I was really happy with this bootcamp. First and foremost, location location location. I've always wanted to try an outdoor workout class like this, but since they're usually so early in the morning (so the park is empty), going to a park that's not within walking distance of my Chelsea apartment is not going to happen. Bootcamp Republic has several options, I think they have a camp in nearly every park in this city. So not only is the camp convenient, but it's smaller. You get more individual attention and it's also a lot harder to sleep in when you know exactly who the other people you'll be bailing on are. Also, the fact that the camp is in 3 week segments makes it's easier to test out. The commitment is minimal and it's affordable to come back for several in a row. But finally, and most importantly, it's a great workout. Give it a try!

No pain, no gain. I guess that is my philosophy on this stuff. And while I might not be in the best shape of my life, I joined a boot camp with my friend who is training for the Alcatraz swim (me, for a 10K). And both of us, admittedly, needed a swift kick. We found a deal on Lifebooker (I think, one of the group sites) and got a three week 1 1/2 hr twice a week session with this place. Both of us have been injured to the extent that we are both visiting sports medicine practitioners four-five months out! She sprained her hands, I hurt my quad initially and then tweaked my neck that I could barely move. Just be forewarned: this place says it's for all shapes, sizes, fitness levels. It's not. If you are in bad shape, go to a lame-o bootcamp or prepare for your insurance company to hate you!
But I will say, the instructors really did work you to your fullest potential.Listed in: Exercise Groupons

This is the beginning of my second week of bootcamp with Sarah Ann - she's an incredible trainer and very nice yet pushes you to your personal limits. I thought this would be a frightening series of three sessions of bootcamp but after my second session, I was hooked. Yes, it's hard work and yes, you will sweat *lots* but it's an incredible feeling. I liked it so much I signed up for an additional three sessions to complete a three week series. I feel the effects already - I am less lethargic throughout the day and feel great after my 6am workouts. Even if you're skeptical , I recommend trying it out at least once and see if it suits your needs. If I hadn't followed through to my second class, I wouldn't have known the wonderful benefits of bootcamp.

It's spring. The birds are chirping. The leaves are starting to sprout. I want to work out outside. No more of this elliptical nonsense for me. I need greenery and fresh air... and an @$$-kicking workout. I remembered seeing groups of people working out in Central Park during one of my runs last fall, so I just randomly searched and found Bootcamp Republic on Google. Mind you, Central Park is not their only location. They will kick your butt ALL around town. Anyway.. I didn't really know what to expect, considering that they accept people of varying abilities into their classes. I like to think of myself as quite fit, so I was wondering if Bootcamp Republic would be sufficiently hardcore for me. Answer: um, YEAH. I was in so much pain the next day, I had to cancel my other workout. Basically, your trainer throws a variety of exercises at your over the course of 90 minutes, and you can only hope to keep up. Classes are fairly large in size, so you don't feel like you're being singled out. You feel like you're being energized by everyone around you. The best part, of course, is that it's outdoors. I miss the days of going to soccer practice after classes and going home after dark, smelling of fresh sweat and grass... mmmm... Bootcamp Republic completely satisfied my nostalgia... and my need to get ripped. Sessions are a bit pricey... but they have an additional Sunday session you can add on at no charge. So it doesn't come out too bad all together. Besides, for those of you who need someone to yell at you in order to achieve results, that don't come free. I definitely feel like my trainer, Courtney, is beyond qualified and prepared for the workouts. And I definitely feel like I'm on my way to a better body!

So..an update to my earlier review. As anyone who is familiar with Serena (the owner) knows, she's just about the most responsive and dedicated person you could meet. And she's just proven herself even more dedicated to her customers' satisfaction- she's given me a chance to take some Bootcamp classes again, and I'm very excited to give them a(nother) shot! Anyone this motivated to change one little customer's mind really cares...and that gets them 4 stars alone. I'll re-update in May, when I take my classes!

I've attended a couple sessions for bootcamp. 2 with Courtney and 1 with Tanya. both were awesome and i had so much fun. They give you a great workout but are great people as well. i would definitely be signing up for more classes whenever i have disposable income to spare.
