Review from Doug W.
Bremerton, WA
I recently moved to the area from California, and Boone Hall Farms is one of my favorite things about Mt. Pleasant. It has an excellent selection of produce, much of it grown locally, at superb prices (close to half of what I was paying at a chain grocery store). Some of the more exotic items come from California (avocado, olive oil, wine) or Latin America (mango), but even these I've found to be much cheaper than at a chain store, and generally, much of the produce was grown on the plantation. They also have a good selection of homemade canned foodstuffs. I particularly enjoy their salsas and jams. Additionally, the seafood is local and cheap.
While you can't get all your groceries here, it's probably the best place around to get cheap, local, and tasty produce and seafood. -

Boone Hall Farms is the grocery/farmers' market arm associated with Boone Hall Plantation. They're relatively small for a grocery store, but they have good vegetables at good prices. They have a small but solid meat counter and seafood from Mt. Pleasant Seafood. For meat, I always end up at Whole Foods instead; for seafood, I'm happy to go to Boone Hall Farms if I'm in the area.
If you're looking for lowcountry foodstuffs to give as a gift, Boone Hall Farms is a good place to start. The have Callie's biscuits (yum!), and all kinds of other edible, local specialties.
Their wine selection is pretty diverse too. It's generally pricey, but they almost always have some good wine on deep discount.Listed in: Wine in Charleston

The others covered the place well.
My addition is the free wine tastings on Thursdays, 5:30-7:00. Stop in on the way home (get out of that traffic) and try some wines. I've stopped in twice and think they've chosen good wines. One, Apothic Red is among the best blends I've ever had. Their offerings are also reasonably priced, in the $10-15 range. Another perk is that there is a 10% discount on any wine purchase, yes, any, including just one bottle, once the tasting starts.
The store itself is really nice. -

The food was amazing. This was one of the best meals we had on our trip to South Carolina. The store attached was really neat too.
