The value of this boot camp can be summed in two words: Emily Boll. I officiate high school football on the island, so I need to be in shape. But I can't stand gyms: Treadmills make me feel like I'm going nowhere fast,  robotic-looking resistance machines are unnatural and complicated to operate (not to mention sweaty from other people's carcasses), and who wants to breathe other folks' discarded air? Videos might be okay, but they require me to convert my living space into a gym (thereby bringing the sweat to MY carpet), and they can't adapt the moves to my skill level. Thus, if I'm not yet strong enough for that move, I'm stuck waiting for the next one I can do--and that means wasted time and a lousy workout!

Enter Boot Camp Hawaii! We sweat outside, on the sandy beach of Ala Moana Park. We breath FRESH air. We use our bodies and two dumbbells, no clunky $1000+ machines. Emily tailors the workout to YOUR ability level. Chief among her many strengths is her knack for sizing up your strength/stamina quickly and early. Less mature trainers often go with the following cookie-cutter, one-size-fits-all approach: They start you too hard, too heavy, and only then ease up. Not only does this slow your ability to get results, it raises your chances of injury! By contrast, Emily simply starts you where you BELONG and pushes you from there.

In the end, you get RESULTS. I try to attend BCH class five times a week. Since January alone I've lost more than ten pounds, and I've decreased my body fat by more than 2%. Friends tell me I'm looking leaner, and I can feel myself getting stronger. I also went from huffing and puffing while treading water to swimming 2000 meters twice a week without stopping. I entered my first-ever run-swim biathlon in February. The strength and endurance I built up to complete such events came from waking up early every morning, dragging a couple of dumbbells to the beach, and hitting the sand with my BCH workout buddies. That's it.

I'm a regular guy who loves to eat food and doesn't really get into counting calories. But what I find is that going to Boot Camp every morning revs my metabolism to burn what I do eat, and it gives me energy for my day so I don't have to rely on unhealthy snacks for the same mental boost. In the end, I end up eating fewer calories by default, and I never have to feel guilty about what I eat. (In fact, I had pizza and beer with the blessing of my trainer! Where will you find THAT anywhere else?!)

I can't recommend Boot Camp Hawaii strongly enough.

    "WIll do push-ups for beer!"

Not quiet sure yet, I only did two days.  Will get back with more feedback.  I like the idea that Emily also offers Corporate excercise.  Might look into that for myself n my fellow employees.

There are so many boot camps out there currently, but not one is as good as Boot Camp Hawaii.

As a lifetime fatty, I use that affectionately, I was very cautious about doing any boot camp.  They are intimidating and you feel like you need to be in shape before you even begin training.  This is not the case with Boot Camp Hawaii.

On my first day I felt welcomed.  The classes are catered to every level, all ages, and everyone there is at different point in their "exercise campaign."  Beginners and seasoned athletes can work out side by side each getting an effective and strenuous work out.  And even though you're working your ass off every class, there's still laughter and support.  The best workout environment I have ever been a part of and I've been a part of many.

After being a part of Boot Camp Hawaii for over 3 months I've noticed that Boot Camp Hawaii is the only consistently present Boot Camp around.  There are Boot Camp classes 6 days a week, in the morning and evening, and even on holidays.  If you want flexibility Boot Camp Hawaii offers that.  You would think that you'd get bored with a structured class, but in more than 3 months of boot camp I have yet to have two classes that are the same.  There's always something new and you're always being challenged.

Not only does Boot Camp Hawaii offer kick ass exercise classes, they also offer Boot Camp Challenges, nutrition workshops, cooking classes, fitness consultation, nutrition consultation, and Social Hours.

    Challenges
The challenges put a little bit of a competition aspect to working out.  However, they're really about setting your own goals and having even more accountability to reach them.  And hey, if you win, you get free stuff.  Who doesn't like free stuff?  I did a 12-week challenge and really enjoyed pushing myself and seeing definite results.

    Nutrition Workshops
Lots of people work out a ton, then eat a ton of crap.  Working out and looking good is a part of getting into shape, but understanding what you're putting into your body aids weight loss and maintenance.  Boot Camp Hawaii has nutrition workshops that explain how food interacts within the body and why certain foods are beneficial to the body.  You learn that "diet" doesn't need to be a nasty word.  it's just a word that explains how and why you eat.  It's not preaching give up fast food, but it does give Boot Camp Hawaii members the tools to understand what fast food does within the body.  There's also a lot of discussion among the attendees to share food tips with each other.

    Cooking Classes
How many exercise classes out there actually teach you how to cook healthy foods?  I'm going out on a limb and saying no.  Healthy food doesn't have to taste like cardboard.  With the cooking classes, they most definitely do not.  It's hands on and in the end you get to eat the food.  You also get to talk to the chef and ask why certain ingredients are used or how's the best way to chop a vegetable.  All in all a great tool to help weight loss and maintenance.

    Fitness & Nutrition Consultations
One size does not fit all and the addition of these services helps to tailor a program that works for you.  For me, the ability to sit down and discuss my workout schedule helped to make the process more efficient.  The same goes with nutrition.  Sometimes you just need someone to give you some ideas on how to add to your diet, not take away, that help you get the nutrients you seek, like getting the good fats or tons of protein without eating a steak every night.

    Social Hours
I have yet to attend one, but the fact that they're even scheduled is wonderful!  As I said before, Boot Camp Hawaii is really welcoming.  It feels like you've been there forever after the first day.  These get social gatherings give Boot Campers the ability to get to know each other better, since most classes there's not too much time between water and catching your breath to get to know people better.  And it shows that you don't have to lose your social life to get healthy.

All in all, Boot Camp Hawaii is wonderful.  Emily, the owner of Boot Camp Hawaii, will make you sweat, sore and laugh and in one class.  All the trainers are attentive and supportive, but they don't pander.  This holistic approach to health is so effective, Emily has created a program that understands physical exercise is a part of good health, not the whole.  I am so happy to be a part of the Boot Camp Hawaii!

I loved this boot camp! I did the Holiday Challenge and was thrilled with the workouts, especially Emily's(the owner)! I felt challenged and inspired. This is Emily's business and she is great! I've been into fitness for a while, but well undereducated and Boot Camp Hawaii greatly added to my dictionary of exercises. I am a kinesiology major pursuing a my degree in physical therapy, but boot camp Hawaii inspired me to look into personal training while I attend school, I am currently taking my first semester pursing such and am enjoying every second of it!

Thanks Emily for the inspiration and motivation to increase my life and fitness!

I've only completed 2 classes so far, but I LOVE Emily and the work she does. Very friendly and supportive, but firm in challenging your limits.

Every day is a different kind of work out. Keeps things interesting, especially since I get bored easily. I come home feeling good and sore the next day. Complimented with my diet changes, I can already feel results!

My only qualm is that its a bit expensive for me. I'm currently using a Living Social deal for one month, but now I wished I got the 8 or 12 week challenge!

Emily offers a great boot camp!  It's fun, challenging, empowering, and generally leaves you feeling great.  Even though I struggle during the work outs, I feel supported and encouraged.  This isn't a "yell in your face" military boot camp, it's comfortable and not too intimidating, while being totally effective.
I've worked with Emily one-on-one as well, and she really knows her stuff!  She's also patient, which I really appreciate.
    GO FOR IT!

I am a firm believer in investing in your health in order to maintain a better quality of life, without depending on medication or be under constant medical care.  I joined bridal boot camp just a few weeks prior to my wedding in September 09 and have yet to tire of it.   I have found it to be a very sound fitness program that blended fitness, outdoors, and most of all fun!  Most trainers I've had in the past with my gm membership just gave me the boring cookie cutter routine that didn't do a whole lot for me besides make me sore the next day.  It was really hard to take this one trainer serious when he had a pot belly!  What better way to work out with Alamoana beach as the back drop!! I've had both Emily and Scoop as the instructors and I love the positive, encouraging, non-pressuring atmosphere they create, all while pushing me to my physical limits.  I just completed the 1st boot camp challenge, that included nutritional guidance and periodic weigh-ins and lost over 7lbs of fat, and lost almost 10 inches all over.  My next goal is to run a half marathon this year and Emily does one-on-one consultation by appointment.

Emily doesn't have the website up and running until Jan 16, but shes very easy to contact and will work with you on whatever your goals are.  If you've got serious fitness goals, or just plain want to start/mix up your routine, give this a try.  It's definitely a commitment to my health (cost and time wise), but the numbers don't lie.  Plus, I've never sweated so much in my life :)
