I've heard so much about this place that I had to make it a #1 priority on my last trip to Jacksonville. I'm probably biased because I love anything Hawaiian, but I think Boom's lived up to its hype.

The owner was sitting down with customers at another table keeping conversation, proving that in this place, you really are family. I asked for chicken katsu, even if it wasn't on the menu, and they were more than happy to make it for me. Admittedly, I have had better katsu, but it wasn't bad. The portions here are bigger than other places I've been to, and for the same price, so that's definitely a thumbs up.

Hawaiian family running a Hawaiian restaurant means authentic food & aloha spirit.

I love the decor, and the waitstaff were very friendly and greeted us right away.  It was   way too cold inside, so we opted to sit outside.  I was hoping for some hawaiian music and some plants to make the outdoor feel more inviting, but I created my own party and turned on some Hawaiian music on Pandora :P  In regards to the food... Well, I guess I shouldn't have went there with high expectations.  I got the Loco Moco -- the rice was too mushy like they either added too much water or they didn't finish waiting for the rice to cook; the meat didn't have a lot of sauce; the slice of spam was yummy (probably b/c I like spam so much); and the mac salad was ok.  I liked the mango tea.  Obviously from the reviews, many people like this place, so I need to come back and try some other dishes before I can give this place more stars.

Pricing is decent. We had a lot of food for the ohana family special. They have daily specials which make it appealing. Service was good and Friendly. I was diggin the tropical mango iced tea. I would def come back to try other things on the menu. If you have a Hawaiian food fix in Jax, then this is the place to go.

I am happy that there is finally a Hawaiian restaurant in the area. This restaurant has taken the place of the old Tijuana Flats. The place is very clean and the interior is brightly painted.  There is enough space on the inside for large groups.  They are more than happy to slide together as many tables as you want to make it like a huge family meal.  The place is run by a Hawaiian family so you know the food is authentic.  All of the employees are friendly and helpful.

The menu offers breakfast, lunch, and dinner items.  All of the items can be ordered any time....I happen to be a fan of breakfast at odd times of the day so this is a plus.  My faves right now are the Loco Moco and the hawaiian bread french toast.  The teriyaki short ribs are not bad either.  Most of the lunch and dinner entrees come with the customary sticky white rice and macaroni salad.

After the purchase of 10 entrees you can join the "Hang Ten Team" and have your caricature drawn on the wall.  Kind of a unique way to recognize the regulars!  I like the fact that this spot is only a minute away from my favorite Hawaiian Ice spot...Ohana!

Be sure to check out the "specials" board as they offer up items that are not on the regular menu.

Heard this place opened in august so I decided to try. I've been waiting for a Hawaiian spot to open in Jacksonville for the longest time. As soon as I walked in I was immediately greeted with a smile. Very friendly service :) the decor was colorful, beach-y, comfy and clean. Also if you buy 10 entrees you have an option to have your face drawn on their wall or a free t shirt. Thought that was cool..

Anyways ,as I scanned the menu, I was hoping to find spam masubi or katsu chicken. Unfortunately it was no where to be seen (sad face). Couldn't quite figure out what I wanted so I decided to get the boom Shaka laka platter. It comes with two scoops of mac salad, rice, short ribs, chicken, pulled pork, one slice of spam and a Hawaiian roll. Disappointed they didn't serve it island style, yunno.. Two boobs of rice and one scoop of mac salad, Oh well, I'll get over it. The pulled pork and ribs were so good.. Tender.. Full of flavor!

However.. The mac salad was mushy and bland. All i tasted was mayo and pepper. Blah! The chicken was bad bad bad! It was the frozen kind of chicken, looked like Tyson chicken with the fake grill marks on it. FAKE GRILL MARKS!!! YUCK!!! I felt, at one point, I was eating bad cafeteria food. I would think they'd at least use the real thing. How much does real chicken cost anyway? I don't think they should skimp out on quality ingredients to save a buck. I mean seriously if the food served is Ono.. People will keep coming no matter what. I hate leaving bad reviews but I just expected it to be ONO KINE GRINDZ.

I really hope they do something about their chicken.. please fix it!! I really want to like this place, i really do. I miss Hawaiian BBQ, you just don't know! On a positive note, thanks for adding variety to the JB/AB scene. Til next time Boom Shaka Laka.. . Keep it up!!

Awesome Hawaiian style food! Great flavors here and a uniquely stylish cafe inside. The Da Moke pulled pork is second to none.

I'm not sure how long this place has been open, a few weeks I think but this was my first time trying it tonight. My cousin and I went there for a girls night out to catch up over dinner. I've heard good reviews from other friends who recently ate here which added to me wanting to try it out. I ordered the Boom Teriyaki Cheeseburger and my cousin got the Pulled Pork. As always when we try a new place, we had a bite of each other's food. I must say that both dishes were delicious! My burger was very juicy and tasted sooo good! Along with the fries and the macaroni salad, it was just enough for both of us. We had room for dessert and so we got the deep fried twinkies and deep fried oreo cakesters. Once again, we shared and both desserts were delicious! Especially since this the first time that both of us had tried any type of snack deep fried. The staff was very friendly, especially our waitress. We had a great experience and would go back for more!
