Good food, drinks, and people.
One of the better spots on the clear lake area for young people.
They have a wide selection of beer and the pizza is pretty good here (it's not New York pizza, but good for Texas). -
Review from Janice M.
i love this bar so much, i bought a house within walking distance. the waiters are friendly, the place is always packed, the beer selection is fabulous, and the bartenders really know what they're doing. it's like the clear lake version of cheers! i have so many awesome memories in this place, can't wait to get my own mug.
the only thing that would really bring boon's up a notch would be trivia and some pool tables.
i recommend the Tejas pizza, and the pizza chips. the free popcorn is awesome too. ask for it spicy! -

Been eating/drinking at this place for about 8 or 9 years. Excellent beer selection, always kick ass pizza baked in a brick oven. Friendly staff, and just overall great place. Wish there were more cool places like this in Clear Lake/Seabrook area, but it makes it a little special being the only one. Only closest thing is Chelsea Wine Bar next door, but probably because it's the same owner.
We really like their brunch on Sundays, you should check it out! -
Review from Farrah A.
"Boondoggle's" is just as much fun to say as it is to actually hang out there. It's a lakeside bar, which I like. Great energy, great crowd and great fire baked pizzas!
They've got a good selection of craft beers. I dabbled around and eventually found a really good Czech brew along with Saint Arnold Santo (highly rec). This place has a mixed feel of a patio bar and a restaurant. There were families inside (yes, even kiddos) and then the after-work happy hour groups like my little entourage - kickin' it outside. And there were lots of dogs, too; love that Boondoggle's is pup-friendly.
Parking is a plenty. Servers were prompt, and did I mention the pizza was good? Don't forget an order of fried pickles and tater skins.Listed in: Clear…

Boondoggle's is a great casual place to grab a few drinks and conversation. I love how it's so spacious, but it gets really packed on a good night! The beer selection is the kind where you'll really need a few minutes to even scan them all, which is always a good sign.
Next time I'll be back for the Pizza! -

Great pub in Seabrook! We went for dinner for my bday. Very casual attire, atmosphere. It was very loud inside. There is outdoor seating as well.
Pizza (the Robusto ) was brick oven and really good. Spinach salad has carrot, tomato, mushroom, pinenuts and their vinagrette. Was really good.
They have a large selection of beer. I tried the Breckenridge Vanilla Porter which was really good. M went with the usual Miller Lite.
Pizza, small salad and 2 beers ran us $25. Great food, service, atmosphere. Place was packed. We will be back. -

I really wanted to give the Boon 5 stars because their food is good and they have a nice selection of beer. Probably the best selection in the Clear Lake area. However, now that places like the Petrol Station have opened up in town, the Boon's selection of beer has become very stagnant. It is very rare to find anything "interesting" on the beer menu anymore, which would make me want to go more often.

The Texjas pizza is bitchin good! Hell yeah! I tried a couple of on taps and sipped some larger brews before heading out. I like the IPA and darker beers. The service is moving a million miles and hour, so get that order in quick and OH, I have to say their fried mushrooms were so not greasy... such goodness! You have to get those and the fried pickles.
Parking is a bitch! The place is packed and you have to walk through the smokers to get to your spot... but, its a pub! -

This is my idea of a waterin' hole.
Big parking lot.
Near the water.
Big beer selection.
Amazing "bar food" (read: pizza)
Why go to Sherlocks or Mollys when this is an option? -
Review from Herman M.

Nice watering hole with good pizza.
The draught beer selection is quite extensive and cosmopolitan in range with a healthy representation by Texas brewers. One would expect the Saint Arnold choices to be greater given their proximity to the brewery, but that was not the case.
The service can leave something to be desired. We went twice during our extended weekend trip and got marginal attention from the beer wenches on both occasions. It seemed that if we were not college kids or lonesome business men, then the service was basic.
During our second visit, we were seated in the fireplace hearth. It was very cozy. The brick walls and projected mantle dampened the noise from the rest of the room quite a bit. Highly recommended for couples looking for intimacy.
One downer was that they floated two beers that were prominently featured. The first was New Belgium 1554, which had just been tapped the night before; the other was Real Ale Full Moon Rye, tagged as "recommended". One would assume the latter to be in abundant supply. I will cut them a little slack on the deficit though, given that it was the last weekend of Spring Break and the place was packed both nights we were there.
Overall an enjoyable pub. The food was good, the atmosphere inviting and the beer selection offered many choices.

Awesome beer!
Awesome food!
Great place to catch up with friends after work.
It does tend to get a bit crowded, but it's totally worth it. -

This is just a review for the new private party room. We came here for a private engagement party; never went in the bar area, just the upstairs private room. Which was REALLY nice!!
You don't even have to go in the bar to get to the private room, you go in the front door and to the left is a cool twisty wooden staircase that takes you upstairs (trust me...be careful going down if you have on heels and have had a couple drinks...unless you have better balance than me! lol).
There is a little bar up there and a private bathroom (score!!) and it's done in wood with about 7 little tables and extra chairs. I'm not sure how many people it's supposed to hold...maybe 50 tops? It's not real big.
They provided the pizza and yes, this is some DANG good pizza!!! Nice crispy crust, lots of interesting toppings and extremely yummy! I would definitely come back for the pizza! Although I'm not sure if they were regular size because of them being catered, but for the prices listed on their website ($10-$12) they were a little small. They were good, but a little small. Or maybe I was just really hungry?
Anyway it's a very cool little private room; if you're in need of one, I would most definitely recommend this one. Oh! And the bartender upstairs (I wish I remembered her name...) was amazing!! She was fantastic and if the other bartenders downstairs are even HALF as good as her then definitely come here for great service! -

Bustling, and lively place.
Parking is pretty bad on the weekends, so be careful.
Great pizza, great wings! -
Review from Jordan M.
Probably the best beer selection in the area. They're a little small, especially the bar area. It's only really crazy on weekend nights - if you go here for lunch, it will be almost empty. The food is pretty much amazing now - the kitchen management has been putting a lot of work into getting short menu with great hits on it, and it really shows. The pizzas are the centerpiece, but the stuffed jalapenos are my favorite.

Great bar/restaurant located right on the water. Was impressed by the beer selection. Didn't get to try pizza this time so I'll have to go back for sure!

Option 1: stay home with a horrible hangover. Option 2: take a day trip out to Kemah with a friend.
I chose option 2 and feel the right decision was made. He lived in Seabrook a few years ago & took me to one of the favorite hangouts, Boondoggles. I already liked it by the name alone because it's fun to say.
It was kind of tricky to get there because it's located on the other side of Kemah, positioned under the bridge. Actually, this would probably be a great place to visit at night because you have a direct view of the boardwalk, docks, and all the boat traffic.
Since we were there on a weekday, it was pretty empty inside & out. Most people were sitting on the patio, which is exactly where we chose to sit overlooking the water. Bench seating, very open patio, and I think have the option to close it in if it gets too windy. Their wait staff was friendly & attentive. The food was good, above average for pub food. I had catfish & veggies - no complaints there. I also ordered a margarita that was so good I ordered another just to make sure.
More than anything I enjoyed the atmosphere. Boondoggles has a real beachy feel to it, more than any restaurant across the waterway. The crowd is more laid back than the Kemah crowd as well. I went casual & felt dressed up. I'll be back next time I'm in the area for sure.Listed in: Fav H-town spots to get my…, ROTD, Feelin' beachy

Boondoggle: from Wikipedia, (project) - slang term for a scheme that wastes time and money
Boondoggle is a simple, extruded plastic lace, many people refer to as gimp! Why, in France, it's called Scooby-doo!
Founded in US Boy Scouts' jargon, or possibly the slang of cowboys, 'boondooggle' is now a useful political term.
Actually, it's a great place to hangout, get a pizza or a calzone and a beer. (Steer away from the limited wine selection.) The seating outside is family friendly during the day/early evening. But it gets crowded on weekend nights. Haven't been for the crab legs and sprimp special on Thurs nights cause I gotta work Friday mornings and that would make it way too difficult to get up! But I heard its good dirty fun. -

I love you crawfish...and they got 'em and they are fantabulous. I love my cajun food and this place brings it good and spicy (well during season). The wood fired pizza looks really good too.
Everytime I come here i see someone i know which is kinda eh, iffy..and this pub gets really crowded on weekends and nights that they offer specials...But i love their beer selection, i like coming here in the 2 months we have cold weather, relaxing by the fire and drinking some woodchuck cider :) -

A great selection of beers on draft, excellent brick oven pizzas (as well as sandwiches, burgers and offerings beyond your standard "pub fare") makes Boondoggles a favorite of mine on Friday after work. The atmosphere is relaxed; we generally sit outside except in the heat of summer, but inside is great too, especially now that is nonsmoking.
Boondoggles manages to be a great after work drinking spot and a family friendly destination at the same time. Throw in food that ranges from good to great and you've got a winner! They added a Sunday brunch about 6 months ago that has become a tradition for our brood. -

This is definitely THE happy hour place for NASA folk -- which is why I usually tend to avoid it during the happy hour. Then again I am low on the totem pole, maybe I should consider going more often...
Boondoggles is really a great place for some pub grub and a few drinks. The food is really outstanding for a pub -- I mean really outstanding -- the pizza is fantastic! They also have a pretty decent beer selection, outdoor seating, nonsmoking inside, and great service.
A few weeks ago I planned a pub crawl/scavenger hunt in the Clear Lake area for my best friend's bachelorette party (we wanted to stay close to home) and we started the night off at Boondoggles. I felt so bad for our waitress -- 7 girls all dressed in matching shirts with bright pink sparkly bags ordering drink after drink and bugging all the patrons -- but she was really great to us and even filled our matching pink water bottles up with ice cold water so we could stay hydrated throughout the evening.
I really like Boondoggles for a nice afternoon weekend lunch. What's better than sitting outside at a wooden picnic table, drinking a beer, eating delicious pizza, and watching whatever sports game is in season on TV? Not much that I can think of. If you're in the Clear Lake area you should definitely check this place out. -

If it's the week before Christmas and you're:
a) dying to run in to people who went to Clear Lake High School
b) looking for a place to grab a Shiner and some pizza
c) watching a big game of some sort and the couch isn't cutting it
...then Boondoggles is the place.
Tucked away at the edge of El Lago and a bit too close to the police station for some people's taste, it's lasted longer than any of its next door neighbors. Always full and fun, this a better option than Sherlock's or Molly's. Then again, maybe I'm biased since it's technically stumbling distance from my parents' house (if it weren't in the 'burbs where no one walks anywhere, that is).Listed in: Hometown Favorites

You have to try the brick-oven Fajita pizza. It has fajita beef and pico de gallo over a black bean sauce, but the kicker: GOAT CHeese!! simply the best.
It's right off the docks and you can sit outside with a great view of the lake if the weather's nice... -

The hoppin Seabrook spot. Great beer and pizza.
Their draft selection has a good round selection and very few crappy domestics.
Go here with friends and enjoy a pint. -

I came here on a Monday after going to two other restaurants that closed on Mondays and I'm glad I found this place. They have a great beer selection that includes dozens of microbrews on draft. The food menu is nice as well and is made of of pizzas, burgers, and steaks. I ordered the Tejas pizza that was topped with chorizo and mouth watering goat cheese on a crisp thin crust. We sat outside on the patio and the service was fast and the waitress was very friendly and attentive.

Perhaps THE best bar I've ever been to, the beer selection is the best around. The drafts are abundant and the seasonal choices are unsurpassed. Their food is oh so very good as well, the brick oven pizzas are cooked to perfection and packed full of flavor. They also have great spinach salads. I also want to note that they make the best White Russians I've ever had. They DO NOT skimp on the alcohol and you get your moneys worth. The customer service is first class on all levels as well, you get well tended to and you'll get a server/waiter with a personality. The prices are great too.

The best bar food and great selection of draft beers! The ambiance of the establishment is very welcoming. The regulars here are very friendly, restaurant has a great waitstaff and food items. We always hit up this place not only for Happy Hour, but their Steak Night. Steak Night is $10.95 with a huge bake potato and a salad bar. I often load up on the lobster bisque when I'm here.

One cold night, 2 girls went driving around the town, came upon this hidden gem. Walked in & to be honest didn't really know what to expect. It was a rustic lil dive. Sat down order the large pepperoni pizza (by the way it was to die for so yum!) & a pitcher of beer. (to be honest couldn't trell you the prices cause it was just so good (sometimes it's not about the money but the quality..just saying) we are training, then the live band starts...all I have to say is it was a great end to a boring night!

I absolutely love Boondoggles. I've been coming down here for about 4 years now and Boondoggles never disappoint. Where else can you find a waterfront restaurant with a great draft beer selection and even better food?
I highly recommend trying any of the pizza's as well as the bruschetta. If the weather is cool enough grab a table outside and enjoy the view while downing a pint of Franziskaner and having a slice of the Mediterranean pizza. -

My cousin has been trying to get me to go out to her house in League City to drive to Seabrook and try this pizza. It's taken a while because I'm a typical lazy ITL girl (In the loop), but I have to say I'm sure glad I did!! I ordered the one with chorizo and I was in hog heaven- or should I say boxer heaven? (Their logo has a boxer on it) The pizza was bubbling with hot overflowing cheese and so much yummy and chewey goodness we all ate in silence! I'll definitely be back for more. Yes, ITLers, it's worth the drive. PLUS it's a cool pub on top of it! I"m not sure how it fared to Ike since I was out there while ago, but if it's open, GO!

I would like to give Boondoggles a 2 thumbs up. My fiance and I went there for their Happy Hour and we sat at the bar. It was a fun experience, the food was great. He had the meatball sandwich and I had a chicken pico de gallo sandwhich which was excellent. I like the cozy, cute home town feel of the restaurant. It is one of the best restaurants that we've found in Nassau Bay area. I like the low key, fun atmosphere. We will definitely be going back.

the tradition continues - great food, great beer, great service!
met with some buddies of mine for our every other tuesday Boondoggle-fest. We started with an order of the fantastic Chipolte wings - on special for $0.35/wing on Tuesday nights - diabolically tasty! Then they had Italian & Turkey Philly sandwiches, fries & slaw, I had the John Dough pizza with sausage & pepperoni, all washed down with excellent St. Arnold's beer (well, okay my Nasa buddy is a teetotaller & was just drinking diet cokes but he still had a great time!). This is a great place!!!1 Previous Review: Show all »

Whenever I come home to see my parents and friends that i have left behind- we sometimes meet here. the bar is airy, the people are nice and the drinks are cheap. It is also an equal meeting point for people in league city and clear lake, lucky for me my parents moved like down the street! I sort of remember annoying bands there, and i would not say it is anywhere near the coolest decor. It is "newish" as almost every single place in Houston is and it is also "campy" or "woodsy". The fireplace makes it campy and the fact it is somewhat near the lake makes it woodsy.

Why do i go to Boondoggles because there's a mug there with my name on it, literally! If you play your cards right you could have one too. They have a great beer selection and with their prices you can even buy a bottle of the good stuff for a special evening. The patio is perfect on a perfect day and the food is delicious. It'll be loaded with NASA types. If you know your stuff you might even spot some astronauts. Hey If it is good enough for the astronaut core I'm sure its good enough for you.

Best beer selection in Clear Lake, great pizza, and the wife likes their salads - so win, win, win. They have an outdoor area that overlooks the water that we like to sit at when it's not 100 degrees out. It's a great place for happy hour or for a relaxed lunch/dinner. So if you like good beer and a laid back atmosphere, Boondoggle's is your place.
