2 reviews for Boomtown Casino & Hotel
I have to preface this review by saying that Shreveport/Bossier is NOT Las Vegas, and I give Boomtown 4 stars based upon my expectations that it's *NOT* Las Vegas.
This was my second visit to the hotel and casino, and both were nice. The hotel is clean, comfortable, and overall a good value. I'd rate the hotel itself 3 stars... nothing too fancy, but good enough.
The casino is average size for the area, and being a riverboat, they actually cram a fair amount of table games and slots into a small space. The smoke isn't overwhelming, which was a good plus. The odds on the slots seem fair... unlike places I've been like Charlestown WV and Foxwoods, getting most of your money back isn't out of the question.
The real gem is the steakhouse, 1800 degrees. The steaks and crab legs are fabulous. The king crab legs were advertised as 2 lbs... which was an outright lie... it was closer to 4 lbs! Everything was delicious.
And... if you gamble, chances are, like ours, your second trip will be comped. We had 2 free hotel nights, free dinner at 1800 degrees, and some cash to gamble with to boot.

I can't even say how much I HATE this place!
My mom, friends of the family and I went here on a weekend getaway. This was one of my friends first time to go gambling so it was extra special.
Well we went here to gamble and the casino is OK at best. I prefer horseshoe or Diamond Jacks hands down!
After a few hours of gambling we decided to go eat but we didn't want to eat buffet so we went to the other sit down restaurant at Boomtown.
The food was ridiculously priced! I thought casinos wanted you to spend money gambling!!!! I had the fried catfish which tasted a little off to me but whatever. We waited for fifteen minutes just to get the check! When we finally did we learned that we had to go to the front to pay!
Oh lord give me strength because these people were the rudest I've ever encountered. We gave them a credit card to pay for the meal and signed the copy and went on our way. The cashier came running after us screaming at us that we didn't finish paying for our meal. By that time everyone and his mother were starring thinking that I was doing the dine and dash. Apparently our card was wrung up wrong and in the confusion we got charged twice for the meal. I didn't figure this out till I was home and back in Texas.
Oh and did I mention that I got food poisoning from the meal? No wonder the catfish tasted funky!!!!
It took two weeks to get hold of anyone to complain and get a refund back.
I will never be back to this place! BEWARE!!!
