The BF and I stopped in on the way back from Humboldt. We were starving and we chose this place out of the three that seemed available. We ended up having a great time! A lot of small town bars can be awkward as they don't like tourists. This place was the exact opposite. We walked in during the last 5 minutes of the 49er game and everybody was in great spirits. We scored some seats at the bar and the lone bartender came over and made us feel right at home. We met a few friendly local people that made us feel welcome as well!
Bonus that they have Racer 5 on tap - gotta love that. We both ordered cheeseburgers - his with onion rings and mine with French fries. He asked for his to be cooked med-rare and like mine, it came out well done. Being that we are in a bar known more for being a bar and not a restaurant, we decided not to judge too harshly. Fries and rings were tasty!
Ambiance was a comfortable, clean and a a nicer bar- it's not a dive if that is what you arel looking for. Overall we had a great time and would go back again! -

Bikers, country music on the jukebox, speed tv showing drag races on the big screen, great archival photos of logging and life in the area in the 20s and 30s on the wall, lackadaisical service and great burgers all make for an 'interesting' experience on the nine hour drive south from Gold Beach Or to Oakland CA.
Lots of authentic charm and not much bullshit...... -

Terrible service, less than mediocre food, Definitely would not recommend this place for more than getting drunk.

On our way up to Humboldt County last week, my family and I stopped here for lunch. We were not sure what to expect going into a place that resembled a Saloon but it was a pretty good experience!
The place is pretty big and is definitely more of a bar then a restaurant. In the middle is the bar with a huge TV and then bar stools around with tables scattered through out the restaurant. They also have a big fireplace. The place was a bit old but the tables and chairs were functional.
Service was really nice by our waitress and our drinks and food came out quickly and promptly. I ordered the French dip sandwich that came with fries. For $6.95 I could not complain...what a deal! The prices here are definitely a good price considering what you get. Everyone else got salads and sandwiches with fries and were pleased with their food.
I definitely would come back here on the way up to Humboldt County again. Also FYI....there is a sign out front not allowing anyone 21 and younger inside. I am not sure if this pertains to the restaurant section as well. -

"Fine Food" is an obvious overstatement.
That said, Boomer's should be approached not as a fine dining experience, but as what it actually is: a roadhouse in the middle-of-nowhere on Highway 101. When stopping there for a break from driving, you can get a satisfactory meal; a drink, utilize the restroom, and watch whatever is on the big screen while sitting shoulder to shoulder at the huge bar with middle-of-nowhere type 'folk'.
Don't expect amazing food, or more than one micro brew available, but do be thankful that you have an option other than sucking down a big mac and fries while traveling up 101. -

Nice Bar! Bartender acted like she didn't want to be there. I'm sure they have better ones that work differen't hours, but this one needs to go to school on treatment of customers. If you are looking for a friendly atmosphere and she is working this is not the place to go.

I like rednecks and loggers. Even the disassemble-your-truck-as-soon-as-look-at-it cranked out cooter variety, providing they're courteous. I do find, though, that I tend to agree with the aesthetic of those among these groups who are of an older, poorer bent.
This place screams young redneck with money. The logging photos along the walls are really interesting and cool. The decor? It Sucks. It's like a hotel, only somehow more boring. The bar is HUGE, enough to trawl you some drunken, awkwardly eye-contact seeking stares across it no matter what you do or who you look like. The Ford F-650 grade plasma screen television blaring out NASCAR races doesn't help, nor do the few sympathetic, kindly older dudes in camo vests who know the bartender well enough to bellow out her name in order to get you a beer when it becomes apparent that she's preoccupied with an appeasement strategy she's decided to deploy on the difficult horny drunk guy with the I-have-probably-buried-people-like-you-out-Spyrock glower across the bar. For their part the bartender/owners seem pretty chill, no-bullshit (they kicked some hippie chick out of the bar while we were there because she had been hanging around too long being... unhygienic or something)-- and I respect that-- but it does not save this place from being a black hole of too-clean, soul-sucking despair.
If you want a REAL bar, go to the Golden West in Fort Bragg. -

I was on my way to Oregen, and stayed the night in Laytonville. I was really hungary and came accross this saloon looking steakhouse. Only they didn't have steak. What they did have was the best chicken ceaser salad I ever had in my life. For that I give them a 5star. Also the service was very sufficient and there was pics of the history of the town on the wall
