Review from Jeff T.
There's a reason that Border Grill has expanded so fast in Marquette, its DAMN good. From the burritos to tacos, you really can't go wrong. When I come back to town, BG is one of the places I have to hit before leaving. It's a nice break from the pizza joints and dive bars that are scattered throughout the town.

I honestly wasn't sure if it was possible to find a(n American) burrito as good as Chipotle but...
BEHOLD! I have found it.
Listen carefully. You should get a Sonora Burrito (cheddar jalapeno tortila, chicken, spinach, etc.) and then mail it to me. Express. -

This is one of the first places I stop when I am back in Marquette and always get the chicken gourmet burrito (grilled chicken, rice, cheese, border salsa and guacamole). The border salsa is amazing even though it is a rather weird orange color and I am not quite sure what is in it.
Border Grill is a must eat while in MQT -

A working knowledge of gluten tolerance, and a totally decent taco. Not the *best* taco, but not bad at all.
pretty fast, reasonably priced. -

I grew up loving Border Grill, and now living across the country I still crave it all the time, and love it just as much. The food is delicious and fresh, and the staff is always friendly. The new building isn't bad either, I like the soda-machine-on-both-levels thing they have going.
I would HIGHLY recommend the veggie quesadilla, and lots and lots of Border salsa (what is IN this stuff??? ADDICTING).
The downside: parking can be a pain. I would recommend forgoing the front lot if it looks busy, it always seems like an accident waiting to happen (but there is plenty of parking in the back). Also this place gets CROWDED. The congestion has been relieved somewhat with the expansive new building, but it can definitely get loud and stressful at peak hours.
Anyway, nothing beast Border Grill the morning after a late night drinking (or after a day at the beach, or in the evening for dinner, or even when you're not hungry but love it so much you try to shove it down anyway...). Ahhh sweet Marquette memories. -

They really are a great business overall! They have grown so much mostly because they truly have 5 star service in a casual setting. I am very happy that you can now Veganize your food when you order to make sure no meats or cheeses are included in your food. Fresh tasting ingredients and both MQT locations have an awesome atmosphere. It's the closest thing you'll find to Tex-Mex in the UP! Don't expect too much "heat" in their spices though!
I will also say the freshly made tortilla chips are always a winner!
My main issue is personal preference, I'm not a huge fan of anything on the menu. I usually order sides and put together a meal for myself, because nothing is close to what I would want without paying full price for a menu item in which I'm going to leave 5 ingredients out. anyway.1 Previous Review: Show all »

Now, we're talking about mexican food in the UP of Michigan. This isn't gonna be mexicantown in Detroit. That being said, Border Grill is awesome. I'm usually tentative on trying the fast-ish food mexican restaurants in different towns because you never really know what you're in for. This place was so good I had to go back a second time during my week vacation in Marquette.
The salsa tastes a little weird but in a good way. I think the color just throws off your brain a little. I got a carne asada burrito both times and it was delicious. The salsa fuego they put on it is hot but not mouth burning and is perfectly complemented with the sour cream on the burrito as well.
The building is new and a definite step up from their old digs from what I've been told. The place is clean and modern, right down to their weird order delivery system. They've got a patio outside that I guess they have live music on too, which is a nice touch.
Overall, I'd recommend this place to anyone looking for A) a quick meal, B) some quality mexican, or C) a nice little lunch if you're on vacation in the UP. -

Does anyone know about the "orange sauce?" Because it is the best sauce evahr! Not only does it go great with their chips, but I dip everything else in my plate in the sauce, too! My visit isn't complete without it!

Not bad, not great. Better than Taco Bell, that's for sure, but if Chipotle comes to town, it'll probably put this place out of business.

Whenever I visit Marquette I try to stop at the Border Grill. I've only had one item from the menu before - the Mahi Mahi burrito, but I get it everytime because it is that good. The chips also come with a free dip that is very flavorful and reminds me of a bisque. It was unusual but definitely makes me want to go back.

Not a bad little place. Well air conditioned for a hot summer. The food seems a bit expensive, but the portions are fair (with the exception of the rice and beans which aren't very good so maybe less is more). I was pleasantly surprised by how spicy my Chipotle Quesadilla was and plan on going back.

Everybody seems to love this place. The best Mexican place in Marquette. Prices aren't bad for what you get.

I miss your Black Bean Burritos on jalapeno wraps. I don't even know how many Sundays I found myself disappointed you weren't open. I miss you.

I often ate cheese burritos here when I was in college they were ok. But the chipoltle sauce that they make I could eat on everything and did.

Oh what is in the Border salsa? What makes it that color? Why is it so dam good? When ever I am in MQT I stop in at the border grill, it stands out among all other Mexican food I have had, it is good, fresh and a little different from your usual cheese heavy Mexican.

Great Mexican restaraunt. Fresh Pico DiGallo is great, good menu selection, beer avail. in main Marquette location. Not too spicy so even picky kids will find something they can enjoy.
