Review from Pyke D.
Waterbury, CT
"It's Saturday night, I have no date, a two liter bottle of Shasta, and my all-Rush mix tape. Let's rock!"
I'm going to pretend that the reason I went to Boomer's because my little cousin wanted to go. In reality, I went for myself, because I am a Judd Apatow manchild.
The Go-Karts were pretty average, but the line was quick enough, and the price cheap enough, that a few rides to determine who the best is were easy to do.
The minigolf course was surprisingly good, except for one of the holes, which jumped over the river: At least 5 people lost their ball to the lake before we'd gotten there, and then 2 of our party did as well. But other than that one hole, it was quite a bit of fun. There's also two different courses, but the time spent on doing both would mean less time for the other stuff, eg the arcade.
The arcade at boomers, for me, is the equivalent of a casino for a 70 year old retiree with a fresh pension check. Pretty much every game I would want in an arcade is here; from Guitar hero, to Cruis`n USA,to Galaga. Yes, hidden in the very middle is a neglected Galaga machine. In addition, you could also spend your cardmoneys on token machines, if you want prizes, or if you're like me and like to make some little kid's day by donating them a few thousand tickets.
The prices aren't the best, but if you go as a group and get the highest priced ticket grouping, it cuts the prices in half. And that's enough arcade time to make any geek happy. And to anyone who is afraid of looking stupid: They serve beer, too. -

Boomers Rox!
The mini golf is great.
The Go Karts are great.
The rock climbing wall is great.
The whole concept of playing games for money to win tickets to get .......crap is actually gambling for kids and it's impossible for a parent to go there with two kids and not drop a c-note .
When we go. I tell them. We ride the Go Karts. We play mini golf. We eat one churro each. Then we go.
If they don't agree we go somewhere else. Like the BEACH! I mean it is Florida right? -

It's very loud inside but it has a very wide range of arcade games to choose from. The prices are a bit high and the prizes for tickets are on the cheaply made side.
There's a laser tag area that's a lot of fun. The mini golf is great and my favorite part of the place.
There's batting cages as well, though I've not used them before. It's open 24 hours so you can waste time anytime.
In general it's a good place for the kids and to spend some time having mindless fun. -

What can you say about Boomers that's good? The birthday party staff was pleasant and helpful. Security is limited, including entry into most of the outdoor area through a gate that should be closed and has no security camera that would allow just about anyone to walk off with a kid does not make me feel particularly comfortable about having my kids wander through there anymore. There are few or no staff on the game floor either to watch the goings-on. The place ranges from dirty to adequate. The repair of the golf area and other areas is marginal at times. All in all, pricey and not worth the safety risks.

We wanted to play mini golf and video games, so this is where we came. The place was not jam packed with people for a Saturday afternoon. You win and you lose on the games. You get tickets for prizes and you can snack on munchies during your visit. Be prepared to drop some bucks if you can't stop trying to beat the hell out of a game.
Listed in: Group effort.

They must be doing something right, because the lazer tag had an hour wait, and the go karts were about a half hour. The go kart was actually kinda cool, with a lot more than the standard oval track, which is what I figured Floridians would be into...
The video games were hit and miss. I played some shooting game where the gun had a broken front, and caused the aim to flutter all over the place, which was really annoying. I felt cheated. I have no idea if game their selection is any good, as I don't keep up.
What little bits I had of the food were pretty average. Nothing you'd write home for, but sometimes you need that sugar or caffeine fix. -

This is a fun place to spend a lot of time (and money). I hadn't been here in years, but came up yesterday with my boyfriend so we could spend some time out of the house.
A few games in the arcade area were broken, while some others might as well have been because they were in poor shape (the jetski one was awful). But we had fun playing against each other on a lot of the games, and won tickets from skee ball. We went to see what prizes we could get for our whopping 64 tickets, and managed to score a finger trap, plastic frog, pirate eye patch, and some tootsie rolls. The girl behind the counter looked miserable... actually, all of the employees did. I guess it didn't help that no one was manning the main ticket counter, so the snack counter people had to do it all. They didn't look amused.
We went outside to play a round of mini golf. The previous review that mentioned the poor condition of the golf course was spot on. I had last been here back in 2002 or so and was rather surprised to see how deteriorated they had let it get. Many of the holes had torn or worn-down greens, and they had just given up on about half of the course entirely and stopped having water run through it (which actually came in handy since we had to climb in there to retrieve our errant balls, which had gone into where the water once was, due to a fence that had missing panels). It's too bad, it used to be such a nice course.
We then went to go on the go-karts. We decided to just do a doubles one since the passenger was free. We get up to the gate and the guy tells us he has to charge for the passenger since I'm an adult and not a child. Nowhere on any of the signs in the building does it say you have to be a child. There's a height minimum, but no maximum, and no age limit listed, and all of the signs say the passenger rides free. The guy called his manager over who told us the same thing. Fine, we don't mind paying for me to ride my own go-kart, but change your signs because they're misleading. Anyway, the go karts were fun, and I won against two guys (my boyfriend and another guy), so that made me happy ;)
It was a fun couple of hours and I'm glad we went, but the place was just okay and really needs some improvement, both in appearance and equipment.Listed in: Place to go, things to see in…

I like Boomers for what it is . . . a place for my kids to run wild, blow off a lot of steam and have a blast -- which is exactly what we did the other night.
This is a great big facility . . . pretty well kept clean and organized it seems. There are a great amount of video games, action games, air hockey, and even mini-bowling. We even enjoyed the mini-golf where we played 18 holes. Although the course isn't anything terribly special, they do have a great big waterfall and water hazards (yes, I hit my ball into the water a number of times), but my kids loved it and that's all that mattered.
They also have bumper boats with water canons that looked like a blast and even go-karts. They have a small concession stand where you can indulge in simple kid fare (hot dogs, hamburgers, slushies and ice cream), and of course games of chance where you get rewarded with kid currency (i.e. tickets) -- of which my little boy hit the jackpot on in one shot for a total of over 500 tickets.
The nice part was it was fairly quiet there as we went in the middle of the week -- even though it was spring break. Note, bring lots of cash (or plastic), as this place is not cheap, but your kid(s) will have a blast. -

I used to be subjected to watching my friends play Dance Dance Revolution here while waiting for a movie or...just waiting. So sweaty...The car would smell like a gym on the way home. Gross.
Anyway, I guess if you need to kill 20 min. before a movie you could go here. -

We loved this place! We were on vacation and it was raining so we decided to check it out. For $25 we mini-golfed and played about 10 arcade games, everything was really fun and in OK shape. Wish we had a place like this in Boston!

Three and a half stars was perfect rating. Crowded it was probably the coldest day in South Florida in 20 years. Pretty good arcade we has a10$ off coupon. $5 a kid not bad. You can climb walls, go carts, laser tag.the coupon was from the entertainment book.

This northern exposure of Boomer's (this is in boca, not dania) is really cool! Go carts are fast-fast-fast! Not much on food, so if you forsee yourself starving it may make sense to bring in a bento box or feast on the snack bar's candy, popcorn, junk for your trunk! Write me if you need a co-pilot or a galaga nemesis!

Perhaps lots of people don't very excited about miniature golf, but those of us who find it a fun activity with our kids or grandkids will be terribly disappointed with the dismal condition of "the course" at Boomers. Most of the club heads are broken and the "greens" are shabby and torn. These courses need a major makeover. What a comedown from its early days.
The go carts seem o.k. and, based on the line to snag one, must be pretty good.
Lots of games, but with a wii at home, not all that exciting considering the prizes (when I was there last, did not see any lava lamps!).
