection, even if they computer says they have it. Nice little cafe, too. I always treat borders like a library, but I don't think you're supposed to.
The Puyallup Borders is the best place in town for books. It has a friendly atmosphere and tons of books! While more expensive then buying online it does give the experience of shopping for the "book."
