The owner and her mother we're so incredibly helpful and kind!

We stayed there for work and they catered to our very usual requests with nothing but a smile on their face! We had requested breakfast to go for about 12 guests and every morning they hired someone to come in a little earlier then usual and built us wonderful 'to go' packages which we could take and eat in the woods, certainly above and beyond! We had a birthday on our team and the woman is a vegetarian / gluten free lady so they made special cupcakes for her and the team when we ordered lunch from their deli! Just everything was so nice and accommodating. I can't wait to come back.

    Thank you!

I just returned from an amazing weekend at Boon. I really can't say enough about this little place. I have lived in San Francisco for over five years and this was my first trip to Guerneville, which is a very cute town. The hotel has a simple and laid-back but modern and cool vibe and our room even had a fireplace. I loved the thoughtful, surprising details - free bikes to ride into town, honor bar by the pool and breakfast delivered to your door.  Also, the beds were incredibly comfortable (I am justifying a trip back soon to find out what kind of mattress it is!)

Also, we took one of the previous reviewer's recommendations and had dinner at  the hotel's restaurant (Boon Eat & Drink) in town.  Excellent food and wine - on par with other great wine country restaurants. We are still talking about the fried brussel sprouts and the burger with truffle fries. Sinful but well worth it.

Nice little hotel - but I seriously think the term "boutique" is overused in the industry.  When you look at a hotel's website and only see 4 or 5 pictures, one of which is a stock photo of a spa treatment, a little red light in your brain should go off.  I know better, but I was swayed by overly-optimistic Yelp reviews.

    So here's my story:

I emailed a reservation request (didn't hear from anyone), phoned and left a voice message (again, no one called me), and then I called again.  The young man who took my call was pleasant, and my reservation was (finally) set.  Whew.  Our greeting at the hotel was pleasant, as was the introduction to the hotel and our room.  And yes, the room was small - but I knew it would be.  And austere/contemporary/modern (no pictures on the walls, everything white except for a few items splashed in  orange), as a picture illustrated.  But when the employee apologized that the room smelled "a little" like smoke, but that the cleaning crew "aired the room out" - I knew that I was in trouble, as the hotel was totally booked and we couldn't switch rooms.

I didn't sleep much (olfactory power of persuasion), and the employee was surprised but accommodating when I requested a room change the next morning.  Breakfast was simple, but fine.  But don't expect french-pressed coffee, as some reviewers have written about.  The pool area is nice, the hot tub was great, the second room was nice (although it was even more austere than the first room), and I slept well.

Boon is a nice little hotel, but don't expect "boutique" - it's really more like "funky."  Kinda pricey, but for all I know, $195 is the norm for the Russian River Valley.

Boon was my first pick hotel in Guerneville, but we almost didn't book because they don't have online reservations. Thankfully, my girlfriend likes to do things the old-fashioned way and called to reserve us the standard king (room 9).

The place is about a mile from downtown and a really easy ride on the hotel's bicycles. The grounds are serene and peaceful (although there is a nearby road that can be noisy sometimes) and the rooms are modern but cozy. Ours had a fireplace, comfortable bed, back deck with a grassy space and small refrigerator. The heated pool was a great place to spend the afternoon. Breakfast was light pastries and coffee. One morning they also had some of the best fruit I'd eaten in a while.

I'm glad I gave boon a try and I wouldn't stay anywhere else in Guerneville.

A very nice hidden away gem - quite an oasis. Spare rooms, private patios, fireplace, friendly people, tucked away down a quiet road just a few minutes from "downtown".
Don't miss the path that goes up hill through the forest, accessible from the garden.

And if you like the color orange you will be in heaven.

Honey and I celebrated our anniversary here. It was an amazing place, one I almost hesitate to review because I want it to ourselves. The owners Kristen (I believe) and her mom Sue are lovely people.

We had a King Suite, number 7, which is apparently the best room. It's furthest from the road (although I can't say road noise was ever a problem from any aural vantage point at the hotel). It consisted of a living room with a wood stove, fridge & sink, burlwood table (I love those) and chairs, couch, coffee table, wall heater, TV w/DVD (the Safeway on the main strip in town has a vending machine outside with $1 DVDs, BTW). Fire logs supplied nightly. The bedroom had a VERY comfy king bed, great linens, and also a TV (which we didn't use). Sue gave us a small portable heater for the bedroom since nights were cold. Shower was nice and hot and big; no bathtub, no problem; bath linens were so good we want to buy the same ones. Very nice bath products.

Breakfast was perfect. You pick the time (we chose 10:30am, which was still probably too early for a couple of snoozers like us) and Sue comes by with a tray of tasty treats - could be fruit, yogurt, granola, raisin toast, bagels, coffee cake, and always French press coffee (and soy milk for me).

We got 90 min massages in the spa. My masseuse, Kendra, gave me one of the best massages of my life -- and I get alotta massages, so that's saying something. Reportedly, Phil also gives great rub.

There are cruiser bikes with baskets, locks, and helmets available for use, and use them we did, every day, to get to tennis courts, redwoods, cafe, etc. Couple of great dogs cruising around the grounds, including the eponymous Boon. I believe they allow guests' dogs in some of the rooms.

Unfortunately, the jacuzzi had just broken, but in exchange we got a nice discount on an impulse third night's stay. Too cold for us to venture into the pretty pool.

This is a perfect place for a romantic weekend getaway. Can't say enough good things about it.

We also had an outstanding meal at the restaurant, which I'll review separately.

My partner and I went for a mini getaway last weekend. We wanted a break from the city and BOON was just what we needed! :)

The place was very charming with lovely decors (my lovey dovey likes bamboo plants!) The room was warm and cozy with its own fireplace and patio. The bed was inviting... a little too much that we stayed in most of the time!

Pool would have been good if the weather was perfect but i LOVE LOVE their hot tub.

Bicycles are free to use and they have dvd's that you can borrow.

Croissants with jam, yogurt, coffee and OJ for their comp breakfast. NICE!

The only thing that disappointed me (ok, maybe a little!) ... their DVD player didnt work (trust me, i know how to work those things!) and their iHome needs a little jiggle to make your iPod work.

Other than that ... we had a really pleasant experience! :)

I just got back from a bloggers' retreat here, and am daydreaming of the day I can go back my husband or a few really great friends.

Everything was spot-on.  The room was clean and cozy, the provided bath products were lovely, the towels were fluffy, the sheets were crisp.  Even the shower was exceptional.

Since we had taken the place over, we were allowed to break the rules and stay up waaaay late into the night in the hot tub which was heavenly.

Having the dogs around to pet and snuggle made me feel at home (Hi Paris!  Hi Boon!)  Everyone on staff was super friendly, and I really appreciated the eco-friendly touches that didn't skimp on luxury.

    Mixed feelings about boon.

I appreciate the modern aesthetic, and the common areas and landscaping were very nice.  The bedding and bath products were top-notch, the staff were friendly and helpful, and I dig the eco-friendly vibe.

My main concern is that the rooms are basically flimsily constructed cottages overlaid with a thin veneer of design ala Ikea.  Cheap plastic shutters on the sliding doors, thin walls, low-end Berber carpet, economy LCD TV and DVD... They aspire to (and price themselves as) "luxury spa hotel", but it comes off more like the result of applying a "modernism without breaking the budget" article out of Dwell to a tired old motel.  It looks nice, but is mostly superficial.  They're a "young" hotel, and I'm sure the overall renovations were quite costly and budgets needed to be kept in check, but I hope that as the years go on they do some more work on soundproofing and ambience and making the room quality match the prices.

I'd say 3 stars, but the relaxed atmosphere and nice folks inspire me to kick it up to 4 stars.

Modern, beautiful, clean, and comfortable  -- Boon has all the elements of a successful boutique hotel.  FYI, I'm not one of those "rustic" b&b and hotel lovers.  Flowery bedspreads and 70s shag rugs make me shudder.  If you share my intolerance for outdated furnishings, you'll love Boon.

I definitely recommend a stay here when in the Russian River.  It opened not too long ago and is getting lots of press, so book now while they still have vacancies.  Also a +: It's a woman (and queer)-owned business.

Their room rates are comparable with Dawn Ranch and West Sonoma but Boon offers the best value.  It's also hands down the most aesthetically pleasing hotel in the whole area.

Named after the owners' dog, Boon is a lovely retreat of a hotel.  They are in an evolution stage whereas they just opened the previous April to little fanfare but much demand. We were nestled in the cabana "Lucky Thirteen".  All of the cabana style rooms have been redone with contemporary stylings and a fresh, cut look with orange demarking the rooms and spa as well as the hotel itself.

Boon is on the site of a former gay resort at a time gone by of circuit parties and wild revelry that's given way to gay marriage and children's car seats.  Ahh, the times they are a'changing.

Now the pool and hot tube have been resurfaced, no longer the claim of unfettered groping, they are calming and reflective and the purvue of heterosexual and homosexual couples alike.  On Sunday morning they managed to provide a yoga teacher to help us start off the day.  There is a massage therapist also on Sundays and sporadic Saturdays so call ahead.

There is a cost for drinks at the bar but Sunday mornings light contintental breakfast was free of charge.  A more filling breakfast can be found in very nearby downtown that's just a short pedal away on one of their rental bikes that come all gay looking with their wide grip bars and basket.

All in all is a lovely getaway that's just steps away from the state park, the beach and downtown.  If you are looking to get away from it all or just get away for a night, Boon makes it all possible for a decent price.

    Quiet
    Relaxing
    Accommodating

We chose this place after searching through many other bed and breakfasts. Being that Guerneville has been labeled a somewhat gay community, the owner assured us that they were hetero friendly. They indeed were both friendly and accommodating.

While awaiting our trip to California, smoke from fires were encroaching upon our vacationing spots and these owners were more than happy to give us updates on the weather and environmental conditions in the area.

They pointed us in the right direction for great wineries and restaurants alike. As a matter of fact, they even sat up last minute reservations for us
at some of the more popular restaurants. They have bikes that they loan to you which is great because  the town and the redwoods really are close enough to ride to.

I haven't stayed at many places in my time that I haven't had some reservations about, but this place passed every test, its great. A must stay for any wine adventurer in the Russian River area of Sonoma.

We accidentally left half a case of wine and several jars of super-delicious Hop Kiln mustard in our room. When we got back home to Los Angeles, we searched frantically for this case of wine and mustard to no avail. A week and half later, we considered the possibility that we had left it at Boon. "No way!" I said. Sue at Boon had my cell phone number, and considering she had called us on it to inquire about check-in time and to answer my questions about the possibility of getting married at Boon and renting out all of the rooms for a weekend, surely she would have called to let us know that we had left our Sonoma Delights in the room. But "Yes way!" We had indeed left them at Boon--I discovered after emailing Sue. I am still in shock that they didn't call us to let us know. Were they planning on keeping it? I realize that Hop Kiln's mustard is irresistible, but come on. They couldn't contact us as a courtesy to let us know that we left several bottles of wine and mustard in our room? Would they have called if I had left my phone in the room? My engagement ring? It's shocking to me that they sat on our wine and mustard for over a week.

Thankfully, Sue (who is very nice)  agreed to ship us our wine and mustard, and charged us the $47.00 shipping fee. We gladly paid the fee, well we didn't really have much choice because they added it to one of the credit cards I had used to charge the rooms. The wine and mustard was worth about $200 so the shipping fee was worth it, but it would have been nice if they had A) Called my cell when they realized we had left something in the room so we would have had the option of turning around and picking it up on our way out of town. Particularly since we hung around in the area, as many wine tasters do, well after check out; B) Called or emailed within a day or two after we left to inform us that we had left something of value behind; or C) After acknowledging that they failed to inform us and that we had to hunt down the missing wine and mustard ourselves they could have simply eaten the shipping costs (especially since it's clear they had been contemplating eating our mustard!).

We had been really looking forward to staying at Boon, and it was pretty disappointing. We had in fact been scouting it as a wedding venue and were thinking about renting out the entire place for a weekend this Fall, but we can't justify spending that much money on a place that is too cheap to send us mustard and wine. The pool area is lovely, and Boon the dog is a delight. The rooms have some nice features, but I was sort of surprised that our room was billed as a "Deluxe Queen" as it was pretty small and modestly appointed. I can't even imagine what the standard queen must look like. The minimalist decor is a bit sterile. There are better places to stay in the area. However, I do recommend their restaurant. The food is amazing!

I was in the process of writing my own review -- but Erik E. nailed it -- I have re posted his list below:

    ----
top ten reasons you will love your stay here as much as i did. This really could be a top 20 list.:
    1.  a great 1.5 hour escape from the city in a sleepy country town
    2.  the owner jill...a perfect host!
    3.  a late nite dip in the hot tub under the quiet stars
    4.  the golden glow of your own fireplace
    5.  a private balcony where you listen to...silence
    6.  a simple, beautiful breakfast each morning
    7.  a lovely ride on one of orange cruiser bike to hike in armstrong woods
    8.  an absolutely perfect massage from their talented therapists
    9.  the modern, simple, clean aesthetics of the grounds and rooms
    10.  the quick car ride with stunning ocean views to the nearby town of jenner for indian food on the coast
    ----

Also, there is a decent brewery/bar called Stumptown down the road that serves great craft beers.

    Boon is not perfect.

There is no sign to find the reception.  Your first experience there is one of wandering around cluelessly.

    The TVs are really small.

The plumbing is exposed in the room in a not-minimal-cool kind of way.

    The WiFi signal is lousy.

The food quality in town is decidedly lacking.

    Etc.

Yet, Boon is a place where if you can get over all the above and learn to relax, then you can quickly discover that a quest for perfection is just getting in the way of a really good, unique time.

The people who run boon give it there all to make sure that, whatever your situation, you are taken care of.

Just know that this is not a glam place.  Caneros it is not.

boon is a place where you might make friends in a hot tub or over a delicious breakfast.  It is a place where you find yourself rooting for the owners and coming up with ideas on how they can tweak this and that.

    good luck, boon.

Boon is pitch perfect in its well-priced market segment.

Boon is in its first season. The energy and buzz from the owners is infectious, but there are some rough edges which I reckon will be sorted out by season two. These are only apparent because the basics are so so right. this will be a five-star next year.

Foremost among the plus points is a calm, calm atmosphere and a wonderful masseuse: Amy.

The landscaping and planting are young, but will be lovely in a year's time.

Lovely calm rooms. Not large, not small. Tastefully decorated. A 'rushed' quality of some construction (the shower head) means they have a little work to do.

    Very very comfortable beds.

Very friendly dogs.  Everyone was was welcoming to our 1-year old daughter.

Great location for hikers. One mile from Armstrong redwoods where you can picnic among the giants, take a strenous, steep climb or camp in the hills.

Boon is cool. Even though it was raining all weekend, I soaked in the large clean hot tub and kept the sliding doors open to let in the amazing smell of the redwoods. This place is a good value, especially for the king bed, private patio, fireplace and breakfast!

Two reasons why only 4 stars: 1) The massage was disappointing and a bit expensive (it felt uneven, less experienced, and both my partner and I had blurry vision for a half hour afterwards for some reason) and 2) it was difficult to reach anyone when calling the reception office.

Still, you know this place is a work of love by the owners. I will definitely be back.

Sorry to be the first four - they get a six for service and a three for the room.  The breakfasts by the pool were wonderful - french pressed coffee, delish pastries and even a homemade bread pudding that was to die for.  The pool area and landscaping is beautiful and there was such a friendly atmosphere.

The room was disappointing after all I had heard.  It was a king room, but very small.  It was also in the middle so it was distracting having the neighbors walk by late at night. a few feet from the bed (and open door, the only way to get ventilation).  The bed itself was quite comfy.  I would go back but most definitely stay in another room.
    ,
It might be an idea to tier the room rates so at least guest expectations are better set.

Wow I meant to write this review weeks ago, my bad.  The staff at Boon were awesome.  We went for a wedding weekend and took over the compound.  Crista & Jill were fabulous and busted their tailfeathers to ensure that everything for the weekend was perfect and that all the guests (staying & visiting) were well taken care of.

The rooms vary in size and they are still in process of converting all the rooms to be dog-friendly.   We didn't get a chance to take advantage of their spa services, but the pool area and jacuzzi were very pleasant.

We can't wait to return for a weekend getaway.

My husband and I went here last year to celebrate our 3-year anniversary. Jill was a pleasure to work with and she made us feel at home the moment we stepped onto the property.

Boon is a refurbished hotel done in a modern utilitarian style. It's actually a cluster of small cabins split into two rooms each. It's simple, quiet, and very zen-like unless you go on a busy weekend when there's a cycling event going on.

Our room, "Lucky 13" was not very lucky for us. It gets a lot of street noise (it borders a busy street) and it doesn't let up, even at night. I wish they had sound-proofed that room a little more. Other than that, the room was pristine. We loved the fireplace and comfy bed.

In the morning we were greeted on our deck to a scrumptious continental breakfast. You have the option of eating by the pool too. The breakfast was delicious and surprisingly varies if you're there for more than a day like we were. The coffee was perfect.

The location of the hotel is great if you're going to venture out and explore the area. We were actually not that interested in seeing Guerneville (we've done that 100s of times) so we headed out to Healdsburg. We took the inside roads and that was just amazing. I felt like I was in Tuscany!

The best part of Boon Hotel is by far the pool. We lounged all day in the saline pool. They have a great magazine selection, loads of clean towels, and fresh fruit-infused water.

I definitely want to come back, but the price is a little steep for our budget.

The bikes on the premisis was a plus.  We did bring our own helmets.  Too bad the roads were too busy for us to ride to Main Street (especially in the dark)

Yay for Boon!  Yay for lolling by the pool and drinking Boon special cocktails!  Yay for crisp white sheets and simple rooms!

This is not your mother's B&B: no allergen and pot-pourri filled rooms, no too soft beds, no floral bedspreads, no heart-shaped minisoaps and embroidered towels, and no making dreary small talk with Republican dentists over breakfast.  Yay!

Krista was just lovely and seems to genuinely care that you're having a good time.  She creates a wonderfully friendly, laid back, and convivial atmosphere.  Boon is one cute dog.

We were the only guests at the hotel on a Tuesday night and it was very nice. The place is elegant simple. Extremely friendly! Genuinely friendly! Could not ask for more on that front. We swam in the pool (lovely), played Bocce ball and had lots of fun. The morning french press coffee was excellent.

The place is a solid 3 in my book for value.
    So, what's missing?

Well, it would have been a 4 or 5 if it was a short walk to some town, river or hike trails - or if it had some view. I live in the city and like to walk to places without a car. I know, that is a personal preference, but then again so is this review. The room size was a little tight and it didn't help that I had to duck down to fit under the shower head. OK, the last one is really minor - but it all adds up, or subtracts in this case.

Maybe it is a 4 instead of 3
People were extra friendly, and that is worth an extra star.

A+ on service! The owners are way accomodating working their behinds off and it shows. The rooms are cute, having been updated from two former hotel incarnations prior. The setting is peaceful with a green area framed by palm trees and redwoods.
On the summer weekend the pool and hot tub was filled with people who were cheerful. The bar by the pool is the office, drink station and breakfast bar. Wifi & morning coffee are included. I recommend boon.

When looking for an escape from Xmas in the city, a friend and I were lucky to stumble upon Boon.   We had the choice between the Farmhouse Inn and Boon, and I'm glad to say we choose Boon.

I'll echo the key points mentioned by previous reviews, as they are spot on:
    1) Krista and Jill are two of the most genuinely nice people I've met, let alone small business owners.  So what you say?   Read on!
    2) The food and winery recommendations Krista and Jill provided were fantastic, and well-suited towards our tastes.
    3) Krista offered to call wineries/restaurants for us to ensure they were open around the holidays
    4) Great bath products, clean rooms, and breakfast in bed!
    5)  Biking over to the Armstrong Woods and hiking around was easy and amazing
    6)  Hot tub was great in the winter, the pool area would be great in the summer
    7)  Affordable

The location isn't great if you want easy (i.e., walking distance) to great food, or wineries.  However, if you want to feel a bit tucked away within a 15 minute drive of incredible food and wineries, and walking distance to Redwoods, this is the spot.

On an unrelated note, the various bars, pubs, and locals make Guerneville a fun place to tuck away to.  Especially on Xmas.

Krista and Jill have exciting plans for this quaint space, and I plan to return.  Soon.

Do yourself a favor and check out this bastion away from the city, and support two incredible business owners.

    Thanks again!

Our first trip to Guernville was full of "interesting" moments but our time at Boon was far and away my favorite part of the experience.

Pool side breakfast, in room fireplace, resident dogs and a great massage - all part of a genuinely relaxing few days.

We were a little apprehensive when we drove up - the exterior isn't much to look at - but as soon as we walked down the flagstone footpath into the immaculately landscaped courtyard our fears were set aside.  The solar heated pool is small but lovely with a fully stocked honor bar and a nice hot tub.  The rooms were clean and elegantly simple with all the necessities and none of the clutter that many bed and breakfasts mistake as charm.

It is a bit of a walk to the restaurants and bars on the main drag but the loaner bikes made it easy to get back and forth.  One minor complaint - the handle wraps had melted a bit and were super sticky.

All in all it was a great few days - I'll certainly stay again.

Nothing bad to say about this place, we had an awesome time!
My husband and I spent our 10th anniversary here and it was so relaxing.  From the gourmet breakfast that was delivered to our room each morning, to the in house massage, to the bike rental, $5 a day and the awesome pool.
The owners were away and the mother Sue, was looking after the place when we stayed and she was a doll! We spent time chatting to her and she shared her wine and cheese platter with us and our neighbors, but she was not intrusive at all.
We rode to Armstrong woods which was very close by and had a picnic there.  The music by the pool was mellow and the firepits were a nice touch.
Definately a place for adults and couples, or mellow families.

This is NOT the Triple R.  We like to drink at the Triple R but Boon is an oasis is the Russian River.  Owners Crista and Jill treat you like old friends.  The rooms are amazing--San Francisco elegance meets forrested rustic charm.  Forget what the stereotype is about gay girls having no style!

The pool overlooks a forrested hillside.  Cottage bungalows dot the surrounding landscape which benefits from somebody's foresight to have plant plam trees years ago.  By virtue of being in Guerneville, Boon has a large gay following; however, this place is welcoming to everyone.   At the poolside Wine Country wine tasting and complimentary cheese hour I noticed the guests were a sophisticated eclectic mix.  Most were City dwellers like me and my partner looking for a weekend get away.

They have a professional massuese--make sure you ask when making reservation b/c she is so good that other hotels are refering guests to Boon for massage and wine tasting.

Also be sure to ask Jill for dinner recommendations.  Guerneville is notorious for having AWFUL food. But Jill told me she enjoys exploring the hidden gems in the area and she sent us to a nearby Thai restaurant that rivals anything SF has to offer.

    We will defenitely be back.

Headed to Guerneville / Boon for a weekend getaway from SF. Goal was to relax and to do very little. Mission accomplished. The hotel was a very cool / unique place and the owners were very nice and hospitable. Highlights included spacious, clean and modern (aka Ikea) rooms, nice healthy breakfast delivered to our private deck and a perfectly heated hot tub next to the pool.

Boon provided cool orange cruiser bikes that we rode about a mile up the road to Armstrong Woods for a little stroll through the redwoods and then into town for some chowder and sandwiches at the local diner.

All in all, a great place to relax for a weekend. I'd definitely go back.

It's not easy striking that perfect balance between sleek (mid century decor/ipod docking stations), green (sustainable materials and organic linens), and warm (intimate setting).  Boon does it just right with great touches like breakfast brought to your room and cruisers to pedal into town.

The hot tub and massages are definite attitude alchemy. And all the more relaxing at a way better price than other spas in the area.

A big plus is Boon is close to town (very bikeable) but not too close. Personally, I like going to Guerneville for the wineries and river but like a bit of peace and quiet in the evening.

And of course, Boon the dog is the best feature!

    Pluses:
    - Stunning grounds and landscaping
    - Nice, clean, modern aesthetic
    - Eco-conscious facility (from the type of products used in the rooms, to the compostable materials, to the saline pool and repurposed furniture, it's clear that they did what they could to incorporate eco-friendly values into the planning of this facility)
    - "Mascot" dogs that belong to the owners. For people like me who really miss having a dog, it was fun to have Boon, Paris, or Hudson greet me as I came back to my room and I loved having them around to pet or play with.
    - Tasty baked goods, yogurt, fresh fruit, and artisan coffee available for breakfast (and Sue makes a killer cup of joe!)
    - Bikes for use (free)
    - Lovely patios off the rooms
    - Robes in the bathrooms!  Why don't more hotels offer these??  It's such a nice convenience.
    - Convenient (walking or riding distance) to downtown area of Guernville, the river, and Armstrong Woods. Great launching point for the coast, Sonoma, Healdsburg, and RRV wineries.
    - Great overall vibe.  It seems like all of the people who stay here are very friendly and sociable.

    Drawbacks (minor):
    - Our room didn't have a dresser and so we essentially lived out of our suitcases.  We did have a clothing rack, but it would have been nice to have a little something extra.
    - Our room was right next to the reception area and let me tell you, there are some early risers who go on vacation out here!  I am not one of them, so it wasn't particularly great to be awakened by conversations outside my door very early in the mornings.
    - All of the bikes are one size.  Perhaps I'm asking too much, but I wish they had one for "little people" (I'm 5'2"). It would have been nice if I could have actually used one of the bikes.
    - It would be nice to have a hot breakfast option, but they don't really have the facilities for this.

All that being said, this was a fantastic place to stay.  I might have given it 4 stars, but Sue, the mother of one of the owners, made this a 5+ star place to stay.  She is SO hospitable, fun, and hard-working! She will help you find places to go based on your interests, recommend local places to visit, check on you on a regular basis, and will even sit and chat with you for a while (she's really fun to talk to).  I can't believe how hard she works, yet she's always in a great mood and such a welcome face to return to at the end of the day.  I'll definitely return here whenever I have the chance to take some time off again.

Ahhhhh I'm so relaxed.  What a nice, relaxing experience.  They even let me hang out at the pool for a couple hrs...  I probably could have stayed longer but I didn't have time.  I got to meet Boon himself, the dog.  Such a sweetie pie.  The grounds are beautiful and tranquil.  My masseuse, Barbara, was wonderful and accommodating.  Next time I'll bring my lunch (try out the Boon restaurant) and eat by the pool.  The surrounding rooms looked really cute and classy.  If I was from out of town, I'd stay here.

so we went back to the boon hotel + spa for memorial day weekend may 2010.

    still as good as ever.

i am in love with their mattresses - i am going to order one for home.  no joke.  love the EO mint grapefruit products.  i use it @ home and it takes me back to the boon every time i smell it.

had a wonderful massage as well.

love the fact that there is such a diverse group of peeps that have discovered it.  makes conversation around the pool and hot tub very interesting.

an added addition?  boon + restaurant.  see my separate review for it.  in a word?  amazing.  we ate there every meal except for 1 over the course of 4 days!

tried to get back in to the hotel a couple of different times over the summer but they were booked up!  so try and plan as early as you can for reservations - especially in the summer season.  the pool rocks.

plus there is paris (i have a soft spot in my heart for westies) and of course the lover dog boon himself.

    can't wait to go back.

I love this place, for so many reasons. Even though we had to endure a day of major road construction outside of the hotel, and the overwhelming smell of tar in 100+ degree weather..I still left loving the place.  By far the best thing happening in Guerneville, accompanied by the sister restaurant Boon Eat  + Drink.  Nice people, nice rooms, decent price.

I found this place online when looking for a good hotel in Guerneville.  It has a totally relaxing spa-like atmosphere, and its redwood surroundings lend a nice freshness to the air.  My partner and I went on the last weekend in January during a heatwave, so sitting by the pool for a couple of hours each day was just what we needed.  There's a nice hottub next to the pool which was a great addition.  The owners are friendly and during the winter bring breakfast to your door.  We'll definitely go back.

Excellent service and quality, especially for the cost. The landscaping is awesome, and it's the pool is great for lounging (plus they serve drinks at the pool!). Hot tub is always a plus, especially when you're surrounded by gorgeous redwoods. And their hot tub is open until midnight - score! As the other reviews mention, the place is modern and new. Great location near the Russian River.

Boon is the best in Guerneville. I would have given it 4.5 stars but Yelp can't do half stars.

I fell in love with this place starting with the website. Good marketing goes a long way. It's tucked away from the main street of Guerneville and  is close to the hills and big redwoods. Cottages are cute and all centered around the pool and jacuzzi. Everything is modern and simple. Not overdone. Our bed was plush and very comfortable. They are big on eco-friendly products as well. Our room was spacious and if you go during the winter, they have a fireplace. Our room had a patio in the back too, but we spent most of our time at the pool. The only deduction I gave was on the size of the shower in the bathroom. It was teeny tiny and my husband kept banging his elbows on the knobs and hanging basket holding the soap. The other partial deduction would probably be the noise. Which wasn't horrible but the first night we slept with our sliding door open for the breeze and the people in the jacuzzi kind of were noisy. But they do offer ear plugs in each room and the people quieted down at a reasonable hour. It was better the second night.

They serve a light breakfast in the mornings by the pool. Coffee, OJ, teas...One morning it was baked goods and fruit. Another morning bagels and all the fixings.

The owners (mother/daughter team) are so welcoming and accommodating. Boon, the namesake dog, does his job being adorable, but definitely has his priorities set on his frisbee.

I would highly recommend a stay here. It's a great value and relaxing getaway. And they're dog-friendly!

Way over priced... this is Guerneville people, not Napa, not Healdsburg, not even Sonoma. One of the first things I do when reading yelp reviews is to check if the reviews have been reviewed by the people getting reviews. In this case most of the reviewers are friends of the owners, this make for a lopsided rating. Don't waste your money, stay somewhere else!
