I love my local libraries but sometimes I just can't handle the responsibility of more return dates on my calendar [1] or the requirement to read and return by a certain date. Plus, my shelves get filled with miscellaneous paperbacks I acquire on trips, from relatives, etc. I consider the Booktique my recycling center.
Typically I take in 5 - 10 books and get a tax deductible receipt for my donation. Then I browse the shelves and pick up a couple of used books for bargain prices (50 cents up).
It is a small space, but well run by volunteers through the Friends of the Lake Oswego Public Library so all proceeds go there. Hours are 10a - 4p Tuesday thru Saturday.
[1] I'm averaging two trips a week to the library, not to mention the books my kids check out from their school library. Way too much book learnin' going on at my house these days.
