I love this Borders.  It has really changed over the years but it's my favorite bookstore.  They have the usual selections of magazines and books.

I really like their customer service and reading next to the cafe.  My sister and I come here when we are bored at our parent's house.  I like their cd/dvd section and they have their own room for that (well 1/2 of the room).

It's right off the 94 exit on Lake, so the location is convenient and the parking space is a non-issue.

I love bookstores, but I've had some weird service issues the last couple of times I was here.

I stopped at the Mt. Prospect Borders yesterday looking for a particular book. They were out of stock, but called the Wilmette store, which had one and it was put on hold for me.

Drove here last night, went directly to the check-out counter to get it.  Two young guys were organizing stock behind the counter. I waited a few seconds for them to turn around.  When they didn't I politely announced myself and told them what I needed.

One of the guys, wearing all black, didn't even turn to face me - instead walking to the end of the counter.  The other guy, who looked a lot like Seth Rogen, asked my name and when I put it on hold.  I answered, then Seth jovially said to the black-clad guy:  "Dude, you didn't even answer her!"  "I didn't see her, man!"   Um, hello - I'm right here.  Maybe wait until I leave before you have this conversation.

Then, they can't find the book.  Seth asks if it could be filed under any other name.  Nope.  Could someone else have picked it up?  Nope.  Black-clad guy talks to someone at the information desk (via an ear headsets); it's not there.  Finally, as I'm formulating profane thoughts, they find it on the bottom shelf.  I clutch it as I would the Hope Diamond.

I wander back in the store to browse.  Not two minutes go by when I hear, "Can I help you find something?"  I turn to see Seth standing there.  I gesture toward the book I'm holding and say, "Only this." He smirks and says, "I'm just stalking you."

Make my way to the kids section.  I'm scrutinizing book titles on a particular shelf, when an employee walks past me a bit and starts re-stocking another shelf.  She has clearly seen me, but doesn't acknowledge me, or ask if I need help. It was around 8 pm, so perhaps it was too near closing time for her to be bothered.

I brought my purchase to the check-out and am rung up by black-clad guy.  Thankfully, that was problem-free.

The book, BTW, is titled Ant Farm, by Simon Rich.  I hear it's a great read.

You might run into middle- and high-schoolers here, but when they have sales/clearance on their Paperchase & Jolee stickers items, it's a good thing.  Be sure to be aware when you're at the cashier, since the clearance price not go through.  The Seattle coffee/cafe has okay desserts, and their coffee shakes look like what you find in your toilet.  Drinks should be a pass, but if you're hungry for sweets, the marshmallow brownie can be fulfilling.

I like Borders better than Barnes cause they have more stuff... I love cutesy stationery and journals and stuff like that so I always see stuff I want at Borders...

I went to this one cause I was on my way in to Bed Bath and Beyond next door and thought that I should stop in to use up the store credit that I had left and SCORE!!! I got a new Bukowski for just $7.99 for my husband! Yay!
