Review from Roy L.
I've been here for dinner three times thanks to the http://Restaurant.com certificates.
The service is usually good and the drinks are decent. They bring out complimentary bread that's standard, nothing special. I few 2 waitresses with deep Italian accents which I guess added to the authencity of the place, ha.
I had the farfelle, seafood linguini, and lobster ravoli. All were good, though the pasta is usually undercooked here for some reason.
My wife's entrees were good as well. The creme brulee is above average.
The place is a nice size and seems to draw a good crowd. They offer live music so i'll come back here for happy hour and hang out afterwards for an evening. Not the best Italian but a well-rounded place of food, drinks, and entertainment. -
Review from Diane Z.
Came with a Dealist for a four couse meal with wine pairings. The waitress seemed to get a bit meaner after she found out that we had a deal. Hate that shit! Why offer a deal if you're going to be a bitch about it?!
Anyway, it was overall ok. The waitress made us wait for her to print out the special dealist menu even though they had noted it in the reservation, so it should have been ready. There were also no choices with this menu, you just got what they wanted to give you. It would probably be a problem for people with allergies and things, but I was ok with it.
The first course was a puree soup. It tasted like a thick, zesty, bowl of mush.
The second course was a home made pappardelle with mushrooms and truffle sauce. This was actually the best thing of the night and why I gave this place three stars. If you must come here, get the home made pasta!
The third course was a very thin, low quality rib eye with mushrooms. It definitely should not have been called a rib eye, but just a piece of beef.
The last course was a tiramisu that was not particularly good, I would say just edible.
The wine pairings were great though! The last course came with a limoncello instead of wine, but whatever. I was pretty tipsy by the end of the meal, so it wasn't a horrible meal.
Overall, I most likely would not come back willingly. The pasta was good, but you can get that at a bunch of other places in the city. -

New York, NY
I haven't back here for over 7 years, since C and I came here for lunch.
I can't remember what exactly we ate, since I don't think I would ever have come here for food, if it wasn't due to a time crunch.
A and I were trying to get out of the cold and A didn't want to travel far, so Boom appeared and we decided to come here for some drinks.
A got wine, I believe and I got my fruity cocktail - Berry.
I want to say this drink was absolutely delicious...fresh fruit and so damn good.
A loved it too and decided we should eat here too.
I told A I don't remember this place being good for food and I rather eat somewhere else....so we did.
4 Stars is just for the BERRY drink. -

We liked this so much we went twice.
Great food and excellent service with live music as well.
Waiter was slightly too keen on second visit but still great fun! -

If I could rate Boom a 4.5 on Yelp I would. I love this little restaurant. Great food, live music and a classy yet Bohemian atmosphere. I've been here at least twice, each time the food and overall experience was excellent.

We were visiting NYC and walked past Boom on our way to another restaurant. Somehow my friend talked me into going in, even though it just didn't seem like someplace that was going to lead to a memorable dining experience. Boy, was I wrong! We only have one meal to go off of (the Pappardelle pasta dish with marinara-cream sauce that we both ordered), but it was honestly one of the best meals I've ever had!!! I asked for it with extra cheese and my friend got it just the way it comes. Both of us were savoring every bite, and I seriously would have considered getting a second bowl of it if I wasn't already stuffed! I don't think either or us spoke once the pasta hit the table, as it was truly incredible! We would recommend that you go elsewhere for dessert, as the banana split just didn't seem to be their specialty, but the pasta was so unique that I can't wait to go back!

I have been here many times over the past 10 years. The food has always been great, and the decor of the restaurant is very nice too. It seems to attract a 30-40 something European crowd, and the bar area can get crowded at times.
The one thing about this place that is PHENOMENALLY annoying is the live music. It's a small/narrow place and there is barely room to fit musicians. When they start playing, it becomes VERY loud and it's impossible to have a conversation with your friends. There are places for music, and I don't think this restaurant is one of them. This is a good enough reason for me to consider not going to this restaurant, if I plan on actually talking to my dinner companions while I am there. -

Great atmosphere, truly mediocre food. I would return for drinks but dine elsewhere. Service was excellent...shame about the food.

I'm not going to lie... we come here for the eye candy. The Brazilian goddesses that walk in the room, they know how to work a room. I was drinking the best white sangria in Manhattan people watching with my friends. These girls know they are the hottest women in Manhattan too. They have all the men wrapped around their curvaceous bodies! They know they can get anything they want, from shots to Christian Louboutins and dinner! YES.
Sangrias are $15 - Totally worth it if you have a platinum AMEX to treat you.
COME HERE FOR THE EYE CANDY... NOT THE FOOD :) -

I've been coming to this wonderful Soho gem for 7 years and one of the big draws, along with the food and the ever present eye candy, has been the live entertainment. They seem to have a fairly consistent lineup of top notch Brazilian, Cuban and African music that complements their vibe nicely. A few weeks ago we saw a smoking trio that referred to themselves as an Afrobeat hillbilly band; strange but true. On a nice night when the doors are open and the scene is grooving there is no place I'd rather be.

Keep the sangria coming!
This place has it all, live music, hot women, delicious drinks and tasty food.
Although we did not come to eat we did treat ourselves to the delicious white sangria. At 15 dollars a pop these could be considered lethal on more than one way.
Sitting at the bar gives you the best views to just people watch. The sexy Brazilian women work themselves around the room dripping in diamonds. The men just watch them as if they are in awe.
Live music is always an A+. Although I could not see where it was coming from the jazz music was amazing. -

Astoria, NY
I popped in here while shopping in Soho. It's a quaint little restaurant. Prices are what you'd expect for the neighborhood (expensive). I had the buffalo burger for lunch. It was lovely. Very well flavored & prepared. Unfortunately the service was a disappointment. There were only three tables and I still had to wave constantly to get even the most basic of service. This restaurant is open-air when the weather permits. Unfortunately a customer was smoking directly in front of the doors allowing the smell to fill the restaurant. That I had to say something once was not cool. That they allowed the same customer to smoke in the same exact place 10 minutes later speaks volumes to the attentiveness of the staff. Not paying attention to customers and not paying attention to the restaurant made for crap service. There are plenty of not-so-cheap places to eat in that neighborhood, so I really see no reason to aim for this one.

Atlanta, GA
Hungry and tired from an afternoon of shopping, we were looking for somewhere to take a break...and then we saw it: "2 for 1 Sangria at the bar"...done!
The sangria was really good (I liked the white better than the red). We shared the Classica bruschetta (so fresh!) and the calamari (perfectly cooked, served with 2 yum sauces). The service was friendly and prompt, and loved the casual chic vibe of the place. -
Review from Yi C.
New York, NY
Paying $11 for what looked and tasted like a regular 8" cheese pizza was the low point. Basil is not an actual ingredient if two leaves of basil are added as garnish.
I wanted to like Boom, and like decent foreplay, my expectations were pumped. Our starters were delish, chocolate martini and salmone bruchette. I went with what I thought was the safe choice: Bistecca (medium-rare grilled rib-eye with shitake mushroom). The mushroom and the sauce were good, but how can rib-eye meat be so thin and so dry? I sampled my friends' dishes of lasagna and spaghetto, I've had better -- homemade.
Word of warning, although being seated next to the open window provides a great Soho view, it's the worst seat in the house for non-smokers. I doubt I'll be going back even with my 50% off coupon voucher. -

My last night in NYC was spent here with a friend for dinner. We had delicious food. And lucky for us it was Brazilian night! There was live music and sexy people dancing all around us. I felt like I was in a little Brazilian club. Very beautiful men and women clientele!
The only think that didn't work for me was that after we got our food, our waiter pretty much disappeared. We had to flag down a busboy several times to help us, which was irritating. We actually tipped the busboy more than the waiter...
I'd go back but not to eat on Brazilian night. Just to drink and boogie. -
Review from Peter C.
Very nice meal - the lamb in particular was memorable. Drinks were excellent, service was friendly and prompt. There was a live band the night we were there, which at first was worrisome, as they can be overpowering in a dinner setting, but it turned out to be a very welcome addition to the evening!
The food was just a bit short of excellent, and the prices were pushing it compared to what you can get for your money other places, but still a solid 4 stars - I'd recommend it. -

You, a (insert any positive adj as you want) man/woman,
go to Boom, an Italian restaurant in the heart of chic Soho,
for either food or fashion,
holding a glass of terrific wine,
served by a model-look sexy waitress,
surrounded by a sophisticated crowd,
sharing an intimate conversation,
...... isn't it a fabulous scene?
I am sure Boom is not the only one where this scene can take place, but it's def one of them in town. Feel free to be fabulous in New York City. -

It's been a while since I've been here, and I've only come once....
But I've not been able to get it off my mind!!
Came here back in August '10- one of my very first nights out in the city!
Boy, I'm bummed I wasn't able to go home afterward so I could save my left overs!
I ordered the lasagna and a couple of glasses of wine.... DELICIOUS!!
Hands down the best lasagna I've ever had. EVER.
I'm a creature of habit, so I highly doubt I'll try anything else next time I come, but I'm really looking forward to it, whenever that may be!! -

Was here for a tasting I bought from the Dealist which didn't really match what we were served, but the place is nice and the food was really tasty.

I fell immediately and deeply in love. I was walking past this place and heard live Brazilian music coming through the open French doors. In the back, the rotunda-shaped skylight shone down on romantic little tables. On the wall on the left as you walk in is a beautiful fresco of a hand-painted world. It is a mix of cultures European and South American that offer this place a worldly feel that any traveler would appreciate.
I was in the middle of a casual date (we were shopping in the area) but walking up, I realized I'd stumbled onto what would become one of my favorite date spots in the city. We grabbed a table by the open windows to snag a perfect view of Spring Street and all the gorgeous people that walk around down there (and frequent the restaurant.) And afterward we stuck around at the bar and watched the music.
The staff was friendly and interested and helpful. The food was good (but certainly not great) Italian. The atmosphere is six-stars in my mind. If they fix the food--put a little more love and maybe a bit more world into it--then this place would be so good I wouldn't be able to keep my clothes on.Listed in: Love and Food, Recession Dining

Boston, MA
This place 'looks' cute and semi-sophisticated but has NO SOUL. They are committed to getting you seated but that's about it! You'll see waitstaff walking from here to there but then they put their blinders on and walk quickly past you, even ignoring reasonable efforts to flag them down.
The food was better than average but was lacking in certain areas. Ordered a prosciutto sandwich with salad - the sandwich was decent but the salad was the equivalent of serving astroturf, so I considered it an inedible garnish and didn't touch it.
One of the busboys flapped a tablecloth at a nearby table so much that there was a swarm of dust that engulfed everyone around. It was the kind of thing you normally do when no one's in the restaurant.
It's too bad that they can't get their act together. Don't waste your time - there are far too many spots in SoHo that are better. -

Saw the back of the restaurant from the street since the sliding windows were open and I couldn't resist. It looked so quaint and they were serving brunch.
The food was great and so was my cappuccino. It wasn't very busy and it was a good spot to get out of the rain while watching everyone else try to get away from it. -

CAN YOU HEAR ME??!... NO? NEVERMIND!! *eye roll*
that was pretty much how the conversation went the entire time my friends and i were at boom. there was a live band performing that day and while it was enjoyable, it was just TOO loud. we didn't even bother trying to yell at each other over the noise because there would have been absolutely no point- you couldn't hear anyways. the food was overpriced and not very good. the bread was very hard. if you don't like conversing with your peeps while you're eating and you enjoy overpaying for so-so food, then you'll enjoy boom. -

Providence, RI
OK, first of all this is one of my favorite restaurants in the world! And, it's not because of their food, super fast service or anything other super amazing they have! If you are looking for that, there are gazillions of those in Manhattan.. But, this place is special..
We discovered Boom randomly on a warm Spring late afternoon and it was like running into the love of your life when you least expected it! The candles, the music, the decoration... I don't know what it is, but it really is a magical spot in Spring & Summer..
It has a very bohemian atmosphere and is a very eclectic place! Almost like a small Parisian bistro in a bohemian neighborhood! And, that's what makes this place so special to me.. It is stripped off the whole hype of "New York City" and is like an oasis among many other tourist traps in the area..
I still remember the crisp taste of the spring salad I had and I will probably never forget their sangria...I know my review sounds kinda corny, but the only way I can describe their sangria is simply divinity in liquid form! There you go!
Again, if you go here with hopes of having top-notch food and an amazingly quick Manhattan-ish service; you will be disappointed. But, if you enjoy living in the moment, cool music, bohemian Parisian atmosphere and out of the world sangria; you will absolutely love this place!
Go in Spring or Summer though.. In winter it can get quite packed -

Boom boom boom! Had a great dinner at this place on a Saturday night. The homemade mozzarella was to die for. The antipasti salad was fresh and delicious- the arugula was perfect with the mozzarella and prosciutto. Also had the fresh pasta with the mozzarella and tomato cream sauce- divine.
Only downside was the cramped space- we were definitely creepin on the conversations of the people next to us at times during the meal.
Definitely would go back next time I am in NYC! -

We were there for lunch and starving. The food was average and the staff was barely existant. To say the service was slow would be a HUGE understatement.
This place didn't leave me enough of a negative or positive impression. I'd go again if I were hungry, but I wouldn't seek it out.
It's just there.
'nuff said. -

Went here for the pre-fixed menu.
The food was definitely good, wouldn't say amazing. However, the ambience was nice and the wine pairing to the food was very tasty.
If you are looking for a good and affordable place for a date-night or an evening out with the girls where you want to sample several different wines/sparkling wines and courses, I would highly suggest. -

We stumbled onto this restaurant while shopping in SoHo. Food was mediocre, service was not the best. Our initial server was quick to take our order but never showed up again. We must have had 5 different people helping us out. I had the Boom Burger and it was a dud. The bread was some type of focaccia with the ends cut off and was hard to chew. The fries were soggy and limp.
We probably won't be going back when visiting SoHo. -

My rating is based on three things:
1. The bruschetta - YUM. (chunks of parmasean, fresh tomatoes, basil, olive oil, balsamic, flatbread)
2. The Sangria - YUM.
3. The atmosphere- relaxing and fun for a night out with your girlfriends.
OH- and this one gay guy waiter gave me 2 free glasses of champagne with a strawberry one night - with a wink ;) Love it. Two thumbs up. -

3 1/2 Stars
Boom is a great little spot to unwind after shopping in SoHo, especially if you take advantage of their happy hour! The atmosphere is super chill and the drinks were more than satisfying- 2 for 1 blonde/red sangrias! Our bartender was a total sweetheart and so was the owner. They both made us feel right at home!
I can't vouch for the food, which explains the 3 1/2 star rating, but I can say that Boom ended up being just what we needed, when we needed it! -

We stopped in here because the ambiance looked nice -- romantic, casual, yet fun looking. Overall this was just an average experience.
Things I didn't like:
Food: my pasta dish was so small (Triagonoli Ravioli or something) I had five bites and it was gone! Also for the price, it wasn't that great.
The classica and parma Brushetta were good though
Service: Decent, water wasn't always refilled promptly
Ambiance: The live band was nice, but it got so LOUD! We couldn't hear each other speak across the table. As for the tables, they're packed so close that you can't move! Not the best way I want to spend my evening -

Stopped in here for lunch yesterday. I liked the atmosphere and enjoyed the delicious spaghetti. It tasted perfect. Not only exactly what I was in the mood for -- but -- better!!!
The pot of Earl Grey tea at the end of the meal was also very very good!! Perfectly fragrant. -

Manhattan, NY
Disappointing. Atmosphere was great, appetizers good then went downhill. My pasta came out overcooked. I never send food back but having lived in italy am fussy about my pasta. When I told waitress she went to get manager who took 5mins to arrive then tried to tell me fresh pasta is supposed to be like that (it's not). Was happy to replace course with something else but couldn't get that i just wanted the same but cooked properly. Have me a lot of attitude. Perhaps telling him in italian that this is not how it should be wasn't a smart move. Replacement took ages and manager and waitress then blatantly ignored is for the rest of the evening. Pasta was ok when it arrived but nothing amazing and needed a lot of salt. I wouldn't recommend.

I tried Boom Restaurant on a Saturday afternoon this past October. The place was full of tourist families which was to be expected given its location but the venue is suprisingly spacey and accomodated everyone comfortably.
My wife and I ordered two different sandwiches with mixed outcomes. Her's was delicious while mine was avarage. My gripe with my order is that I don't think it had the cheese that the menu stated so the taste seemed off for me. Other than that my sandwich was acceptable. The wine list was ok, perhaps a little pricey, but they offer quite a few wines by the glass. Despite the selection, we both order water.
The service was ok. Had they been a wee bit more attentive and gotten me the check a little quicker than they did, I would have been more impressed.
Overall, the experience was ok. We were hungry and wanted a place to relax during our shopping spree in Soho. It met our expectations but didn't necessarily blow our socks off. -
Review from Leo C.
Rego Park, NY
Food: Waaay overpriced for the quality of food or "lack of." My girlfriend ordered the lobster ravioli which basically had no lobster, more like lobster flavored with pink sauce. I think it takes more than the color pink to identify an object as a lobster or else Juicy Couture can be a lobster market. I had the chicken pizza, which I did not even finish. To set up the scenario, I eat ANY pizza, it's my favorite food. I don't even complain about eating chain store pizza. Like what my girl said, "mmmh you didn't finish your pizza, that says ALOT."
Service: Usually if the service was good, I'll throw on a few extra stars because I use to be a waiter too. But wow, service was horrible, had to ask for water, ask for red pepper for the pizza, ask for black pepper. Oh yea, lets not forget that we had to seat ourselves since waiters just pass us of one to another without seating us of course.
Drink: Macrobrew beer and Brooklyn Brewery for your selections plus a long, low quality wine list. Beer served in bottles at 8 bucks per. Wine in glass or bottle, most available in glass.
Crowd/Ambiance: Crowd composed of family of tourists and "high school reunion but I'm 40 now people." I think their target audience must be tourists and people who don't know any better. Be mindful that music is loud here. Came on a Sunday and it was a live CD DJ. I don't mind the loudness and bass but for people looking for a quite place, turn around and leave. Actually for all people, just turn around and leave.Listed in: Eat

This is one of my neighborhood go to spots. The best time to go is late afternoon on a Saturday - sit at the bar, get the cheese plate (AMAZING) and some proseco. The bartenders are friendly and give a little extra this and that.
Dinner is good here too. Its "dark" and "romantic" but also kind of has this euro-trash vibe, esp after 11pm. -

Superb location: Just back from a shopping spree of lower Manhattan with friend and have to say this is a great place to stop, rest your weary bones and have a delightful meal. Have just been there for lunch but I'm sure dinner is great because there is alot of attention to detail with the food...great desserts!

My favorite restaurant in Soho. As a starter, i order the steamed mussels in tomato sauce that is served in a huge bread bowl. So delicious to dip the bread in the sauce. And their lobster ravioli is amazing, everyone i bring here loves it. And the ambiance is very relaxing and romantic, a great date night spot.
