An absolutely fantastic historical society and museum. Located in the Elizabeth Reed house, a beautiful old Victorian built in 1874, the museum contains multitude of interesting items. The numerous large rooms have period furniture, lovely paintings, old clothes, thousands and thousands of photographs, original newspapers, books and great old maps. There is a place to research genealogy records and even an orignal Fresnel Lens from a now extinct lighthouse from the area.

The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable and even though we were visiting in a frigid part of January, seemed to enjoy our company and made us feel comfortable. The society also gives various lectures and programs during different times of the year. The historical Society and museum is a fantastic place to visit to learn anything you could possible what to know about the region.
